i CaN i WiLL: WELL DONE!!!! You are so close and still so focused, and you can be so pleased with yourself. Sounds like you managed really really well!! We are also so grateful that you shared it with us. I can't wait to hear about your refeed and after life, so I hope you keep us posted, even if only a bit. Have a great day! You must be looking and feeling fabulous at this point. And I love the way you keep saying that something is better than chocolate! I get it!!

ridiculous: all the best for you. And that sounds like a good effort you are putting into your social life. I have found that as you get older it becomes so normal for people to have health problems, that it is a common thing to say: no I can't have that, and although people still give you a tough time, the peer pressure is much less. You also get more bold.

Netski: Ohhh popcorn. I remember that .... I think. I can still smell it as I sit here at my computer. But today I think it is the Choc-top icecream that I miss more!

karol: 4kgs is a fantastic start! You must be so thrilled. It is interesting what you are saying about not even being able to imagine yourself smaller at your Cohen's set goal. Sometimes it is really hard to believe in yourself when it feels impossible to reach. Maybe that is as far as you need to go - but it will be really interesting to see as you approach the goal you have set for yourself, if you want to go that bit more. Doesn't matter really, but when the time comes you will be so proud of yourself and you will know what is best for you. I am glad we are going to get to share in that transformation process.

Have a good day all,
lizzi

Soup Recipes

i CaN i WiLL I love the idea of a life-after forum - you will have to start a new thread and keep it going until I get there!! If you can last that long. Great idea anyway.

Now here are the soup recipes. The first three were posted on the forum by myshy on pages 37 & 41 so I have reposted them. I do so wonder how myshy is doing in her life-after.

Chicken & asparagus soup

300ml water or water from tin of asparagus
Asparagus - fresh (pre cooked) or tinned
Onion (allowance)
Chicken (allowance)
Parsley (allowance)
Salt & Pepper to taste
Curry powder (optional)

Chop chicken finely and cook in some water for about 10 mins. Dice onion and parsley. Combine all vegetables, including asparagus (bite sized pieces) and add to the cooked chicken. Add a small dash of curry powder if desired. Add as much water as desired for the consistency you like. Stir and cook for a further 20 mins.

Then run bamix or blender through it roughly to get the consistency you want, and add salt & pepper to taste.

These recipes are great because you can add as much water as you want so that you have a 'bigger' meal, without increasing the amount of ingrediants.

Roasted Tomato & Cheese soup

½ Tomato Ricotta and Mozzarella Cheese (allowance)
½ clove Garlic (allowance) Herbs to taste (parsley/oregano/basil – allowance)
Chilli seeds/powder

Spray small oven dish and roast half tomato with chilli and garlic in low/moderate oven until carmelised. Remove from oven and cover with hot water and let sit for 10 minutes. Blend contents in small bowl, garnish with basil if desired.
Combine grated mozzarella with ricotta to form small dumplings and drop in soup.
(I found this one didn't work as well if you add too much water)

Cauliflower & Chicken Soup

Chicken from allowance
Cauliflower 3/4 veg allowance
Onion 1/4 veg allowance (not to exceed 2 TSP)
Curry Powder (approx 1 tsp)or to taste
Salt and pepper to taste
approx 300 -350mls of water
Chop chicken into cubes, cauliflower into florets and onion into slices
combin in a saucepan with the water and bring to boil then simmer until chicken cooked thru and vegies are tender. Then blend but leaving a few chunks of vegies and chicken.

Another option that I have had is chicken and mushroom soup - just substitute mushrooms instead of asparagus.

PLUS ...

Seafood Soup
prawns (allowance)
vegetables (allowance) made up from clove of garlic, onion, half a tomato, and a touch of something green like capsicum or zucchini or celery.
pinch of dried coriander, garam masala, tumeric, curry powder, salt and pepper.

Weigh prawns and place them in a bowl
Add spices like the above or any other combination that you personally like and mix until it forms a paste around the prawns
Add garlic, onion, and green vegetable and mix in. Leave out tomato
Cover and leave in refrigerator for at least 10 minutes, but as long as you like

To cook:
Spray a non-stick pan
Add prawn mixture and make sure all the paste is in the pan
Cook prawns on both sides
Add about 350mls water or more if you prefer
Add tomato, chopped
Gently simmer until prawns are cooked and flavours are merged
Turn off and allow to sit for a couple of minutes
Can fold in mayonnaise allowance if you choose
Pour into soup bowl and eat with spoon

Basically any combinations made in a pan according to our allowances will work, and add 300-400 mls water according to preference, allowing all the juices to merge. Can be eaten as chunky or pureed as we prefer. I have made it with beef and mushrooms and spices and loved it, but it looked pretty yuk when pureed - tasted great though!

Whatever your choice, ENJOY!!

Thank you The Old Me, Lizzi and i CaN i WiLL for your encouraging support. When I fall off the wagon, I need a day where I can have some "me time" to refocus. Today is the 1st opportunity I've had to do that. So it's my official "Back on the wagon" day!!! I've been able to identify one of my main saboteurs as being tiredness, which means I have to take time out to look after myself. I have also learned that it takes time to maintain focus, and if I take that time, it doesn't matter what situation I find myself in, emotionally, socially etc, I can do this. I feel like I'm starting this journey all over again, but I'd rather do that than give up!!! Thanks for not giving up on me.:)

Re-feed

:) Hi Lisab - I pick up refeed this week, can't wait!! Thanks for the congrat's , means a lot to me - keep you guys posted!! XXXXXX :)

Hello All

Have been having trouble getting on the site too not sure whats happening..

Well has been quiet a weekend it seems everyone in the world around me is able to eat all of the junky food around and not put on a thing. Only one example is went to a concert Friday night and on the way back 4 out the 5 people in the car (me being the fifth) went into a shop and brought bags of potato chips. I had to sit in the car on the way home while they all ate them and it nearly killed me I have a serious obsession with potato chips !!

RidiculousHow did you go with your two out of three things this weekend ??Hope it wasn't too bad for you Also I think the life after forum is a brilliant idea it will keep those of us that are still going in touch with the guys that dissapear..:)

L-JayGood on you, I think it takes alot more courage to come back and say you lost it for a while than what it does to not post at all. You will be back on track in no time. ;)

JamMY GOD 10.3 kilos is so inspiring to read you must be so proud of yourself that is an outstanding effort !! :D

I can I WillYou are amazing what a sensational effort on your behalf, doesnt it amaze you that people can be so nasty ! You would think that people who know you would be supportive and encouraging not come out with such nasty comments its so hateful ! :( Also I think the life after forum is a great idea people seem to disappear after they start their refeed ! :)

KarolHow did you go with your two functions ??

Well hope you are all doing well back to work tomorrow have made up some soup to take it seems the colder it gets the hungrier I get !!

Out on my own.....scary!!!

Oh my god, had to reboot my computer to factory settings because of a virus - then I couldn't find this forum again as it had been cleared from my favourites list!! Freaked out - didn't realise how attached I was to you guys!!! :(

Well ladies, they say it aint over till the fat lady's singing......well this lady certainly isn't fat anymore, but the refeed is over and I am definitely singing!!!! :p

I made it through, had my FINAL weigh in on Friday and I only put on 20 grams throughout the refeed (I was quite amazed at that because of my naughty chocolate indulgences over Easter!!) So, my final weight is 66.3 kgs, which makes me a size 10 (in most brands, some I'm a size 12) on the bottom half and a definite size 10 (although some brands I'm an 8!) on top.

Am a little nervous about going out on my own, but I know that whatever happens, I will always have my program to go back to (if, god forbid I put on a kilo or two) and the main thing is that I now feel in control of my weight for the first time EVER!!! And you all need to know, the food we ate before is SOOO overrated - I went to a bbq yesterday and ate a sausage - felt sick for the rest of the day - ewww!!! (Although, on the flip side I had avocado today which was yum, and half a dozen strawberries dipped in nutella - mmmmm!!)

Netski- Aaarrrggh, my boyfriend actually swears by savacol as some dentist ages ago told him it was good, I've tried it, but it makes my mouth feel gross, is it really that bad to use in the long term????
Well done about the loss by the way, you'll be there in no time!! (Sorry for the question, I know this isn't a dental forum!!)

I Can I Will - You have done an amazing job, and all your posts on here are so inspirational for everyone. You go girl, you're nearly there!!!! As for the green eyed monsters - as Beyonce says "If you've got it - flaunt it!!!" And girl, they're just jealous cos you had the nouse to go out and get "it"!!!!

Lizzi - You too have also been an amazingly inspirational poster!!!! Haven't been able to go back and check but how much has your ticker moved since I last posted - doesn't look like you've got too long to go girl - you'll be there in no time!!! Am still tracking down that Jamie Oliver spice rub for you, will post soon!

One of the greatest 'side effects' of this program that I've found is the positive effects on other people - since starting I've had two close friends sign up, and am so glad that I've been able to help them to make this change!! Which is exactly how I started, my sisters friend did it and lost 23kilos. I now understand why Cohen's doesn't need to advertise, we are like walking billboards (all be it small ones!!)

Good luck girls!!!! Every single one of you can do this, and you are!!! Use each other to boost you up and help you get there, you have all certainly helped me!!!!

So, Thankyou to all for all your support, suggestions, comments and giggles....I could never have done it without you!!!!!

Mwah mwah mwah!!!!!

Tash xoxox

Tash* what can I say? I am just so impressed. You have done it!! You have faced it and achieved and now you have what you hoped for. I am so proud of you for getting there and so pleased for you because of what it will mean to you. Thank you for sharing your journey with us - it has been our privilege.
If you want to keep looking in on us and telling us how things are we would love it - as often as you feel like it. It would be fabulous! It seems there is such a freeing, that most people stop posting at this point. We want to hang on to everyone for as long as we are here, but I understand the need so many have to move on. Just know we are all interested - keep in touch if you can ... and start enjoying!!!! Go for it!!

Congratulations Tash

What an amazing effort you are such an inspiration to the rest of us here slogging along. I wish you all of the luck in the world for your wonderful new skinny after life and hope that you will keep in touch !:D

Hope you all have a great day....

Well Done Tash

:)
TASHWhat a fantastic effort , you must be on cloud nine at the moment. It must be a wonderful feeling to be back in control, and to be in size 10! I look forward to hearing how you go in the "real world" . But we're all hee to get you back on track( I'm sure you won't need it though) to have gotten so far you must have increadible will power .
In regards to Savacol, i can only give generalised advise but in my opinion Savacol is to only be used in the short term7-10 days, but please check with you dentist or hygienist before stopping there may be a reason why, but also remember there are a 1000 ways to skin a cat( i hate that expression) my way will be different to his/hers. It's not a bad product, it just has a very specific role and there may be other options . I'm sure your Dentists has your best interest in mind.

Wow though, what a week,i've completed my frist week and i lost 3.1kg, i've learnt a lot about myself, my eating habbits and also about what we are capeable of, when we really put our minds to it. I had a family reunion lunch yesterday and was really worried about having my own food. While everyone else was stuffing themselves full of apple cake, i just sat down with them and ate my allowance mandarine. And while they ate lunch, well so did I , just i had prepared it earlier and reheated. I felt the first inclings of control and not just as a one off thing, it felt natural....I LOVE IT. I really am looking forward to sharing my journey with you. My best friend who's also on cohens is moving away so i'm going to need as much support as i can get...i'm a people person. I hope to gain some individual strength while i'm on this journey.

Take care have a great day

I'm hoping to go shopping for something warm and cheap to go with the clothes I have - and I am really looking forward to it because I can shop at normal stores now!! It is a wonderful feeling. Won't have a lot of time, but looking forward to it. Last week I bought a black shrug on special and the XL was too big. Also bought a nice green top that almost fits, which is a size M. I am so impressed. My work environment is pretty good temperature wise, so I am just looking for another long sleeved thing that will complement what I have. Really careful about buying things because I will grow out of them so quickly, but need warmth!! And I love the specials because you don't get the same kind of specials in larger sizes.

Slight move of the ticker this morning. Every little bit counts.

Hello

Hi All,

Great to read all the posts - everyone seems to be doing so well.

Welcome back l-jay - we will all be here every step of the journey with you.

Great going MoneyPenny and ICIW on your re-feeds - really proud of you both for getting there! Well Done!

Has been quite a crazy week - I had my daughters 4 year old Birthday Party on Sunday 33 children (I didn't think everyone would rsvp). Happy to say it was a big success - but lots of hard work....lucky it only went for 2 hours - the longest 2 hours of my life...

I didn't even succumbe to a party pie! I gave the leftovers to the dogs - that way I wouldn't be tempted.

The sleep thing...I didn't sleep very well last night either - I should have after my day! When I weighed myself this morning I too had put on 500 grams.

Off to Sydney tomorrow for 2 days - so lots of preparation tonight with regards to my meals.

Have a great week,

Lisa

Congratulations You guys are terrific.

Tash for finishing and getting under her goal.
ICIW for being there for us and her idea of a forum for life ever after.
Lizzi for not sleeping and still moving her ticker and for finding the soup reciepes and reposting them.
Lisab for your willpower.Do you take Chrominium? I found it releivd a lot of those hunger feelings.
L-Jay for sharing her learning experiences
Carissa for resisting those chips.
JAM for her fantasic beginning!!
Karol for a great first week.
Wanttoloose for taking the first step. You wont be sorry, so don't worry about those scales, you will see some movement very quickly.
Tasm82 for starting - there are some of us who have been on your journey (50+K) so your in the right place.
Ready to lose and Netski for starting. Welcome!
Gayegel for beating your Easter goal and for being able to do all those meals.
Ridi another 1.5K! not to be sneezed at - its GONE.
Me for a great weekend another 3 cms and just 'cus "I feel good".

Who said they were tracking every step and keeping a preadsheet and graph etc.? I have started what I call my final countdown. I have set weekly goals and am now tracking daily with the aim of being at 65K by the 11th August. This is all consuming so I decided to just go with the flow. I am interested to find out how I lose over the month because I suspect that I do well one week and then stabalise and then struggle and then achieve and start a new month. I want to see how inter-related my weight, mental status, measurements, water intake, vitamins, food are before I finish so that I can use this in the ever after.

Sorry

Sorry, I didn't proof read my message first. Now you have to decipher all the spellos and bad grammar and letters left off words. My work colleagues would be surprised.

I was too busy trying to keep it short for a change.

LisaC well done, I bet the dogs enjoyed the feast. Did they get fairy bread? Best wishes for you Sydney trip.

Re-feed: DAY 5

Hello ladies - I too could not get on to the forum over the weekend so could not update you on my progress or catch up on your stories...

Re-feed is going well, increased portions, a "good fruit" each day (2 per day as of today) and a piece of bread which I have with my fried egg and saute mushrooms and tomato for breakfast. It sounds like it should be filling me up doesn't it? It sounds like I should be struggling to get through it all, doesn't it? Well I'm STARVING HUNGRY all the time! So bizarre! I was very relieved that I didn't get a bad reaction to bread, as my consultants said a lot of people find they can't eat it once they try it again on the re-feed. I bake my own bread so it is very healthy, maybe that has something to do with it... As of Wednesday, I can have 3 slices of bread per day, so a piece with breakfast and maybe a steak sandwich or chicken burger for dinner... Looking forward to it! I must say that I have been more tempted to cheat since being on the re-feed than I ever was during the diet. I felt like drinking wine on Friday night (didn't) and after making a Thai pumpkin soup for my husband yesterday, really wanted a serve of that for lunch rather than my watery cauliflower and chicken soup (but didn't). I just mention it as a bit of a warning - I can I will - you may find yourself here in a week or so! DON'T ANYONE CHEAT AT ANY TIME - IT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH IT - I PROMISE!

So now I fit in to everything in my wardrobe, mostly size 8 and 10 or small and Xsmall, which is an unbelievably good feeling. The most AMAZING thing about my weight loss though, is I have barely lost any of my boobs - I am still a B/C cup, which is a great relief! I am wearing a shirt today that is a size 12 and I actually ripped it under the arm when I was a fat person, trying to get it off. Today it looks ridiculous, but I had to wear it just for the sake of it! I cannot tell you all how different I feel about myself and I encourage you all to stick to the program 100,000% because I can promise you it will change everything around you and within you for the better. I can't gush about this program enough and if anyone needs additional motivation, just let me know. I really want to see us all graduate to life after Cohen's, so don't worry, I'll keep posting and try to keep you all motivated. You are all a wonderful bunch of people! I saw my GP yesterday and told him about the program - he said something that I will never forget - hopefully it will inspire you:

"Once you have done it, even one time, once you have taken control of your weight and said: 'Yes, I can change this, I can get this under control' and you have succeeded, you will never have a problem again. It is more psychological than physical really: once you know the tools, the method and the technique to get your weight down, you won't ever have a problem again, because you will know how to fix it, maintain it and cope with it forever."

I really think that is what this program does for us and it certainly has done it for me. Keep up the great work, ladies!

Exercise

Before i started Cohes i was exercising a lot- at really high intensity and for long periods of time. This week i have only managed to get out 2 times and i found i coun't push myself, i got really light headed and felt like i was going to be sick, i even fell off my bike today!

Could someone please give me some ideas on most ideal time to exercise( after a meal, before a meal) should i eat straight after.

Let me know what you've all tried, I'm getting really restless

I have been trying all day to get onto this forum, for some strange reason I couldn't get in. Maybe too many people are using it.

Tash, congratulation on getting to the end. We all look forward to being there in a couple of months time.

I blew it yesterday.

Function 1. I didn't stick to my plan of one meat and salad. I faced a buffet. There were heaps of healthy options, I couldn't resist trying the fish, beef and chicken and three types of salads. Before this diet I would have thought that it was ok to eat heaps as long as it is healthy even though the volume couldn't even fit the plate! Then I thought I may as well have some hot chips since I have blown it anyway.

Function 2. Wedding, ate everything they served, "I kept on telling my self lies that this day doesn't count, I will start again tomorrow, this is what I did in the past and tomorrow never arrived"

Good news is that I went back to my plan today. Because of the lat night I had breakfast at 10.00 so now I have to wait to 8.00 to have dinner.

I am pre menstrual and feeling really hungry today. I keep having sips of diet drinks to fill me up.

I am scared get back on the scales after a blow out, so I will wait a few days to see how I am progressing.

Thanks to all of you for asking how I went on my 2 functions!
The answer is pretty good! I had a beef salad for lunch - it had a mustard dressing, which I ate a little bit of, but I definately ate no more than my allowance - proably even less because I was so paranoid! And drank nothing but diet coke and water. All good.
Dinner was okay. Had a greek salad. It was actually a very Cohen Friendly greek salad because it had a massive amount of lettuce as the base! I ate a couple of bits of olive - opps - but again, was prob under my allowance on the other stuff. The hardest thing yesterday was getting to my water alllowance. I prob only had about 1.5 - 2lts yesterday.
So, two down, one to go tomorrow. Should be okay. We're having lunch, and there aren't too many options around work that could "surprise" me, so I'm much more comfortable abot that after surviving the weekend.
So, back on track with my water today, and only ate 2 crispbread, and an apple. I really don't want to have a week of no loss (cos that's what happens if you cheat according to the book), but I weighed in this morn (broke my own rule!), but hadn't put any on, so I'm hoping that that is a good sign.
But thanks for all your support! Phew! Who would have though that a little thing like eating out would cause such a stress! I can't wait until I don't have to keep this up! Well, after this little hiccup, I have a clear calendar, so bring on the home stretch!

Oooh - forgot to tell you all. Tried on size 14 pants in DJs on Saturday, and guess what - They fitted. Like a glove! Didn't buy them, because I figure if I wait another couple of weeks - I might be a 12! It's getting silly though, how big some of my clothes are. My pants even look silly with a belt these days! But hopefully only another couple of weeks!

Talk to you all soon!

Bella

Newb-

As you all know i'm new to cohens so no doubt i'll have heaps of questions.

Do you need to eat all your fruit and crispbreads ?

ridiculous- well done with your success at the function, it's great that you can identify your portion sized( apprx) my sight and that you stuck to your guns. What an amazing moral booster!

Carol- Head up, well done to returning to the program the very next day, what can i say..... learn from the experience . Spend some time nurturing yourself and resetting your emotions. Good Luck and keep in touch
