Welcome Jasmine

Hi Jasmine. So glad you found us. I dont know much about big busts, I'm on the minimal side there. However, I do know about breaking the program. I am actually out of contract now. But I recently spoke with a consultant who said to give my original program a solid go and see if it works, before paying for a new one. It seems to be working. I've put on about 20 of the 40kgs I lost about 3 years ago, without doing the refeed, due to extenuating circumstances. I would definitely give your original program a good shot and see how you go.

Sorry to hear about your experience o'seas. Now its time to focus on getting your life to what you want it to be. We are here to help with that, & you will have any questions answered & plenty of support. Enjoy watching the weight fall off:)

The Old Me I cant pm you. You have to clear some space.

SMS I appreciate the fact that you have gone to the trouble to set up a special site but I feel a bit like L Jay. I am comfortable on this site and am concerned that if I wander too far , then I won't know where anyone is posting and will always be site hopping to find the latest posts, I have registered but think I'll stay here, for now.

Big bust

JASMINE Hi, I am also a "busty broad" and know how you feel but my advice is to take it one day at a time, lose the weight and then see what you think. If you feel a bit top heavy consider your options then. Don't let perceived future body image put you off, especially if the image is negative, you need to feel all GOOD about how you want to look in future, as its such a motivator. As for skin sag... I am in my mid 40s and have not had skin sag so far, after a loss of nearly 25kg all up. I am expecting to be soft and untonedunless i pull finger and do some excercises at some stage but can't see bits of skin drooping anywhere. Lets face it you can always increase your weight a bit if you feel you need to or stop a bit earlier if you really feel you have lost enough. Good luck I say. It will be worth it.

Hi everyone, finally I have time to post. Kids are off to school, reading groups done, and I can sit and enjoy for a little while. Well my scales have moved again this morning :) :) :) :) , and the ketostix are showing pink today which means I am definately burning fat, and no more cravings or hunger :) :)
Sorry sms, I also agree with L-jay and the old me, this place, and these people saw me through my previous attempt at this, and it really feels so familiar and comfortable. I feel like I can say anything on this site, and never be judged by people. It just feels like home.
Jasmine, I had always thought myself rather large in the bust department (DD), but you seem to be more blessed than me in that department. After I lost the 35 kg last year, my bust did decrease, so much so that one day my 10yr old was having a cuddle when she kind of patted my boob and then turned to me and said "Mummy, it's not a pillow any more, it's more like a pillow slip now". I was in stitches for ages and when I really looked, I thought yes it is a bit like a pillow slip now. So you can probably look forward to a bit of loss in that department but as everyone is different no one can say how much. On the issue of goal weights, I am nearly 40 and also thought their goal weight was too low for me (57-60 kg), so when I did the program last year I went down to 75 kg, but would like to be between 65-70kg. I think I would look haggard if I got too small. I lost 35kg and found that although I did have a bit of floppy skin, it wasn't too bad. They say it takes 6 months for the skin to catch up after you finish.
Ready to lose, the email looks good, hope you get a response soon, and get some answers. And to everyone else who has just lost your clinics, don't let it get you down. I never went in to the clinic, always found the support much better on here. It sounds a bit like they didn't know their clinics were going to be closed down. Might have been sudden and beyond their control. Who knows!
L-jay, good to see you're still powering away. Have the "happy hormones" kicked in for you yet. I'm feeling terrififc!
Lizzi, thanks for that fruit info, I always try to under estimate rather than over estimate when on this program. Funny, every other time in my life I have always over estimated.
Anyway everyone, have a great day. Sorry if I missed anyone.

rjm happy hormones have kicked in, in a big way. Woo Hoo. I am almost jumping out of my skin. Refeed, here we come!!!!! However it is sunny but chilly here today, and I've been sitting here too cold to move. I go to work after lunch, so I'll warm up then.

Hi All, newbie bloke here.... aka Big Daddy, big bloke, chubby etc etc...well after trying slimfast, weight watchers (only bloke in 30 odd women), soup diets (high Cabbage content isn't very sociable) etc etc I have seen friends have fantastic results with the Cohens programme - well done to all those on the forum for the great results. At 36 with 3 beautiful daughters I am determined to unleash the slimmer man within...are there any other blokes out there willing to admit that they don't like being F.A.T. (hush my mouth)...the downside according to my daughters is that they won't be able to jump on my bouncy castle (belly) mmm.

Re-feeding - someone mentioned a reaction or trigger as foods are re-introduced - does this refer to instant weight gain - dodgy tummy??

And yes, I do have too much time on my hands writing on forums with 3 daughters!!! isn't working from home great?

Post Christmas 118kgs - now at 110 and preparing for Cohens start this Friday - will they starve me? Target is 75 (wish me lots of luck) - how do I get one of those fancy tickers thingies??

Excellent L-Jay I also can't wait to do the re-feed again.
Welcome Big Daddy, good on you for joining. I'm not sure how much food men get, but women don't get that much, however you do go into ketosis so you don't really get that hungry. On re-feed, trigger can have either effect on you.
To get the ticker, just put the arrow on top of anyone's ticker and click, and this will take you to the ticker factory. Choose the ticker you want and then copy the BB code. Close this site and return here (you must be logged in), go into User cp (top left hand corner), and then edit signature, and paste the BB code in here. You can preview your signature to check it is ok, and then save. To change you just do the same, but when you get to ticker factory it will have your previous weights showing, just change the weight, copy the BB code again, and paste your new signature.
Good Luck

Hi everyone,

OMG, I go away for a couple of weeks and all hell breaks loose.

You all sound as though you have everything under control. Welcome to the new cohenites, don't let what is happening throw you off.

I heard that Melbourne, Cheltenham and Mitcham were owned by the one person and he over-extended the business and got into financial difficulties and had to close.

Now for my thoughts:

1. If you have only recently paid then try and cancel your payment. This is easier if you paid by credit card just ring your bank. If you can't cancel then ring Perth which I believe is "head office" and let them know you are not impressed. Good business means that they should at least make some arrangements with you. You can then rejoin and get some guarantees about follow through.

2. For me the issue is refeed. I have spoken to Colin in Geelong and he told me to continue with the plan and the blood tests and he would provide support. He told me to contact him after I have had my next blood test and he will make sure that Dr Cohen gets to see it and the feedback comes back to me.

3. This is a good excuse to drop everything and sabotage our success. Don't do it, we are bigger (sic) than them and can overcome all obstacles put in our path. Look how far we have come already.

4. I was never one for meetings etc., thought I was real good at doing it by myself, but now I it is being taken away from me I am a bit off balance. If anyone wants to lets get our own support group going. We could arrange to meet either fortnightly or monthly and just help each other along the way. I was going to the Mitcham clinic and had no contact other than you guys with anyone who went there or who is on this plan.

5. Apart from what is happening which is beyond our control, this is the best thing that has ever happened for me. I have never been able to stick to a diet in my life before this and I am now going on nine months with a loss of all but 60k so far. Yayyyy. The program does work!!

Well if this is the biggest problem I face today then bring it on.

Thank you all for the support and friendship you have offered I for one have found it invaluable.

Hey Big Daddy your daughters wont know you. Yes you may hink you are going to starve but you wont, in fact you will wonder how you ever did it before. As everyone says get through the headaches and lethargy of the first three days and you will be fine. They say men loose quicker so enjoy the ride.

hey hey hey

How is everyone?
Long time no speak - I've been back in pig-out land for ages (but miraculously haven't gained any of the weight I lost) I too got quite a shock when I realised all the Melb clinics had closed - I'm now dealing with Geelong - they were fantastic on the phone and will take great care of all of us. It suits me fine to not have to go to weigh-ins. I'll just get my blood done as per normal and get them to fax the results through to Geelong.

So what's goss ladies? I'll have to spend a bit of time catching up on all the old posts to see where you are all at.

Good to be back on the wagon :)

Minx xx

Hey reb,

Yesterday I mixed my yoghurt with my mango allowance and it was great! Try mixing it with some fruit and it will give it some flavour. Use and artificial sweetener if its not sweet enough.

Happy Wednesday

Hello to you all. :)

Gosh, everyone in this forum is so positive, it's really contagious, such a happy, supportive place!!!

In regards to an earlier mention of the three day horrors, I didn't suffer any h unger pangs, headaches or anything in my first three days, I felt fantastic from day one, I was one of the lucky ones. I even found that I didn't need to make my cracker quota and some days would only have the one piece of fruit.

I do have a question though - While the issue of eating fruit has never been an issue for me, if you don't feel the need to make up the cracker or fruit quota is this detrimental in any way? It's not like I am trying to reduce my food intake, it is simply that some days I simply don't feel hungry enough to have them.

Also ... I had the most delicious breaky this morning. I hard boiled my egg, then mixed it with my mayo allowance, curry powder and a little parsley and spread it all on my two cracker bickies.... YUMMO!!! It was really delicious!

In regards to Diet Coke, it now tastes sickly sweet to me... funny how our tastes change.

My kids are rapt - SIX kilo loss in a week... they do the hug test every morning... see how tight they can wrap their arms around me, they will be marking little measurelines on their wrists soon they are so excited!!!

How wonderful to have a bloke in here - welcome Big Daddy I hope you find your journey as miraculous as I do. I am only in my first week here, but have lost 6 kilo ... I had to stand on the scales about eight times because I simply couldn't believe any weightloss could be so rapid! It's the most wonderful journey of discovery.... :D and I wish you well as you take your step onto it.

Thanks again to everyone for your wonderful advice - I spend my lunch break reading all the latest posts, it's like catching up with friends.

Have a wonderful day

Leanne

My favourite quote ....

The pain of discipline is nothing... compared to the pain of disappointment.

Such a wonderful group of people

Hi all

I would firstly just like to say a great big thank you to you all out there in Cyber Cohens land. It is wonderful, inspirational and comforting to know that there are others out there like myself. Thank you.

On the note of Cohens closing in Mitcham. I am disappointed as I said earlier. It's ridiculous and wrong. I am hoping that Geelong will be able to help us, if not... ladies... we may need someones refeed to work with.

Minxy - i think you are being a bit sneaky!!! No more pig out land for you my little Minxy. Think Cohens.... and think small butt!

Reb - bad news I am afraid. Plain natural yoghurt is exactly that. It's plain and it's natural. (And it sux!!!!) The vanilla one will have more preservatives, sugar and yukky non cohen stuff in it. To ease the yoghurt pain, I mix mine with sweetener and then add mango chunks.

Jude - thanks for the info, the support and the smack as well. God damn it.... on with life and Cohens we go! Thinner us, we will be. With our without Cohens Mitcham.

RJM - lucky with you in the boob department. I was blessed (Yeah right!!!) TWICE in the bum department and they forgot to bless me in the boob deparment. Half my luck hey!

Big Daddy - welcome aboard. I think you will be amazed at how much take away you eat, as well as how much you 'eat when you are not thinking that you are eating" (this was my killer!)

L Jay- what are happy hormones? (pass me some please.... I am tired, cold and hungry!)

To everyone... I have to run... just got called into a impromptu meeting.

cheers, and happy slimming!

Hey Reb, I have been doing the Yoghurt thing for years now because I simply cannot eat cereal. I have eating Yoplus Lite every single morning for about 3 years now and it is the best low fat tasty (not ghastly) yoghurt I have ever had - so much so that I cannot even stand to eat the very creamy Greek yoghurt.

It has similar characteristics to its high fat cousin except the carbs and fat are at the low end. It is creamy and easy to eat. Only thing is that it is a very popular yoghurt so when I find it on the supermarket shelf, just to ensure I have it in constant supply, I always buy around 4 tubs.

Hope this helps.

Tania: Good to hear from you. Shouldn’t be long for you now.
The broader company would have to be responsible to get the refeeds to you. Bad that they didn’t set you all up with info first to relieve all of this stress. They should know that keeping you all motivated is important no matter what the circumstances. There is no reason why you shouldn’t all get your refeeds and info, so try to hang on to that. I am not a heavy one for complaining, but Carissa is right, you should make sure they treat you rightly even though I would expect it will work out OK.

sms: I guess I feel the same as some of the others – I like the site where it is. It does feel like ‘home’. Was going to register but then I wasn’t sure who I was signing my personal info over to, etc. It feels secure on Yahoo, even though public. As for recipes etc, the Cohen’s website has good recipes and we can add in our own to that site.
You are right about how long it can take to find something – that can be frustrating – but there is no guarantee that won’t happen on the new site. And did you say you paid for it? That was a very kind thought and I don’t want to discourage you – just that it would make us dependent on an individual rather than a large organization you could expect would keep going and Yahoo manage the site efficiently, protect our personal info, and shield us from advertising and spam. Hope you can understand my thoughts on this. Interested in what others think.

L-Jay: I have to be able to move the main number on the ticker once per week – although it doesn’t always happen does it! Thanks for noticing. And I just keep saying to myself that the tortoise always arrives!

Jasmine: Welcome back! Hope you achieve your goals. Go for it! As for the big bust – I’m told that you won’t really know the answer to that question until almost the last few kilo. Don’t worry, it will all become obvious … and it is great fun watching the new unfolding because you can't guess the order of where you lose.

the old me: Hi there! You are nearly in the single digits, which seems very close. Hope you are travelling along well. You don't post so often now.

Tasm82: So nice to see your hubbie’s ticker up there too – does he know about that by the way? And does he know he can post too? The pair of you are going along so well.

big daddy: Welcome!! Glad you posted. You will be so proud of yourself when you do this. Men seem to get some faster results, so that will be interesting to see. Also keen to know what ways the men’s programs are a little different to the women’s – you’ll be able to fill us in. Roll on Friday!

jude: Your ticker has moved a long way! I bet you look very different to when you first started. Are you getting positive feedback? Have you had anyone not recognise you yet?

reb: They are right about it having to buy plain yoghurt – it won’t work otherwise. Apart from the fruit and the sweetener, things like cinnimon and nutmeg can also help. I love the Vaaliah and the Tamar Valley in the low fat versions. Better than Jalna for my taste buds.

Minxy: Another person back – glad you kept it off! Time to get serious now, you can do it and you will be there before you know it. This is something you can knock over and then move on to the next issue in life. No time like the present, so look forward to seeing you forge ahead.

Magiclea: You sound very positive yourself and it is great to hear from you. Seems your family are supportive as well. Lucky you for not feeling like you need the fruit and biscuits. After the first 10 days it doesn’t matter. Just one caution though, as I have read people’s posts I have found that sometimes people miss this part out and then forget when they are hungry that there is something legitimate that they can have and reach for. Don’t sabotage yourself, and always have it there just in case, cos you can have them any time.

Also was wondering about your delicious meal this morning with the egg, mayonnaise, etc. (Isn’t it good how the simple things can taste so good?) But wondering if you had the full measure of vegetable that has to go with it. Leaving something out in the 3 meals is like adding something in. Good that you have joined us.

Jasmine: I haven’t tasted the Yoplait lite yoghurt – I looked at the label and saw that it had a higher carbohydrate & fat count than the other ones I mentioned. Don’t know if you had realized. But hey, if it is working, why not?

Well I walked in from work tonight and because there were so many posts I thought I would respond first. Time to put the feet up now, and some fruit and biscuits will go down well too.

I'm Back!

Goodness Gracious! I'm away for a week and then BANG! I'm faced with hundreds of messages and heaps of newbs.
Welcome to all of you, you've all made the right decision and you'll never look back!
To all the regulars sorry i havent been there to support you all . As you know just a few weeks ago my grandad was diagnosed with Lung Cancer he was given a prognosis of 1 year without treatment. Unfortunately they were wrong. 2 weeks ago he was admitted to hospital and passed away on Thursday. the funeral was yesterday.

I learnt something about myself. not once did i break my diet. i found increadible strength in routine. for the first time ever i haven't turned to food as my support and i think this is the beginning of a REAL change in me.
I realised that conversation with a friend, a hug from family and a loving kiss from my husband is enough sustenence for my soul.

I have read all the posts and have been monitoring evryones great Successes. You are all marvelous women full of so much positivity, guts and dedication. Hopefully as my life starts to return to normal i'll be able to get to know you a whole lot better!

My ticker has been once again adjusted in the downwards direction. Woohoo

Yoghurt Repost

Welcome to all the new people. A special welcome to our new male member, good on you.

Also so nice to see you here again Jude, keep on keeping on.

My apologies to those who have read this before but I just had to comment on the yoghurt thing. I hated plain yoghurt but now I actually like it and I was so surprised about that!

So I am reposting these comments ....Tamar Valley classic plain yoghurt is great, very creamy and smooth and not at all bitter. Quite bearable on its own when you get used to it and yummy with sweetener and cinnamon and sometimes stewed or fresh apple as some others have mentioned. Its my fav meal and I never liked plain yoghurt!
Two others that will do in a pinch are Yoplait and Nestles low fat plain, both creamy but not quite as thick and lush as the TAMAR VALLEY. Its made in the North of Tassie , in the Tamar River valley area... yum yum yum . Enjoy... I can't imagine stopping my breaky routine now. I think I'll eat Cohen's style breakfast for ever. I look forward to it and practically lick the bowl each day! LOL
In fact I can now eat it without any additions, although I still prefer some sweetener.

New post starting here..... A friend tried the Gippsland yoghurt and said that is good too but I can't vouch for it. Like someone else( sorry, can't recall who it was as I read a lot of posts today) I buy several pots of yoghurt at once as it is so popular it sometimes runs out. It has a long life so usually the use by date is fine for at least 3 to 4 kg at once!

Lizzi, thanks for asking after me. I am a faithful lurker and read the posts all the time but don't always have anything to add, so often just read. I am making good progress and am so near to the end now that its quite exciting.I feel as though 12 kg is within the normal bounds of overweight which many many people have to lose. I am soooooooooo enjoying nipping into shops and buying things which are not the biggest they have. I am wearing size 12 jeans and had thought that would be my lowest size on the bottom but now think maybe 10s eventually as I have 12 kg still to lose!!!! It is almost unbelieveable to think of size 10 clothes as I am sure many on this forum can understand. I am noticing how close you are too, your journey has been a long one and you have had a lot of weight to shift but you have done it and it is very inspiring for everyone else.

A thought for the people who wondered about whether to be baggy or not. I personally have ditched each item of clothing the moment it looked too loose. I buy temporary jeans etc from Vinnies if I don't have anything in my multi sized wardrobe which I hadn't been able to fit into before now and wear the same clothes repeatedly. I feel that if I have fitted clothes which are the right size, it will make it much harder for me to let any weight creep back on. Also I am very very proud of myself ,like what I see in the mirror now and I want to show off. I want people to notice. Its been a long time since I felt good in my clothes and pleased with my appearance, so I am relishing it.

Its not all good though. I have nibbled and snacked a lot over the last month and remembered that about 3 months is a bit of a danger period on diets which would explain things. I weigh and chart my weight every day as I need to have that constant reminder of what I am doing , so I added up the kilos I had lost altogether this month and it would have been almost 6kg if I hadn't had several increases and go slow periods along the way because of my eating behaviour. So all in all my month's loss is actually less than 3 kg and it has really taught me a lesson, as I would have been almost finished if I had stuck to the program 100%!!!!!!!! Damn.

Ah well, I am still here and still doing well despite my slips.
I love this site and can't imagine stopping my daily visits. I think I'll move into the life after cohens site in time and continue my daily reads as well as my weighing and graphing. I know I will never be able to let my guard down and I'll have to be ever vigilant but at least I won't ever have to lose this much weight again and it should be much easier to maintain post cohens.

Bye for now... Lizzi look what happens when I am encouraged to post. I go on and on! LOL
