hi dq - just read your diary for the first time, you are doing so well! i hear you on the car thing - my kid's dad lives about three hours drive from us, and so we sometimes meet in the middle and then i drive home, so three hours round trip. i would eat a full tube of pringles on the way there and sometimes on the way back, plus various chocolates and other bad things. its a hard habit to break but you feel fantastic when you do!

looking forward to watching your progress through the six week challenge (i'm doing it too :))

Nice Reward!!!

WOW! What a nice way to reward yourself! Especially after making it through Mickey D's and no fries! You are doing a great job! Keep it up!!!:D

I'm down .5 lbs! I was getting a little discouraged (but wasn't giving up!), but now I'm motivated to kick it into high gear. Just wish the thunderstorms would go away so I could get out and walk today:rolleyes: Using my stepper isn't the same..up,down,up,down...blah.

I met up with a friend last night who invited me to join the "weight room" with her. This is such a small town (around 1,000 people), there are no gyms, etc. But the gym teacher started a weight room at the school that anyone can join for $50 a YEAR! They don't have a lot, and I hate machines, but they have a treadmill and bike I can use all winter when it's -30 C and I don't want to go outside!

Hi there Dariqueen!
That was some awesome will power at Mickey D's!! I was craving Arby's curly fries yesterday sooooo badly, but when I finally got there the guilt was so heavy that I got the Martha's Vineyard salad instead....which was the inspiration for the salad I prepared myself for lunch today. I'm proud of you for sticking to your commitment! You're doing GREAT, keep it up!

As for the scale, where did you buy your Weight Watcher's scale? Only at their offices or can I find one in a store? I've been shopping for a scale and can't find one that seems to be accurate. I've tested darn near every one at Wal-Mart, K-Mart and Target. I had finally decided to purchase one from Target...a digital one, got it home and the stupid thing stopped working. I've never owned a scale before, so I don't know what brands are reliable. My grandmother has one back home (2.5 hours away) and it's ALWAYS right, but I'm not sure of the brand. It's REALLY heavy, I think she got it from her doctor. Anyway...any recommendations for a good, reliable scale?

I found this scale at Wal-Mart...I figured since it was a well-know weight loss company, it should be the most accurate. It was only $40 Canadian.:)

WOW! Wal-Mart? I must've missed that one, I'll go check again when I get off work. Thanks so much!!!

OY! I am swimming...I'm constantly thirsty; I bought 2 large glasses for water so I don't have to make as many trips to the fridge, but it's making me drink even faster! I believe I've had 6 full ones, at 20 oz each. And I'm not ready for bed yet, so I will probably have 2 more before I hit the hay. Is there such thing as having too MUCH water?!

hey DQ, $50 a year? thats pretty good! Over here most are about $1000 a year :/

Muscle burns fat - its pretty simple choice :D
I decided i was gonna buff up and become real muscley - i dont care if i look like a guy at the end, if muscle burns the fat then its a nessesary evil. Besides you cant see muscle when its under fat anyway. And when i get down to the right weight i can just stop and the muscle will go :D
Im sure its easier to loose muscle than it is to loose fat! hehe

I'm not sure how buff I want to get...but I do want the abs. I can't see it happening after 2 c-sections, but I'm sure going to try!

Ive had 3 c-sections and my abs are better than my teenage sons, im gonna be donating a kidney to my brother early next year (if i can get to 90kg/200lb) so there goes another tummy op lol.

Wishes, thanks for giving me hope. I was worried about scar tissue and damage to the lower muscles down there:( But I won't give up!

So, I weighed myself this morning on my old scale (I don't trust it, so I won't give you the number; my new one is at my sister's until tomorrow), but it's looking good. I went to grab the granola bar I am having for my "first breakfast", and the thought crossed my mind, "I shouldn't eat or I'll gain it back".

Now, I'm not one for starving myself; I know it's unhealthy and it doesn't work. And even when I was an overweight teen, I loved food too much to ever NOT eat. I just find it weird how totally easily that horrible thought popped into my head when I have never thought it before.

And I made it to 160 oz of water yesterday:eek: How much is that in liters?

That is about 4.73 liters, I think.

I have had those thoughts cross my mind a couple of times too. I don't worry about it as I know there is no way in hell I am ever going to starve myself! I love food too much. If you find yourself actually not eating....that's when it is time to worry. I hope you are doing well today. Have great weekend.

Congrats

Hello dari, congrats an the ant mcdonalds(evil place especially for kids)!
My biggest thing I had to break was steak houses and we have a ton around here!I USED to eat at O"charlies and have the pick 2 usually double steak or 1 steak and a barbq chcicken breast with a loaded bake potatoe and you get soup or salad and since I hate salads I would get this cheesey potaoe soup and top that off they keep refilling the darn baket of yummy rolls !!I couldnt telly ya howm many calories and CARBS I ate at a sitting.
But no more I might once a month or when I reach major goals go eat somewhere like that but for now I turn my head when I drive by!
Congrats and good luck to ya. Tammy

LoL just stopped by to say we must lurk on here around the same time
we were posting posts right after 1 another.Unffortantley my kids are still up even the baby and it's almost 10:00 so I got my exersices done earlier except school nights I can go for walks at night.I tried my new exersice bike that I ordered from 7th ave catalog and it kicks butt I did 20 minutes 5.15 miles and 173 calories burned an I was sweating to then went str8 to the gazzelle for 10 minutes the situps.
Well good luck this week Tammy:)

That's awesome Tammy! I love to bike ride, but hate the seats. I have not found one that doesn't make my butt hurt:rolleyes:

if you check actual bike shops, and not walmarts or targets.. they sell both cushions for seats and more comfortable bike seats.. one i've seen that's actually comfy is almost like a butterfly - the seat kinda flares out so you can make it wider or narrower... and it doesn't put pressure on the tailbone or the girlie bits :D makes for a much more comfy ride...

Hey DQ! JMO, I think the Doctor Scales are more accurate then an analog scale. Most Dr offices, you can stop in and ask to be weighed and they dont charge you or anything. I weighed myself at the Dr Office and then came home and weighed myself with my new digital scale and it was right on the money. Its a Frontgate scale. My mother in law bought it for me for christmas:eek:

Oh, I want the abs too, but I hate doing cruches. I cannot do situps...tooooo hard. Any suggestions besides doing cruches or situps??? I got one of those gel pads for my bycicle, but it still hurts my bum!

I hate sit-ups too...I've been doing several little exercises for my abs, I got off this Fit to Strip dvd. One is crunches...I can barely get off the ground, but I make sure to use my ab muscles to pull myself up. Then I keep my knees bent, and lift my legs up, again using the abs. Then you leave one knee bent, and put the opposite ankle on that knee, like you are sitting with one leg crossed. And lift them like that. Then I lift my knees up (keeping them together) toward my chest a little, and spread my arms out to the side for balance. Slowly rock your lower body from side to side, using your abs and side muscles to keep it controlled.

I find the variety helps a lot, with the muscles, and to keep me from getting bored!

I got my digital scale back...I'm down a pound and a half! I doubt I'll lose 1/2 a pound before tomorrow, but I'm excited anyway!
