Icychic's Weightloss Diary

Well that was another crappy day. Leaving late for various reasons, never got a workout in, have been tired all day and feeling a headache start. Going home, making/eating dinner (pasta of some sort as it is all we have at the moment and it is quick) and then sleeping. If my brain won't shut down a bit of TV or WoW playing.

Hope everyone else had a better day than me and hoping tomorrow goes better. Did not hear from Staples, must remember to call tomorrow if I still hear nothing.

I'm sorry that you had another stressful crappy day. I do understand how hard that makes it to be focused on making positive changes in your life.

I hope you were able to relax when you got home. Shutting down your mind after a bad day is indeed difficult!

Thanks JadeLynn!

Looks like this whole week is going to suck, and possibly next week too. Hopefully next week won't be as bad with the other lady coming back from holidays. Wanting to be super productive today and ensure all orders are on track and everything is caught up.

Nov 26th:
Dinner: Cream of Chicken soup with pasta.

Yesterday:
Weight: 139.5
Food: Cereal for breakfast. Leftovers for lunch. A bit of the leftover bag of skittles from the weekend movie. Dinner I was BAD! Since A got a pizza without calling me to see what I wanted or was going to do for dinner, and since I'd had another bad day I ordered a pizza and wings myself. My body is not liking that decision but that's OK.

Today: 139
Breakfast: Will be having cereal shortly
Lunch: Leftover pizza and wings
Dinner: Same
Must drink LOTS of water because I don't feel so good today. I'm sure it's a mix of the bad food and stress. If I still feel crappy this afternoon I may do some office supply shopping over lunch, wash my car, and work from home in the afternoon.

Also hoping to get a workout in today since so far I have not meaning my Challenge has started of really badly.

Oh and my dog got into the garage this morning and got into the insulation and lord knows what else. She seems fine and I think she just tore it up, I don't think she actually ate it but A is home and should keep an eye on her.

Plan for this weekend: Send her to doggy day care probably on Sunday and give the whole house a good full cleaning.

Update from the past few days:

I have steadily stayed at 139, but haven't done much for working out. Some walking and house cleaning. This month I am DETERMINED to do more! Perhaps starting the second job and being busier will force me to manage my time better and actually have time to workout.

Yesterday we went grocery shopping and got mostly good food. Bad stuff: Pizza Pops (for A not me, they are Three Meat and I don't eat pork so won't be tempted) and frozen fish sticks (it's the only fish I will eat LOL). We made some shish-kebabs - lamb, steak, mushrooms, green and red peppers. Was good! Also boxes potatoes (I don't care for them but we need to use them up). We both need to eat better, though I have been doing fairly well. I LOVE chocolate covered cherries and bought a box, but have been good eating only 1 a day (though I think I had 2 yesterday). I was in a very snacky mood last night but we had no cookies or chips in the house and I didn't want to make popcorn so I just drank my water and left it at that. Tempted to buy a bag of chips today, and I probably will if I go to the store but will put in into Ziploc bags immediately for smaller portions to keep me on track.

Lunch today will be leftovers for me, not sure what we will do for dinner yet. Probably toast and tea for breakfast. OH! I've been drinking tea at work with no sugar! GO ME!!! That is a HUGE accomplishment. Though at home and my moms I still tend to put some, but WAY less than I used to.

Sending Winter to doggy day care in about an hour and attempting the rest of the full house cleaning today. Only got through half the main floor before the Swiffer Vac battery died and I had to plug it in. Hopefully I get through more today and a few runs with the steam mop. Only 2 pads and will probably need to wash them both 2-3 times before I'm happy with how clean the floor is, though there are lots of other loads of laundry to do in the meantime too. Think I'm gonna get started on laundry and dishes while the boys are sleeping, and MAYBE I'll even do a quick workout after breakfast...maybe.

I am feeling pretty good today, and definitely determined. Let's hope that doesn't fade as the day/week/month go on!

Oh also we cleaned out our freezer. Some meats were in there way too long. And also our freezer isn't the best (can't even adjust the temp) and seems to freezer burn things fairly easily. Decided the only meats we buy to freeze will be chicken breast and ground beef. The rest will be bought fresh and only frozen if we don't need it all (like the steaks we bought yesterday, pack of 3 but only ended up needing 1 since we found lamb in the freezer that was still good).

Wow! Sounds like you have your hands full at the house today! I hope you get everything you plan on doing, done. You'll burn a bunch of extra calories doing all of that for sure! It might even help to push you past the 139 mark. Happy Cleaning!!! :)

Hi Icy, You made me laugh saying your freezer was a crappy one & doesn't even have an adjustment for temperature. I have never seen one that does! :blush5: To stop your meat etc getting freezer burn double wrap it. It's usually because it's not sealed properly. My husband & I usually cook a lot more of anything & freeze some in small plastic recycled containers & I just write on the top what they are. Curries, stews, pasta sauces or soups are great to freeze. It takes away the having to get take-out when you're too tired to cook. Even cooked rice freezes well. By getting into the habit of just cooking extra almost all the time, & then freezing some, it takes away the feeling that you have to be really organised to do it.
I can usually go lay my hands on some beef curry, chicken curry, vegetable curry, Bolognaise sauce, soup.....actually at the moment our stocks are a little low, so I have reminded myself by posting this. We have been pulling stuff out a lot lately & it's time to do some more cooking, instead of grabbing the reserves. Having cooked food in the freezer is much more useful when you're busy & once you're in the habit of cooking extra & freezing some, you will eat less & less unhealthy take away (as we call it in Aus.)

I almost forgot I was in your diary then & not mine. Whoops! We're both getting stuck into the house-cleaning. De-cluttering is SO good for you! xo Cate

Glad I made you laugh Cate :) pretty sure I've seen freezers with adjustable temps. Maybe I'm wrong and have lost my mind. Either way it is crappy and freezer burns things must faster than any other freezer I've ever had. I think I may need to start double wrapping.

We got a bunch of cleaning done, A finally went through the boxes in the basement. More mouse poop than he hoped, but not as much as he thought he'd find. Also since we got those plug in mouse repellant things (2-1 in each bedroom upstairs) we haven't seen or heard any mice anywhere in the house. Not sure if they are just more sneaky or what but I'm happy. There are still lots to go through from the boxes A pulled out, tons of paperwork to sort and likely shred.Haven't checked the bags of stuffed animals - I'm scared the mice got to them and there's poop in them. I don't want to toss them as I've been collecting them for like 10 years, keeping for potential future children, but if we must then we must :(

Didn't get to the kitchen counters or bathrooms, but got the floor done and did de-clutter and organize the stuff on the counters. Blizzard like weather today, might leave early but not before I work out! It's the last day it will be worth leaving early since as of tomorrow I start my second job. Tired today, hope to get a good sleep tonight so I'm ready to be out of the house for 15.5 hrs as of tomorrow. Leave at 8AM, up by 7AM (5:30 when A starts working again) and back home around 11:30PM. LONG days followed by busy busy weekends! Going on Saturday to purchase the kilts and rings and sash and all that fun stuff. Must make a list to ensure we do not forget anything we need!

But time to get back to work. Catch up on other diaries later.

Oh I forgot - I'm STILL at 139. GAH! So frustrating that I'm not losing, but at least I'm not gaining right?

If you want to spend the money, they have this neat plastic ziploc bags with a one way seal that comes with a pump. You put the meat in the bag, suck the air out to vacuum seal it, and then freeze. Stuff keeps close to forever that way. There's some frozen burgers from about 1974 in my freezer. Aging like a fine wine...

Just ate lunch. Had corn flakes for breakfast again and a tuna fish sandwich on whole wheat bread with celery in it. I like the added crunch and flavor :) Not a big fish person so it's either that or fish sticks hehe. Thought I would need another sandwich, but actually after sitting for a few more minutes I'm pretty full! Just gonna keep drinkin my water and see how the day goes. Have some cashews and almonds for a small snack later and so far have not touched the ketchup chips though I'm kinda craving some. Maybe in a couple hours after I've digested and done a workout that can be my treat. Counter productive I know but trying to keep the cravings down so I don't end up binging.

Almost 2pm and I've decided to leave work early. Last time I will be able to as I start my 2nd job tomorrow. Rather than doing a workout here I will do some cleaning and housework at home. I have not eaten a single chip, though I have been very tempted I have been good today. Kinda hungry so will snack on some fruits and/or veggies when I get home.

Ate some chips yesterday, but no real dinner. Made brownie in a cap - first one had too much oil so I tried again. Second time either too much oil or the brown? whole wheat? whatever flour that I used (all I had, mom gave it to me a while back) gave it still not the right taste. But better than the first! Also coulda been that instead of cocoa I used hot chocolate powder with those mini marshmallows in it. In the fridge and will be eaten today likely.

Because of the horrible weather/roads the training today was postponed for Thursday so I left work early and am working from home. Helped dig my FBIL out of the alley where he got stuck yesterday, dug myself a path this morning to avoid getting stuck in the alley myself, parked out front cuz I got stuck before the alley and said screw it, then shoveled a path outside the garage door (2-3ft pile up) and the side-walk (same think for part of the walk). After that my back and legs were sore. They are OK now but still, think that's enough of a workout for me today.

138.5 this morning. This up and down and really annoying! Hopefully I will get a workout in today but only time will tell. Have a bunch of work stuff I want to get done.

Back and shoulders hurt - in the good way - probably from all that heavy snow shoveling. Got 1.5 hours before work is done and still have stuff to do. Waiting for FedEx to pick up and then I just may do that low impact workout again and do some good stretches. Thinking we need to flip the bed, not upside down but head to foot rotate it. It's a pillow top so supposedly never needs to be flipped but I'm wondering if that may help us both sleep better.

Getting pretty motivated to lose this weight before the end of the year so I can start off the new year on a really good note. Getting more upset at myself for eating chips and chocolates and too much cheese and finding I'm craving fruits more for my sweets than the artificial sugars usually. Though after eating some Ketchup chips earlier I wanted a can of Coke, GAH! :banghead: But I had none so drank water instead :D Need to keep remember to take my iron pills as I hate being tired all the time again.

Also I posted these on another thread but should add here too. Can you believe on Sunday evening it was +2C and I had a green lawn? Pics below are from yesterday afternoon. Monday morning it was already snowy and icky.

My plan has been shut down :( 20 mins and FedEx guy still hasn't come so I have not been able to lock up and do any sort of workout. Guess it's just not meant to be today. Just hope the guy gets here soon! Got a headache and I wanna go home.

Icychic,
I cannot even imagine what it is like to live with snow, as the only time I have seen some was in the mountains 45 years ago and it was nothing like what you have..we had(slush)
How the hell do you go to work?
How does your car even start in the morning? Do you get frozen water pipes?
Sorry to ask so many Q's, but I just find it fascinating.
We are freezing here at 10 c.....bad days 7.

Hope your day got better, and I saw you mentioned Cheese....my big down fall, stay away from it if you can.
:waving:

Awe man! Hate it when others screw up your day! I hope you feel better, and can get back at it today! :)

Can't believe all that snow. I am a very bad New Englander, I hate the damn snow!!

Mrs Woods: No worries about all the questions :) The snow CAN be fun when you are playing in it when it isn't super cold with a horrible wind. Driving to work can suck, many people get stuck, it can be super icy as well. Good tires and careful driving will get you there safe, and attempting to avoid the side roads the first couple days until the plows get to them helps too when you can. I ALMOST got stuck a few times but always managed to get out of it :)
Cars generally have block heaters. That means when it gets cold you have a plug that you plug into an outlet on the outside of your house and it prevents the battery/engine or whatever from freezing so it starts. My car is from Ontario and actually does not have a block heater. While I could put one in it's been surprisingly good to me over the years! And I have had a garage over the last 4 years-ish which definitely helps :)
Frozen water pipes can be an issue. Our homes are not supposed to have water pipes on outside walls, and when they do they are WELL insulated - or should be. And we shut off the outside water (what you would use to water your lawns etc in summer) so that those don't freeze either.

For me I don't mind the snow/cold but one wish it got cold first, then snowed, and stayed cold. Otherwise the snow melts and freezes and becomes horrible ice. And even the cold isn't too bad, it's the wind that makes it 100x worse!

Holly: Day was OK I guess. FedEx guy was about 30mins late which meant I left late and got home late but it was OK. So far today has been unproductive LOL. Got about 2 hours to get a bunch of stuff done before I leave for training at the new job! must ensure I eat in just under 2 hours.

Was 138.5 again this morning :( Not looking good at all for my goals. Perhaps this new job will help me lose more weight too since I believe I will be walking lots and possibly doing some lifting.

Grew up in Chicago and lived there as an adult for a while. There are good reasons why I moved to Phoenix, and the cold and snow were near the top of the list.
