Diary of Semi-Neurotic Ex-Secretary Soon-to-be-Sexier Sophia

Hey Sophia, that's an awesome list; you're very honest with yourself and incredibly determined. Its inspiring! You'll be running again in no time!

I've started a back-to-running after injury program so I'm getting there too. Go Us! :cheers2:

Angelica : Yeah it is quite a list, eh!!! Sort of a night time delirium attack came over me.:ack2:

Yesterday I couldn't sleep for thinking about the TERRORS of spring/summer looming ahead, plus the 'man' thing..... and decided to write it all down. That should help to keep me in check when I feel myself 'wavering' from my goal. Cos that's NOT allowed.

I didn't know you could do 'Friends' on this board but now so it's all fixed. :) Thanks for the request {HuGS}....
Oh yep and thanks for compliment re: my avatar. That is me 2 yrs ago and 15 kgs lighter. So every time I log in here it's a heck of an incentive, I tell ya.!!!!!

Stacy (hickgurltx) : Thanks for stopping by!! Hope you're having a great day.:) :) You bet we're going to knock some pounds off, oh yeah! Best of luck and most important of all, let's enjoy the ride :driving:

Gen : Thanks so much for your kind words, it means a lot, really. {HUGS}
I'm sorry about your injury, that is truly sucky business,so I send you my biggest & best wishes of luck with your back to running programme.... and yeah, I too can't wait to start jogging again, except my reason is shallow & dead silly compared to yours (I don't think I look 'presentable' enough yet to get outside. Bah).
Really hope you get better very soon :Angel_anim:
I'll be checking out your progress and cheering you on :) And hey, cool, we are fellow UK-ers :seeya:

I thought I might take my measurements today since it's the 1st day of Six Week Challenge.

Well it was a pleasant surprise :) I am v. pleased about the progress:

Measurements 30th Jan 09 compared to today 23rd Feb 09:
Bust: 41 ......... 39 .....2" lost
Waist: 36 ......... 34 .....2" lost
Hips: 40 .......... 39 ...... 1" lost
Thigh: 23 ......... 20 ......2" lost

I also took extra measurements which I hadn't taken on the 30th Jan for my records, which are:
23 Feb (cont'd):
Pooch (I hate it so much): 38"
Bicep: 12"

^^ Well if I can just keep on going like that, I'll be one happy bunny :Angel_anim:

NICE inches lost!
mmm i cant find my measuring tape...
i was wanting to take measurements for the challenge as well...
i wish i had a picture of me slim... but that was before digital cameras...
and i am completely daft when it comes to that daggum scanner of my moms.

ahhh and it hasnt even been a month yet and you've lost sooooo many inches!
(haha that detail just hit me xD )

Thanks Sophia,

The truth is, I wasn't actually as injured as I thought. I thought I had stress fractures, but I just had bad shin splints. I rested for 2 weeks or so and I'm building up my time running very slowly. Painfully slowly as far as I'm concerned; I just want to GO and I have to walk again after 10 minutes. Oh well pushing myself wasn't getting me there any faster! lol

I'm actually American; I came here in August after getting married to my British hubby in June. Its great! :D

^^ Thanks Angelica hun {{HUGS}} yep I am dead chuffed about it.:bigear:
It's so nice to feel my jeans half falling down my butt, things like that. I can really feel a difference..... Nothing better than reaping rewards for all the hard work, eh!

Right, got to do the old accountability thing :

Food 23/02/09
Total cals 1,108
(not listing foods here, as doing that on Challenge thread)

Exercise 23/02/09
Nell McAndrew Ultimate Challenge (1 hr 20 mins)
^^ OK I am pleased.
All that perseverance has paid off, and I am finally at that place where my stamina and strength have increased so much that I am enjoying my workouts, actually getting a rush from them.

I don't have the huffing-puffing "feel like I'm going to die".. "can't bear this"... and swearing at the screen "you sadistic b****d" and so on, at all.

I'm loving it now more and more each time. This was my aim. I swear I am going to turn my body into a fat burning machine!!!! Oh Yeah baby.

Don't worry I Have not lost my marbles, that Nell M. fitness dvd always does leave me particularly euphoric.... must be 'cos of all the running in it (God I miss jogging!)

Oh yeah, also .... today reminded me how it's so much easier exercising the more weight you lose. If you think about it, high impact aerobic stuff is far more tiring when you're carrying an extra 5 kilos as opposed to not carrying them. Innit.:beerchug:

So I'm glad I've lost those wretched 5 kilos. Now I've got about 15 more to go (eeek!)

But yep, I can't wait to lose more cos it's all gonna get easier and easier.

So .......... a good day all in all, I think. Everything still under control, and I need to keep it that way.

Thanks Sophia,

Oooh cool, welcome to the UK then!!! :beerchug:
I hope you are enjoying it ... apart from the wretched weather, haha.

Listen I'm really glad to hear you aren't seriously injured, that's good news. So yeah I'm sure that in no time at all, you'll be back to your old form.

I know it's really tempting to just run like the wind (cos that feels fabulous doesn't it!!!!), but yep unfortunately you are right, you will have more effective results if you take it nice and slow.... as frustrating as that may be!!
But don't worry, you just take your time there and persevere and you will get there. And then you're gonna feel sooo fantastic. :)

I've been so flippin' busy I haven't even had a chance to read up on your journal and your situation, so I will hope to do that for sure... Thanks again for stopping by, enjoy your evening Gen :hug2:

Nice job on losing the 7 ins!! Woot woot!! I love it when the inches drop bc you can actually see the changes!! Anyways can't wait to get to know you throughout the challenge!!

Hey there Sophia!!! :D!!! Girl....you are so lucky to have been there already at one point in life! i think sometimes it's all so hard for me to grasp...being at 125 or 115 or anything close of that nature...cause I've never been there ...I ask myself stupid questions about being there, like "Will I look anorexic, will my bf think I look too skinny, will my ass go away, will I have TITS still...or will they convert to just NIPPLES :eek2:...Will I look like a boy?.....SEE ALL THE STUPID SHIT I ASK....hahah....LOL....working on eliminating stupid questions and just ANSWERING them with RESULTS!!! ;)!!!

....I want it now a lot too!! I hope to work out like you 6 days a week...if not everyday!! I'm so glad you joined the challenge!!!!!!

...and I loved :beating: your list...not for what it makes you feel, like shit, but because REALIZING that it does make us feel like shit is the way to change!!! Constant reminders or else we forget!!! :( Sucks about the booty calls!!! ...IMAGINE THOUGH...once you have that hot bod back, what type of booty calls are going to be around!!!!!!! CHEEEeeeeEEeoooooOOW!!!

What's up Sophia. Another challenge buddy here to wish you well.

I was just reading over that list you posted. I created a similar list myself. It's amazing how so many aspects of our lives can be impacted by weight gain. When I think of how long I have let my weight dictate my life I get angry... but then I think on it some more and get motivated!!! :D

Best of luck to ya!

Heeyyyy, Schwa.... nice to see you, thanks for popping by ! So great to meet new people. I too wish you the best of luck with the challenge! :jump::jump:

I'm glad you relate to the whole 'list' thing because it really does help to motivate doesn't it?!! to remind ourselves just what we're letting ourselves in for!

After all it doesn't make sense to make our life suck for the sake of a few measly moments of yumminess in our mouth ... and then it's all gone in 5 mins.:reddevil: Naaaaah.... not worth it!! Gotta be strong !

Hey take care there, and have a fab time on the challenge, I'm sure you'll do great!! Ooh and I like the whole bike thing, btw, very cool haha:):sifone:

Ty for dropping by and GL with the challenge!! Looks like you are off to a great start already congrat!!:coolgleamA:

Thanks Niapage :) :Angel_anim: I hope you do splendidly too !! :) :)

Well I had coffee with the ex and I said 'Wow, you know, exercise is so much easier without the extra 5 kilos I just lost .....I mean if you think about it, running on the spot & doing jumping jacks & stuff like in Nell McAndrew's DVD, for like half an hour is gonna hurt less without all that extra weight'

So he said "well hmmm..... then it's getting too easy, you ought to add some weights to your arms or something."

I nearly strangled him.

In the end I explained, -- after I nearly killed him --, that actually, the aim is to carry on what you are doing and get better and better at it so it is beneficial to you ... the aim is not to keep on making it so bloomin' difficult for yourself that you can't bloody DO it.

OMG you can tell that my ex just doesn't work out except sit on his stationary bike for 15 mins every 6 months.

I was just exasperated even though I was laughing my head off at how silly he was being .... cos honestly he was actually half serious about his suggestion, reason is I've got to the point where a really tough workout is not EASY.... it's easier, YES, but it's still hard work and I am still, YES, sweating like a pig....

however because I have less weight on me and have developed more muscle, I have better form, I perform better and do all the moves more correctly and my breathing is more controlled therefore cardiovascular improvement is taking place since I am not huffing and puffing to the point of hyperventilating. Rant almost over..... So because of this the workout is more effective, builds up my endurance and makes me stronger. Jeeeeesus.

Not to mention that I alternate my fitness videos anyway, rotating btwn Turbo Jam, Nell McAndrew and Slim in 6 so every muscle is getting used.

Anyway.....

Well today was my scheduled Rest Day, what a drag. Hate 'em.
Therefore hair wash instead. Takes about 5 years to wait for my hair to dry, anyway.

The pain you get from hunger pangs is far less potent and far less durable than the pain of not being able to wear light comfortable clothing in the summer and being jealous of all the people who can, and who are running around carefree in the sun.
The hunger pangs last 20 mins at max; the other pain can last for days & days.

^^ That's my 'Remember This' for today.

Hey Ivette :seeya:

Thanks for stopping by, lovely to see you!

I'm glad you liked my (slightly demented) quote..... hehe. You can tell I'm kind of obsessed with the whole 'summer/hot weather' thing can't you !! ugggh it sucks when you're just not ready to bare all -- or even in fact, just bare an ankle in my case!

I'm just remembering the sheer hell of last year and how jealous I was of girls in light skimpy clothes whilst I wanted to just cower behind a hedge. :leaving: Ahhh it's all crap that needs to be put behind me.

Anyway hey I'm so pleased that we're doing this challenge, I'm meeting some very cool people indeed, yourself included:)

Thanx for the compliment re: my diary title, haha I really thought it sounded batty at first, but there ya go!

I love your avatar pic btw, you look like such a cheerful gal, which I strive to be, but no matter what, I tend to remain a miserable old bint regardless. :banghead:

Soooo best of luck for the challenge, we're gonna kick some serious butt so our butts better watch out, eh!!
You're doing great already too, 12 lbs lost, that's fabulous stuff!

Take care & enjoy the ride .......... :) :driving:

Hey Stacy, thanks for dropping in, it's always nice to see your lovely smiley avatar, it really is :) Cheers me up, it does!

I'm glad to hear that your Day 2 is going great!!

Mine went just fine :)... thanks for asking .... it's 01.30 here in UK so Day 2's officially over for me.
But yeah, everything pretty much under control here.... appetite a little higher than I would like it to be but nothing that I can't handle.

Apart from that, generally been too whacked to do the journal-rounds today.
A bit miffed that I had a rest day, which bores me, but I'll be working out tomorrow, so it's not like TRAGIC or anything.

OK don't worry, I won't give you my entire life story....lol.

Take care and have a lovely rest of day/evening :)

Hey Sophia!! I am sure you hear it all the time but I really love the title of your diary!!!
I just wanted to drop in and say hi and wish you luck for this 6 week challenge we all bravely took on!
I know we can achieve so much if we all support each other and keep each other motivated!!!
Pfffft!! Forget the stupid ex's comment about your exercising. Good on you, keep up the hard work!
ciao!
kc :)
