Journal 8/13/2007

Good Morning everyone:
This last weekend was a lot of fun. Every year my whole family goes camping for the weekend. We go out to the Washington Coast and camp on the beach. My whole family is trying to do better by eating better so the food was good. For exercise my wife and I went for a walk on the beach. She is training for the "Team in Training" marathon and on Saturday she was supposed to walk for 6 miles. We drove the car three miles, walked back to where we started and then walked back to the car. That was a lot of fun. As a lot of you probably know that walking on the beach isn't the easiest.

We are done with moving now and I will be able to get back to my regular gym schedule. I really missed going to the gym everyday.

Have a great day! Just remember, this is one more day towards your goals!

David

I made it to the gym tonight. It was nice to go back again. Yay for no more moving. The gym was really crowded tonight and I wasn't able to get to the power rack. There is only one rack in the gym and there was a line of like 4 people waiting. I did my bench press and lat pull downs. I have decided to do lat pull downs until I am able to do a pull up unassisted. My bench press felt really good tonight and the lat pull down was really good as well. I used the leg press machine and it seemed to really bother my knee. I am not sure what I was doing wrong. My knees have never bothered me when I am doing squats.

I jumped on the scale tonight as I got to the gym and it said that I was 201.2 and that was @ 10:00 tonight. It will be interesting to see what I weigh when I go it in the morning. My son broke my new scale so it is on the way to the store. Well with that reading I am down 4 1/2 pounds, and that is exciting.

I am off to bed, have a great night anyone who is still up, talk to you all tomorrow.

Yesterday was a good day. This week I have been focusing on drinking more water. I do really good and drink water when I am thirsty, but I am trying to do better on drinking water all through the day. This week I started to notice that if I drink at least 8 oz before I eat that seems to help curb the want for more food than what I had planned. I have been doing a lot better on drinking the water I should. I have a water bottle at work with me that I try and drink 5 of while I am at work. That would be 110oz.

My son Parker (4) has really developed a love for bicycling. I don't have a bike anymore, but I think that I am going to go out this weekend and pick one up. I am real excited to go out on rides with him nightly. I am excited that my family is wanting to do more activities outside instead of inside. The plan is for my wife to get a bike as well and then get one of those trailers that can hold the little guys. I have another son and a daughter (2 and 5months). Then we can all go out for rides at night.

I made it to the gym last night and did cardio for 30 minutes. For the first 15 minutes I tried my hardest to do HIIT, well what I think is HIIT. During that time I kicked my own butt. I could really fell it working though. I think that I will try and do at least one of those during my week of training. Tonight I get to do more weights, on the schedule tonight is: Deadlifts, overhead press, and squats. I am looking forward to it.

Make it a great day, go and reach your goals!

David

Just a quick little entry. I made it to the gym again tonight and did the following exercises: Squats, Standing Press, and Dead Lifts. I am still getting used to the form for a couple of the exercises. Overall it felt good and I can see that I am making progress. Today was a good food day. I am really doing better on following what I am eating and also drinking the water that I should.

Have a good night everyone

David

Hi David. Great your son is getting into bicycling. Sounds like your workout program is doing great!

Hey David!! I just thought I would drop by your journal and say Hi. I have been reading for a week or so and it sounds like you are mega motavated. That is (as we say up here in Maine) Wicked Awesome.

What kind of bike are you going to get? I bought myself a cheap Walmart brand a few years ago and love to ride with the family. We started out with two in the pull cart as well. Now all three of the kids are riding without training wheels. They love our family rides. There are three parks around where we live, so we ride to each one and let the kids run around and play on the play ground while my wife and I ride around the park.

Keep on writing and I will catch you later.

Dennis,
Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. I haven't really looked at what kind of bike I am going to get yet, but I think I am going to go look tonight. I can't wait to go out with the family on rides. We live right near the waterfront and there is a 5 mile stretch that is a lot of fun to ride along.

How about a 'bent? :D

That sounds awesome. I wish we lived some where near the water. We are in town so not much like that around here. It would be an all day ride on the bikes to be by the water. I like riding my motor cycle down along the Penobscot River. It is very peaceful and you don't have to go 70 mph just to keep up with traffic. Kind of just put along enjoying the river.

Good luck bike shopping.

Thank you I am sure I will need the luck. I am lucky to live in Washington as there is water EVERYWHERE. The motorcycle ride sounds nice though.

Good morning everyone:
Yesterday was a good day overall. I ate really good and I made it to the gym. I did the elliptical for 30 minutes burning 500 calories and going 3.5 miles. I felt pretty good about that.

I have only been able to weigh myself at night when I go to the gym, so this is after all my eating and drinking for the day. I am not sure how accurate that is, but last night I got on the scale and it said 201.2, that is 5 pounds down from when I started almost a month ago. I wish it would be more, but I am happy for that decrease. My clothes are starting to fit better and the biggest difference is that I can now wear my wedding ring that I haven't been able to wear for 4 years. I am excited about that.

Tonight at the gym is Squats, Bench Press, and Lat Pull down. I am going to try and increase my squat as I feel that my form is getting better. We will see what happens.

Make it a great day! Have a great weekend..

Good morning everyone:
Yesterday I missed the gym. In the afternoon my Brother in Law called and said that he had 4 Mariners Tickets to the game and he offered them to my family. My family came and picked me up from work and we headed out to the game. That was a lot of fun. My sons really love going to games so I was happy that I could take them again. The Mariners won so that was a lot of fun for them. I didn't get home until 11:30 last night and I was too tired to go to the gym.

I plan to hit the gym this afternoon because tonight I am taking my wife to a concert. She is out training for a marathon right now, but as soon as she gets home I am going to head to the gym.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Journal Saturday 8/18/2007

I made it to the gym yesterday. I had to do weights as I didn't make it to the gym on Friday. I felt really good on squats and added weight to my reps. The bench I was feeling really good as well until the last set of reps. I tried to push on to many times and I got stuck on the last rep. Luckily there was someone in the free weight section that ran over and help me get it back up. I felt really embarrassed. o well.

I took my wife to the Josh Groban concert last night as well. It was really good. I got home way too late. I have been dragging all day today. I can't wait to have a full night rest tonight.

I am going to weight myself tomorrow, and I think that I am now below the 200 mark.. that is really exciting for me.

Have a great night everyone

David

Good evening everyone:

It is kind of late, but I just got back from the gym so I thought I would post a little tonight. The gym was good tonight and I felt strong on all my lifts. I increased weights on all lifts.

The best part of tonight is I weighed myself there and I was 198.6. I have broke the 200 barrier and it feels good. I know that I shouldn't put too much on the scale, but it is a good feeling. I weighed myself @ 10:45 tonight so I am curious as to what my weight is in the morning. I don't have a scale yet so I have no way of seeing what it is.

I only have three days in the gym this week. My father in law is getting married in Idaho and we are driving there Thursday night. I will be back on Wednesday and won't have access to a gym the whole time. I am really bummed about that, but I do plan on going walking with my wife as she will still be training for her Marathon. I will be anxious to get back at it when I get back.

Have a great night everyone, I hope everyone has a good up coming week.

David

Good morning everyone,
I didn't get a chance to get to the gym last night. I am busy getting the car ready for our trip that we are taking this week. I plan to go lift tonight, but this will be the last time I am going to be able to make it till next Wednesday. I am going to be walking with my wife while we are gone. She is still going to be training for her marathon she is doing. This is the cause that she is doing it for. Check it out:

My eating has been really good as of late. I am now down 10 pounds from when I started. I am feeling really positive about this and I can't wait to keep going. Thank you all for your support as i have been on here.

Thank you for looking

David

Good morning everyone:

Thank you for all the support of everyone. I am taking off this afternoon and will be back next Wednesday. I won't have access to a gym, but I will be able to eat good. I am going to miss going to the gym, but there isn't much I can do. I am really enjoying this journey and I can't wait to have more success. Have a great day everyone!
