Hi everyone,
Well another small movement today, which brings me down to 5kg in 6 days back on. I am so pleased because the first time I did this I only lost 2.5kg in my first week. It could be because I was eating so much junk before getting back on to Cohens this time, whereas last time I did the program I had been trying to eat well before I started.
Looks like everyone is still having such great results.
Missys Mum, excellent loss for your first week, you must be so pleased with yourself ( and the gingerbread heart didn't hurt a bit)
L-Jay, I am so sorry to hear you have been having troubles. I hope everything sorts itself out for you soon. Well done to stay focused and keep going on the program. I sometimes find when it seems everything else is falling apart, it helps a bit to have something structured that you can control.
Wanttolose, 6.9kg is a really good weight loss. Don't be disappointed, it's better off than on. I also cut back on my salt if my weight loss slows down, and I increase my water intake. As I tend to eat the same thing every day, I also change what I have been eating and replace the batteries in my food scales (just in case they are not weighing correctly). Don't know which one works, but something does because it usually gets the weight loss moving again.
mumbine, so pleased to hear that you received your program without any fuss, and you'll be relieved with your response from Rosemary. Have you started yet? If so how's it going?
Reb, I always eat everything my program says, down to my teaspoon of mayonaisse. My crackers are very precious and I savour every bite!! It probably depends on how many you get though, you mentioned that you get 8 crackers and 3 fruit. I would probably be pushing it to get through all those too.
Carissa, I would try to not drink, but you have said that you probably won't be able to resist so in that case I would think spirits with diet coke are usually the lowest fat, calorie etc.
gayegel, great that you could move your ticker 1kg. It's a bit like an addiction isn't it, moving your ticker.
Tasm82, well done on your weight loss also. Every time you move into a new bracket of 10's it's so exciting!!
zeldaD, welcome, you won't regret starting this. Eggs usually are in the first meal of the day, but you can change the meals around and eat them at any time of the day. I didn't understand what you meant by "what group do eggs fall in to".
Sorry to anyone I have missed out. Have a great day everyone. Talk to you soon.

*doing a dance*

Hello everyone :)

I am feeling mighty proud of myself right now and while I am not normally one to draw attention to myself I can't help but whoop for joy and direct your attention downwards just for a mere glimpse at my ticker!!! *doing a dance* I hope it has updtaed but just in case it hasn't ..... *drumroll* .... I just hit the 10kg mark!!!! ooHoo.... I am SO happy and excited not to mention GOBSMACKED!!! I stood on the scales about two dozen times this morning because I simply could not believe what I was
seeing! My daughters were jumping around, they are just as excited as me! To add even more impact to the weight loss - I have only been on the program for 8 days!!!!! Now take into account that I fell of the wagon badly for three days after receiving some startling news that sent me into an icecream induced coma so really, I have been on it five days. I think a lot of that is fluid though because I can't see a great deal of change physically but I feel wonderful and my joints feel so much free-er (if that's a word).

WANT TO LOSE - I know such a dramatic loss may seem discouraging to read but I do think that the larger you are the quicker the initial weight loss can be, not too sure why but I know that in previous diets (that I never stuck to) I would have a reasonably rapid weightloss to start with but then it would slow down - I am still anticipating that will happen on this program too though. I am sure that once your momentum builds you will be losing at a rapid rate of knots while the rest up us will be turning green with envy. Also... your weightloss, while you may consider it small is absolutely outstanding!!! You have done a great job!! Many diets recommend you lose about 1 or 2kg per months so you have excelled yourself!!!

AROWAN - Wow, small world eh? I didn't grow up here in Harvey but I plan on staying here for a very long time - or at least
until that elusive powerball comes in and I can plan my world trip :)

CARISSA - WOW, what wonderful news about your friend coming back after all this time, how exciting! It's a dliema what to do isn't it? I know that my wagon upturned for a few days and it didn't impact upon my immediate weightloss, I was still rapt at what I lost for the week. I guess it depends on your frame of mind, whether you are willing to abandon the diet for a night or not, if you are then that's your choice but you have to make sure you don't beat yourself about the head for doing so. Just go straight back on it again afterwards and enjoy the memories you created on the night. I am not saying that's what you should do but if you are
comfortable with a slower weightloss for the week then it's really up to you.

GAYGEL - HELLO!!! Yes, I have met your daughter, she drew my initial blood! It was good - I kinda went in there thinking they might look down at me a little bit but I was pleasantly surprised when she got all excited and said WELL DONE, My mum does that and she has lost so much weight.... it was very positive and she was the one who told me about this forum. I will be able to tell her about my loss in 3 weeks when I go back for my next test :) . I was wondering who her mum was on here and now I know ... maybe we could meet up sometime and share a Cohen's lunch with a side order of fresh air!!! :) Nice to "meet" you.

I have a question for everyone, when you go back for your check-up blood tests, do these alter your program in any way? I mean should I expect a revised program after giving them more blood? I am curious about that.

Anyway, I must choof off, I guess I have sent some of you to sleep by now so will sign off and go enjoy my mozzarella cheese with tomato covered in cracked pepper, cucumber and crackers... *drooling*.
Take care, stay safe and pat yourselves on the back....

Leanne :)

What The??

Hi All,

Haven't even caught up on all the posts due to working crazy, long hours - and just coming home to 'work' at home with kids, dogs, husband etc....you get the idea.

Hey I just received in the mail a letter and my 'refeed' - Melbourne clinic closed down - and I am too call Perth if I need any 'support'???

They said it is in the hands of adminstrators and that Dr Cohen's refusal to provide diet programs was the reason for closure?

I am two kgs away from refeed, but feel like everyone else would - a little disappointed that I couldn't get a phone call at the very least.

I feel for anyone who has just started on their Cohen journey.

If anyone could shed any light on what the 'go' is that would be great.

I will have a read back over the posts - speak soon,

Lisa x

Very very Upset!!!!

I just got my blood test report result interpreted by Dr Cohen.

My consultant told me that my liver enzymes and blood sugar is a bit high and he does not recommend me to go on Cohen’s program at this stage. He thinks that based on my current health state, I am not suitable to lose fat too fast now.:(
What the consultant suggests is that he will put me on another program (no extra charge) where he will advise what sort of supplement I should add in my diet to “fix” up my liver and the period can last between 2 to 3 mths. After this period, I need to put thru another blood test to check my health status. Once I am ok, I will be able to go thru the Cohen’s program.

I am sooooo disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was hoping to lose my 23kg in 3 months and ready for my friend’s wedding in October!!!!

Fortnight, you must be soooooo disappointed, but it is good to know that they won't let you start if there is a problem with your health. They are obviously not just after your money. Fix up whatever it is he has said to fix, and then you can look forward to your rapid weight loss after that.
MagicLea, I can't believe how much weight you have lost in just one week!!!!!! You must be totally over the moon. Well done.
Lisa c, great to hear that you have received your re-feed, good luck with that.
Have a great night everyone. Talk to you all soon.

Nearly there!!

Hi everyone,

I have finally sorted out where I will get my program from. I rang Geelong and they were very helpful and supportive. They got my blood test result fax to them and they have sent me all the info I need, so I should have my program by the end of next week (cause monday is a holiday). I am so excited, I have been drinking lots of water in anticipation. My hubby is coming around and is starting to realise what support I need and giving it, which is amazing.

My kids are excited to. My son is not counting the days until i'm thin but how many days it will be till HE can through me in the bath and turn on the cold water. My kids have also being playing very carefully with my new digital scale (kitchen).

Question - because i'm not near my centre I will have to weigh myself but I don't have any bathroom scales. Can anyone suggest what would be good to buy?

ZeldaD - congratulations:) :) on get blood test done and good luck with starting the program

Wanttolose - Congratulation;) ;) on your great lose 5.6kg WOW i'm impressed

JDI - thanks for your support:cool:

I hope to be posting how much I have lost very soon

Jewls:eek:

closures

Hey lisa

I have heard that the person who owned all melbourne centres was in financial difficulty due to over extending the businesses.

Dr Cohen is still supplying other centres in australia and world wide. I was waiting to be contacted my mitcham and have still not heard or received anything but I do know they (mitcham) were still open for business on Friday - that is taking appiontment and taking peoples money knowing what they were going to do.

Thank goodness for the supportive people on this forum, Rosemary in the perth office and the girls in the Geelong office. I really feel for all the people who are still going to the melbourne centres becasue they are keeping their appiontments and finding they have gone without one word of notification and no knowledge of what is going on. It will put some people off trying.

Losing weight is serious business but is isn't an avenue for people to take advantage of them.

Jewls:(

rjm:You are right. I am soooo disappointed. I was so looking forward to purchase the necessary stuffs this weekend so that I can start my diet on Monday. Most importantly, I am trying to make it on time for my friend's wedding. The funny thing is, I did another blood test about 3 weeks' ago and my doctor told me it was all fine!

I have booked an apptm for another meeting with my consultant. He will have a look at the blood test I did 3 weeks' ago as well as to go thru with me what I did to do to improve my liver function. He told me he encountered a lot of Singaporeans who have high liver enzymes so it might be due to our local diet or something.

Fortnight, Once you decide you want to start, you just want to get going don't you, and your friend's wedding in 3 weeks is just an added incentive, but better to be safe than sorry, and I'm sure you will be able to start soon.
Jewls, good to know you have sorted out where you will get your program from and who will give you support. Soon your children will soon be so thrilled with their new Mum. My girls insisted doing a "What not to wear" with me after I completed the re-feed last year. It was great fun and they had a ball instructing me what I could and couldn't buy. I'm lucky they have good taste. Good luck, bet you can't wait to get going. Sorry, I'm not sure where to get a pair of digital bathroom scales, but I got my digital food scales from Big W for $29, so I'm sure they would have resonably priced bathroom ones as well, and as long as you always weight on the same scales you will know exactly how much you have lost.

Fortnight: Sorry to hear abt that, but I think at least they are ethical enough to not let you start on the program. Just do what they said and I guess you would be able to start pretty soon =)

A Hot Tip + Plateau

Hi Everyone!

Great to see everyone doing so well - well done to every, especially MagicLea! That kind of loss is enough inspiration to keep going huh?

Anyway, no ticker movement for me this week yet. I have not deviated and the the scales have not moved either way. I seem to be on a bit of a plateau. Sometimes I won't lose any weight one week then a couple of kilos the next week. Does anyone else experience this?

And Want To Lose I know how you feel. I only lost 7kg in my first month and I felt really disappointed. But somehow, it was enough inspiration to keep on going. The changes I saw in my body were immediate and gratifying and that was enough. My skin cleared right up in the first month and has stayed perfect - must be all that water we have to drink!

Anyway ladies (sorry BigDaddy).. If you're in Melbourne I've got a HOT TIP for you... anyone needing new clothes should get on down to Katies in the Bourke Street Mall... they are having a 50% off everything sale and things are SO cheap - pants for $13.95 and tops for around that price too plus lots of knitwear for all those feeling the cold. It's such a waste to spend so much money when you're just going to shrink out (as opposed to grow out) of everything fairly quickly. I've had to buy new clothes 3 times now! And I'm heading out today to buy them for the 4th time! That means I have some hand-me-downs Ready To Lose so you better come see me some time soon!

Oh and by the way, I don't work for Katies (I work for a co. that deals with EFTPOS machines)... I just happened to be going past there on the way home last night but didn't have time to stop and shop! Do you know how torturous it is walking through the city on a Friday evening at about 6pm when all of the resturants have sparked up their hot plates and things are cooking and the smells are circulating... I could have killed an army for some teriyaki chicken last night but I went home and had steak and salad instead. WAY TO GO ME for being a strong soldier :D

Anyway i'm making it a day of shopping today... and guess what? I'm now a SIZE 14!!! I haven't been a size 14 since i was 14 :) I may even be able to get in to some size 12 tops by now but I'll keep y'all posted.

Anyway, I'm rambling... but best of luck to everyone for the coming week! I hope you stay warm and maybe get some bargains :)

Hi, just a quick post this morning. I have finished my first week back on Cohens, and I'm so pleased to tell you I have lot 5kg, and 13cm's off my body!!
Sorry I can't chat today, I have to work this morning (I cater a lunch for 40 people every Saturday), and then we have a Church fete this afternoon. Will check in tonight.
Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning all,

the old me Thankyou for your words of encouragement (and no you don't sound like your preaching). Do you mind if I ask how much you have lost on Cohens and in what time frame? (I can see your ticker but sometimes people include what they have lost prior to Cohens).

Carissa Thankyou too !

Netski I so sorry to hear of your loss. Re the salt and water, I don't actually use salt and I drink 3 1/2 litres of water a day (I have always been a water drinker), but thankyou for the suggestions and encouragement.

rjm Thanks for your encouragement and suggestion on the scales, I only purchased them a month ago so hopefully the batteries haven't gone yet !

MagicLea Wow 10Kgs in such a short time that must be a record, you must be ecstatic ! (I am very envious). Thankyou as well for your words of encouragement.

Jewls Thanks for your congratulations.

fornight I can image how disappointed you must be, but nothing is worth putting your health at risk. Hopefully it won't take to long to sort your liver issue and then you will be able to start. You will end up not only slimmer but healthier too, which is so important.

*sunshine* Thanks for your words too. As I have a similar amount to lose, do you mind if I ask how much you have lost on Cohens and in what time frame ?

To everyone else Happy Cohens Long weekend ! (for those that get the Public Holiday)

Hi everyone, I havent had a chance to catch up on all the posts properly.

fornight dont lose your desire to do whatever they come up with for you to do in terms of diet. Keep your chin up hey?

bigdaddy how are you doing?

sunshine isnt it great when you get to a new clothing size?

MagicLea well done, you are doing great

I have had a pretty emotional week, but am still positive. I've decided when these things crop up, I'm not going to live "under the circumstances" I will rise above them. I dont need to let them prevent me from doing what I want. I want to thank EVERYONE who gave words of support and encouragement - you know who you are, too many of you to offer individual thanks, but know each and everyone of you are appreciated.

Anyway, I am still on the straight and narrow, and have been rewarded with a 1/2 kg loss today, so thats 5.5kg this week.

Someone commented about this being the last time any of us will have to diet and thought that was such a great thought.

Have a great weekend all of you, and keep up the fantastic effort. The rewards speak for themselves ;)

PROCRASTINATION or JUSTIFICATION?

 Gayegel & Rjm:eek:

I have recieved my program and i'm not quite sure exactly what i'm doing!
It is my daughters 2nd birthday on Thursday and then on the weekend we are going to kids festival in warnambool. I keep seeming to find an excuse not to start. I really want to start but i feel as if i'll be making it harder for myself by beginning at this busy time. Any suggestions?

Thanks for keeping an eye on me.

:)

Thank You

Hi Gang,

Thanks Jewls for the reply, I had a great email from Rosemary in Perth today, what a gem she is!

I feel a little better about it all now. Just need to focus on the next couple of kg's so I can get into this re feed business!

Thanks RJM too. Well done to you on losing 5kgs - that is very quick! Can you tell me - is it the same program you originally used or did you have to have another one devised for you?

Lots of newbies - which is always exciting - I also see we have a bloke on the forum! Yippee and welcome Big Daddy!

Hi to Lizzie - how are you going? I see that you are still our 'rock' and keep pumping out that good advice to us all - hooray for Lizzie I say!

Have a great long weekend - I am off to Sydney again next week - I have to fly out on Monday night - so trying to make the most of it with family today and tomorrow.

Will speak to you all at the end of the week...

stay well,

Lisa x

Wantolose to answer your question, I started on 18 Feb at 93.3 and am now 75.3. I have deviated a few times though, not severely but enough to gain a bit and then have to lose it again. So could certainly have lost quite few kilos more if I had not slipped. There's a lesson to be learned here! LOL. I hope I have finally learned it!
Cheers. Jen

Hi everyone,
I made it through the Church fete with sausage sandwiches and soup and roll and cakes and scones and pancakes with jam and cream and everything else. I just tried to stay away from all the food and hung aroung the non-food stalls.
Lisa c,, I am using the same program as before, although as I put on so much weight I probably should have had a new one done. They say that as long as you stay within 4-5kg you can use the same program for the rest of your life. Unfortunately we are a bit broke at the moment and $600 is just totally out of the question.
L-jay, I'm pleased to hear that you are still staying positive in difficult times. Keep your chin up. I hope things get better for you soon.
mumbine, if you feel that you will still be focused and ready to start after the weekend, I would probably advise you to wait and start next week as it could be difficult to get through these 2 things on your first week. After you have been going for a little while it is a bit easier, and you can't really tell your 2 year old that you are not going to their birthday, can you?
Not much to say tonight.
Have a great night, everyone.

Good News!

Hi Everybody

I went to that Katies sale and I bought a size 12 top and some other tops and caridgans that were Mediums (Katies mostly does that whole XXL - S sizing thing) but anywaaaaaay, I've never been a Medium in my whole adult life... SO PROUD.

Then I went to Target to buy some pants and I fit in to a size 14... can't believe it. Totally stoked. And you know the funny thing, when I was a size 20, I could never find any size 20's. Now i'm a size 14, wouldn't you know it, that's a pretty popular size too! I gotta tell ya L-Jay.. being a new size feels GREAT!!!

Want To Lose - I started 18 Feb also and was 96.5 and now 77.2. So that's 19.3kgs in 3.5 months... wow... when you look at it, it's kind of impressive huh?

I know I still have a fair way to go but a friend of mine said to me the other day "you look fantastic the way you are and even if you don't lose another kilo, you've succeeded" which was very nice of her. But i'm willing to take it all the way... I want to be free from fat FOREVER!

And here's some more inspiration for you Want To Lose - My partner found a fat photo of me on the computer and then took another last week just to show me the difference and I was pretty floored. Hahah I was in my PJ's but you get the idea. I'll try to upload them... let's hope this works....

Anyone else got some before and after photos that they'd like to share? I'd love to see them!

Oh P.S. - I'm wearing a size 22 pair of jeans in that photo, and a size 14 pair of PJ's :D

Oh and P.P.S. I thought I'd show you all the photo that made me want to do this.... I sing in a band and well I just felt so self conscious being at the front of the stage looking like that that I had to do something about it!!!

The Old Me sometimes we gain our determination from having to learn the hard way, Sad - but true

rjm you have to feel good, knowing you avoided that food. the smell of snags, especially out in the open air, has to be one of the most tempting, right up there with pizza and freshly baked bread, which is what I endured the other night. Well done

Sunshine those piccys are amazing. What a fantastic motivation
