Here's my story

I think it's just a difference in culture that's why I'm not judging.
Like the Chinese eat cats and dogs but to us that's just not right.

Well, I doubt it only happen in France, it must happens everywhere, the only thing is for urban people it doesn't seem right, but, most of the people that live in village and are farmers or aware of it, drowning puppies doesn't seem to be a villain act anymore, first, the mother's dog doesn't remember it after 3 days ( which is ridiculous, after 3 days the mother has forgotten about what happened ) and then because it's better actually for the puppies most of the time.

I'm sure it happens all over. Your possibly right about it being more common with farmers and villagers etc.
it's not something I could do, Everyone has different views and opinions.
As I said... No judgement from me. We all do what we think best for ourselves and our circumstances.

It's actually hard for me not to make judgement as its just so sad,
But am I a hypocrite? I kill spiders and bugs all the time.

It's in the human nature to make judgement, even if you know that you'd better not make any judgement you still do, why do you think so many people hate on fat people?

According to Danish law it is legal to kill kittens and puppies if they are less than 7 days old, it must be done in a humane way and drowning is forbidden.
It's awful of course, but better than letting "unwanted" animals live.

What do you call humane way? Because drowning kill them under 10 seconds. ( when they're drown they're not even 20 minutes -born btw.

After some search, I've found that it's not illegal in France because dogs & pets are considered like being an object. Funny fact.

I don't know why drowning is forbidden, it's painful?
Humane way is hitting them hard in the head so they lose consciousness immediately, before putting them in plastic bag so they suffocate.

After having a moral debate with myself last night I came to the conclusion that I should keep an open mind.
While personally I think it's cruel to kill puppies, I am quite happy to have someone kill a cow so I can eat it. Does killing a cow make me a bad person... I don't think so but the Hindus may disagree.
I also read that this practice is still very common in most European countries, I couldn't see it happening in the bigger cities though.

Edit:: did you do your weigh in today?

Well, go hit 10 puppies in the back of their head and make sure it will be 10 fatal hits otherwise the puppies may suffer more than when he's drown.

If you put the 10 puppies in a water place that you close on the upside, there's no oxygen and they literally die within 10 seconds.

There was already a polemic about the method you're talking about, and it isn't described as humane in numerous countries and some of the meat brand has had severe problems with justice cause of this method, like the brand : charal

In fact, all of that thing is a matter of laws & culture.

It's law and culture yes, I just know that here one way is forbidden and the other recomended for doing an ethical kill of newborn animals. Perhaps it's the other way round in France. Act as your law tells you to and if it has no method forbidden you choose the way. I have used the other way in order to not do a Danish crime.
Killing is far better than having 10 unwanted animals which would become strays. It is naive to think that the humane killing is animal cruelty, no loving family of four is waiting for every single animal born, they have to be reduced, however having the adult animals fixed is to prefer. But accidents happen and one most act if so.

Yea, since we didn't want to fix our dog, we really paid attention during these 15 days of being in heat ( fortunately it's only 15 days ) but we still failed to keep her away from other males... I was walking her and I turned my head for like 10 seconds, enough time for her to go find another dog, I can't blame her obviously.

It's her nature and she cannot fight it. I think it is possible to have other contraception like injections or pills.

Hi Benny

The whole situation with the puppies must have been very difficult for you - and I am sure that you thought through all possible options carefully before dealing with things in this way. The mother is your pet and you are still coping with her aspects of the situation. I hope that she recovers quickly from things.

People do sometimes have difficulties in remembering that on a global forum means that their friends may well have different cultural backgrounds from themselves and see things in a different way. That does not mean to say that one way is right and another way is wrong...

Differing financial situations can come into play too...

My biggest concern is that you try and keep your weight control on track during what must be a very stressful time... Try to remember to weigh yourself today as that helps a lot of us stay on track... Exercise can be helpful in all sorts of ways too... How are you eating? What exercise are you doing today?

Let's close the debate now.

Thanks a lot for expressing your point of view :p

Well, I just came back from walking my dog, I'm not sure yet what I'm gonna do today, but I'm surely gonna walk her again in the evening, it became a strong habbit, I almost can't live without walking her at least once a day.
I still eat chocolate cereals like every morning with a little of milk and a coffee, recently I've been drinking soup every evening and trying to limit my food in-take for the lunch, I still don't eat anything in between, another habbit, I don't even think about eating anymore in between.
