Diary of Semi-Neurotic Ex-Secretary Soon-to-be-Sexier Sophia

Hey Sophia!! I am sure you hear it all the time but I really love the title of your diary!!!
I just wanted to drop in and say hi and wish you luck for this 6 week challenge we all bravely took on!
I know we can achieve so much if we all support each other and keep each other motivated!!!
Pfffft!! Forget the stupid ex's comment about your exercising. Good on you, keep up the hard work!
ciao!
kc :)
Hiya Wannabsexee - cool name I luv it -- thanks for your support and the compliment about the diary title, haha. :)

I wish you the best of luck too, and hope you do fantastically well. :newangel:

I think you are right in saying that the support on here will help immensely! hurray::hurray:

Yahhh, about my ex, actually the whole episode makes me laugh cos it shows how little he knows about fitness generally --
he's one of those lucky people who don't need to diet or work out, ya know what I mean.

But he felt rather sheepish when he realised his comment was a bit -err- silly. Haha. He does try to be helpful but sometimes it comes out all the opposite. Bless him.

I love your avatar btw - it's s-M-O-K-I-N'!!
Take care :) :)

Looking good, i am glad day 2 went ok for you
Hi Trusylver, :seeya:

thanks for popping in and cheering me on, all the support makes a big difference.

I hope you had a fabulous Days 1 and 2 and may the rest of the Super Challenge go marvellously for you too! :cheers2:

Best of luck & take care ! :) :)

Well here we are still hanging in there...

Today was difficult food-wise in that I had the munchies really badly, I mean just wanting to eat really bad foods (e.g. huge chinese takeaway, family-sized bar of Cadburys Dairy Milk, etc .... as you do).... arggghhhhh..... but I did not give in. No way Jose.
I'm staying strong. !!!!

Got my workout in, as well, so all going splendidly.... now if I can just keep this up it's all pretty hunky dory.

Accountabilty:

Food 25/02/09
1,093 Cals

Exercise 25/02/09
Slim in 6 Burn It Up (60 mins)
Woahhh Debbie Sieber you really kicked my butt today.
Why was this far harder today than last week, considering I had a rest day yesterday? The body is a weird and mysterious thing.
But I got through it fine, didn't have to stop or anything, and only swore at her once during the leg extension exercises which are universally hated. Go me :)

I got the total image that went with that of you cussing out the dvd exercise instructor, lol. I may have to try that...could be some good therapy if nobody heard me :X. Sorry you're having cravings. I'm necessarily wanting to eat unhealthy so much as I just want to eat...and eat...and eat some more, lol. Gonna have to go shopping tomorrow and stock back up on fruit. It's the only thing that keeps my calories down ;/. Anyway you're doin awesome. talk to you soon :) ~Lisa

YAY!!! That a girl!!! No giving in to these damn temptations!!!

That's exactly how I feel....I'm doing a fast right now, (a juicing/shake one) and I'm on DAY 10 today....I originally wanted to do 30 days, and I STILL DO......:biggrinjester: but you know...the mental demon cravings ....ugggg....

...today my cravings were: Grilled Steak
Shrimp Tacos
HUGE SALAD w/ nuts
Peanuts
Sushi & fish
(all of which are NOT VEGETARIAN )

....the ex is funny!!! I love how some people think they know so much sometimes, and at the OPENING OF THEIR MOUTH ...it's really apparent how little they know about the subject at all......

...I always wonder, like the other day, one of my bf's friends comes over and starts talking about restaurants this and restaurants that...and THIS IS HOW THEY RUN THEM, and this is how inspections go, and YOU ARE ALLOWED TO DO THIS and that.......MIND YOU, THE MAN IS NO CHEF, KNOWS HOW TO BARELY COOK...FAT SHIT ONLY TOO....HAS NEVER OWNED A BUSINESS, KNOWS NOTHING OF THE SORT, TALKS AS IF HE WENT TO CULINARY SCHOOL, (which he didn't) and GETS MAD, when ANYONE QUESTIONS HIS SKILLS AS A RESTAURANT OWNER :eek2:!!!......I mean....."HELLO MUTHA FUCKAAAA DO YOU NOT REALIZE YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT, and SOUND LIKE A COMPLETE DUMBASS!!!!?!?! :smilielol5:!!!!

....haha.....I GUESS NOT!!! PSH!!! Go figure......STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!!! :biggrinjester:

...We are so near in weight, I can't wait to get skinny minny with you!! ;)!

whoooh girl^^
you are getting quite a support group =P
it really does make a difference though when you KNOW
lots of people are keeping an eye on you and your
progress! and really truly care that you do succeed =D

which we both know you will!
your such an awesome chick ^^

Can i join this support group here too then?! HAH

Heyyyy Sophia, reading your diary you seem to being doing great!, I laughed hard about what your EX said haha, imagine.. losing all your weight then getting on the tread with the weight you lost on your back OMG I'd collapse after 1minute!

Anyway best of luck with the 6week challenge, it's so fun doing it with you all :D

~dom

Your work outs look great:DI read your list my only complaint is how you keep calling yourself fat:(I mean I am in no place to call you out on it but ya:)LOL

2 guys from your past huh...that is crazy and cool:)

^^^ Ooh thanks for all the pop-in's guys, it really means a lot.

I got the total image that went with that of you cussing out the dvd exercise instructor, lol. I may have to try that...could be some good therapy if nobody heard me :X. Sorry you're having cravings. Hey Lisa, :hug2: always lovely to see you especially your avatar which makes my heart melt, bless that lil' pup.
Yeah.... cussing out instructors on DVD's --- it's gotta be done.

Very cathartic and also luckily the walls in this block of flats are very thick. Not that I do it loudly I just growl under my breath in v. unladylike manner.

Debbie Sieber's a star but, after 2700 leg extensions, she'll say on the last one: OK HOLD THAT LAST LEG UP JUST UP A BIT FOR A FEW SECONDS. UP UP UP!!! And I'm like damn it woman i've been pushing that leg up for like 60 hours here, give me a break.
Ahhh anyway. It's all good fun really.

Looks like you are still doing very fine with your flex calorie system - sorry about the pizza episode though! - so you just carry on there, cos you're doing great :):)

Alta - Ahhhhhh I hadn't realised we were so close in weight - and height, I think, too? Cooool! It'll be a race to the finish then........! nah I'm kidding really, I can't deal with more pressure like that, lol.

Yeah the demon cravings suck. :reddevil: I gotta list mine too:

Chicken satay skewers
Special fried rice
Chicken in black bean sauce
Japanese teriyaki chicken
Mexican fajitas with guacamole, salsa, sour cream etc.

Oh god no I'm salivating, lol... better stop .....

Luckily I have zero cravings today, so HURRAH FOR ME.

Anyway..... yeah we will indeed be skinny minnies together --- infact we'll be total hardbodies (err to quote Patrick Bateman).... and then we'll be like: Guys ...... please, form an orderly queue ..... & silence at the back!!

Haha, well we can dream.

Dom - You are more than welcome here any time, of course, are ya kidding? I'm glad you got my point about my ex's comment which I still take the mickey out of him for. Haha.
I think if I'm not mistaken (i'm a bit pushed for time here) that you're a super athlete heavy exerciser and doing great progress, so good for you and keep it up! I'll pop in and check on you later ;)

Cinderelly - Thanks for popping in and the encouragment...

yeah about the 'fat' thing, well the reason is:
I have to be brutally honest with myself, otherwise it doesn't work. My good intentions don't enter my thick skull and I continue making the same mistakes.
It's no good saying Ahh I'll be alright I'm just err chubby/overweight so there's no real rush, because NOOOO that's not true. I only have a few months left before summer (God help me). The reality is I'm 15 kilos overweight and that is a LoT.

I'm not dissing anyone who is heavier than that, in my mind we are all in the same boat, but we have to look reality in the eye and face up to the fact that we've got to make changes otherwise we'll just amble along like this forever miserably.

I am sure my method won't work for everyone, but in my case I HAVe to be very strict and call a spade a spade, and then I can make progress cos I understand that the situation is serious and needs to be acted on ASAP.

Thanks for saying my workouts look great, yeah they are brill!! I would recommend them to anyone - to save boredom I mix them up in a special 'rotation' of mine, and that way you never overuse/strain muscles or get your body too used to doing the same thing.

Angelica -- thanks for stopping by, always lovely to see you :Angel_anim:, and no you're the awesome one, so I think you got that the wrong way round :)
And your progress is stunning so keep at it, chicky, cos you're gonna be so freakin petite and sexy (well more than you are) if you keep this up... ya better believe it!!

Take care guys :) Thanks again so much for the support :grouphug:

Right, soooo... gotta do the ol' accountability thing.

Food 26/02/09

Turbo Jam - Cardio Party 2 (40 mins)
Well, having done Cardio party 1 so many times, I promoted myself to Cardio party 2, oh yeah.
Great stuff. I think I fluffed the moves only like 3 times, which is pretty good, other than that I've got it down pat almost instantly. I think I'm used to the style now.
I LOVE Chalene, my goddess, she is a miracle sent down from heaven to guide me and motivate me to exercise with most fun workout in town -- not to mention the craziest fastest combinations of punch kick jam and turbo's which I could never do without her!! She's a veritable star.
So anyway yep, that was, as with all TJ workouts: hard work but HUGE major fun. Loved it.

Lol, I LOVE the title of diary....and I LOVE this quote:::

"The pain you get from hunger pangs is far less potent and far less durable than the pain of not being able to wear light comfortable clothing in the summer and being jealous of all the people who can, and who are running around carefree in the sun.
The hunger pangs last 20 mins at max; the other pain can last for days & days."

I just wish I was going to be down to my goal weight by THIS summer, but next summer it is ON!

Great job! Keep up the good work!

sophia... you mentioned turbo jam in my diary...ha
what is it about?!? i looked it up on amazon.
is it strength or cardio?! what would you recommend
for me... since im a beginner =P

(omgosh it took me forever!! silly kitten kept getting
on my laptop, biting my fingers... i keep tossing her
across the bed but she runs right back over....
woooh my mom took her away... my fingers are free!)

Hey Felicity, glad you like the title and the quote ... it's so, so, so true, though, isn't it??? I mean about the pain and embarrassment and jealousy and all the rest of it lasting so much longer than hunger. It can easily last an entire season... so which is worst?!!!! :)

I do hope you manage to at least get somewhat closer to your goal by this summer ... if you put things into action right now you can do it!

I am really hoping to look halfway presentable by at least June, that's why I can't afford to let up for even one minute with my diet/exercise routine. I REFUSE to have a miserable summer like I did last year.

If I'm not mistaken you've just joined? Welcome to the forum and I hope you find it helpful and find inspiration for whatever you wish to achieve !:Angel_anim:

Aww that's so cute about your kitten, I'm so jealous of people with pets (can't have any pets where I live, bahhh),

OK about Turbo Jam, if you go to beachbody.com, there is all the info you need...

plus there are some tasters on YouTube ... for example:

Infact I realised the entire Cardio Party Mix 1 is has been uploaded on YouTube so check it out:)

There are several turbo jam workout DVDs. You start with the the Beginners set then progress to Extreme Results.

But I'll just break it down to the fact that it is THE most fun workout I have ever done. The enthusiasm and energy of the crew working out and Chalene herself, is MIND BLOWING.

It seems very fast at first, but you do pick up the moves quite quickly. It's also a good idea to do the first DVD called Learn & Burn to figure out how to do them properly first.

Basically it is a lot of jabs, hooks, cross punches, kicks and you have a turbo bit in the middle which is very fast but lots of fun... it's not dancy exactly but it is a routine with a lot of kickbox-style stuff mixed in. And the music is fantastic, which makes a helluva difference from the usual elevator-style music in fitness vids.

Also check out the Turbo Jam Message Board --
loads of members posting their AMAZING results, losing loads or pounds and inches.

I highly recommend it. :Angel_anim:

Hey Sophia,
Your Turbo Jam you do sounds a lot like the class we do over here called Body Attack.Moves and stuff sound very similar.
I hope you a cruising through week one with no dramas!! Keep it up!!

kc :)

Hey KC :seeya:

Thanks for stopping by!

Well if your Body Attack is anything like TJ then it must be great fun.

Gosh I really miss going to classes at the gym instead of doing fitness vids so I'm v. jealous. It really makes a diff. with all the atmosphere & all that.

I used to go to this amazing Circuit Training class a few yrs ago (lasting 1 hour and a half) with a huge Boxercise section in it, about 30-40 people would turn up each time, amazing stuff, and it used to give me such a HIGH , I could cry about it now.

Well that was before I moved away.
There are no gyms near where I live now, which is pathetic considering I'm so near central London, but that's life. Mind you I'm not sure I'm presentable at any gym yet, in my current state... ie fat sweaty and generally not v. appetising.:ack2:

Eh, well yeah anyway I do hope Angelica thinks about taking up TJ because it really does blast your body into shape. Plus it's fun, not the usual repetitious boring junk.

Hey I hope your Challenge is going fabulously --- you take it easy and have a great day :) :)

is turbo jam what you do ? I hear ya about what you are saying ie fat and being honest with yourself i just dont like hearing it, LOL!

Turbo Jam interests me...you hear alot of good things abt it.Im happy you have found what works for you and switching things up is a smart route to go.You dont get bored or over work muscels:)

:cheers2:Hey Sophia,
I have heard a lot of peeps bring up the turbo jam stuff. I was thinking of doing something like that, but I would probably get bored. Its stinks, no attention apan whatsoever.

but I can walk and there is a hill and I am going to go for it. Wouldnt work to try....

ttylater hun
always
Natsky, ps, I hope you are having a good week and have an awexome weekend!!

Hey Cinderelly :waving: thanks for popping by, always a pleasure :)

Yep, Turbo Jam is what I do, amongst other stuff ... I alternate between 3 workouts, i.e.
Turbo Jam, Slim in 6 and Nell McAndrew's Ultimate Challenge and I rotate them.
That way, yep, you don't overstrain or get your body too used to anything so it doesn't work as hard anymore.

Turbo Jam is excellent because you get a full body workout since it has lots of different DVD's, for example:

Ab Jam (entire session devoted to abs - one half standing, one half lying down)
Cardio Party (cardio, obv.)
Turbo Sculpt (entire session devoted to strength training, using hand weights/resistance bands)
20 min workout (cardio)

Then you move on to the more advanced stuff which has even more variety.

So yeah you get a real all-round body workout with it. And it's just so much fun.

I know what you mean about not liking the word 'fat' being used, and it is hard I know but sometimes people like me have to be frank towards ourselves or we don't realise the urgency of the situation. i.e. something has to be done --- not tomorrow, not next week, but now!!!

Have a good evening, take care :) :)

Hey Natsky, :waving:
Long time no see... I wondered where you had disappeared to cos I didn't see much action on your diary lately.

I hope you are doing well, and as far as those hills are concerned, you're going to conquer them, yes you are, because I know you have the motivation to do it. Well done with all your walking- keep it up!!:cheers2:

Oh as for your low concentration span-- I have the world's most abysmal boredom threshold and I am NO WAY bored with Turbo Jam.

So seriously you should consider it. It really is different from other workouts, which are all like: 15 lunges on one leg, change leg and repeat; now 15 leg lifts on one leg, change leg and repeat.

Bo---ooring.

OK, I'll admit my Slim in 6 DVD is like that, but I grudgingly do it cos I heard it gives GREAT results, and I just mute Debbie's counting of reps & play my own music... it's easier to get through it with Lady GaGa blaring out of my speakers.

Anyway... sorry for rambling... I hope you have a fab weekend yourself, and keep hanging on in there, don't give up OK!

We are all in it for the long haul and by gosh we're going to see how much it was worth it, in the end!!:hurray:

Take care : {HUGS}

Argh I'm wrecked today... as soon as it gets warmer my blood pressure goes waaaaaay down, really sucks. Even just 3 degrees warmer can do it. Pretty pathetic. Was like spring today and it's only Feb.
I hate spring (I am the opposite of everything normal).
But,... am I gonna let that affect my motivation? hell no.
Got my workout in like a good girl and stuck to diet no probs. Even got slightly inventive and had boiled potato instead of my usual bread. Woaaah, 'citing eh.

Well gotta keeeeeep it going.

It's hard sometimes, yeah, but by God I'm going to look back in a few months time and think "Thank the Lord I did not just give in all those times when I was totally fed up & exhausted, cos look at me now"... :willy_nilly: Thats assuming I get slimmer and generally yummier in a few months' time cos you never can tell with diets, how it's all gonna pan out.

Anyway, achieved today:

Food 27/02/09
Total cals 1,136

Exercise 27/02/09
Slim in 6 Burn It Up (60 mins)
Debbie killed me again. But the much dreaded leg exercises are getting easy as pie... so there!!!!! I got through it, no problem -- had to do it, and so I did it, and I didn't die even though blood pressure at zero and feeling like sh*te. That's what counts.

... hope everyone out there doing fab and having a great evening & all the Super Challengers feeling strong and doing great. Cheers Ears :cheers2:

Well, today my ex said 'When I came to pick you up today, you looked all tiny. Are you losing weight or something?'
My ex is the king of irony (that's why he makes me laugh a lot), but that traslates to: I know you're on a diet and I can see it's working.
Yay!!! :)

Also.... yesterday, my ex's Ex Wife (confusing I know) stopped by to join us at the cafe' briefly and later told my ex that I was looking really good and that it looked like I'd lost weight. So ... very cool. Yay again !

And thirdly, my jeans were getting so baggy I tried my next-size-down Gap jeans and they fit FINE. Fabulous stuff.

So today I was wearing my size 8's instead of my size 10's (although note that Gap has a weird sizing system, so I'm not really a size 8 - tho I sure wish I was).

Wow it feels good to get results like these. Makes all the hard work worth it.

Exercise today 28/02/09
Turbo Jam - Turbo Sculpt (40 mins)
Turbo Jam - Ab Jam (20 mins)
Oh yeah, baby bring it on, my legs are becoming like steel I swear :) and my butt...... let's not even go there.. could crack nuts with it. Hahaha not really, but well almost.:sifone:

Food 28/02/09
Ate exactly the same as yesterday Total cals 1,136

So after my crappy day yesterday cos my blood pressure was so low, I feel lots better (it was a bit cooler weather-wise today), energy levels good and in a fine mood. :)

Hope everyone else enjoying their weekend :Angel_anim:
