What did it say on the door Mumbine? Was there a note or anything?

When i went there a message on the door said "Due to unforseen circumstances this office is now closed. Rest assured you will have support to get you to your goal weight. Contact admin@cohenclinic.com for urgent enquires"

What support? Surely on Friday they would have know about this? I'm pretty peeved.

I spoke to Geelong office and they were very helpful. The owner there may know more tomorrow?

Please let me know if you guys find anything more out...

Oh My God What Happened To Mitcham???

Ok, after not logging on for a couple of days I am stressed!

Why did Mitcham close?
I was going to go in tomorrow to find out...

This is ridiculous because I use Mitcham and I just got my program 1 week ago......OH MY GOD - totally stressing out!

So, why did they close? Who do we go to for support? What about the money?

I feel so scammed!!!

Sunshine, for a baked apple, I leave the skin on, remove the core, pour 1 cup diet lemonade over it and microwave for 8 minutes, it is divine!

It has been so busy since I posted last night!

I'll check in again tomorrow. Took some meta caps today (thanks for the info about them!), hopefully they'll be better than what I have been using.

I'll check in again tomorrow. You go girls!!

Hi everyone.
Don't let the fact that your clinic closed get you down. You will get support from one of the other clinics, and I'm sure you won't have any problems getting the re-feed etc. My clinic (Dee Why in Sydney) closed a little while ago and I was contacted by Rosemary (I think in WA) offering her support for the time being. I'm sure they will contact you soon to let you know what is happening.
Mumbine, maybe ring the WA branch and let her know you have been desperately waiting for your program and can you get it quickly from somewhere else, stay focused and remember that you will have all of us for support, and I think we give much better support than the clinics anyway!!
Take care and don't stress.

I agree with rjm. There are other options, and it will all work out. There are other clinics which are able to help. I lived 4 hours away from my clinic at one stage and had to do all communicating over the phone. We didnt even have the internet then.

dilfizzle I basically do the same as chiko with the apple, but find sweetner makes it yummier

I am actually feeling pretty good tonight in spite of having had a long and busy day. My fourth day went very well. At work we have been told we arent able to have our bottle of water at out work station anymore, which means I am trying to down 1/2 litre of water + a cup of coffee, in my tea breaks and lunch breaks. Managed okay today, but its hard not being able to space it out a bit, because of the need to go to the toilet.

Anyway, it worked out okay today, so its all good.

zeldaDthe fish recipe sounds delish. Will have to try that one

MagicLea when I take my lunch to work, everyone comments on how yummy it looks. Its funny really when they are sitting there eating whatever they want. Its good you are getting positive comments. Keep a note of them, they can be handy to look back on when motivation is suffering a little.

Hi Everyone

I just looked on lifestyleclinic.com.au and the Mitcham and Melbourne clinics have been removed.

So there you have it... guess I won't be going for my weigh in next week. Which I don't mind actually cause Mitcham is a long way from Preston, especially in peak hour traffic. I've got a set of scales at home that are perfectly good and give me an accurate measure!

Fingers crossed we get contacted by someone - thanks rjm and missysmum for shedding some light on what might happen from here.

And thanks Chiko for the baked apple idea :)

I'll let you know if i get contacted and what they say.

Hey

Well guys i dont know what melbourne cohenettes are to do now! i know i wont be travelling to Geelong to have my weigh ins thats for certain!!

I got an email from the ladies at the melbourne clinic a few days ago so this has come as a surprise. I am a little unhappy that they didnt realy feel the need to tell their clients.

Hmm i guess we will see what happens

Cheers

Juzz

Sorry all you people who having problems with your clinics closing. Seems the management of the closures could definitely be done better.

But don't panic, as many of us don't go into the clinic and do it all by email or phone. Don't let it throw your confidence.
Still a shame you have to find out this way.

Sleep well and release lots of HGH!

Mitcham and Melbourne Closure

Hi all,

Just thought I'd let you know that I've shot an email off tonight to the email address left on the mitcham door. I'll let you know if i get a reply. The following is what I wrote:

I have been attending the Mitcham Clinic for my program and have just discovered that it seems to have closed. I found this out through someone else who has also been attending, after she rocked up and found a note on the door.

Myself and my friends who have attended the Mitcham and Melbourne Clinics are somewhat concerned and also very keen to know what will happen next? Some of us were due to weigh in soon and some have had blood tests this week that we now don't know where the results have gone to. Another friend was going to collect her program today.

Can you please reply to me as soon as possible via this email address, so that myself and my friends can once again feel secure and on track with our programs.

Hi Guys, Sorry no time to chat, I just HAD to move my ticker, 4.5kg in 4 days :) :) :) !! Have to go and chase my kids out of bed. Will talk later.

rjm: SOooo goodd !! Very pleased for you. It won't be long and it will be single digits. It makes it so worthwhile doesn't it!

FRUIT: Just responding to something that came up a while ago on the forum - to do with 1 or 2 mandarins. It has always intrigued me that they don't give any guidelines here about size of fruit. They say AVERAGE but that can be subjective. Am aware that fruit is never a good cheat because of the carbohydrate value. Thought I might share my guidelines because sometimes size can be misleading.

For example, 2 small mandarins look very reasonable and they ARE small at the moment! But I only have 1 and a 1/2 or just under. Here is why:
Average size = 120gs. (small = 80gs & lge = 180gs)

Other average sized fruit....

orange = 200gs grapefruit = 200gs tomato = 150gs
apple = 150gs lemon = 150gs nectarine = 90gs
apricot = 40gs peach = 115gs

These guidelines come from the Calorie and Fat Counter by Allan Berushek - it comes out in newsagencies updated every year, though mine is a few years old.

If you were ever wondering, hope this is helpful. I use this as a guide all the time.

Have a good day,
lizzi

Missys Mum - Mitcham clinic

Hi there everyone

I am gobsmacked by reading all these emails, and finding that my clinic has closed down. I was to be having a blood test and weigh in on Tuesday morning. Very disappointed.

Missy's mum - do you know why?

Everyone else.... keep up the good work, you are all doing so well and inspire me continually. I apologize for not posting often, but have been flat out at work and gorgeous hubby with his operation etc.

Cheers to you all.

Mitcham Closure

Dill Fizzle and Ready to lose - I too was meant to be heading to the Mitcham clinic. I have only been on this for three weeks, but I will be more than a little p*ssed if I can't get any support etc.
I am around the mitcham area, so you can be guaranteed I am not travelling to Geelong.
Thanks Goodness I have this forum, otherwise I would of fallen in a chocolate induced heap!!!

Good Morning

Guys I just wanted to say I think itis appalling that the clinics did not let you know they were closing they had to know I just cannot believe that they would close down without telling you.

Anyway I just wanted to say that we will offer you all of the support that you need here keep logging on and we will be your consultants...:)

Is there anyone that you guys can go to about this I think it should be logged as a complaint or something..

Mitcham Closure - My Rant

Hi All

Thanks Ready To Lose for sending an email.

The clinics that have closed really could have handled this better by emailing everyone who had appointments over the next month at the very least. Even though the program is working really well for me and I'm getting great results, I feel really duped. Even though it is a very self reliant program, having the accountability of having to weigh in each month in front of eyes other than my own was just something that kept me motivated and on track.

I just think of all the people who don't read this forum who will be inconvenienced by rocking up to their appointments to find a sign on the door. I know that could have been me - It takes me an hour and 10 minutes to get there after work for an appointment.

And I feel for all the people who don't have internet access and who don't know about this forum who may have deviated and may have been relying on the support at their next appointment to get them back on track.

I don't want to carry on about it but if having physical clinics isn't financially viable, perhaps Cohens should consider having an online option like TLC. For those interested, the link for TLC Wellbeing Clinics is -

Anyway, think i'm over it now. Some closure would be nice though. Can't wait to hear what the reply is to Ready To Lose's email.

Well done to all the Cohenettes who have made ticker movement headway this week... good on you!

I hope those of you whose clinics have closed down, get answers, and as Carissa said, the rest of us are more than happy to do what ever we can here to help you. Which leads me to another question.
The idea of having our own web-site has been brought up. I dont see a reason why not, however, I like this site. It will always feel like home to me.
I like the fact that people from other threads can drop-in and offer support and just say hi. I've been following some of their journeys and have gained some valuble insight.
The other thought is that when they see how popular this thread is on this forum, many have come to see why, and it has moved some of them to consider the program. That makes me happy, because many of them have struggled with weight issues for a long time, and would love to have the solution.
I'd hate to see this site abandoned by all of us, especially since the aftercohens thread has been set up.
I have registered with the other site, but this is the one I'm used to. Does anyone else have any preferences?
lizzi is that another ticker change I see?

rjmyou must be feeling great. Well done!!

Hi guys, I am new to the Cohens thread but am hoping to get some support. I started the Cohens program October 2005 but fell off the wagon every other day - (good girl for one day and bad girl for two).

I have recently returned from a holiday in the US where I felt so uncomfortable because I have stacked on an additional 10 kgs!!! 2 hours into the plane trip I got my period which very graciously stayed with me for the entire 3 weeks of my trip and only went away 2 days after my return home!!! Anyway, other than iron deficiency which is being addressed and should be back on track shortly I have been given the all clear by the doctor so I am now very serious about doing something given that I have also stacked on 10kgs since last October!! All in all, I guess I am a bit of a mess in the weight department right now but nothing too bad that I know with the right support can't be fixed.

I too am a client of the Mitcham clinic and only got on to your thread yesterday when I kept calling the clinic and didn't even get a message - I checked on line and noticed that the Melbourne clinics aren't listed and that only Geelong and Mildura are the Victorian clinics open and then I found this thread. So I took the plunge to get back on track and seek the support that is so evident on your site - great work!!

So here are my questions: Does anyone know about getting back on the wagon after such a long time off? Do I need to sign up again? I would feel cheated if I did given that their clinics aren't around any longer. My sister has lost all her weight on Cohens and she is trying to help me but as it goes with sisters we fight more than anything because she is older she takes the higher ground and it gets up my nose!! Yes, I am being precious about it - it is hard taking orders from siblings - must be something in growing up in a passionate, overbearing family!!:)

So down to the detaisl: I am currently 99kgs and need to get down to 58kg - 61kg so have a long journey ahead of me. Being 48 years of age I am concerned about the effect this weight loss will have on my skin particularly around my stomach. Has anyone got any advice/experience on this? I realise losing the weight is the principle thing here however I am wondering how I handle the skin issue. I don't want this to be a deciding factor in how things go for me - I know it sounds negative however it is something very important to me.

Another point I would like to understand if anyone has any experience, I have a naturally very large bust (G cup) but unfortunately when I lose weight I will only get down to a DD Cup given my previous experience (I was a swimwear model 30 years ago and my bust has never dropped below DD Cup) and was thinking that maybe 58 - 61kg is too light given my bust size. I had asked my consultant but I don't think she really knew what to say about it other than lets get there and see - I don't want to look like a freak so am wondering if anyone has any experience with the bust. Having a large bust as an 18 year old was very different than having it as a 48 year old!!

I am very serious about starting this program and am getting everything together to start on the program this weekend when I am at home and able to concentrate on what I am doing.

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
