It Starts...

I highly recommend joining a running club. It's awesome to go to the weekly workouts and get professional coaching as well as motivation. And it is always great to find running buddies in your area. Nothing beats the pains of a long run than having a running buddy you can chit chat with and pass the time. I used to run around a high school track with my ipod and a coaches counter to count my laps. Now I run on beautiful trails and drive to really cool places to get my runs in. It's a world of a difference and makes running that much more of a joy rather than a means to lose weight.

I just looked at your pictures. I don't know why you are baby-ing the running lady. You got the body of an athlete...use it! Get that 1/2 marathon on the schedule and push yourself. You can totally do it. No wining!!

Read this online mini story. It's awesome:

I am still researching the running club, but I can see me joining something within the next month.

You are so right. I have the potential but just haven't pushed myself to it! I will search events and start training... as of right NOW!! I know I can do this and there is nothing holding me back but me... Thanks for the motivation lady!!

Oh BTW this article was cute... I will RUN LIKE AN ANIMAL!!!

September 18 {morning}

Its early, I actully made it to work on time... woke up refreshed and not tired! My feet hit the floor this morning before 6, which is a huge improvement of after 6:30!! I did several things different last night to make sure I was ready for bed when bed time came. One, we ran hills. Two, I started to relax myself around 9. Three, I did some deep breathing and while lying in bed. Four, Step gave me a very light back massage and poof I was OUT!!! And I was ready to get out of bed when the alarm went off!!

So we did hills last night... or the hill I should say. Our street is a loop and there is a very long hill all the way to our driveway... We clocked the distance on our bikes before hand and its 0.35 miles per loop. Last time we did 5, this time we did 6... so just over 2 miles. I would put this in the category of HIIT because we sprint up the hill and then cool down and right as I am finally catching my breath we are back around to do it all again... I was proud of myself because I kept my feet moving as much as I wanted to stop and walk I just kept going. It felt really good and I could really feel the burn in my legs. And I was happy to see Step dying aswell... altough he pushed really hard last night too.

Um, the state fair is in town and tonight is 1/2 price admission... so we decieded we would go check it out. We went to the horse pull last year and had a pretty fun time... I think we are just going to see what there is to see... and get a giant roasted turkey leg of course :)

So yeah that's about all for now!!

Hey Miss D how you doing? Glad to see you doing so well. That pic of you really shows your progress. Your legs have slimmed down sooooo much. I was in absolute shock when I saw that. I, on the other hand, had a terrible night last night. Things were going soo well until I got home from work. I had a bit of chinese food and it turned into a massive binge. I did do a cardio kickboxing class yesterday but it didnt make a difference on the scale this morning. But I know the scale was soo high because I ate right up until I went to bed.Well hows school? have you managed to get your workouts in any better??

Hey Amanda. I am doing pretty good actually but I'm having a hard time balancing everything.. but its getting easier. Today is re-group day for me!

I have been having a hard time with food lately too... I've been soooo hungry that I just eat everything I can get my hands on. Don't worry too much about the scale, its just a number... How do you feel? I know you prolly feel guilty but you did get a workout in... and a fun one at that I'm sure. How did you like the cardio kickboxing? I have been searching for a good class here, but its all fight based... nothing for buring calories.

School is going well so far I am a little behind in my A&P class, but its a load of work. How about you? Are you enjoying your classes?

Thanks for stopping by... I missed ya!

Wowza! Did anything exciting happen while on the ambulance? I assume you are a paramedic??

How is your wife's foot? Is she getting around okay?

No. We only had 1 call and it was doped up lady who called 911 but then didnt want to go to the hospitol. I got to drive the ambulance though:driving:

I am not a paramedic. Right now I am just a driver, I will be working on getting my EMT Basic License but that is probably as far as I will go. I pretty much just want to do this right now because it will allow me to go back to school.

Oh and Violet's foot is getting much better. She is walking ok in her boot but it still gets sore if she is on it too much. She is able to cook and do laundry again though which I know sounds sexists to say but it was really wearing me out doing ALL of the cooking, ALL of the cleaning, ALL of the fetching. I do my share but its rough taking care of a family of 4 by yourself.

She even hit the gym the other day and did some upper body circuits.

:driving: What fun!! I think the EMT license is a great idea, I considered it myself, just never went through with it. What are you wanting to go back to school for?

I'm glad to hear your wife is getting better... and I think its great that she still wants to go to the gym. I know injuries like that can put you back months!

So I got an email saying that my first class was cancled... just the motivation I needed to send me home! I am taking today as re-group day. I just got home a few mins ago, got the house all picked up.. started the dish washer and laid out my homework. I hope to get caught up on everything and then I am going to head over to Boarders this afternoon and search for some Anatomy flash cards... I found some online but I think I might be able to get them from somewhere local... and there are like 3 different bookstores close to my casa...

I would also like to note that with Lovelyladyhumps push I downloaded a novic half marathon training program... 12 week program running 3 or 4 days a week with strength training on the off days. I'm going to run it by Step this evening and then start week 1 Monday! There is NO turning back! I am DOING THIS!!!!

Oh right I think I had read that in your diary once upon a time. Have you started the course work yet?

Nope. When it got time to actually register for my classes, I couldnt work any of them into my schedule. Thats the main reason I am changing jobs. I will get rolling again next semester.

I hear that! Its hard to work school into your life. I am lucky my employer lets me work part time even though I was initially hired full time. But either way its tough. Best wishes on your first semester... You are very strong willed so I know you will do GREAT!
