My advice, ladies, is forget the treadmill!

Wait--weather notwithstanding. Outside is much nicer IMO. I hate running on the treadmill and I dislike running on a track--but trails don't mark distance, so I never really know how far/fast I'm going--which the treadmill will tell you--unless there's an accident: )

Indeed! It's much nicer outside. I personally love getting fresh air :), but I'm not big on running .

Deanne, do you know what chest pain and tingling sensation in an arm means when all tests say nothing is wrong? I know you're going to med school (CONGRATS:) )

Typically, that's a sign of a heart attack or acute angina. Angina being when the heart isn't getting enough oxygen, but the cells aren't actually dying from lack of oxygen. If it happens during exercise and goes away when you rest, then it's not considered to be too serious. On the other hand, if it happens for no apparent reason and is unpredictable, it usually indicates that there is some sort of blockage somewhere. I'm wondering what tests they did exactly. Do you know if they did an angiogram? It's possible in her case that it's related to her smoking. It's fairly common in heavy smokers because cigarettes constrict the blood vessels, gunk up your lungs and bind up the oxygen in your blood with other chemicals. It's a triple whammy on the amount of oxygen getting to your heart. I'm glad to hear that she's doing well and nothing serious appears to be wrong. That's wonderful! :)

Good luck with your midterm tonight!

Tgif!

:) Well well. This morning I weighed....

137.0

:D

I was 137.0 last before my period on April 5th, which is customary for my body, I've found, to drop to a "new low" right before it spikes up...then comes back down further. It is highly likely that I will drop to as low as 135 before my next period. It seems as if plateaus aren't really an issue. Granted, every month my weight sticks around a 3-lb range for about 10 days--if I'm still losing 5 lbs every month I don't consider that a real plateau.

Yesterday I had my midterm, and I suspect I got probably in the 85-89% range (hard test!!) which I'm happy about--we'll see, though. My sweet boyfriend made dinner--fish wraps and lettuce. I finished off my bottle of almond sparkling wine and pulled out a bottle of Clairebourne and Churchill Dry Gewerstraminer--the BF loved it!
Anyway, I ate 2517 calories yesterday  Damn, it was good :) And I drop a pound? I think Kim is right: my body has turned into a fat-burning MACHINE.

Look here, according to everything out there, for my height and weight and activity level I need up to 2400 calories a day. But my deficets are not enough to warrant the weight loss I'm experiencing. Take a second look: I weight train for an hour twice a week, with as heavy weights as possible. This makes my metabolism higher. Then, I do HIIT with kickboe (we do everything from jump-kicks for 2 minutes to squats for 3 minutes, and all sorts of shit). This is ALSO supposed to increase my resting metabolism. THEN, I run for 45-50 minutes, intensely, up hills, sprints and such. Once again, this activity is supposed to make me hum like a humming bird. Throw in 2-3 running days and maybe a class at my gym, and notice I usually work out 6 days a week--sometimes 7, sometimes 5 when I go away on weekends--and even then I make sure to walk around or hike or something! Can you blame be for being hungry?!?!?!?

This all leads me to believe that my body truly needs nourishment--and I'm eting pretty right on. If I ate a lot less, I think I'd be too worn out to do the things I do. I can stand to eat less, though. Today my plans are:

eat less
try to get a 2nd job
pay bills
go out in a sexy outfit ;) I deserve it!

My stomach is flatter and defined, my arms are streamlined...i won't talk about my butt--but let me tell you one thing, I'm very satisfied with it :)

One issue: my poor boyfriend is stressed with his mom's health, his foster brother's going back to Iraq, and he got a ticket a few months ago for running a red light (heavy traffic thing, cop was just being a dick). He's worried about money. All this has put a huge damper on his libido. Also, at night he cuddles way different--he buries his face in my breasts, wrapped himself around me and sqeezes me so tight it's suffocating! Then he tells me his love for me is overwhelming. It's sweet, but he doesn't normally act like that--I pointed it out and he agreed, he needs to be cuddled right now--and I want to be there for him. But he's not horny. I am. It's ok, he'll relax soon and be up to par again. I feel sorry for him! :(

Anyway, I better go work...

137 - good for you! Sorry your bf's so stressed out, though.

Your workouts sound incredible. Your metabolism is in high gear, too. Way to go!

Valerie (Curves) :) Your doing great on your workouts, I know your body is just burning everything you put in it right now, since you have so much muscle, it's just killing those calories, that's just awesome!! That's how everyone wants their bodies to work, I know I do!! :D You know I see you eat a lot of fish, I wish I could force myself to do that, I hate fish, well not exactly, I hate Fresh water fish. I love shell fish!! Any suggestions?? I like tuna too. I just have a hard time bringing fish into my diet, but I know the benefits would be HUGE! I also want to note that your BF is sweet, and he needs your love and hugs right now. You know sometimes even men need to switch roles in a relationship when things are going bad. I think it's sweet, and I think your just the person to give him this support right now. I'm sure it won't last for very long, so I wouldn't let it get you down. We all go through the blahs every now and again, women more so then men I think, but usually with men, it doesn't last as long. Take care of your man as he took care of you not so long ago I believe. ;)
Kim

hey val great for 137 :D:D you're really kicking ass, and look gorgeous :D
thank you so much for being there for me, your support really means a lot to me.

sorry your bf is so stressed. my bf was experiencing similar things a year ago. i sometimes had a feeling he wants to melt with me that's how much he needed to feel loved. i really hope everything is ok with his mom.

hugs,
Lena

Wow your exercise made me so tired I think I will skip out on mine!!:D

Just kidding. I have been doing yard work for the last 3 hrs. so I got in a pretty good workout. I'm glad you have done so well!!:)

yup, outside is nicer (most of the time). And I like being out of doors and taking my 4 mile jaunt outside on a weekend day. But for me, my life and work schedule (I get up before 5 am to workout)...the treadmill is the best tool I have to get daily excercise. Plus, right now...the treadmill is my taskmaster :D ...I have no excuse..(it's raining, snowing, cold, hot....). Nope....It's there....waiting. I love my treadmill--I don't think I will ever be without one. :)

:) Well well. This morning I weighed....

137.0

:D

CONGRATS ON THAT NUMBER, VALERIE! Seriously...you are amazing! I second the comment that your workouts make me tired just reading them! :D

Obviously your body does need those calories with all that you do every day.

Take care of your sweet BF....he must need your TLC right now...with so much to worry about with his mom, I am sure his mind is pre-occupied....poor guy. Hang in there girl.... :)

I LOVE shellfish! Shrimp! Mussels! Clams! Scallops! Crab! Lobster! Etc! Try this recipe, it's a little plain but delicious and low-calorie: try to find whole wheat angel hair pasta if possible:

The BF is a doll! And yes, I'm supporting him 100%, despite my animal urges to jump his bones. He says he's really glad to have me help him through this--what a sweetie! Here's a pic of him all cute in his silly tuxedo shirt:

Big hgs back! Thanks for the compliments!!! I FEEL sexy, strong, healthy, energetic, happy about my appearance, and very horny! Better than I have...maybe ever? Wow it feels so great to be within 7 lbs of my goal...having lost 21 lbs astounds me, even though I'm dumbfounded and praise people who lose 50+ pounds.

Yes, my BF has taught me very important lessons about men. Right now he needs gentle cuddling and tender caresses.

Thanks Curves!! I'm going to try that recipe this weekend, do you think I can change the clams up for some shrimp instead? Your BF has eyes that smile. Not to mention a great grin taboot! I know what you mean about the jump your bones thing, my hubby must think I'm a NIF after my period is over. HAHAHAHA! How do I attach a picture like you did?? Does it have to be in my user cp first??

Mechelle and Beth, thanks for the visit and compliments, and sorry to make you tired! ;)

I found, with every step I make in my fitness, I get more and more energy in daily life. I don't know what it is--but I now understand fit people who go and go and go and go and go....

CONGRATS on 137.0!!! WOOHOO!!!!

i'm glad your boyfriend has you to support him! sucks to feel horny, but sometimes we have to put others first. are you the "take matters into your own hands" kinda girl? :D

Of course you can use whatever shellfish you want!

My BF has amazing expressions--he is a Gemini, afterall. He has many sides to him--it's amazing! I fell in love with his grin the first time I met him. Yes, I am a nimpho right now. I have to uh, take care of myself right now, HA HA HA!

On pictures: most threads here EXCEPT the diaries allow you to put a big picture directly into your thread, like these:

Or you can do just that, and click the add link (globe and paper clip) and put in the http adress of any picture you have uploading to image hosting, like from Photobucket, which is what I use.
Or you can upload a file that is no more than 100K with the "Manage Attachments" button below your post, but the pic can turn out rather small. And you need to downsize photos somethimes--I have Photoshop CSII so it works well.
