It Starts...

September 16

So I just got out of my nutrition class.. and ugh its just not as interesting as I had hoped. The teach reads directly from the slides and the book is the worst read EVER!! I loved my textbook from last semester, but this one is just down right horrible... and to think I have to go and read like 30 pages... it just might kill me. We are currently talking about carbs, but only how your body metabolizes them through the different cycles... and ugh... its just boring.

Anyway, I'm freaking starving right now. Once I'm done here I'm going to head outside and get my daily dose of Vit. D and have my little snack... just a banana and an apple.

I am going to strength train tonight and am looking foward to it. I still haven't made a plan for this week... but I do know that tomorrow morning is Ab work and then hills tomorrow night. And hopefully we will do the full loop Friday!!!

So thats all for now I guess....

Yeah and Me I love talking and learning about food... but UGH!!! I wish that I didn't have to go to class, but she takes attendance so I pretty much don't have a choice.... oh well....

Ha I was just gonna post saying that I just consumed the BEST APPLE ever!! I am typically a green apple girl, but I bought some of the red and yellow ones... and OH MAN!!! My taste buds are still DANCING!!!

You have a good day too lady!!!!!!!!:hurray:

I remember my Nutrition class. I actually liked it but, my teacher was kinda cool and it was a pretty easy class. I thought Physiology was about going to kill me when I took it for the 2nd time... I made it thru though, and felt victorious. Learning all those cycles in which your body processes carbs is such a pain in the ass. I need to dig out my nursing shit and start studying... lol. You, btw, are looking great. I can't wait to see the before and afters of when your finally at your goal. Like I've said time and time again, I really love the shape of your body and the fact that you were proud of it.

Take Care,
Sam

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!:eek2:

you look AMAZINGLY gorgeous! And WTF you look "hella" strong--whaddayatalkin bout?!?!?! :p Great great body! You look more proportionate than you did, as well--but like a superhero or something. Wonderwoman!

Too bad the text book sucks for nutrition--I'm almost as disappointed as you are :(

Enjoy the strength training!!!!!!! :D I had a great time with that yesterday, and tonight I'm gonna hit up belly dancing AND yoga--I've been weight training and kickboxing for years, it's time to get in touch with my feminine side ;)

Thanks Lady, I am pretty proud of that pic... and I feel like my confidence is BEAMING!! Maybe sometime soon I will bust out my bikini and take some real before and after shots.

Ugh, I know, my text from last semester was amazing... so much that I pull it out for reference all the time... But this one I just want to throw out the window... I can't believe I shelled out over 140 buck for it!!! UGH!!!

I did NOT strength train tonight because I am a loser... I came home and crashed woke up and it was late and I needed to get up the grocery store for some fresh veggies... But I did just have a nice home made caesar salad for dinner, it was quite tastey!! Lets hope I can get my big butt outta bed tomorrow and get some ab work in and then hills tomorrow night. I have been having motivation issues recently trying to balance work and school and homelife and exercise and I try to put exercise first, but school comes first...

Anyway, thanks for the sweet comments!!!

Yeah my class last semester wasn't great either, but at least I didn't mind sitting down to read the text... I agree that learning the cycles SUCK! We are going through them right now and yes I understand that its important to know how our body breaks these things down, but to what degree??? I mean I get that carbs are the number 1 source of energy, but do I really need to know how many ATP glycolysis produces???

Thanks for sweet comment Sam... I am getting so close I can taste it!! But I'm sure once I get there a whole new goal will present itself! :seeya:

September 17

Sooo I'm here at work and its not really busy. I did homework for the first 3 hours I was here and then have been working on the few things that come in... I'm currently in limbo waiting for more markups so that I can print this set.

I did not get out of bed again this morning... I was super tired... I don't know what the deal is, I've been wicked tired all this week upon waking and I hate that feeling. As though I didn't rest at all. So needless to say I did not get any kind of wo in... sadly... Pretty upset at myself for not.. but I plan on making up for it this evening. I told Step to do everything in his power to keep me from napping when I get home... I think that's what does it to me.

Eats so far this morning have been good... I had Kashi go lean crunch with ff milk, a banana, and a cup of joe. I'm currently working on a lg glass of water. The company I work for is taking me out for lunch today for my birthday... I chose to go to BRAVO! an Itilian kitchen... yummy stuff... I plan to eat sensibly, but won't hold back. And there is chicken out for dinner... but I dont know yet what I am going to do with it....

Ummmm, I have been looking into joining the NM Road Runners running club. They have weekly workouts and meetings and what not. Step and I have talked about the different things we have wanted to get involved in, that being one of them... I think it would be a great motivating tool as well as a way to meet some new people. He is also interested in joining a cycling club... if I had a road bike I would consider it.... I am also looking into the different sports clubs, see if there is anything semi interesting... TJ used to play club volleyball, but stopped because she couldnt find anyone to do it with, her well our friend 'G' used to play with her, but.... recently gave up on life... just meaning she stopped caring about her self and pretty much became a slug.... sad she is a gorgeous girl... but lost motivation.... its complicated... I've tried to help, but she is full of excuses...

Anyway, back to psy studying!

Maybe sometime soon I will bust out my bikini

for a second I thought you said you will bust OUT of your bikini :drool5: ;)

You're welcome! :D And you're not a loser--getting enough sleep is IMPERATIVE to weight loss, I put that one on wax and I'll challenge anyone to that fact :flame: And maybe when you exercise you can go over school lessons in your head or use flash cards--that way you can study AND work out!!!

I don't know what the deal is, I've been wicked tired all this week upon waking and I hate that feeling.

You're wearing yourself out somehow. Can you take a day off to regroup? Also, workouts usually increase energy as long as there's nothing seriously wrong with you.......

I think I just need to get back on a good sleep cycle. I had sleep issues all summer long from stress and now that school is back in full swing I am finally sleeping through the night... but I still have a hard time falling asleep. And Step likes to go to bed at the same time, but it doesnt work for me because he's in bed before 10 and typcially I haven't even sat down... I am usually up doing stuff from the time I get off work until right to bed time... I think I need more "relax" time before bed and I need to get up at a consistant time. Plus all this week I've come home and crashed I have to stay moving or I'm doomed for a nap and then I'm really screwed up!! I haven't had a consistant workout schedule in the last 2 weeks aswell so that could also be it... I know I have more energy when I am working out daily and I sleep better.... So the goal for tonight is NO NAP!! And hopefully a little relax time before bed!

Oooh, motivate her by example! Maybe..........(??)

Oh I wish I could.... she is the girl I idolized in HS... gorgeous face, perfect body, tons of friends, stylish, played volleyball, ya know the whole package... Well the past few years she has put on a little weight... and then that turned into a lot of weight (close to 40lbs or so) and she always asks how I do it and tells me that she hates me because I'm smaller every time she sees me... but she won't do anything about it... her excuse is "I don't want my boobs to shirnk..." And at this point there is nothing I can do... plus she is not willing to change her eating habits or her non existant exercise habits... and it kills me because she was the one I looked up to for soooo long and now look at her.... and worst of all she complains about it and I have tried to help but nope... I want to drink DP and eat chilie cheese fries that is her response!! So what can you do?

I am sure I will have clients like her at some point during my career hopefully by then I will have learned how to approach the situation without being a total bitch... ya know?

I know you didn't like yoga, but in all honesty all the relaxing and de-stressing from my practice makes me crash out in 10 minutes of getting tween the sheets, and I've had sleeping issues as well--it has taken me an hour to fall asleep a lot of the time! Course, I don't have a hot hubby or boyfriend to distract me, now, either! :p I think the pranayama (breathing practices) do the trick, too--maybe you could try those........

It's always easier to take advice from an objective stranger for some people. And to give advice--maybe just show her you have an open heart and say "Seriously--I used to look up to you, and now you're jeopardizing your health. Please take my advice because I care about you and want you to do well for yourself" or something.

I know, I acutally bought an AM/PM yoga video for beginners this past summer and I have done it a few times and youre right...it does help calm me down so that I can sleep... I might try that tonight and see how it goes. Ha Step is a snoozer when it comes to bed time so he is not keeping me up, but I wish that were the reason! But I will try some breathing like you suggested, I acutally have a thing my co-worker sent me its just an mp3 file of breathing exercises... his wife is a yoga instructor so he has given me tips before...

Yeah I have tried several things before, but she has no intention of changing... You would think that after your dr tells you that you need to loose a few pounds that you would take it to heart (I know I did), but no she just laughed it off... I think she has to figure it out for herself... the question is how long will that take and what damange will be done by that point... ya know?

Hey, D. I'm a pro at falling asleep. My head hits the pillow and I'm snoring. One tool that you have is that boring text. Give that a read while trying to fall asleep. And the no naps is a big thing. Splitting up your sleep really will sap your energy. If you need that nap, try this one. Drink a cup of coffee set an alarm for fifteen minutes, and then lay down. I heard that it takes about fifteen minutes for the caffeine to hit your system, so you'll wake up refreshed.

As for your friend, no one wants to be told that they have to lose weight. Go for the fun of it instead of the health benefits. Volleyball is so much fun, who wouldn't want to do it. Besides, if she gets into it, she'll decide to get in better shape on her own.

Yeah I know the naps has to be the big reason for my tiredness... I am not a 15 min napper, more like 2 hour napper... so that stops today! I've napped everyday this week and over the weekend too. I could read the text, I hadn't thought about that. Eek I don't know about the coffee, but I might try it. Step is the same way with sleeping, he is out as soon as he is down! And he hops out of bed in the morning too!! Makes me crazy!!

Yeah I know what you mean and I have never out right told her... she always brings it up and then I offer advice. I wish I could get her out and about but she just makes up excuses or complains soo much while you are doing it that you want to stab her... or yourself... so its a toughie.

Hey there :)

I sometimes have issues falling asleep as well... I tend to do my workouts at night after I get off work, so I know that might be part of it. It's not too too big of a deal right now but when I start back in school I will HAVE to be asleep by a certain time so I can be up by a certain time... I plan to start reading before bed, which usually did the trick awhile back. Breathing exercises and soothing soft music (think Sade or soft jazzish) usually always helped me fall asleep... A lot of it is just my brain not wanting to shut off for the day. Limiting caffeine has been a big one for me. I don't drink diet soda that often anymore at all, and usually have some green tea in the morning, or a cup of coffee when I get into work. I'm not a huge coffee drinker anyhow...

Your friend will decide when she wants to lose weight... She will obviously be the one doing the work, so she has to mentally be ready for it. My brother has put on a ton of weight in the past couple years and it has been hard for me to watch... I haven't said anything to him because I feel it will just do more harm than good. It's really hard for to watch him do this to himself but, it is his choice. I can't do anything about it, except be there when he needs me, which I intend to.

I highly recommend joining a running club. It's awesome to go to the weekly workouts and get professional coaching as well as motivation. And it is always great to find running buddies in your area. Nothing beats the pains of a long run than having a running buddy you can chit chat with and pass the time. I used to run around a high school track with my ipod and a coaches counter to count my laps. Now I run on beautiful trails and drive to really cool places to get my runs in. It's a world of a difference and makes running that much more of a joy rather than a means to lose weight.

I just looked at your pictures. I don't know why you are baby-ing the running lady. You got the body of an athlete...use it! Get that 1/2 marathon on the schedule and push yourself. You can totally do it. No wining!!

Read this online mini story. It's awesome:

I only recently noticed that I am having a hard time falling asleep, like within the last year or so... I don't typically drink anything with caffeine after say ten in the morning and even then I will only have one cup of joe. I'm did things a little different tonight, so we will see how I do... I'm getting pretty tired right now... I just need to hold on to that and not get distracted with something else...

I just get frustrated with her because she brings it up and acts as though she wants help and then just laughs it off... and then the next time I see her she has gained another few pounds..... I figure one day she will hit the bottom and get serious and I will be there to help pick her up and dust off her pants. But like you said its hard to watch and you soo badly want to intervine, but its best to wait until they come to you.
