From My Couch To A 5K... And Beyond!

Tyly,

I bet you could totally rock a bikini. You've lost so much weight and worked so hard for what you have, and we are our own worst critics. You probably don't realize how good you would actually look in a bikini :) Stretch marks are a part of life. They happen to most people. I even have some on my sides from when I was growing really fast, and got pretty big. Don't be too ashamed of them. They are your war wounds in a way. Like you said, they will remind you of how far you've come :)

I hope you do decide to go swimming when you finally get one. You've earned it. Fuck what other people would think if your not "perfect". You've worked your ass off (literally ;) ) and deserve to wear one with pride and be happy in it. It's one of the nice rewards for all the running, calorie counting, and now Boot Camp workouts that you've put yourself thru, right? :)

Take Care,
Sam

Thank you so much my sweet Sammyboy! :D

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the shopping trip. Not because I couldn't fit into them, but because I couldn't even find anything to try on!!! I would find a cute top, but no matching bottom, or vice versa. The selection was horrible! I went to Kohl's and Target, and both were very picked over. I'm well aware that I waited until a bad time, but I haven't been confident enough to try them on until now. James knew I was disappointed, so he said we can try some different stores tomorrow.

try victoria's secret online - they've been running some pretty good sales on their swimwear...

or if you've got a marshalls or tjmaxx near you - they've had some fairly decent swimwear as well - though now that the 4th is done - so is summer...

Uh oh, that doesn't sound good about the stores not having any bikinis. I went swimming this past weekend for the first time in a year, only to discover that my bottoms were too big (I guess I did lose a little weight after all!). I was planning on getting a new bathing suit, but now I don't know what I'll find. I have to find something that will do. I hope you have better luck tomorrow.

Summer is no where near over here in good ol' Texas! It will be summer here until September! :D

Thanks for the suggestions! :)

I'm sure you'll have more luck than I did! And congrats on the bottoms being too big!! :D

As always, thank you so very much!!! I made it my myspace profile picture for today. I feel like many with think it's dumb to put a planned, posed picture of yourself in a bikini, but it's not me trying to be hot/sexy/whatever... it's about be being proud of all my hard work!!!

very cute...
and very wearable... nice work :)

Thank you!!! I found it at Wal Mart! Lol! :D

Go check out my bikini picture! :D

Ok, moving on...

Just FYI...

Here's a day of boot camp:

We wake up at 4:30 to be there by 5:10. It starts at 5:15, and if you're late, you have to do 20 push ups in front of everyone. Seriously. James and I had to do it once.

We start off every day with stretches and a run. Some runs are longer than others, and some involve going up and down stairs. Yuck. It just depends on what she feels like that day!

After that, we meet at the pavilion to do arms or legs. We switch off what we work on each day.

Then, we do more running! This time instead of one continuous run, we do intervals. The sets are different each day, but they always, always, always include sprinting, jogging, and backwards running.

Next, we do interval stations on the pavilion. There are 4 stations, and each station has 2 exercises: 1 plyometric and 1 cardio, for a total of 8 exercises. We have to go to each station and do every exercise. She is timing us and tells us when to switch.

After interval stations come the drills. She sets up cones 30 yards apart. She gives us a series of several drills that include (but aren't limited to!) squats, lunges, frog jumps, side shuffles, etc. We have to do them until we reach the cone, and then we do them again until we are back at the original cone.

After that comes abs. She guides us through several ab exercises, and they change each time. At this point James and I are so excited, because after abs we stretch and go home!!

And that, my friends, is boot camp! :D

Do you wear a heart rate monitor? If so, what does your heart rate get up to. I find that to be my most limiting factor. I get to my max HR and have to slow down or... I don't know? Die? Don't want to find out. :D

Funny that you ask that, because I am on the hunt for one right now! I have been looking at the Polar models, and James has already told me he'd get me one. I'm guessing you have one... what kind? Do you like it? I was thinking either the Polar F4 or F6. Thoughts?

Uhm... I don't know. I got it off ebay two years ago for thirty bucks and it's worked really good for what I use it for. Basically just current HR and stop watch. No averages or time in zone or anything. Would be nice, but doesn't. The machines at the gym pick it up, too, which is cool. I saw the f11's yesterday going for $130. Thought that was a lot.

Good for you! If I looked even half as good as you do in a bikini, I would put it up as my profile pic on myspace too :D I think you should put this picture up against one of your before pictures when you were at your biggest. The difference would be so amazing to see side by side. You've really kicked into high gear in the past 6 months or so, it's very motivating :)

Please tell me where you have more work to do, b/c you look absolutely smoking hot in that thing. :drool5: I just might have to become a lesbian everyday and not just Weds..:D Seriously, if you wear that to the beach, James better bring a big stick to fend off all the men that are going to line up to hit on you. ;)

Yes, the F11 is a bit more expensive. The F4 goes for about $90, and the F6 goes for about $110. It's going to be my birthday present! Who would have thought I would want a heart rate monitor as a birthday present?! That would not have been the case even as recently as last year's birthday! Last year I asked for a birthday cake from Cold Stone Creamery, and we ate the entire thing that night!
