Even the most spectacular blaze is ignited by a single spark...

Wow, beautiful photos!! Makes me miss my home where it's greener... I hate living in the desert! Sounds like you had an amazing time!! I guess I'm lucky that both my parents are such health food nuts, used to hate it when I was a kid but it makes going home less terrifying. Although my mum does make some pretty killer desserts!! Love how proud your family was of you!

Ok, so I've started reading your diary and can't help but notice some things we have in common. Your first post mentioned "Dexter". I'm so hoping this is the vigilante serial killer blood spatter analyst I love and NOT the cartoon. :) I LOVE that show so much. My fiance and I just finished watching the fifth season on dvd, now we have to wait for the sixth season to come out on dvd because we don't have Showtime. Second, I too LOVE video games. I bought Battlefield 3 on Black Friday from Best Buy and am waiting for it to arrive on my doorstep any day now. I also picked up Batman Arkham City (This also came with the first Batman Game of the Year edition) and Driver San Francisco. I loved the first driver on playstation that I figured I had to give this one a shot.

I love your energy and your humor. You're very upbeat and motivated. Reading your diary makes me motivated and know that I can do this too. I'm not alone and there are so many other people who are trying to accomplish the same goal as me.

Check out my diary if you could, I'd love to hear from ya! :)

WOO Sparked! Sorry I haven't replied yet to your most recent post, but I finally got the time to go through journals tonight and YES! That is so awesome about your family's reaction! I knew you were going to knock it out of the park as soon as you walked through the door! :hurray: So happy for you!!

Good job on resisting that temptation while keeping your Mom's feelings in check
smile.gif
Let others pick them off - that's a great method! Something I've learned myself after cookies are left over from the occasional Sunday I buy them. My roommate and friends are always more than happy to save me from that temptation, hah :p I just have to be careful not to buy them on Saturday, otherwise they could disappear before I have a chance at them on my cheat day :]

LOVE the photos! Omg, I would love to buy a house someday near a creek bed like that. I love the calming sound of water and the little critters to look at while taking walks near it. The house I grew up on was just up the road from something like that! It had a beautiful stone bridge across it at one point! My cousin actually got engaged recently and proposed at that spot!
smile.gif
My Aunt hid at a distance and snapped pictures too! lol, I'd post them, but she doesn't have them on her facebook yet.

Anyway, so glad you're doing well, Sparked! And the compliments will only just keep rolling in as time goes on!

3.8lb down?? WHAT! I know you're holding off celebrating until it's official, but WOOHOO! NICE!! :hurray: :hurray:

Oh, and I guarantee there will come a time in the future when you and several other people will blaze passed my current speeds on the treadmill  My machine is locked at 12, but there are others out there that go as high as 14 and beyond!

Hey Girly! GREAT JOB with the weight loss! I can definitely tell a difference from your pictures! You are gorgeous! makes me want to take some pictures, but yours will put me to shame!

and I live about 40 miles west from the jack daniels distillery, and your pictures look just like my home! I have a creek that looks almost just like that in my back yard :) good ol' Tennessee!

lol and p90x.....I tried to jump into that on the very first day that I decided to lose weight... got about 1/4 way through it and said "F*CK THIS!" and went and sat on the couch and ate some

cheetos...lol..I was WAY out of shape then, and at 194 lbs at my shortness....psshht....it was BRUTAL....my ol' man walked in, it was still playing on the tv, and I was sitting on my couch with

my cheetos....and he laughed, sat down with me, and we watched it like it was a movie at the theaters, eating our cheetos..lol

But I am in MUCH better shape now...I have muscle in places I didnt even know existed! So I might give it a shot again, it would be a good option than the stuff I do everyday at the gym!

Eviesmommy, I can't tell you how many times I've done just that. It's way better watching the exercise from the couch! HAHA!

LOL! Well, unfortunately that doesn't provide the same benefit as participating :p

Kinda like how my roommate will scarf down a bag of chips and/or ice cream while watching The Biggest Loser, hehe

P90X is some serious stuff though - definitely ease into it! It's one of those things I think where you need to get in shape before really utilizing it. I'm in moderate ship and even I'm afraid to go near it right now :)

Um yes, aren't you supposed to eat pizza when The Biggest Loser is on? Pretty sure I automatically associate the two... oop...

But good for you for sticking to your guns and keeping things under control. :hurray: :hurray: Really proud of you hun.
I am kinda dreading christmas, i really don't want to gain but dont want to be dull and not have any of the goodies that will be everywhere. Hopefully we can find a happy medium AND we will all be here for each other to deal with the fallout in the new year.

Aww thanks Kate! For sure, if I could lose a pound for every time that my mom says, "it's ok, you need to celebrate during the holidays!", I'd be damn near at my goal! I don't know why "celebrate" has to be synonymous with shoving our faces with food!!

I had been dreading Thanksgiving for months, but I managed to come out unscathed! I think making yourself aware of the upcoming obstacle really helps and keeps you mindful of your goals, and we're strong, we can do it!! (and if we don't, you're right, we'll be here to kick the others ass back into it!)

I know, I love the green! I live in a big ol' cement covered city right now and it's such a nice break!

Definitely consider yourself lucky for healthnut parents! My mom is great, I think she taught me some really good values, but, the only thing that is that unfortunately she did teach me some not so stellar eating habits. She went through a really bad divorce when I was 4 and we just kinda started putting on weight together. Oh well, I'm hoping I can be healthnut enough for the both of us! :D

Hi Munch!!

Haha, yeah I totally love Dexter!! I always thought he was sexy as hell too, but then he had that affair, and well, I guess not so much now :p Now I don't know about you, but I was slightly disappointed with season 5 (my bf can't stand Julia Stiles and totally stopped watching), but just hold out, because so far season 6 has been awesome!! Um.. we don't have showtime either, but just watch it on the internet (unless anyone thinks that's stealing and then, yes, I mean I totally watch it on showtime :p)

It cracks me up how many girl gamers there are on this forum! Battlefield 3 has gotten some serious play in this house! You'll have to let me know what you think of Arkham City, we played Asylum and loved it!

I'm really flattered to hear you say my diary motivates you :) Of course you can do it! And you know, this forum really helps as long as you are honest and use it to keep yourself accountable. It has helped me so much, there have been so many times where I didn't eat something just because I didn't want to have to come on here and confess!

Thanks for writing, I'll definitely be stopping by your diary! :)

Good call on keeping the cookies out of the house till Sunday, cookies are a serious downfall of mine!

Yeah that creek is beautiful,I love to get out there and really explore it. My grandpa bought the land for all of us to build homes on actually! It's a massive piece of property, somewhere around 200 acres, and it has many levels, so there is room to build multiple homes on it and still not even be able to see each other! And yes, tons of critters! There are deer all the time, and amazing birds, and we even have had a family of woodchucks living in the back for a while, oh jeez and geckos galore... although, that kind of country livin also goes hand in hand with some of the most massive bugs you have ever seen :p I saw a spider there once with an abdomen nearly the size of my fist! But yeah, great place, it's funny because it's only been in our family for about the last 5 years, but yet it just completely feels like home to me.

Love to see the pics, bet it was beautiful.. and super romantic! I'm such a girl about that that kinda stuff :p

Oh and ya know what? The 3.8 held!! Soo..... YAY!!!! official happy dance time!!

Aww thanks so much Hannah! You should definitely post pictures, I think it really helps! And I am not anywhere close to rocking a size 9, so your pics would soooooooo put me to shame!!

So funny that you live so close to the Distillery! I used to know no one in TN, now I can say I do ;) Really love it there, it feels like an enitrely different planet from California... although sometimes they move just a little too slow for me there!

HAHA I laughed so freakin hard at the idea of you guys sitting on the couch watching P90X and eating cheetos!! I had been exercising for a while before I started it or I would have straight up laughed in Tony Horton's face on day one. I really do love it though, it's a great challenge. It's funny because your story is kind of what I go through every day when I do it because my totally skinny boyfriend will sit there eating a huge burger and fries while he watches me do P90X.... he's just sitting there on his ass while he says things like, "oh good job babe, I'm so proud of you" or making jokes about dinner and a show.... lol, what a punk ass! ;)

You should give it a shot, I'm seeing a big difference already, I actually have traps now!!

Oh Frogged, ya wimp! ;) hehe

Got back home yesterday, haven't worked out at all! :(

I got home late last night, but hadn't seen my boyfriend in a week and ended up going to bed even later. Then I had school and work all day today and after that was done the jet lag really hit! I went to take a nap at 8 pm and slept until 12!

I have finals Monday-Wednesday next week so I have to really get serious about studying here, so I think my workouts are going to be pretty sparse until finals. I also won't be around here much, I'm sorry I can't catch up on journals, but I gotta go get a move on studying!! Hopefully I can get some time this weekend, best of luck to all! :)

I'll confess, I too think he's is sexy. I tend to side with him all the time. Rita did dump him. I know that doesn't excuse what he did, but Dexter is not like all of us. Well, you know what I mean! lol. I'll just have to do some digging to try to find the sixth season on the internet. I'm terrible at trying to find that kinda stuff which is why I usually just wait for the dvd's.

I agree about there being an unusually high number of girl gamers on here, it's awesome! My copy of Battlefield STILL hasn't arrived. I'm climbing the walls wanting to play it. I've been fiddling around with Driver San Francisco, but am going to start playing Arkham Asylum pretty soon. It's the Game of the Year edition which means playing through it gets me a whole slew of new achievements. It's like watching the previous Harry Potter movie before another comes out, you just gotta refresh your memory on what's happening lol. Shouldn't take me long to get through it, then I'll begin Arkham City. I have finals starting next week, so after that I'm going to be going gaming crazy!

I hope your studying goes well! I think I read earlier in your diary that your some sort of science major? I'm sorry I can't remember exactly. It sounded WAAAAAAAAAY over my head! lol I'm terrible at science... and math!

I'm going to be taking an earth science class in the spring. I'm a little nervous. I have a 4.0 and will be so mad if science messes it up for me, lol!

Keep up the good work! Don't worry too much about your exercise this week, finals are only one week, but will have a very big impact!

AHeya sweetie.

Glad you have managed to maintain while away, that is really impressive. I am out eating and drinking a lot between now and christmas.....It is so so hard when i still actually wanna lose!!! I was aiming to lose that last 6lb by then.....Sigh!

Good luck with the exams sweetie. Xxx

That is fantastic that you have lost so much weight to make your mom and aunt's jaws drop! What a great reward for all the hard work you have put in!

Moms will be moms eh..they just want to spoil their kiddies..my mom always gives me leftover dim sum and junk food like that even if she knows I am trying to get fit.

Sounds like you have a lot of willpower - definitely need to learn from you...which reminds me I also have a Vitamix blender...i need to make use of that to make some healthy concoctions.

Keep it up darlin'!

Soooo jealous! I'd love to build a new house on terrain like that. Wow :\

I mean, my house sits among some trees, has a nice farmland view across the street with nothing but fields, and only a handful of neighbors, but still. That area looks beautiful!
smile.gif

Not sure if my Aunt is going to post them or not. They're not up on her Facebook as I type this, but I'll ask her if she'll put one or two up next time I see her. She set her camera to automatically take dozens of pics over the course of a few seconds, lol. She didn't want to miss a thing I guess!

Sparked and Munch, I LOVE Dexter too! My boyfriend and I don't have Showtime either, so we watch it online as well! Season 6 has been so good so far!

Munch- They can be hard to find online because a lot of the sites wont work but just go to google and type in 'watch season 6 dexter online', it's pretty easy to find the earlier episodes on there, the tricky part is finding each new one as it gets aired, at least for us! I'm curious at how Sparked finds it, maybe there's an easier way.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot that he had an affair on the show! I meant the actor, he was married to the woman that plays Deb, but then they got divorced because he had an affair - lol I'm not a celebrity gossip freak or anything, I just remember it was all over the magazines in the checkout aisle and I was like oh no, what did Dexter do!

haha, yeah I'm a genetics major, I love science and math.... but I utterly detest writing essays!! Nice on the 4.0, I cannot say the same! My classes are filled with mostly pre-meds so dang their uber-dedication, they totally mess with the curve! ;) I'm sure you'll do well in the earth science class, classes like that are mostly memorization (no math!) :)

Thanks for making that point about finals, it eases my guilt!!

And even if you do gain a little during the holidays- you've been losing those pounds ridiculously fast, you'll be back in no time!

Mmm, dim sum.... why did you do that?? ;)

You have a Vitamix?! Holy moses, one of those would pay my rent for a month, I'm so jealous!! You better get to using that thing! ;)

Yeah, it's pretty exciting, I've kinda got my ideas about the house all laid out too, now I just need to make the money! ;)

Your house sounds like it's in a really nice area! This property is seriously out in the middle of nowhere, you can go days without seeing another person! It cracks me up because a few miles down the road there is a small town with a population of, literally, 100 people, yet it has 4 different churches all within a few hundred feet of each other!! Haha, oh, the Bible Belt.

Hehe ohhhh now I've found what motivates you!! ;) I'm gonna hold you to that too!

Yay Dexter fans!! I watch it on Project Free TV here: http://www.free-tv-video-online.me/internet/dexter/season_6.html. Since I live on the west coast, I can usually watch it the night it airs, people get it up really fast!

I really need to be studying but I feel like if I don't throw something on here that it is going to be a really bad day food-wise. I don't know what's wrong with me lately, I'm usually crazy meticulous about everything I eat but for the past few days I have not been counting calories at all! I am in finals so that means I don't get to sleep much and I feel like I am always eating! It's all health food - well there was a moment of weakness where I indulged in a large hand full of my boyfriend's Captain Cruch (am I just sleepless, or did that sound inadvertently dirty? :p) - and it's been health food in the right portions, but it seems like it's been a lot of portions! I've probably been getting in about 1600 a day when I have been doing 1200. Writing that makes me feel really disappointed with my self. I've been eating that way since Wednesday.

I thought to motivate myself that I would do a picture update since I have been doing P90X and lost about 10lbs since the last update. But....

230, 221

Somehow I look fatter in the newest one!! How is that even possible?! I think maybe it's because the jeans I have in the last one are a size smaller and so they're doing that whole muffin top thing (I know, that's super attractive :p)

I think my face looks pretty much the same .. maybe I see a small difference but it could just be that I'm wearing make up in the second one... old, new

I don't know why I'm getting hit so hard with a case of frustration this week, I'm getting emotional and I'm not even a crier, maybe it's because the end of the year is nearing and I know I am not going to make the goal I set for myself. Also, something else kind of messed with me this week. My scale has a body fat % reader, we won't go into details, but when I first started losing weight, my % was over 50 (yuck) and now it's down in the 30's, I was relatively pleased with this because, well, it's a noticeable difference. So the other day I was, I don't know, feeling like I looked like I was down and I was kind of proud of my number, so out of curiosity I had my boyfriend get on the scale to see what his number was... do you know what it was?? 15%!!! That's almost in the athlete range and he doesn't ever do a damn thing! And I let him see me naked for christ's sake!! I should say that my bf has never said anything to make me feel bad about my weight, but still, my number is twice what his is and that just makes me feel a little weird. I know that what is healthy for a man is much different than what is healthy for a woman.. but still. I don't know why it's affecting me like this, it's not like we are any different size than we were last week, it's just numbers.

Sorry that this post has a decent dose of crazy mixed with touch of freak out... It's just kinda starting to get to me that I am only a little over halfway to where I want to be, and I feel a little defeated to have been working this hard for so long and to still be so overweight. I see people like Kate and Lucy and they're so close to their goal and look so crazy beautiful and I am just really ready to be there too! Grr, patience.

Ok, rant over, and I have to say, I do feel a little more prepared for my day. Forgive me the high emotions, I blame finals!!

Awww Sparked :) It sounds like you need a group e-hug! BIG GROUP HUG! :grouphug:

As for your new pics! *whistles*

And you do NOT look fatter! You look amazing! Sometimes I get confused as to why such attractive people are so hard on themselves, but then I reflect on some of the things I've written in my journal regarding my own appearance. It's true, we're our harshest critic. But you really do look gorgeous!
smile.gif

Now, I've never had a scale that measures body fat %. I always go by the number and how you actually feel. In my opinion, don't get disheartened by any result that pops up on that thing. Just keep doing what you've been doing and you WILL be fine! Trust me on that!
smile.gif

Drat.. now I'm hungry for Captain Crunch (the actual cereal, not whatever innuendo Sparked was referencing ;)), lol!

Thank ya, Sparked! :p

AHI Sparked..just dropping in...and wanted to say hi :)

Read a lot of you diary...and I too am a scale junkie.....I weigh myself at least 3 times a day! I know it bad but it is what it is :p

Your photography is really really good....I do a bit myself...but am more in the digital art type ( I have some on my page if you ever get the chance take a peek)...yours are organic and beautiful...very nice.

you look amazing......you are a knock out now.....god help those boys when you reach goal!! :)

Aw, Sparked! It's ok, you're doing amazing! Halfway there is so much better than if you had never started your weight loss at all. I totally know how you feel when it comes to your bf. My fiance is so skinny. I think about 120-125lbs. He can eat all day and it doesn't affect him. It's irritating for me, but I just have to remember, everyone's body is different. When I started dating him, oh.... 18 months ago? lol strange it's been that long, I was about 140-145lbs. Over the course of dating, I went up to 17x's. I'll attribute it to being happy and knowing I didn't need to look good for everyone. But also to the fact that I thought I could eat just the same that he could. This obviously wasn't true! lol

Also I have those days where I just break down and cry for NO reason. I'm pretty sure it's those raging hormones. YUCK! Just don't get down on yourself too much. I find during these times, indulging in something a little sweet really helps. I know my love for chocolate increases dramatically. Just be sure it's within your calories and no harm!

So I bookmarked that site you used. I'm so excited. My fiance and I watched the first episode on another site, but it cut us off with about 10 mins left. We'll be sure to use the website you have us this weekend. Oh, and I didn't know Michael C. Hall had an affair! OMG! I knew he was married to the girl who plays Deb, but I just assumed it didn't work out. You know how actors are and "falling in love on set" lol. I hate it when actors tarnish my reputation of them by doing something as stupid as that. Why can't people just come clean with their spouse instead of cheating? ARGH! Makes me mad! lol Anyways, I'll try to put that behind me while we watch season 6. I'm so glad you hinted at watching it online, because to be honest, I never would have thought of that. Mind you, my fiance and I watch football on the internet because I don't have cable! :p

And I know this post is super long, but just wanted to say that you look fantastic! Keep doing what your doing!

I hope you are feeling better.

I have felt like that before, I was pre-dental before finance. I remember going to the gym, showering, then getting to OCHEM feeling..."UGHH" all before 7AM. UGhh is a feeling ;-). I think the pressure of finals, dieting, exercising, and the holidays might have bombarded you. Find time to unwind, just decompress, I am sure you will better.
