Oh, and while I haven't changed a millimeter in measurements, I comfortably got into a pair of size 16 jeans. How did that happen when nothing changed? Boy, do I feel good today!

You're probably firming up and getting some muscles rather than losing inches, which will help your clothes feel better.

I think I did okay foodwise today, considering I drank most of a can of pop, and I don't like veggies  It's hard to tell, because I don't measure anything, but I think I consumed about 1450 in calories today. I was reading through Manaloa's diary this afternoon, and finally clued in exactly what BMR means. I thought I had to burn off all 1450 calories plus extra to lose weight...but forgot that my BMR is what my body is burning off just existing, right? So if I burned about 600 calories exercising and doing laundry and stuff, and my BMR is around 1550, then I burned about 700 calories extra today, right? If I do that 5 days in a row, then I lose a pound (theoretically!)

I'm confused. But as long as it works, I'm not going to question it too much!

I am sooooo tired of water!:p I usually have my 8 glasses done by suppertime, if not sooner. But I am constantly thirsty now, so I'm not yet ready for bed, and just finished glass #11

Check out this website
it has a few calculators on it they will help you figure out what you need to maintain or lose weight and how many calories you burn during activites based on your weight and age.
Looks like you are doing really well so far! Keep up the awesome work and add me to your cheering section!

Good for you on water glass number 11 :) For years I lived on diet coke - always had a can open somewhere, probably a 6 pack a day. It was so hard for me to swap over to water, I had to do it in steps. First I swapped to soda water - usually I'd do a glass of cold soda water with a small splash of cranberry juice for flavor. After a few weeks I was able to swap to the plain water. I'll still drink the cran/soda mix when we go out to dinner because I don't like the tap water (FLA water tastes nasty).

Ok so I like soda too..although I don't like to drink lots of it at a time, usually a gulp is enough for me. (I know it's gross but it helps get the slimy feeling out of my mouth..especially after I drink milk)

Maybe, instead of cans of soda...which you know go flat if you let them sit for more than 20 minutes, maybe you can get 16 ounce bottles...this way you can get the taste of the soda in a small gulp but not feel obligated to finish the whole thing b/c it won't go flat for a day or so. I don't know...maybe it'll work, maybe it won't. Hope I didn't offend :)

Thanks Spell! Appreciate the encouragement!

Kaitie, I used to be totally addicted to Diet Coke; my parents used to always have a 2L in the fridge. I was up to 6-8 cans a day in college, and got pain attacks every month (I think the pop caused ulcers) so I finally quit. I'd rather have the sugar than the aspartame anyday!

I was thinking of having a small bottle instead of cans, that way I can just dole it out in smaller amounts. It can get expensive though. Maybe I'll try it tomorrow...I think I'd rather have a few sips throughout the day than chug a can at lunchtime and not get anymore later. Good idea!

hehe I used to just be a soda addict, My husband too. Both of us have now quit other than the odd time when going out (and mines a diet now!).

Good on you for kicking a nasty habit :D

Well, as much as I am missing it, this seems to be working. I lost another pound! yay me!:) Only 4 more to finish the August 10 pound club!

I have never been a big soda fan and only drink it at a party where there is nothing else to drink. How about iced tea?....no sugar though. That is my favorite drink and I have that wherever I go. I also try to stay away from ANYTHING with aspartame in it.....that stuff is NASTY! I actually noticed aspartame along with partially hydrogenated oils in a new "heart healthy" oatmeal that is out...how healthy can that be?

I allow myself a glass of iced tea once a week, because I only like the sweetened stuff, and don't want to overdo it. I'm also going to get a bit of Crystal Lite...I don't want the aspartame, but it will be a tasty break from plain water all the time.

Way to go DQ! 4 more pounds to meet your 10 pounds in Aug! Whoohooo!

A few years ago, I drank 6-8 cans of Pepsi a day, then last year switched to Diet Pepsi. It took a month before it started tasting good. Starting Aug 5, I only drink water. I wondered how the crystal light stuff tastes, let me know how you like it...

I drink one of those crystal light singles divided between 3 smaller glasses of water, so it lasts longer and I don't feel the need to have a second one. Only 5 calories but there is aspertaine which I try to cut out.

I also recently cut back on diet pepsi. It was hard but the health benefits are worth it :)

Kino- Thanks for the tip about dividing the Crystal Lite...it'll save on that yucky sweetener!

Heidi, I've had some of them before; most aren't bad.

So, 6 lbs lost isn't a lot, but a good start. I got out the measuring tape the other day and measure my thigh and butt, just to see. No difference. I was a little bummed, because I've been working hard.

So today I thought I'd measure all over, and I've lost an inch of tummy! Woo HOO! Here I thought I'd lose a little bit all over, not some in one spot and not in another. Weird, but I'll take it!

YAY!!!! Doing good.. Keep it up. I hear you on the diet Soda.. Love it!!! There are some of those WATER flavored drinks that they sell at Walmart. They have that Carhbonation(sorry for spelling) That they have in soda. No sugars, no cals, Just like diets. Gotta try those. They are Great. But Make sure you drink Your WATER;)

Have a A GREAT Day and Drink your WATER:D

Jellybelly, you're obsessed with water:D I do drink tons, believe me. Especially on the days we're up at 6...I usually have my 8 glasses done by 10am, then I drink it all afternoon  :)

Walmart and a few other stores carries a brand called 4C Light they have lemonade, iced tea, and a few other flavors and it uses Splenda. Definently a better alternative than Aspartame. Still sweet, but sometimes a good change from plain water.
