From My Couch To A 5K... And Beyond!

I googled it...

"Essential Fat"= 10% - 12%
"Athlete"= 14% - 20%
"Fitness"= 21% - 24%
"Acceptable"= 25% - 31%
"Obese"= 32% and higher.

Those standards are for women.

I wonder what you are if you are 13%?

So I'm even better off than "fitness", which also sounds really good!

Thanks, Steve!!! That makes me feel even better! :D

Male Standards:

"Essential Fat"= 2% - 4%
"Athlete"= 6% - 13%
"Fitness"= 14% - 17%
"Acceptable"= 18% - 25%
"Obese"= 25% and higher.

What a huge difference!!!!

Hee, hee. I think I might be barely "acceptable". :ack2: I'll take acceptable. Beats obese, which I've been forever. I'll have to get the caliper test done one of these days.

Caliper tests are great for tracking trends.

Not so much for getting a singular measurement... there's just too much error involved.

Yes, he did mention that the margin of error is like 2% - 3%...

I'm going to choose to believe that my measurement is accurate! :D

Besides, even if you add 3% to mine, it's still a good place to be! :)

That's the caliper's standard of error.

Once you add in the tester, it can be much, much greater.

Not trying to rain on your parade... I promise. Just making the point that it's really only good for tracking trends. Your pictures speak more than some stupid reading ever could anyhow... you look fantastic!

Ah, yes... unfortunately that makes total sense.

I'm going to believe that he knows what he's doing, and my percentage is somewhat accurate! :D

you asked about heart rate monitors int he visitor message section..

I have the polar pink f6 - downside to the pink is that the band has a very unlovely greyish tinge to it -that a lot of people have complained about... it doesnt' stay pink too long.

If you workout in a gym - definitely get the F6 -or higher - the feature that is in that model is the ability for the monitor to read only your chest strap unless it says it wil - it doesnt.. the cheaper models do not -and it can be a little bad to read sommoene else's chest strap... ( i spent an hour working iwth a personal trainer -her heart rate monitor (she had the F40 kept picking up my chest strap... so they are very sensitive... )

Hey there!

Boot camp has been going well! It's still tough, but we are making it through! I have still been losing weight, and James is at a new low as well! He's really excited! It's cute.

Wow Tyly! You have done and are doing so well--it's really impressive. I think I'm gonna have to hand over the name bikinibound to you, as I am far from a bikini atm..lol.

I'm pretty sure you would look hot as hell in one right now. Get over that shyness, and leap into that suit!! Then take pics and post them here--preferrably Weds so that we can all drool. :drool5: :D

That bootcamp would kick my ass--I could use a good ass-kicking. :D

You rock, my dear! :)

Hey! Way to go! Well done on sticking to such a hectic regime! How long is it going on for?

I just signed up for an indoor triathlon at my gym. It's 2km running, 5km cycling and 125m swimming... all indoors. Can't wait!

Thank you so much, BB! You have always been so supportive!

I am going to try on... dare I say it... bikinis today! Yikes! I know my body isn't 100% ready for one, but it's at least 90% there. If I find one I like, I will post pictures just for you!!! I'm really excited and nervous about it! I've been strutting around in my underwear all morning to prepare! :D I just don't want to be one of "those girls"... we've all seen them... the girls that squeeze themselves into a bikini, and everyone around is thinking the same thing: "She should not be wearing that!"

I don't even know when / if I will go swimming... if I find one I like I will be wearing it around the house everyday! :D I don't even want it for swimming... I just want it to prove to myself that I can wear it, ya know? I've never owned one after the age of 5, so having the confidence to do so would be huge! My legs are still big, and I have nude colored stretch marks on my lower hip, but those are imperfections that won't go away. They are also reminders of what I did to myself, and that I never, ever want to do it again!!!

That triathlon sounds awesome!!! Good for you!!!

Boot camp is going well, thanks for asking! It's much better now that summer school is over, and I don't have to rush home and shower and change in 15 minutes to make it to school on time! Now I can shower, then try to recover on my couch! :D
