Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I'm down another 1/2 kg. I cant believe how much I've lost in 8 days. It is so worth not deviating. Obviously my original program is still working for me so that is a huge relief. Wondering how kimjo1 and Pink Virgo are doing.

Happy again!

Hi all, I just came back from my meeting with my Consultant. He gave me an interim diet plan which is quite similar to Cohen but in bigger portions. I showed him my earlier blood test results which was about 3 weeks earlier than the one I did for Cohen. He was surprised that the results differ so much. Anyway, to be on the safe side, he recommended me to be on this interim plan for one mth and then I will do another blood test to see how it goes. He said that this interim plan will still allow me to lose about 4kg a mth and just not as fast as cohen. In addition, I need to add some health supplements that will strengthen the liver. As soon as I am OK, I can easily start the cohen program.

I bought my digital food scale and is currently checking out my kitchen for food supply.

Hi everyone,
Sunshine, those photos are amazing. Don't you love the fact that you can now shop in the "normal" section of Target (I know I do), and size 12 and 14 is great.
L-Jay, great weight loss. I'm also finding that the old program is working just fine for me too. Are you still in your contract time, sorry I'm sure you've said, but I can't remember.
the old me, great weight loss too. You must be feeling like a new person.
Fortnight, it's great that they have given you something to go on with and remember any loss is good loss. Hopefully the diet and suplements will strengthen your liver and you will be able to start the proper program soon.
My scales haven't moved for a couple of days, which is fine. I had incredibly fast weight loss last week and am not anticipating that much weight loss again in a week. I'll be happy with 1-2 kgs every week.
Have a great day everyone.

Thanks RJM

Thanks for the positive comments, I am certainly feeling pretty pleased with myself, now I just need to keep it up with no more deviations!!!!! LOL I am on the straight and narrow at the moment and am having very slow loss but I know it will pick up sooner or later. Glad your program is still so successful and that you are forging ahead, well done. Jen

feeling Crappy

well is spose we have our ups and we have our downs. I feel today is a down. All day i have had cravings and food desires stronger than ever. All i can think about if food. I guess i've been active in the garden for much of the day and i've had more caffein then i usually would. But i feel like all of a sudden food smells better, looks better and my food seems so dull boring and same-ish.
I havent let myself deviate and i need distraction. Hence me coming to read your posts and have a complain too.

I guess when i stand on the scales tomorrow morning and have loss( which i certainly hope i do) i'll feel a little better. I'm not sure why today is so hard i had fish for dinner last night and again for lunch today. Maybe its just not as satisfying .
I'm sorry for being a drag but i havent felt this low since i started. I've been on cohens for 6 long weeks tomorrow is the startof week 7 maybe things will pick up!

Hi Netski I really feel for you, I know (as I'm sure everyone else here does), what it feels like to have those cravings, the kind that dont go away after having a big drink of water. But you know what? Most of the time especially after you've been doing this for awhile, those cravings come not from hunger, but something else. Check what time of the month it is, whether there is some underlying emotional reason, eg boredom, a change of routine, even the thought that its the weekend a time where we usually let out hair down and enjoy things. Not too much longer, and tomorrow will be here. I bet you feel much better in the morning after a good nights sleep!!! Maybe its none of the above, but know we are thinking of you hun, and know you will triumph over this.

Melbourne clinic closures

Jewls said:
I have heard that the person who owned all melbourne centres was in financial difficulty due to over extending the businesses.

Dr Cohen is still supplying other centres in australia and world wide. I was waiting to be contacted my mitcham and have still not heard or received anything but I do know they (mitcham) were still open for business on Friday - that is taking appiontment and taking peoples money knowing what they were going to do.

Thank goodness for the supportive people on this forum, Rosemary in the perth office and the girls in the Geelong office. I really feel for all the people who are still going to the melbourne centres becasue they are keeping their appiontments and finding they have gone without one word of notification and no knowledge of what is going on. It will put some people off trying.

Hi Jewls,

I can personally assure you that the Melbourne clinics were not accepting enrolments or payments from anybody when it became clear that they were being forced to close. In fact, full refunds have already been issued to anybody who had enrolled but had not received their eating plans. Despite our own massive personal debt as a result of the winding up of our company, and despite being told officially by our accountants not to issue any refunds, we could not live with ourselves had we not have done so.

The suddenness of the Melbourne clinics' closure is reflective of our determination not to continue accepting payments or even run information sessions once we had been advised to close. Had we continued to do so, then your criticism would be justified.

The reason clients were not contacted to cancel appointments is because it was simply not possible to do so. All staff of the Melbourne clinics were instantly without a job and could not be expected to continue working for charity. Rather than waste time attempting to telephone 700+ clients across Melbourne, it was felt more expedient to convey all the necessary information by letter to ensure that nobody was missed and everybody got the correct information. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience suffered by anybody who arrived for an appointment last week to find the doors locked; if we could've prevented this, we would have. If any Melbourne or Mitcham clients have not yet received their letter, please email us on

We are proud of the success our Melbourne clients have had over the past few years (over 15 tonnes of fat-loss) and are devastated and heartbroken that our involvement with Cohens has ended in such a disaster. We would never have agreed to open a Cohen clinic had we known it would end this way. Our experience however is not isolated; 3 other clinics have likewise closed down across Australia in the past few months and I won't be surprised if more follow.

Despite this setback, we sincerely encourage all of you to continue the work begun and see this through to the end. It is worth it. We might not be happy about the way we have been treated in this business, but we still maintain that Dr Cohen's program is the best in the world.

Don't cheat yourself of success just because it is easier to give up. Success is about getting up again each time you get knocked down. My wife and I now have to do that financially and believe me we'll still be paying off our debt for years after all of you have reached your goal weight.

The sentiment of this online support group is just amazingly positive and you are to be congratulated for maintaining such a positive and encouraging environment. You are already winners for having achieved what you have. This is just the springboard for even greater things, so go for it with all your heart. You will win if you follow this program through to the end, and best of all, you should never need to do another diet again as long as you live. That really makes it worth it.

Regards,

Tim

Tim,, that must have taken a lot of guts for you to come on here and tell us all what has happened to you and your family. Well done, and although I'm not personally involved with your clinics, I'm sorry to hear that things have not gone well for you. I am amazed that both you, and my consultant (who has also been closed down) are still so positive about the Cohens program. I know it works, and is incredible, but you could have been bitter and said negatives about it, but neither of you have, well done to you and also to Kelly. I sincerly hope things improve for you and yours.
Netski, I also really feel for you. Good suggestions given by L-jay. If I am having one of those days, often i will go to the shop and buy a really good quality piece of steak and have a really nice treat of fillet steak or something. It helps a little, makes me not feel so deprived.

Newbie!

Hi everybody, you've all motivated me so much with your weightloss that I just joined the forum - ive been on Cohens for two weeks now and 4.04kg down to date - so excited! Seeming as I'm past the first 10 days, I can technically cut back on crispbreads and fruit...has anybody found that it helps weight-loss if they cut back on these like have either less or no crackers etc? Or does it just make the cravings worse??

Ticker Movement!

Hi again everyone

Well i've gone and done it... I've cracked the 20kg mark... FINALLY! Oh I feel so good but I have such a long way to go.... *sigh* But I thought I'd move my ticker for a bit more inspiration....

Well done on your 1/2 kilo L-Jay! That is good news indeed :)

Glad to hear that all hope is not lost for you Fortnight. Stick to your interim diet and you'll be on the program in no time and your friend won't recognise you at the wedding!

RJM - I loved shopping in the normal clothes section of Target... It was great to just walk on by the "Options Plus" section! It feels awesome!

Netski - I'm sorry you're having a crap day. I have them sometimes too. Food was all I could think about today too! I have to tell you, I don't find the fish at all satisfying and haven't had it since about week 4 of my diet. Once a week I do what RJM does and I go buy myself a quality piece of scotch fillet steak. Then I cut off my allowance (I usually get two meals from one steak) and I pound it a bit flatter with a meat cleaver. Then I cook it in the pan until it's done medium and I serve it with the most awesome salad. The juices from the steak mix with the salad and the salad dressing and it just tastes really decadent. Here is the recipe -

SALAD -
Baby Cos Lettuce
Baby Spinach
Rocket
Thin slices of Spanish Onion
Mushrooms

DRESSING -
1/2 a tiny little jam jar of balsamic vinegar (would be about 3 - 4 tablespoons prob)
1 crushed Hermasetas sweetner
Pinch of garlic granules
Good shake of Tarragon (don't leave this out of the recipe as it really does make the dressing)
Shake of chives

Mix it all together and pour over your salad and it's just devine.

I hope you try this recipe Netski because it really satisfies me, especially on days where I haven't been feeling so satisfied.

I had mine with a Diet Coke the other night and I almost felt like I was eating real food again!

The Diet Coke tasted SO sweet... I could still tell it was diet coke but somehow, it tasted a lot sweeter to me now that it did when I was a sugar junkie.... it was yummy ;) Can't imagine how real Coke tastes now.. probably far too sweet!

Netski ?Think everyone of us would feel that way every once in a while but really good work on getting pass the craving, and you should really be proud of yourself for that~! Just think of the end result and I guess that would probably get your spirit up =)

Fortnight: Good to hear that they are giving you another diet to get thing started, all the best to you =)

RJM - Thanks. Actually you'll find that all of the clinic owners feel the same way about Dr Cohen's program. We're all quite passionate about it. I see you were dealing with Kelly. She really has had a rough trot. It's a pity we can't continue promoting and supporting this amazing program because of the business side of it. But that shouldn't stop anybody from doing the program themselves.

Keep up the good work! :)

Good Morning!

Good Morning everyone!!!!! Its my first day of interim diet. In a few moments, I will be off to the kitchen to prepare my lunch for the day.

Hope that everyone will have a great Cohen day!@!!!!:D

Hi everyone,
Fortnight, good luck for your first day!!! You won't know yourself soon.
Tim, it is very sad that the business side of things is preventing you guys from continuing to promote this program. It is just wonderful and I love it!! Dr Cohen should realise that the program really seems to be taking off in Australia, and the more qualified and experienced consultants he has over here the better. Maybe you should show him this thread so he can see how many people over here are benefitting from his program.
Momiji, did you decide when you are going to start?
Sunshine, 20kgs, how incredible!!!! Well done, you must be thrilled. Its so encouraging every time you move into a new group of numbers, isn't it. Thanks for that salad recipe. The dressing sounds really yummy. I haven't been able to come up with a decent salad dressing, and I love salad dressing, so I'm really looking forward to trying it. Are we allowed rocket? I wasn't sure but it does say any type of lettuce. Is rocket officially classed as lettuce?
Febsy, welcome. Excellent weight loss for you too. I eat everything that I have been told to eat. I don't want to risk getting hungry and breaking and last time I did this I was losing between 1.5kg to 2kg every week, so I don't think it would have made that much difference. I don't want my body to go into "starvation" mode and start storing what I am eating. The amounts of food are already quite restricted and I want my body to think it is still being fed enough so it keeps burning off the fat.
Anyway, a small movement in the scales today which now makes it 5.5kg in 9days. I'm really happy and can't wait to get back to doing the re-feed again. I will never again start this without completing the re-feed!!

Have a great day everyone. Talk to you soon.

Netski hoping you are having a much better day today:)

sunshine 20kgs is fantastic - a real milestone. I know what you mean about walking past the options plus section. I still have trouble getting my head around that

fornight glad you are able to start you personalised plan, wishing you all the best with it

Tim I agree with rjms sentiments, feel for all the consultants who are affected by this. Its a real shame.

rjm to answer your question, yes I am out of contract. I started the program in November 2003, and was on it until April 2004. Rang a consultant recently and she suggested I give my original plan a go before paying for a new one. You are doing well. When you get around the 5 kg mark you really notice it.

mumbine how are you going?

sms what are you up to?

everyone else, thinking of you & wishing you great results this week!!!:D

As for me, I am down yet another 1/2kg, I am not only noticing it, but am feeling it as well. I have no get up and go at the moment. The cold weather isnt helping with that. But I dont think my body knows whats hit it. I'm actually shocked at how much I've lost. In fact I've barely had a day where the scales havent moved. I'm feeling so tired I'm wondering if this is happening too fast. Anyway, I know the tiredness will pass, and my energy levels will have a dramatic improvement.

Hi Everyone

More ticker movement for me today! I've surpassed the 20kg mark already! See it's funny... I don't know about the rest of you guys but I seem to plateau for a week to 10 days then lose a heap at once over a few days. I know they tell you when you start the program only to weigh yourself once a month but AS IF! I'm too curious not to weigh every day LOL :p

Well done L-Jay on another 1/2 kilo! Good for you! I know how you feel about the cold weather... it's sapping me of all energy and motivation at the moment. I have a bathroom that needs cleaning and floors that need vacuuming and *shrug* I'm over it.. it can wait!

I'm still having a hard time getting my head around the fact that not only can I walk straight past Options Plus, but that I bought clothes in a size Medium! I can't believe it! And i'm wearing my size 14 jeans as we speak... they fit well but i'll probably shrink out of them in a few weeks. I know I keep going on about it but i'm SO stoked.

To anyone who has completed the program, what kind of size did you end up fitting in to when you'd finished?

Well done Mumiji on your 8kgs!

And RJM - I never even questioned Rocket not being a lettuce. Do you reckon it is? Oh well, I'm sure the amount I eat is negligible anyway - I find it quite peppery and only have a little bit. But yes, please let me know how you go with the salad dressing - I'd love to hear your thoughts. I think I might have the salad again for lunch today with some stir fried chicken... yummo!!!

Well done Febsy on joining the forum and more importantly joining the program! Like I keep saying, the results are almost instantaneous and it's enough to keep you motivated to keep going. As for the fruit / crispbread issue - I still eat all of mine. I don't know if it slows the weight loss down but I don't care to try - I'm going to eat everything prescribed to me cause i'm a guts! And the crispbreads are just so tasty.. they're a marvellous way to top off a meal :)

Have a great public holiday everyone :)

Hello all newbies...

Just a quickie today...

Fornight- Goodluck with you program and before you know it you'll be on cohens...

Sunshine- What an excellent achievement... 20kg's well done...

Febsy- Sometimes i only have 1 fruit and 2 crackers a day... but it really depends on you... Though it is always a good idea to have around incase you get the munchies...

L-Jay- What about your refeed...? did you already have it or will you need to pay the fees again if you don't??... just curious...

To everyone else keep up the good work... thinking of you all...

Tam

Good morning everyone! It seems forever since I have posted, but it’s not. It is just that so much keeps happening – which is exactly what it should be like with all of you courageous people battling something many people are too scared to deal with, or are in denial about, or haven’t yet found the right tool to achieve with. It is such an immense encouragement to have this forum and to see the bigger picture. Thank you each for your contribution, which I genuinely value.

Now obviously I can’t catch up with all of this in individual posts, so forgive me if I don’t mention you.

mumbine: won’t be long now and you will be started, and focused. Definitely worth waiting so you get off on the right foot.

Jewls: you have had a rough start, so I feel for you, but in a few weeks it is not going to matter. You will be so into your program and the results, that you will be able to just concentrate on getting there. Look forward to your progress.

Ready To Lose: Despite your shift work you are losing well, so I am so pleased. Sounds like there are some issues for you at work so that is double reason to be pleased with yourself - you haven’t resorted to the snack machine! Be really proud of yourself, and I hope you get to have some good sleep soon so you get your maximum loss.

dilfizzle: I had to laugh when I read about the 2 crackers disappearing – I’ve been there done that!! Also resonate about the mangoes – I haven’t tried the frozen ones, but if you ever find out we are allowed, can you post it, because I will be in there buying … absolutely love mangoes!

rjm: Your posts are always so encouraging and you certainly contribute heaps to our morale, so thanks. So pleased about your weight-loss, that is a great start, and it looks like you will be there before you know it. Also congrats on getting past all those lovely smells of food cooking and the sight of everyone else buying and eating food at your church fete. Real strength there, so I hope you are genuinely pleased with yourself!

reb: not sure if I’ve said welcome! Will look forward to see how much you lose in a week. My first week was 3.6kgs, but many lose more than that, and the best test is what you lose in the first 4 weeks – so we will all be waiting to hear what it means for you.

L-Jay:
Seems you have been having a bad time and upset about something, sorry that is happening for you and hope things turn around really soon. You are always such a positive person, so I hope you are getting lots of TLC from others. Take care of yourself, and wow! Your good loss has to be some compensation for your determination and guts. Good for you. Only single digits to go!!

Clinics closing: As for the mess up with the closures of the clinics, I don’t know how it happened or who is responsible for what or what could have been forewarned, but I feel immensely for anyone who has lost their job and their income – especially if it is without warning. So sorry for each of you and your families, and hope that you find personal solutions that will keep you all paying the bills. It sounds pretty tough!

As for me: When I count down to a new digit now, I change part of my ticker. (we could play spot the difference!!) It is a way of celebrating the loss – each little bit counts at this stage! This 4 weeks just finished yesterday and I only lost 2.6 – I keep putting this beside the fact that I would still rather lose slowly than not at all --- but O for a faster way!

Slowly making my way through the posts, and will catch up with the rest when I can,
lizzi
