baked apple

Hi everyone!

Glad to see everyone is still motivated and dishing out lots of well wishes to everyone else. Awww feel the love!

Hey chiko - can you please tell me how to make this yummy sounding baked apple you speak of? Do you just peel and core an apple and shove it in the oven or is there a little more to it than that?

Thanks in advance!

Cheese ???????????????

Morning All

Hey guys can you tell me how often you all have cheese ? I have just discovered mozeralla in a block and love it for breakfast with crackers with half a cooked tomato. I havent been eating the cheese at all while on this and am worried if I eat it too many times it will slow down my weight loss ??? I'm so sick of egg and tomato which is what I have been having for the past two months  and cant handle the yoghurt so I am pretty limited with my choices for breakfast..:(

a-Jiraporn if you go to you will find the cohens web site with all of the info about who to contact etc good luck let us know if you need any more info..;)

CHiko - I take 3 metamucil caps in morning and 3 at night and have had no cramping or anything, they are not like a laxitive they just help keep you a bit more regular.:)

Hope everyone has a brilliant cohens friendly day...:D

Eendjie: The struggle where you achieve is a very strengthening experience. You are showing what you are made of – so well done!! Oh yeah, don’t miss any meals will you? You deserve to eat! Even if it is late, eat up!

mumbine: It will all fall into place when you get the program – I had the same problem before I started. Not long now.

Carissa: I love this quote …
Failure is only the opportunity to begin again, this time more wisely.
– unknown

Thanks for it! And I agree about taking your food everywhere. You just get into the habit of packing it – make sure you have some small containers with good seals and you can take food anywhere. If you need to heat it and there is a microwave where you are going, you simply toss it in, and voila!

L-Jay: you are a great motivator – I always enjoy your posts. Stay strong yourself and that ticker is going to go down before you know it.

Mitmary7: Good advice you were giving about keeping yourself busy – it just happens for me – life it busy and it helps! But also having things to do when you are relaxing is good. So if you play an instrument for instance, or mess around on the computer, people are less likely to eat because the hands are busy. What I am enjoying at the moment, is working through my knitting basket. Got some old wool and some half made jumpers and and some new patterns, and finally doing something about it. I have finished one sleeveless jumper which will fit now – all I have to do is finish sewing the seams. And I am just finishing a shawl – easy quick knitting.

You asked about clothes, well I started with the baggy look. Many of my original clothes were super tight and I grew to wear them properly and that was really nice. Then they were too big and I had just a few clothes I had kept in the past, that I grew into. As that happened, I started to really take more care again of how I was looking. The baggy look worked for a while but once I had sets of clothes that looked good, I became less satisfied, so at work I couldn’t go back to that look. My standard went up and I remembered the care I used to take when I could fit into ‘normal’ sized clothing. So now I use the baggy look at home, and occasionally at the corner store, but otherwise not.

I had a few items I had kept and it is great fun to grow back into them. The rest are new – but I refuse to buy anything at the moment that is not a super bargain. SO, in Millers for instance, they often have a $5 rack. Then I found trousers for $7.99. I found shops with 20% and 25% off specials. So if I can get it for 5 to 10 dollars then that is great. If not, the most I have been prepared to pay is $20.

I buy clothes as tight as I can possibly get them. If I am buying 2 tops, I might buy one in a smaller size and wear it as an under layer. As I get smaller then it gets looser and I can wear it differently. I am thrilled with being able to shop again, but I want to save my money until the end when the clothes are going to keep fitting. It is so tempting and I love shopping in normal stores. It feels good!

Got to go to work and I haven’t even read past your post Mitmary7. Never mind, will catch up later.

Sorry I haven’t included everyone recently, there have been some other priorities and time keeps running out, but I appreciate each of you. Stick with it, more than that believe in yourself, and have a Cohen friendly day.

Well yesterday was day 3 for me and I'm down another kg. Thats 5 kg in 3 days!!!

lizzi thank you. Thats a great idea with the clothes

Carissa I have mozarella everyday for lunch

Sunshine I chop my apple up into quarters, then 1/2 the quarters, and put some sweetner on them, some diet sprite (bit nicer than water) put gladwrap over and microwave for about 4 mins on high.

Sms well done on your 1st day

missysmum i have a daughter who has the same effect on me :)

I have a bit of a headache this morning, and a long day, so I've just got to make up my mind today I am going to be happy and positive with everyone and the day will fly by:D

4 Week Mark...

Well ladies here we go... blood test day... Weigh in day as well... to date i have lost 9.6kg in the 4 weeks... my goal was 10 but hey what's 400g between me and the scales :) Does anybody know... do you have to do your weigh in with the clinic... i mean in kalgoorlie we don't have a clinic so i'm intrigued as to wetheri would have to email them the results??

I am also slightly heavier as i got my period this week... and hubby is heavier as he has a cast on so all in all we arn't doing too bad...

If anybody knows regarding my query please let me know...

Hi everyone,
I have survived my 3rd day back on without any hiccups, and I'm still feeling great.
L-Jay, you are powering down. I am not going quite as fast as you. I have lost 3.5kg in 3 days ( which I am thrilled with). I totally agree that the rapid weight loss is so encouraging, and I will always weigh every day just to keep track of it.
mumbine, I also eat everything in the house if I blow a diet, just so it's not there for me to eat the next day, and then the next day I go out and buy more!! I have never before succeed at any diet I have tried (which is many), but found that the fact that this is so strict and so quick worked for me. You know you can't eat any more, because after you have eaten your food for the day there is no more. On weight watchers and other diets I used to tell myself I would have a little bit more and then compensate with some exercise later, but later never came, and a little bit more always led to a lot more! After you have been on this for a few days, you should go into ketosis and you don't get hungry or have any cravings which makes it easier. Don't worry about trying to lose weight prior to the program arriving, just eat normally, and tell yourself that the day you get it is D-day and try to stay focused. I'm sure you'll be fine.
Mitmary7, I did the same as Lizzi as I was losing the weight. Look out for bargains, or visit the factory warehouses. You won't want to be wearing baggy for too long. As the weight comes off you want to show it off!!
chikoand sms, well done getting through day 1. The first few days are always the worst, aren't they, so getting through those is the biggest battle. Good Luck.
missys-mum, good to hear you're still going strong. Keep it up. Who can resist their daughters beautiful gifts.
Carissa, when I was on the program before, I would have cheese quite often ( its yummy isn't it). If my weight loss slowed down a bit, I would lay off it for a little while until the weight loss kicked into gear again, and then start eating it again, but I weight myself every morning so I can see if the weight loss is slowing down, and I had judged how much weight I would lose at each week in the month. I used to have 2 good weeks where I would lose 2 or 2.5kg, and then 2 not so good weeks where I would lose either 1.5kg or 1 kg.
lizzi, I've also pulled out my knitting. Our church is having a scarf, beanie and bed socks stall in a few weeks, so I've been madly knitting scarves. They are great because you don't need to think about what you are doing, and keep your mind off the fact that you're hungry.
Anyway everyone, have a great day. Hope I didn't miss anyone out!

Hi Everyone

Thanks L-Jay for the hot tip on the baked apples.

Carissa - My program says to try to eat cheese only 3 times a week. Sometimes I eat it 4 or 5 times and I don't think has affected the scales.

Good to see everyone is doing well... especially those just starting or coming back on the program... well done!

Ready to Lose - how'd you go with the Hen's do?
Juzzy - how are you coping?

Hopefully next time I get on here I'll be able to move my ticker to reflect my next goal of 20kgs lost! I'm only an teeny bit away from it and it's killing me!

Hi Tasm82, we must have just posted at the same time. When I was doing the program previously, I didn't want to go into the clinic so my consultant told me I should email her my weights and measurements every month.
Sunshine good luck with the 20kg's.
Missysmum, did you hear that the Dee Why clinic was shut down. Very strange. Kelly wasn't very happy. She sent me an email.
Take care.

Thanks to all...

Hi all,

Just a quick note to pass on my thanks for your support and encouragement. Something worked because today i started my 'week before cohens' diet. Just want to shed a little of what i've put on over the last couple of weeks. My total weight loss had amounted to about 15kg but over a 6 month period it came creeping back on... oh well, the new me is around the corner now.

I thought i'd include my prior weight loss on my ticker cause i have done it before and it's encouraging to see the progress i have already made, even if it is a small amount now.

This week i'm planning to work on the water intake so it won't be such a big change come next week when i start the program. It's definitely harder in the colder months though.

Thanks again for your thoughtful comments, thismorning i actually did start instead of procrastinating, all cause of you guys.

With the clothes thing: My local cohens clinic has a clothes swap program, so those that have lost weight can cash in on the clothes people no longer use...

Keep posting, i'm loving this forum!!!! :)

good morning everyone,
i must say this is such a wonerful sight. i love reading about everyones jouneys and there fav meals but i have trouble remembering where the recipes are so would it be ok to have a link for recipes ? :)

Hello all

Hen's Day - well, i had a glass of Domaine Chandon, tasted a very few other wines and ate the food provided - I had a marvelous time and don't regret any of it. I drank and ate far less than I would have a month a go, so very pleased with myself. :p

And I bought several wines to enjoy at the end of this process!!:D

so, maybe weight loss will be a bit slower this week, and it is combined with having my period, but never mind life happens whilst we are on this pathway!!

Have a great day people!

What's Going On?????

I can't believe it. I went into the Mitcham clinic today to pickup my program and they have closed down! Apparently so has the Cheltenham & Melbourne clinics. Geelong is still running.

Is there anyone else that goes to these clinics and had no idea?

I'm really peeved as i only just paid my $680 fee. I haven't even got my program. This really sucks and i'm feeling really deterred and don't know where to turn from here.

BooHoo.............:(

What????

i go to mitcham as well - what the hell? were they there when you went or did you get to talk to anyone? i was there last week and they didnt mention anything??????

Happy Tuesday

Hello everyone :)

These posts are the most wonderful form of support, you don't have to read too far before you come across someone who is feeling the same was as you or is asking the same question you are looking to have answered also, it is a very empowering site and I really applaud you all for taking the time to share your journeys. All the assistance is really appreciated.

In regards to taking your food with you, yesterday I went to a friends for lunch, I told her I would bring my own food and she was fine with that. I chose the 70g cheese and the 90g vegetable option. What I did was mix all of my mozzarella with about 60g of asparagus and 30g of tomato and melted it until it all mixed in together. I then got my precious two cracker biscuits and used them to dip into my asparagus mix. The funny thing was, I always thought the diet would limit me in a lot of ways when it came to having lunch with friends but would you believe it - they thought my creation was so delicious that they put aside their pre-made lunch and made up my mozzarella mix and ooohed and ahhhed with every mouthful! It was great!

Also, I have now officially been on the program for 6 days and in that very short time I have had 3 people race up to me to tell me that I look great - and no, they weren't my children ;) , they were people that I only see every now and then. So wow, if I get that af ter a few days how am I going to be in a month? How bout we all get together and do a Cohen's Swimsuit Calendar? hehehe

I hope you all have a truly wonderful day :)

Leanne

The pain of discipline is NOTHING compared with the pain of disappointment

You said it Ready To Lose.... What the hell??????? I just tried to call the Mitcham Clinic and the Melbourne Clinic and no answer......

How on earth do we get our refeeding programs and stuff?

What did it say on the door Mumbine? Was there a note or anything?

Yes rjm was told why it closed sent you an private message. Glad to see the scales moving for you thats a great weightloss be very pleased with it.

Sunshine and ready to lose rosemary at head office probably is the person to ask about your programs and why the clinics closed.

Do any of you girls know how many kilos is a dress size I seem to be stuck in the one size it seems forever. But worse is that my bigger girlfriend is getting my too big clothes from earlier weightloss and its making her depressed I just wish she would start this diet, as at one stage when we went to weight watchers she was 15 kilos lighter then me now I am much lighter then her.

As far as cheese goes I was told not to have it too often as it could slow down weight loss, so I am having it twice a week now.

Having fish and salad tonight can't really find anything interesting to do with fish, any ideas.

Going away this weekend so everyone have a safe and enjoyable long weekend but will post my first back on cohens weeks weightloss before I go hoping it will be good. cheers dianne

Hi missys-mum,
Having worked in retail, there is approximately 5 kg in a dress size.
What I have also learnt about eating cheese is to pop the amount you want on a plate in the microwave for about half to 1 minute. Drain the oil and use the cheese on toast or on veggies.
I made a beaut fish on Sunday. The whole family loved it.

All I did was I used whiting fillets and sprinkled it with rock salt and black pepper and basted it with low fat mayonnaise which I mixed with sambal olek. I then sprayed the pan with olive oil and fried the fish. I cut up some veggies microwaved it for just 2 minutes then tossed it in the pan after I finished the fish. It was yum.

Also try having baked or steam fish with apple sauce.

Hope this helps
