Hi Melissa. Sorry I didn't get to reply to your other thread about the 5k run. I was out in the back woods all week, literally. I hope it went well. Tell us all about it when you get a chance. I've only done one as the last leg of my sprint triathlon I did back in May. I hope to do a 5K or 10K this Fall still or maybe next Spring.

P.S. Still looking might fine. ;)
 
Hello all! My 5K was yesterday. It went really really well. I actually ran the whole time... my average pace was 8.47per mile. I actually finished in 27:04 which is a personal best for me!

Yesterday is POURED all day... i mean buckets. it was also running during my race. There were 155 runners and i actually finished 54th out of 155!!! that is pretty good in my personal opinion That was the very first time i have ever done a 5K race. I had only ever run that much otherwise earlier this week when i practiced inside on a treadmill and i actually was about 40 seconds slower then.

I had a great run over all. The first mile was actually a little rough for me. I didnt think it would bother me... but i got a little emotional as soon as the gun went off..... i guess i just started thinking about my PapPap and got a bit choked up. Made me really wish that prostate cancer hadnt taken his life already and he could have been there to see me run in honor of him. But i did pull it together and finished strong. I am so thankful for that


and i wasnt really even tired..... which is very surprising to me!!!

anyways... thank you all for asking how things went..... means alot!!! :) i attached some pics of me with the people i know who ran. The guy ( pete) finished at 25:09.... then i finished at 27:04.... and the two girls crossed the finish line together at 30:25 i believe.

Thanks Derrick and Cord! It was alot of fun and i am SO GLAD that i decided to do it. Cannot wait for my next! Cord... i would LOVE to do a 10 K soon.... need to keep training so i can do it



Last night around 6:30 i decided to go down to the park and run a bit. There is a path that they have tracked out to be 1 1/4 miles. Its a challange for me because there are alot of inclines and straight up hills throughout the path. I ended up doing 3 3/4 miles on that last night which felt awesome!

I did learn one little tidbit that i am surprised i havent come across before: DO NOT RUN SHORTLY AFTER EATING. at least i cant. And... the weird thing is... it had been about two hours id say..... but holy cow.... did i get a belly ache. lost my dinner...... that was funny actually. Got a shower... got out of the shower... felt a bit nauseous.... felt i was going to vom..... and boy did i. Too bad i had just drank a full bottle of water... talk about projectile vomiting. So .... then i got BACK IN THE SHOWER......

yeah.... awesome story i know... very lady like story to tell HAHA!!! I dont care though i think its funny. I told my boyfriend i vomed all over my legs and had to get another shower.... he thought it was hilarious and said... babe, i am so proud of you thats awesome.


haha... ohhhh my.


going out to breakfast soon. My fav meal of the day! :) Ill stop in later today and let ya know how things went..... im not sure whats in store for workouts today.... had some intense running the last two days so im not sure what i am going to get into today.... maybe just weight training i think..... my legs and heart need a break maybe.

ou haven't reported on the weight loss in a while. Are you still trying to lose or are you happy at 125? You look outstanding whatever you decide, just curious. Keep it up!
 
M_Marie- Well done on your race! Btw you look absolutely gorgeous!! you remind me of the sweetvalley high twin girls :p

And I get that pain (stitch? I think thats what its called?) if I run after I eat!! I even get a stitch when I run sometimes without proper warm uP!! Or if i'm working out for the first time after ages.... dunno its some sort of muscle cramping I suppose. But i heard that breathing deeply releaves the pain!

Hey!! Thank you so much! I actually weighed myself last week and i was 124 on Monday...... and then thursday i was 126.... and got my period that night so WHO KNOOOOOWS.


Im still trying for 120-115..... we will see how it goes though! Just wanna be healthy! :)

Congrats on the race M.

You did great. I know I was a little emotional also when I ran my first race. But for different reasons. As I was just starting out I got a little choked up know how far I had came to get where I am at, and when I crossed the starting line, it all kinda hit me. It was a great feeling of accomplishment.
 
Hey guys! Not too much to report back to you all the last few days. Been just trying to be good about my eating and what not. Its been super tough while at work AND home lately.... made soooo much good food for my hunnies bday party... so all those left overs.... and then at work everyone seems to be bringing stuff in. For his bday i made Pumpkin dip ( 2 bars of cream cheese, 2 cups confec. sugar, 1 can of pumpkin), tandy cakes ( bag of choc chips, 3/4 cup PB, sugar, eggs, vanilla, flour) chicken corn soup, funfetti cup cakes, meatball subs. Then we have like 3 bags of chips and just crap everywhere at work. Someone brought in a bag of mini choc bars..... we have M&M's out the rear end.... UGHGHGHGGHH!!!! and chips and choc are my downfalls.... big time. Anyways.... did pretty well so far... had one small slip up last week... but the last two days ive done pretty well! Here is my food intake yesterday:

Breakfast: Large cup of coffee w/ cream and splenda, 1 pkt apple cinn oatmeal ( 130 cal)

snack- 1/2 tandy cake, 1 gingersnap w/ pumpkin dip

Lunch: 6 inch turkey sub from subway (280), light lays chips (70 cal), fuse green tea with ginseng and honey

snack- vanilla waffers (5) w/;; pumpkin dip

Dinner: whole wheat pasta w/ tomato sauce and 5 small meatballs, coke zero

snack- 5 plain lays chips


a few snackies along the way but nothing horendous. I worked a little late yesterday so i did not actually run or do too much with my workouts. I did hit the gym for about 30 minutes though and i actually did some weight assisted pull ups and dips. I also worked my chest with the chest press and i was actually did leg extensions and curls. That was my work out yesterday though... nothing too crazy.


Been a little mopey lately... maybe its mood swings... i am a girl after all.:toetap05: time to snap out of it though... ugh. my poor poor boyfriend. Had him up late last night just nitpicking at him about nothing... it was kind of mean of me. I apologized.... he is very forgiving... i just hate when i get like that. Thank you mother for that mean streak you have passed on to me lol!


anyways, scale said 125.2 yesterday so i am staying below that 126-128 range i couldnt seem to stay under... this is good news.:hurray:

:toetap05:Little bit bummed out this morning. I did my weekly measurements with my coworker…. My stomach measurements are up… by a good bit. This was within one week??? Last week my upper torso measured 26 ¼ and my lower was 27 ¾ . Well today my upper measured 27 ½ and my lower was 28 ½ . What the heck??? In one week?!?!! I mean the ONLY thing I can think that maybe caused this was I did do crazy eights last night and 6 inches….. which are ab exercises…… but I just don’t see how there is THAT much of a difference… whether it be being bloated or working out etc. we checked like 8 times too and it’s the correct measurements. I have been under 27” upper and 28” lower since middle of July now… what gives?!?! :cry: Kinda discouraging.

Weight hasn’t gone up either so I don’t know what the hell is going on. Ugh. Bummer!
Anyways, last night I did the circuit workout last night at the gym and also ran my 2 miles. I did abs as mentioned above. Crazy eights are a new one for me…… eight crunches feet on floor, eight knees bent, eight legs high in the air. EIGHT SETS OF THOSE 3 sets of eight= DEEEEATH. Whoooooooooa!

Food yesterday left a little bit to be desired… nothing terrible. Wait….. maybe im bloated from my burrito last night? Would bloating affect your upper torso also?

Sorry… this is annoying. Everyone says… don’t pay attention to the scale… take measurements… etc. well I did… and now look!!!!!! :rant:
