Hello all Melbourne Cohen Clients

Hello all Melbourne Cohen Clients,

I am sorry that you find yourselves in this position where the clinics in Melbourne have closed. The former Melbourne clinic owner will be sending me all the client details and hopefully by next week I will be able to get in touch with you. My clinic here in Perth will be looking after you until such time as we have opened a new clinic in Melbourne, then you will be able to go to that clinic. For the time being we would like to encourage you to continue with your programs, have your repeat blood tests done on the due dates - the labs will send these results to Dr Cohen which he will use to create your Refeeding program when you get to goal weight. Six years ago I did the program through the e-mail with Dr Cohen, there were no clinics here for me to visit, I took it on as a lifestyle, lost 35 kgs in 17 weeks and have kept the weight off. So please do not give up, keep following it and we will do our best to get a new clinic up and running in Melbourne for you. You are welcome to contact me on rosemary.b@lifestyleclinic.com.au or (08) 9364 2789 if you have any questions about your program or about anything to do with it.

Kind Regards
Rosemary

thanks for the help

hello everyone,
I would like to say thank you for you help with the youghurt i went out and bought some vaaliah brand but i couldnt find the tamar valley brand does anyone one know if it is sold around tweed heads n.s.w :) :)
Lizzi did you do any exercise while you where losing your weight ? and do you have any excess skin ? I have 47 kg to lose and since i am 37yrs i dont think my skin will pop back into place as my belly hangs a little bit already and my arms are a bit flabby and does anyone have what they call the turkey neck ? do you no if it goes away when you lose all weight ? thanks again for the help :)

Welcome Bid-Daddy!

I hope you enjoy the journey….Good Luck!

MagicLea, I am glad you are going so well on the program! I weighed myself yesterday and I only lost (I think) 4kgs. You see, I am not sure how accurate my scales are…

Keep up the kind and inspirational words…

Thanks to everyone regarding the whole MITCHAM clinic closing down…I have yet to be contacted! I hope it will be soon….

Oh, regarding the Yoghurt thing, I made a smoothie - It was so yummy!
I put my Yoghurt allowance, (for me its 175g), a little soda water and mango…

Now, the mango I have is frozen mango by Sara-Lee. I don’t know who mentioned that there were frozen mango pieces, but whoever it was is fantastic. It is a pretty penny but worth it in the yoghurt.

For dessert tonight, I saved my fruit allowance to have Mango…I am having Mango and I’ll make a little syrup juice to go over with Sprite Zero and boil it with a little artificial sugar…I really am craving dessert….

I am so sorry to hear the news about your grandad Netski…I hope you accept my condolences. However, on the bright side, I am glad you found out that you are a strong person with incredible will power. I am so proud of you keeping true to the program and yourself.

I must admit I have had a deviation since been on and I honestly felt like crap. However, I have managed to jump right on again!!!!

[FONT=&quot]Best of Luck Everyone!
May you maintain the will power and strength to move into the skinnier you!!!

Hello

Hi
I am definitely new at Bulletin boards - this is my first time ever posting something!
I found this site weeks ago but being a technical idiot didn't post. (I worked it out at last:eek: )
I have been on Cohens for 8 weeks as of today and have lost 13.4 kg and am totally stoked. Part of me sticking with it has been knowing that there are lost of people out there doing it too. So I wanted to thank all the people on this site who have helped me stay focused by telling their stories.
Bio - I am 42 live in Perth, single and have this excellent 16yo son who is so supportive - he's also enjoying the fact he gets takeaway bought for him more often when I can't face cooking all the food he likes and I can't eat!

I started the program at 77 kg and jumped on the scales this morning and am 63.6kg AND for the first time that I can recall have a bum which is smaller than my bust!!! (move over elle mcpherson!!)

My weight loss seems to be about 1.4kg -1.6 kg a week which is a little slow in comparison to some other people on here.. but is still great! At this rate (and my son finally found a use for maths/stats- calculating my "end date"!!) I'll probably need another 4 weeks to get to the bottom of the range they set for me which was 57-60kg

Anyway - just wanted to be "on" instead of "reading" and let you know how much I admire all of you for perservering
:) :) :) I know I'm proud of myself and think you all should be too!!

Hi again everyone,
Netski, my deepest sympathies are with you. Good work to stay focused at such a difficult time.
Reb, when I finished doing the program last year, I did have a bit of a chooky neck, but it is fine now. Don't know if this is because I have put a bit of weight back on, but I don't think so as I haven't put much weight on in my neck.
Arowan, welcome, and good on you for getting up the courage to post. You will be nothing but welcomed here! Excellent work on getting through 8 weeks, keep it up.
dilfizzle, don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but I am fairly sure you are not allowed frozen mango, only fresh. Maybe check with one of the consultants.
Rosemary, thanks for your response on the closure of the Melbourne. I'm sure you have set some minds at rest a little.

Oops...

Hello again -

LIZZI - you are very astute! Yes, I did forget to add my vegie content to my curried egg recipe, well spotted! The delerium felt by my tastebuds tangled my braincells obviously! To my hard boiled egg, curry powder and molecule of mayonaise I added a little onion and also a heap (up to my allowance) of steamed cauliflower - adds LOTS of bulk but not much flavour so it was still the curried egg flavour that dominated... it was really delicious.

I find it amazing, as I am sure a lot of you do, that foods I once would have thought of as quite uninteresting now carry a gourmet status. Tonight for my dinner I cashed in on my cheese meal and had my two crackers, cheese allowance, capsicum and tomato mixed in cracked pepper .... you would have sworn that I was eating in a 5 star restaurant it was so delicious. Simple foods have taken on a whole new look to me. Added to my cheese and crackers was a mandarin for dessert and a cup of green tea... incredibly I feel full to the gills, very satisfied... it's wonderful.

NETSKI - I am so sorry to hear of your Grandfather's passing. :( I am so glad that you have found support in your family. And ... I bet he is up there sitting on a cloud playing canasta with someone else and pointing proudly down to earth - see her, that's my grandaughter, I am SO proud of her. In fact I bet everyone up there is getting the run down on how well you are doing... just picture a heap of old blokes up there saying, ok ok enough already.... who's deal is it??

Anyway .... stay safe everyone.

MagicLea

hello everyone

Hello again everyone,

I just wrote a really long posting and when I pressed submit it has disappeared. I said hello to Arowan and Jilfizzle and everyone else...I will write another posting tomorrow..
Thank you all for the great suggestions and advice and support you all give us who may be struggling at times.
take care
jo

Magiclea: I love your sense of humour! And also glad about the cauliflower - never thought of using it that way. I love it with chicken in a soup, and if you leave it overnight it really thickens. Also love it cooked for a couple of minutes in the microwave, then I mash it and in a non stick pan I stir fry it with just a small bit of onion, salt and pepper, and maybe something like basil. I call it my cauliflower 'fried rice' - and the smallest bit of celery to balance the flavour. Only problem is it is never enough! So I only do it when I can have 120gs of vegetable.

Netski: Not easy to lose someone. You didn't get a lot of warning, but I hope you had time to say goodbye and see him comfortable. My prayers are with you and your family as you deal with your grief. .... And as to sticking to it, I am so proud of you! And I bet your family are too. You did so well, and yea, I'm sure you jumped, leapt over, totally blitzed a hurdle, when you discovered that food is not the only way to deal with life issues. Well done you fabulously strong girl you!!

Rosemary: I am still waiting to hear the responses of the Melbourne people, they are the ones that really matter here. But as one who wasn't directly affected I really appreciated your coming on to say something. You obviously can't deal too effectively with all the people if you don't have their information. I certainly appreciated your post, so thanks - it is good to know there is a Cohen's response. Seems like you might be a tad busy in the next few weeks - so good luck!

I always try to see the positive side of something, BUT in this case: As to Tim if he is still reading, whatever is happening, your clients deserved better!!

the old me: Thanks for posting - enjoyed the read! Maybe because I can't get there any faster, I am certainly keen that those who can do! So stay on track and wow!! Look out world cos here she comes! Doesn't it feel wonderful to hit that stage where you feel 'normal'?

reb: Hi there! I didn't increase my exercise much, but I do a bit of walking in my work, so that was good, and it is definitely comfortable now as opposed to tiringly difficult! I bought a treadmill and use it to supplement if I haven't done enough during the day or if it is a wet or cold weekend.
For a couple of years before this I had been sick and as a result lost a lot of muscle, so I was particularly concerned about skin sag. I had never had such little muscle and so much flab anyway. But I have been pleased about how my skin is responding. There is a bit hanging in a couple of places that are cause for concern, but on the whole I think people keep telling me that I am losing well. The more fat we lose, the more skin tightens up I think. But then at the end someone said it can take up to 6 months for the skin to catch up. I am just expecting that it will all work out well. I will do some toning and fitness things as soon as I am finished and am looking forward to that.

rjm: So glad about the turkey neck - mine is getting smaller but I really am hoping it will go eventually - it has in everyone else I know.

Arowan: Welcome. So good to hear of your progress.

joanne: isn't it a pain when you lose a post? Nice to hear from you. Look forward to more.

Well everyone, got to go now, it's a work day,

Oh yea, how you doing myshy? Did things fall apart again? Whatever, just wondering how you are doing.

lizzy

Netski

Netski: Just wanted to pass on my sympathies to you. Having lost my dad at a young age i can relate to your situation and know the power that food has at that time. You should be SO PROUD OF YOURSELF for wanting to treat your body with respect. The ultimate respect is taking care of ourselves rather than 'medicating' our emotions with bad foods. Thanks so much for your courage, it is inspiring to all of us! Now I just have to put that into practice!

Also, thanks for your intial post when i first logged on. I have now signed up but am sorting myself out as my clinic closed down before i got anything running!

To everyone here, all of your posts are so encouraging and you are all contributing to someones life somewhere, you may not even know it.

Keep on girls & boy!

hello hello

Well what a week. I logged on to find out more information on cohens before i paid my fees and with all your testimonies I decided that it was ok and was going to pay on Friday but didn't make it over to mitcham (rang clinton and he was help and very encouraging to come over and pay). I can't believe the people at mitcham very still conducting info sessions and booking people appointments last week when they would have known what they were going to do. I has rocked me considerably - i have been ripped off before.

I had my blood test on saturday and am not sure what will happen. I have spoken to the Geelong office and they are very helpful. As everyone says the program is great i will put my fears to rest and join with them.

I am so glad you are all here. I know someone on the program and rang her for support and she couldn't care less, she is just about finished and going on holiday. I feel very alone.

Thank you to all who have given me feedback so far. Welcome to all who are new.

Jam Well done on your 18.4 loss in 9 weeks. You're are doing so well I hope that will be me. I have been so big for so long. Waiting is hard to do.

Hi tania, missy mum, mumbine, juzzy, sunshine, minxy, JDI, majiclea and the old me all your posts have helped me look at the positive sunshine in life everyday. I don't feel I can talk to anyone but you all know how I feel without explaning myself.

So a big hug and many thanks from me
I now know that i wont be alone

Cheers Jewls::confused: :( ;) :eek: :eek: :eek:

More loss!!! and the Mitcham Closure

Hello all!

Yay, another loss of 1.5 even with the hens day - Woo Hoo! Keeping me on track and focused, despite my crappy crappy hours and crappy crappy work politics..... grr. I'm very pleased to say that I have at all times avoided resorting to the snack machine, even in the last hours of my shift when the new software program again sends all my notes into cyberspace never to be seen again  five weeks ago i would have gone straight for the potato chips.

The Mitcham Closure - given my work hours, I've really just gotten up (first thing I do is check this board now!!! :p ) so as yet, I haven't contacted Rosemary following her post. I'm glad she has posted with the information and offered her support. It's a shame she has had to pick up the slack for the Victorian clinics. I will contact her soon and make arrangements.

well, have a great day people - Sunshine how you going?

And Netskimy thoughts are with you

Oh No - not the Frozen Mangoes

RJM Thanks for the Mangoes advice...I guess I wont be doing that in a hurry!

I should find out if I can, but bugger, they were so delicious!

Arowan you should be proud of yourself...Everyone should be proud of their achievement...

Any weight loss is a good loss no matter how big or small, they should be celebrated!!!

Ok, I am sitting here eating my prawns that I made with 2 crackers....AND I have no idea where the 2 crackers went...Gosh! They disappear fast when you are munching away!

Hugs to you all!!!!

Hi everyone,
Well no movement on the ticker today, but that's ok. Possibly tomorrow or maybe this is me done for the week. My first week on the program last time, I only lost 2.5kg, so I'm really impressed with 4.5kg. Ketostix are still showing pink, so I know I am definately burning fat!!!
dilfizzle, bummer about the mangos, but it's only for a short time. I did see some mexican mangos in woolies the other day though, might be worth giving that a try.
Excellent loss Ready to Lose! Don't you just hate computers, I do, or should I say, they hate me!!
Jewls, lucky you couldn't get in to the clinic on friday, although I don't think you have had any trouble getting your program and support even if you did. Welcome, and hopefully you will have everything sorted out soon, and have your program in your hot little hands and be able to start. You won't regret it!!
mumbine, have you received your program yet? They must have it somewhere, because weren't you almost ready to go in to pick it up?
lizzi, I remembered reading about your "cauilflower" fried rice before in a previous post, but I could never find it again. Sounds very yummy and I'll have to try it. Thanks for posting the recipe again.
joanne, what a pain losing your whole big post. I hate it when that happens, and it only ever seems to happen to the really big posts, doesn't it.
MagicLea, totally agree with you on the taste of foods. Everything seems to have so much more flavour. Just wait till you finish the re-feed. Your taste buds will have totally changed. I found that things I had been really looking forward to throughout the whole program didn't taste very good any more, and that 1 bite of chocolate would totally satisfy me. Shame I ruined it, but I, and you all, will be back there soon.
Everyone is still doing so well. Stay focused and keep up the great work everyone. Talk to you all soon.
Have a great day everyone!

mangoes?

RJM you are probably extremely confident with the program and know more than most...but....

When I went to the information session the consultant did mention about frozen products. She said as long as there are no additives it should be fine (only pure mango though). Although, getting the right serving size might be a little difficult but a few calculations will definitely be worth the effort.!:p

Dellfizzle, all might be saved but definitely check with another consultant.

so many posts

havent had time to catch up on all the posts thoroughly, so if I've missed anyone/anything thats why.

Yoghurt - I'm not a huge natural yoghurt fan, but I love Vaalia. I could pig out on it. I've been having it on a baked apple, with a cracker crushed up over it for breakfast. Yummo.

Netski sorry to hear you sad news. But I am so impressed by your strength. This is good preparation for other things which will inevitably come up. You are a good example.

reb I havent had any flab which hasnt disappeared, even improvement with stretch marks yay!

good on ya dilfizzle for getting right back on track again.

Magic Lea in older posts, some have said there consultants say not to have them if you dont feel like all the fruit or crackers.

Welcome to Big Daddy all the best with it

I'll catch up with others another time

I am still going strong. Had an awful situation to deal with last night, lots of tears, but didnt resort to food for comfort. That would have been the one time I really could of. It has made me realize, like Netski, I get all the support from good friends, my fantastic husband and daughter, and you guys. But you know what its like when you've cried your heart out, and your eyes hurt, you go to bed with a throbbing headache knowing there is no way you can take a sickie the next day. Got up this morning with very sore eyes, but made up my mind to keep on being positive. There is always a silver lining to the cloud. The tears are still close to the surface and I dont know whats going to bring them on, but I've survived the 1st 1/2 of my work day - its a good distraction, now I can go back and romp throught the last 1/2. I did manage to get some sleep last night and am feeling quite reasonable. The fact is if I had deviated, I would have had to deal with the feelings that come with that too.

Anyway love to you all. Keep up the great work everyone:)

Hi everyone just a short post went and got weighed today and was stoked my first week back on program and have lost 5.4 kilos this week. So i hope my next week will go well as well.

Netski my sympathy to you and your family during this sad time.

Magic Lea have to agree just the little things you can do with your food because you have enjoyed it makes it feel like a five star meal.

Big Daddy welcome will be interesting to reads a mans view on how you are going with this weightloss program, lots of people to get advice and motivation from.

L-Jay sorry you had such a big upset last night hope it has resolved itself, during these months with everything I have gone through with my family I have shed so many tears but unlike you I turned back to food for comfort feel proud of yourself for not doing so, congratulations

To you all have a great long weekend catch u when I get back planning my food to take with me already so I AM ORGANISED NO HUGE STUFF UPS. cheers Dianne

Thanks

Thanks very much for the warm welcome and encouragement, much appreciated. I had the nice experience of someone coming up to me today and saying
"OK - so where's the rest of you gone?!".. bit of a crack up!!

rmj and Missys-mum they were pretty impressive weekly totals lost in a week, you must be really sticking with it.
I've had people ask me about this program since I started and it's nice to offer it's possible to lose a stack really fast
well done.

dilfizzel - I'm glad you asked about the mangos, as I've had a pack lurking in my freezer for a few weeks, but luckily (as it now turns out) didn't eat them.

magiclea - I think I'll be trying that egg and cauli recipe really soon, you sound like you're a pretty good/creative cook AND live in Harvey! (I grew up there)

Lizzi and Joanne - thank you for the welcome.

reb - when I first started on this program I was worried about sagging, but it seems not to be a problem, although I've got a little bit of the "turkey" neck and a bit of dry skin but nothing major. Highest loss in a week was the first =3kg. Best result on anything I've tried.

I don't know if anyone else is turning into a shopping fiend??????

I like clothes but now I can't seem to stay out of the shops oh well ..at least it's not unrealistic window shopping anymore!!

Ice cold

I am just about to turn in as I am freezing here tonight. I have never been so cold in all my life as on this diet. I am dressed for a blizzard and thats in my lounge room with the heater on high. I am wearing a beanie, gloves, two woolen tops, a puffy vest, a polar fleece jacket, gloves and have a blanket over my legs, its just ridiculous and very comical. I don't even wear this much gear outside!! I am still frozen. I am not sick, its like this every night. Oh well I won't eat in bed. I will have an early night and sleep off some kilos or at least 600g ( I hope) lol Good old HGH . It should kick in with additional sleep. Hope so anyway. Maybe shivering burns weight. I am really hoping to crack the 74s tomorrow.
