Don't try this at home

Felt good too. Was certainly worked out but could have kept it going without issue.
It will slow back down when back to full weights program but I will keep working to improve it.

Cardio? This is my self-defence training. An old boxing coach once told me the best way to avoid getting knocked out by a punch was not be where it was landing, I am taking that a step further.
Always loved running, no idea why, especially when literally running to a point an back again, just feels good.
I find the better aerobic fitness improves my lifting to a point. Recovery is my weakness and this helps a lot. I enjoy both extremes full on power or long drag stamina, which is why I need to pull in some local endurance work, which I am not great at.

I was very glad to find that I would still be able to run when changed jobs. Used to run and cycle for commute but that was inner city job so breathing in smog every breath, now it's more rural so get better quality air, and less people getting in my way. One that was quite funny, I got wolf whistled from a car behind me when running recently, then heard laughing and the passenger pointing out I was 'really old' to ridicule the driver who if they were like the passenger would have been early twenties.

I am sure there must be a way for you to run if you want too, even if it's with your family going on a bike ride.

Didn't I see that you turned 40 in the last couple weeks? How is this "old"? Is that a UK thing? I don't know if it's just an "American" thing for younger woman to be into in shape older guys because they think they're smarter and won't treat them like crap, so I couldn't imagine two girls over here driving past a 40 year old out jogging and calling him old, especially if he's in shape.

I haven't got there yet, but it is very close. The passenger looked 20 to 22 tops, and I think the rear view was evidently better than the hairy balding middle aged man the front view revealled.
I am in shape with my training would be hard not to be, but I haven't worn well and when exerting myself running probably look closer to 50 than 40, especially with the growing pattern of grey body hair. Not really the stuff of a young girls dreams, possibly nightmares, which in fairness suits me fine.
Did give me a good laugh anyway. I like the confused compliments and have elicited a good number in my time. One I remember from single days was from someone saying I looked like an actor, don't remember who, then declaring she didn't like him much but liked me, and ended up with a confused look on her face.

Old is comparitive anyway. To them I would be old, to one of my son's school friends when he was in reception year 16 was really old and assigned to someone closer to pension age.

You know, running in the inner city with all that smog is good for lungs. You see, the smog -- like a barbell on your shoulders -- gives your lungs something more to adapt to, so that they can recover and become stronger. Since you're running around rural areas now, your lungs are going to get so weak and fragile without the stress of smog, so I guess the only sensible thing to do is to take up chain smoking -- how else are you going to get that great training stimulus?

It really is a very good job I know the sense of humour here, I would be worried otherwise. I live on the outskirts of a city and near two of the major motorways of the UK so smog is in plentiful supply unfortunately. Would be nice to think I can get some nice pink lungs instead of the grey mess that is undoubtedly inside me at some point but that will be years away if it does happen. Ryan knows how important it is to have something pink to train with.

I like having better quality air to run with, my lungs are my weakness so they need all the help they can get. I have a strong heart and the legs work well as long as they are fed with energy and oxygen, and therein lies my problem.
I have better lung capacity than most I have no doubt but I do remember having it checked and beign told that for someone as fit as I was my lung capacity was crap, subtlety wasn't their strength either. At the time I was not happy, but in fariness it did mean I stopped obsessing over distance running and started weights, so it worked out.

Anyway, starting to do my weights again this evening, and that will bring my times back into line.

Lungs really suffered with this one. In reality I should have just run slower from the start which I will do today as the humidity is if anything worse.
Centre of my chest was hurting for the rest of the day from trying to get more air in. As consequence on the run my body just stopped, no stitch etc. just total failure to continue.

Today's run will be steady out of necessity, and annoy me severely. But if I start with that in mind I should be OK. Of course if it desides to simply rain properly instead of raining then heating to make the air heavy I'll be OK.

I see you've become acquainted with my dumbbell set.

My wife had to contend with a couple of dumb belles last night. The sort easily replaced in DIY stores, where you can get less annoying twin packs of sealant.

I have trained in pink kit a few times, though in honesty never deliberately. I have issues identifying colours, especially flourescents and got a set of cycling shorts with bold pink strips down the outsides, which became dance shorts rapidly. Other stuff has been a case of yes I washed it with a red item, get over it. I don't care too much for the gender assignment of colours, just don't like pink in general.
There is someone near my home who rides around on a pink moped in full pink outfit. Likely sees herself as modern day Penelope Pitstop, rather than the potential roadkill everyone else does. Helped by the fact she proves daily that you don't have to be fast to be dangerous.

I have seen pictures of you using your pink dumbells from your blog. I notice your self portraits are very confusing, you seem to change gender, shape and size with oustanding frequency.

Good to see you got your full run in.

By self-portraits, I assume you mean ones like these?

Those are some good examples.

Found out why I wasn't able to train properly with weights last week. My epilepsy is sympomatic, meaing result of an injury. At some point I must have hit the same area as I found out when touching around it and felt pain. Every time my blood pressure was increasing when training I was going light headed because the body will have been protecting me from damaging this more.
The running wasn't as intense so I could still do that
There is a little bit of discomfort at the moment but I think it should be business as normal today.

You didn't just hurdle over the gates? Come on - you've got legs of steel, right? Plus, given your misspent youth, you should be good at the fast getaway and leaping obstacles.

Getting old now, I actually tend to open gates. These were the -) style gates that swing as you try to vault them or barbed wire topped jobs. Wife would not be happy if I messed up the vault, only two legs made of steel!
Problem with being a natural plodder, much happier just getting to pace and staying there. Boring I know.
I can do hurdler stretch but never even tried actual hurdles. Think it comes from being shown them at school when I was very short for my age, they reached my chest and scared the hell out of me.

I have an irrational fear of jumping over things so can relate. I can never get the imagery of catching toes/tripping/falling out of my head. One of our seldom used yard toys is an angled log for vaulting over. I should just do it regularly and I'd probably overcome the fear, but as it is, I have to start at such a stupidly low point and work my way up to waist level or higher - it just takes more time than I'm willing to give it.

Glad you are getting back to your regular workouts.

Today I ache from both squats and bench, running will be great today and deadlifts this evening will be oh so impressive.

I don't mind vaulting suff where i have a hand on, but hurdling not keen.
Good to be back under the weights. One likes to suffer, what.
