it was a weird early morning. a few months ago i let my car go so long the battery died and when i removed it to put it on a charger... as i recently discovered... it killed the power to the car's computer and apparently i have to drive 100-200 miles before it resets so i can pass a smog check. some days i wish i had my dumb Ford Falcon back.

one benefit from the virus is the time i can afford to garden this year... all the plants are looking good.
 
You obviously have a green thumb, Flyer. I have noticed most of your pots are terracotta. Do you have to water them more often? I think your veggies are out on some decking. They look great! I must get out in the garden more & get stuff in. It's almost Spring here.
 
over the past 10 years or so i seem to pick up 2-3 new pots/ yr, but only about 1/3 are terracotta. the ones above are two of the newest and are sort of a mixture where the bottom is glazed but the upper part isn't. aside from only a few, i have a saucer under every pot i can find one to fit which helps a little, but frankly we don't have many very hot days. this past week has been an exception, but it was still in the low 80's. we also have a fairly moderate humidity so that helps a bit, too. regardless, i try to be judicious with water. i'd rather skip a day until i see slightly drooping leaves. this year i also added about 25% Perlite to my regular potting soil. the one plant i had to dig up had the best root structure i've ever seen.
 
i didn't start tracking my weight loss until i was at 203 lbs on Oct 9th, 2018. i just discovered a picture of me taken a month earlier. i'm not going to post it, but i'm glad i have it as a reminder. probably the worst part is the memory i have of trying to justify my weight at a BMI bordering on obese. even sadder... even then i actually was in better shape than many of my friends.

I think less is more when it comes to watering too. I've killed more plants from over-watering than under-watering - that is for sure!
 
i saw this somewhere and gave it a try... cut out the chicken backbone completely and flatten out the bird before roasting. advantages... since it doesn't have the cavity, the roasting temperature can be pushed up to 400° and depending on the size, the cooking time is only about 60-90 minutes.

if i've mentioned this before, it's worth mentioning again.

it's been a while since i've run Belarc Advisor and while it isn't as thorough as previous versions, it will tell you a LOT about your computer including some security vulnerabilities & patches not installed along with a complete list of all the software loaded WITH many of the passwords for that software. this saved me a while back when MS updated my system overnight and deleted the version of MS Office i was using. there was a free upgrade, but the BelArc report was the only hard copy of the password for that software i luckily had.

it is free for download to any personal computer for a single user on that computer, though i would recommend running it again after an upgrade or every 6-8 months. if you are shy about downloading unknown software, ask a government employee. in my work experience, both the U.S. Army and the Navy use it.

perhaps a bit psychological, but i seem to fill up just as much on ½ of a sandwich.
i'll probably eat the other half in a few hours, but i can't really think of a downside.

as i was drinking a cup of coffee outside the grocery store this morning i came to realize just how much i never look at fashion on other men. most of the shorts i saw from the early morning crowd were just above the knee, but looked a bit long to me so i'm going to go with 2-3". i found a pair of old cutoffs... and i do mean OLD... even though they fit, i don't think they are even close to being in style even if i were in my 20's again. watch an old NBA game and you'll get the idea... :)
 
sometimes i wish i could split myself between two timelines so i could see the difference between making one choice or the other...

re: the "Useful tools..." string went dark today apparently, i had one last comment i could throw out.
this was one of my posts there...

"anyone know a source for a simple CLOTH (not like this POS synthetic/ plastic one) tape? not one of those tailor tapes with that big hunking thing at the end, ...just plain, white, 60". i can't believe this one is actually branded SINGER... weren't that a quality product at one time? of course it could be a knock-off, i'll give them that. it didn't lie flat after day one and it was even off (the end) by ~¼"."

good news...(for me)... thought i had lost my 40+ year old Sears cloth tape.
if you ever run across one of these... PAY ANY PRICE..!

i'm not sure what they used to make this tape... it feels like cloth, but maybe cloth that was coated in a very flexible and durable plastic-ish coating?

if people don't stop making crap that you throw out after a few uses, ... well, ... go to NetFlix and watch Wall-E.
