It Starts...

Those smilies do look kinda tripy like that. I like it :)

I saw some Anatomy flashcards at Barnes and Noble a few weeks back. I might go in and get them. I'm pretty decent with most the bones- it's just all the markings and shapes on them that can get confusing. The muscles I definitely need to work on, and parts of the brain, and probably the heart. I always did like Anatomy.

Half marathon training, huh? Your a brave woman my dear. You can do it though. I know you can :)

Thanks for the tip on Barnes and Noble, we went to 2 different book stores before finding the flash cards at B&N... I also got a coloring book, I'm pretty excited about it... oddly. I am enjoying A&P but feeling overwhelmed... its a hybrid class so the majority of it is done online, so there is alot of teaching yourself.

I have had such great results running thus far that 1/2er is the next step.. and I am the only one holding myself back... so I might as well do it!! :)

September 18

So today I was very productive, I got caught up on alot of my studying and had a relaxing day.

Step and I had planned to go to the fair tonight, but we ended up bookstore hopping instead... which was fun. We both enjoy reading and bookstores are like little pieces of heaven that you can get lost in. Stephen spent the majority of this time in the fantasy section and me in the health and fitness section... sooo many books I want to buy, but I will wait until I have more money and time.

Tonight was pretty much blow off as far as food goes. I made mac and cheese late today just because it sounded good.... and then we had chilis for dinner... which is always good. And now we are just chilling out before bed... we played with the girls a bit... (we have snakes... Stephen is a herpetologist) and we have two baby girls... mine and his kinda and then we have two older males as well... all different breeds.... anyway, they are always fun to take out and handle....

Well I just got the "Honey...." as the shirt goes flying... means its bedtime... and I do not disagree....

Night Night!!

I know a number of people who are in similar shoes as you right now and they've found a lot of utility in that link.

I toyed around with it and it's pretty good for a free website. I could definitely see it being helpful since it's repetitive and anatomy is all about memory.

Yeah, I am learning that I just need to keep going over the material time and time again, and its starting to click. We have only gone over histology, intugement, and the skeleton... and the skeleton is the only one I feel I have a handle on... mostly.

Its funny that you say its all about memory... Our teacher said that he does not want us to memorize anything... but I'm not really sure how he expects us to get it if we dont. We had a practice practial in lab this week and we had to look at slides of tissue and tell what they were... Um, yeah I got them all wrong.......

September 20

Just thought I would check in. Step and I ran the loop this morning and it wasn't my best preformance, but at least we got out of the house. I think my head was just not in the game... the 3.32 miles took us 45 mins... we walked a bit, my fault, I just gave up a few times...

Um, thats pretty much it. Foods been good today, nothing outrageous... although we did have bagels for breakfast... I had a pumpkin one.. it was yummers.

So yeah, hopefully we will get a "plan" worked out for this week.. and stick with it!

I am still researching the running club, but I can see me joining something within the next month.

You are so right. I have the potential but just haven't pushed myself to it! I will search events and start training... as of right NOW!! I know I can do this and there is nothing holding me back but me... Thanks for the motivation lady!!

Oh BTW this article was cute... I will RUN LIKE AN ANIMAL!!!

Keep me posted on your progress. If you saw some of the people training for marathons with me you would be amazed...they don't look like athlete's much less runners...so if they can do it you can to!! Get moving!! :)

I will, this is week 1 and I will be running 12 miles this week total... which is kinda intimidating, but I'm up for it!! As long as I keep my mind in the game I think I will be okay.

12 miles in a week sounds incredible, but it's an achievable goal. It's probably better then looking at each individual run, because you are chipping away at a bigger goal. Good luck.

September 22 {Week 1 Half marathon training}

Okay, so its Monday... I've been at work for just about 40 mins and already have nothing to do, which is fine because I have anatomy stuff I can study. This weekend was very low key, we really didn't do much. Yesterday was my brothers birthday, we had a nice little BBQ at my parents house. I also found out yesterday that I am going to be an AUNT!!!! YAY!! I have been waiting almost 2 years for them to get pregnant and yay finally!! I technically have 3 nephew's on Step's side, but I am still excited!! My parents are super excited too... both my mom and I cried... it was cute!

So its week 1 of my half marathon training and I am excited and a little worried about fitting the workouts in. But I have a plan! Which is what matters. I downloaded a novic plan Friday and Step and I went over it... he didnt really care for it because it gave things to do on off days, like cross train and strength train. He was hoping for a program of strickly running. So I looked at some other plans, but I didnt like the running schedule. So we can compromise and use the running from this plan and modify the "rest" days to our liking. We will do our long runs on Sundays, which means todays is a "rest" day, but since we didn't run yesterday I will do somekind of workout tonight.

My plan for this week is to get back on track with myself. The past 2 weeks have been full of inconsistacny and its time to get back with it. I always forget how hard it is to balance life when I'm in school. But I'm getting better!! This is the 5th week of school and I feel like I have a pretty good handle on things thus far.

Anyway, I am going to put together a workout plan for the week and post here it when I get it done!!

Today's Eats:
Oatmeal w/dried cranberries and almonds
1 c coffee w/cream and sugar
Total: 381 cals
{right on target!}

Yeah it sounds like alot but its broken up into 4 days, so its not that bad. I think the most I've ran in a week is 10 miles, but 12 is doable. And If I feel I need to repeat a week as far as training goes I can so that I don't become overwhelmed by the 3rd or 4ht week.

Glad to hear you're getting back on track! And congrats on the news about being an aunt... that's exciting.

Yesss, just knowing I have a plan has made me more relaxed, but also anxious to get with it. Not much I can do from my desk ya know.

Thanks!! I can't wait to spoil it!!
