I contacted my consultant and she said even the sugar free V isn't allowed :(

Four week check-in

Just completed 4 weeks on Cohen's.

Have a 6 kg weight loss. I feel pretty optimistic about this given that I had one week of travel, when I did not lose any weight.

As I have another 30 kg to go, I appreciate any tips from those of you who have lost more than 6 kg in a month. What have you done that helps to lose weight?

During the travel week, broke down and had a non-Cohen's dinner three times during the week at business dinners. Am back on the wagon now through.

My biggest challenge - thoughts of tempting treats keep floating through my head. Think I need an incentive plan for myself to keep focussed and not stray.

The good news - I have to use a belt to keep the pants from falling. And I have started to give away the clothes that are too loose.

Cheers,

Hi all - so I have picked up the re-feed. Talk about confusing - it is very detailed and specific with things changing each day. Basically it sounds a lot like the plan Tash* received - steady increases in protein/vegie allowance each day, adding 1 slice of bread tomorrow (unreal), 3 slices by day-7 and eventually adding cooked carbs (eg: rice/potato/pasta) by day-11 and alcohol by day-15. It is a 16-day plan and I had planned to start today since I am 2kg off my goal weight and I had thought that was when the re-feed started, but it seems you are meant to be at goal before starting re-feed so not sure what I will do... I will call the clinic and check. The quantities do get very big, eventually adding 200g "new protein" and 200g vegies on top of my existing allowance. I find it hard to imagine eating that much food again, but I'm sure I can manage!

Karol - to answer your question, I slipped up about 2 weeks ago and drank 2 glasses of wine - other than that I didn't break the diet at all. The girls at my clinic are pretty impressed with the speed of my weight loss, as am I. My tips are: don't eat all your fruit allowance, don't eat any of your crispbread, eat soup for at least 1 meal a day, drink the tea each night. I will let you all know how I go on re-feed...

Congrats on your weight loss Money Penny you must be so happy ! :D I still have a fair way to go :( but I am almost half way now.

When you refer to the soup, which one are you talking about? I didn't see a soup in my plan, or are you referring to a recipe in the back of the booklet?

Kim - Thanks for your message. With regards to the soup, I have been making soup for lunch each day: basically take chicken allowance and use cauliflower for your whole vegie allowance and boil it up in about 350mL of water with curry powder and chilli flakes (if you like it hot). Let it simmer for about 10 mins and use blender or bamix to process it relatively smooth, I loeave some bigger chunks and voila! I figure if you eat yoghurt for breakfast and soup for lunch, your body is bound to process these meals pretty quickly since they are basically liquid anyway. I have found that this has helped the speed of my weight loss quite a bit. I have also found that beef doesn't tend to work as well in soup as chicken does and that other vegies produce a more thin or runny soup, as opposed to the cauliflower which gives a lot of thickness to the soup. Give it a try!

I called the clinic, they said I could hold off a few days before starting the re-feed but I am so over the whole thing and I am freezing cold and quite hungry and I loosely fit in to all size 10 clothes, so I think I'll start re-feed tonight. Apparently you do lose more weight in the first week of re-feed and I don't want to set an unrealistic long term goal weight for myself... Just the thought of finishing is so tempting and Tash* and I have the same goal weight and I notice she started re-feed at 66 too so, here goes...

Oooh Moneypenny congratulations you have done really well. Less than two months is very impressive. Best wishes for refeed.

Hopeful1 you have done very well even with the trip away. I wouldn't be surprised if you manage to lose even more next month. I only ever averaged 6K per month and have now gone down to 4K per month so I can't help you. My D2 sends one item of clothing to a "good home" each week as she shrinks out of them. I think this shedding of clothes is very good for the physic as is part of moving onto the new you.

Gayegel, did you reach your Easter Monday goal? Looks like you are going to be really busy, maybe you wont have time to think about the food.

Carissa, I think you will probably get away with it. Just don't think that I did it once so I can do it again. Try not to get on the sabotage train, at 28K you will be finished in no time, so just try and be 100% true.

Kim j01 isn't it always the way!

ICIW have you come to any decisions yet. Are you looking at getting your refeed? You have been here for everyone, always offering support so I am dying to see you take the next step. Must have been something about February as both you and MP have managed to do it in two months.

Karol, howdy. You have about the same to lose as MP and ICIW and look how quickly they have done it. I agree with Ridiculous, stick with it 100% and you will be shedding clothes like there is no tomorrow. Make yourself No.1 and drink the water!!!

Ridi you are so strong, I admire your resolve. Isn't it interesting how determined we become when it happens so quickly. Does it say anything about chocolate? There should be a special day for that surely!

How are the rest of you going?

I see that my clinic is starting group chat sessions one morning a week, does anyone else do this? Before I found you guys I was dying to find someone I could talk to who would understand, but I am not sure I would have been prepared to go face to face. What do you all think and did you go?

people are noticing.

I cant believie it. 6 people at work say they have noticed my weight loss. I havn't told anyone. I guess the face looks different and my clothes are getting loose since the carbs are gone!! I have staved my self in the past and havn't had this kind of an affect.

Does anybody get a funny taste in their mouth? I am also going to the toilet every 20 minutes. It must be all the fat leaving the body - flush flush it goes.

I guess there will be alot of attention over the next couple of months as I shrink shrink shrink. I just have to learn to handle it. I don't want to tell people as yet as i know as soon as I tell them how little I am eating they will lecture me that it is dangerous.

How does eveyone handle the attention?

Karol - be careful about the "funny taste". Does it taste acidic? You could be producing acetone and harming yourself - I would suggest getting Ketostix and testing your urine. Ketones are good for weight loss, too many ketones can be dangerous. Ask your pharmacist or read the leaflet inside the box for an understanding of ketosis and acetone production, or else search the net.

New at all this!!!

Hi all... just decided to take action over my ballooning weight issue at 23 yrs ols (and so has my husband!) As you can see by my ticker i am 133kgs and planning on shedding over half of my body weight. Contacted Clinic and went for our first initial blood tests today, paid the fees and posted our forms away. Now it is just a matter of time before we recieve our Lifestyle plans.

Reading all of your posts has actually inspired me to take this challenge of regaining my life back head on. I didn't know there would be this much support for anything. I feel that with this forum if i am having a low day there will be someone to give helpful advice or if not reading these post will inspire!

Looking forward to the months of conversations and support!!

Very new at this and excited to think i can one day (Near future for sure) i will be a thinner more happy ME!!

Tam

Here we go!!

Well, I've had the blood test, paid the money and have an appointment next Wed to collect my plan!!!! :p Scary I have to say, but I'm ready.

Thanks to those who replied to my questions about this plan and shift work - even if it slows things down a touch, it seems it should be ok.

I've a friend who is already successfully doing this program and she is soooo motivated to help me along too!! hopefully with her support and this forum, it will make the journey a little easier!!

:)

Hi All

Kim Thanks for the tip on the V I was hoping the answer would be different but didn't think we would be able to have it, was worth a try !!

Jude Thankyou for that and i definately wont be letting myself do that again I have felt nothing but guilt since !!

Tasm82 & Ready to Loose COngratulations on the big step you have just taken you wont look back !:)

Money PennyThanks for your info on refeed it is great to read posts from all of the people like you who have made it so far :D

Hopeful16 kilos is a fantastic loss for a month I would be very proud if I was you. I know we all want our weight loss to go quicker than what it is, but if I think back to before I started this program 6 kilos in a month seemed impossible !!

Only one more week until my first weigh in, the inches that I have been loosing have been decreasing every week which concerns me a bit. I think this is the first time in my life I have ever looked forward to getting on the scales....Can anyone tell me waht this tea is that I have heard mentioned ?

Well what can I say. I have basically been too ashamed of myself to post on here!! I lost 7.5kgs after being back on Cohens for 4 weeks, then - duh - I've fallen off the wagon AGAIN!!!!! I think my downfall is weighing myself. I managed not to for 4 weeks, and when I do, I blow it, and as a result in the last 3 weeks have put on 5 of the 7.5kgs I lost. I can't get my head around this. I was feeling great, and getting lots of positive comments from others, and I blow it again. I wasn't going to post on here until I got it together again, but I need the support. And Diamonds, your post encouraged me to get back on here. I feel like such a failure. And I'm embarassed to even post on here, because you are all doing so well (don't get me wrong I think you are all amazing btw). I just hope I can get it together soon and that there is someone out there who can relate to what I'm saying/feeling. Don't pay attention to my ticker, its totally up the creek.

ok now I am getting worried. Its to late to go the Chemist its passed 10pm to get the sticks. I have a really dry, mouth even though I have drank over 4 lits or water today and I am going to the loo every 20 min. I couldn't undertand the info on the web. If I am producing acid I could in a lot danger. Any have any further info what can I do?. Please reply

Good evening everybody, so many posts, which is really good to see. Welcome to the new people, welcome back to those who have decided to post again (good on ya!), and to all those doing so well, I'm impressed.

Things are slow wight-wise for me this week, but I am sure things have to speed up soon, so I will just mosey along, confident I will get there.

L-Jay: Don't let your slips stop you from posting, because this is the place to get motivated. Shame about the 'shame'! We all do our best but none of us are perfect, so we face our slips and move on. If this was easy the world wouldn't be so messed up about food and obesity. So just do your best, I know you can do it, so you go for it, and see if it can take you a bit further this time. Best news = still down 2.5kgs.

Ready to Lose and Tasm82 - good for you for getting started. Look forward to getting to know you in the next few months. This plan works whether you are fast or slow at losing, so once you get through the initial shock and the first week, I hope you start to feel good about it all.

karol: People will see soon enough, and then they will be asking you. Worth checking as moneypenny says if you have a strange taste in your mouth and it doesn't go away. Probably fine, but worth the check.

moneypenny: so glad about the refeed. I have read a few people's now, and they are all that bit different - allowed things on different days, but the principles are the same. I'm so pleased for you - great effort!! Keep us posted won't you? We are really interested in how things go for you now.
Also, was wondering how things are going now after the work bombshell with your husband - any good news on the front? Been thinking of you.

kim_j01: Hi! Good to hear from you. Thought you might like to know there are some other soup recipes on the Cohen's website, and back in this forum somewhere. They are worth trying. I like the chicken and asparagus & the chicken and mushroom best.

hopeful1: Considering you were away on business, you did well. So be pleased and really go for it 100% in in this month. I know what you mean about the belt - belts will become your new best friend!

Sorry about the people I have missed out, there have been too many for me to keep up, but I have read them all and continue to be impressed by so many people all doing their best and getting results - you are a great caring bunch and I appreciate your input.

Have a good night,
lizzi

Another Newbie

Hi Everyone,
I went to the clinic tonight and I go for my blood test tomorrow morning so hopefully will get my program early next week.
I have to say that I am totally depressed after being weighed, but as so many of you have done incredibly well it gives me hope, infact if it was not for this forum I may not have even gone to the clinic, so thankyou everyone, you have all inspired me. Now I just need to get the plan and stick to it !

How much is too much water??

Hi Karol, I would just like to know what your required water intake is? You may be drinking too much??!!!!

Karol: Just read your bit on the web - our timings crossed and I missed it until after I posted.
First thing: don't panic. If you aren't feeling any other symptoms, then that is good. Going to the loo when you first start is very normal and we have all been through that stage. Eventually the body gets used to so much water.
Second thing: there is a thing called ketosis. Now I hesitate to reopen the topic because not everyone on this program goes into it. If it is because your body is burning fat, then that is safe and healthy. It can give you a funny taste in the mouth, but there is nothing dangerous about it. When you check with the sticks it will show that there are ketones and will change to a shade of pink or purple, but the glucose indicator doesn't move. this can happen for some people - it didn't happen for me on Cohen's but I have experienced it on a previous diet, no worries.
Where there is a concern is if the glucose also changes, and there is a link to diebetes being out of control. It is probably the safe fat burning, so if there are no other symptoms, then just go check tomorrow to be sure.
Hopefully all is well,
lizzi

i CaN i WiLL: Have you ordered your refeed yet and has the hunger settled down?

Kim j01: sorry about the V. I think it might be because of the guarana and the effect that has.

Diamonds: Welcome back and so so pleased about refeed. Go for it! Wow! You are almost at the end now!!!

Me again!! ....REFEED>>>> HERE I COME !!!!!!!

Thank you Jude for you beautiful words XXXXX You have made my 'somewhat crappy' day, so thank you -- nothing to do with Cohen's, just work crud!!

I went to my clinic today, I have the BEST consultants!! - After a chat & a weigh in & a chat....I decided to order my refeed, especially after the rather scary episode where STARVING HUNGER consumed me & I would have cheerfully eaten anything not nailed down!! ;)

So, Re-Feed has been ordered for me today, I should have it by the end of next week....maybe even quicker.. :)

The overwhelming hunger was very weird & not once have I wanted to deviate on this program, even purposely going to chocolate factories & buying loads & loads of sticky buns etc. & forcing my poor husband to eat them!!! But when that overwhelming hunger hit me, it was unbelieveable  Really testing the belief I have in myself. -PLEASE, if you feel like this & your near goal weight, you MUST see your consultant or chat to them on the phone, you maybe in need of your re-feed.

wanttolose & Tasm82 - WAY TO GO!! You have taken a very positive step, one which will be guided by the lovely gal's on this forum, their support & encouragement is second to none!! All the very best - here's to success & health!!

lizzi - You are awesome, no matter if it's a slow week - you have my utter respect!! XXXXXX

L-Jay & Diamonds- I am so happy you both posted again, no matter what you've done or haven't done, you have the courage to face up to it & move on, all the power to you guy's YOU CAN & YOU WILL !!! XXXXXX

Carissa - One more week will fly! Good luck on the scales, I'm sure you'll be very pleased - ANY loss is GREAT!!

moneypenny - It's you & me Babe on the home straight! Well done - Thinking of you!! XXX

kim_j01 - :D YOU SO HAVE TO MAKE THE SOUP!!!!! Take it to work in a flask - absolutely devine!! Fills you up & I'm sure the chilli helps to speed up the metabolism ( I noticed weight melting off me when I had spicey soup in the arvo! )

I have got to rest my eyes.....they are almost closed......OH ------WHAT A DAY! Night night guys, all my thought's are with you, here's to sleeping away a few more inches!!
