Good Morning All

First off congrats to Kim & Lisa C for sticking with your eating plans over the weekend thats a great effort.:)

MoneypennyI cannot beleive it took the people at your work so long to comment that is crazy 19.5 kilos is such a big loss how could they not have noticed earlier ! I told everyone at work what I was doing I knew that it would be extra motivation becuase we have so many morning teas and lunches and they wouldn't let me get away with breaking it !!

Well guys today is the big day it will be the first time I step on the scales since I have started I have not given into the temptation to weigh myself once. I'm SO nervous :( I will post first thing when I get home and let you all know how I went keep your fingers crossed for me !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you all have a great day..

Pink Virgo: must be nearly time for your next blood tests and conversation with the consultant. Hope things are going well for you. Just because you are not posting, you are not forgotten.

Miss Kath: You must be there by now. How's it going?

hopeful1: It seems ages, but maybe it's just that there are so many posts. Hope you are progressing well. And on track.

karol: Thanks for the encouragement!! It is appreciated. Hopefully things balance out for you after Sunday and that you are losing again.

Pink Lily: Welcome! Once you get started, it will fall into place. If you go to the Cohen's website they have a recipe section. Good ideas under egg or under breakfast. Hope that helps. Look forward to seeing your progress.

moneypenny: I am sure they noticed something - I'm just glad they finally said something!!

L-Jay: Thanks lots!! I'd love the logie - always wanted one of them - but then the new wardrobe would be extra great. Can't wait until the time comes and I have a whole four seasons of clothes I will buy bit by bit. So exciting!!

Tasm82: Mine took 8 days and I think that is about average. Have you started by cutting out sugars? carbohydrates? That can help with the detoxing the system. It will make things a bit smoother when you start.

Netski: Good for you! Fortunate for Vinnies! Sounds like you have seen some food results already. Go for it!!

Carissa: So looking forward to knowing how you went. It should be a great surprise if you have stuck with it. Let us know.

See ya all later,
lizzi

Carissa good luck on weigh in.

NetskiI recallyou were the dental girl. Do you know what effect fizzy drinks have on teeth. In the past I had alot of teeth problems, a filling kept on falling out at the time I drank around 500mls of diet coke a day and didn't have suger in my diet) my dentist said it had something to do with diet coke (I can't remember why) does that hold truth for other diet drinks as well?

Thanks

'morning all it looks as if everyone is so positive, or at least those who are posting are. To all of you who are just reading if you want some support just let us know.

PinkVirgo how are you going? Also Cryss, you were the first to welcome me but you haven't been around for yonks.

Lizzi, I made the soup and I love the asparagus, which is interesting because I didn't think that I would. They are very filling.

Karol don't beat yourself up over your fallout look how quickly the days past and that is now so history. Hope you have been able to stay on track. Did you measure?

Kimj01 how good are you!! Well done.

Pink Lily at the moment I am just having yoghurt with sweetener, but I do like fried egg and mushroom done in a non stick frypan. I also luv cauliflower steamed in the microwave and then covered in the cheese and grilled until brown.

Ridi isn't it great to try something on and then not buy it because it is going to be too big in another couple of weeks. What a turn around in thinking. Remember when we would try something on and buy it aiming to lose a couple of kilos so that it would fit! My how those days have gone.

Miss Kath congratulations. GOAL!!! You will be joining ICIW in the after life soon.

Carissa, I agree, there are things that I post here that not even I knew about myself and I would never tell them to anyone else. So thank you special people for understanding.

L-Jay we understand you and someone will always be here so go for it. Enjoy Sydney and be warm while you can it is still bloody cold down here. Hey I think you are doing awesome as well. I bet when you started that you didn't think that you would lose 20k so quickly and feel so positive about it all. Maybe you should do something like JAM and reward every 10K or maybe even 5K 'cos that would give you 7 pressies instead of 4 and a bit.

Tasm82 I understand your frustration as I was the same - made the decision and raring to go. Ring the clinic and take the first time that they offer. Read the book and plan what day you want to start. Remember your program revolves around this day forever. I started on a Sunday which means that I must have my blood test on Mondays, because they must be done within a day of your start day, if that makes sense. Whereas if I had of started on Tuesday, I think I would then have had at least Tuesday or Wednesday to have the blood test.

Netski are you telling me that when I get to 82K I will be in a size 14!!! That'll be a first. Well done, I think that getting rid of your clothes is all part of the bigger cleansing. You are doing soooo well!

Hey Lizzi, I just noticed that you have done 100 posts. Thanks for all your support and common sense.

Carissa I will keep dropping in all day to see how you went. Can't w
ait.

Newbie!!

Hi Everyone!!

I am a new member to the forum, and have just signed up to DR cohen's program (I'm getting my 1st blood test today :( ). I have always had weight problems, ever since I was 5 years old and have gone from one extreme to the next.

I am really hoping that this program is what I have been waiting for, and that it will help me get back to a normal happy life!!! If anyone out there has any advice or tips for starting the program it will be greatly appreciated!! I am very nervous about it but am trying to think about the potential results that I can achieve!!

Thanks everyone,

Katie:)

Quick Hello...

Hi guys!

Wow, so many newbies. Welcome all, and congrats on your choice to start your new life.

Well, as you can see by my ticker, I'm just over halfway there. 16.8kg lost in 13 weeks. I'm slowly but surely getting there!!

So I had my 12 week blood test and finally got to speak to my consultant over the phone about the results. It came back deviate, which I was expecting as I'd had a couple on non-Cohen meals in the last two or so weeks before my test. My consultant couldn't offer any further explaination about my slow loss ( note that my losses PRIOR to deviating were very low, usually 500 to 900 grams a week ) but again it was just the "some lose slower" theory. I asked about another program and she said that it really wasn't a possibility ( but then went on to say that three of her clients had been able to order new programs for different reasons - kinda confused me a bit ) , but she did say she'd look into it. Apparently there's some big conference in Melbourne in two or so weeks, where all the consultants are getting together, and she's going to find out three things I specifically asked her about. I'll list them here, so that if anyone has already asked their consultants and received answers about it, I'd be interested to compare notes when I get my answers....

  • Possibility of a new program for "slow" losers.
  • If different eating habits to the norm just prior to the initial blood test has anything to do with hormone levels and if so, could this explain an individuals slow loss? (I.e. girls, I was in a really bad head space JUST before deciding to go ahead with getting my blood test done, and was seriously eating like a garbage can, more so than I ever did previously, so much so that I think I put on about 4 kilos in a couple of weeks).
  • Does deviating from the program (i.e. eating non-Cohen meals) have any effect on the re-feed, how well it will work, if it will stabilise your hormones properly etc... or does a deviation simply mean more time spent on the program to lose the weight you would have if you hadn't deviated and/or lose the weight you put on because of deviating.

When I put that last question to my consultant, she stated she didn't believe any deviation had an effect on the re-feed or how successful it would be, etc... but that a deviation would make weight loss slower (which is what all the literature tells us). I basically put this question to her because I've now come to the realisation that I cannot stay 100% true and not have a social life. I lived like a hermit for 2 and a half months in the beginning, cos I was too scared to eat out. I realised that was silly and that I too need a life. Even though I will chose to stick with Cohens-friendly food, I obviously can't weigh my food and there could be a possibility there's some food in there not Cohen approved. Anyway, it will be interesting to see what my consultant says after the big meeting.

Just FYI, the last three weeks of my weight loss have been the best in a long time, all over 1kg loss - and these are the three weeks in which I had non-Cohen food!!! (one being a Subway wrap, another being a KFC wrap   and the other a grilled fish and salad meal at an RSL during which I snuck in three chippies:p )... so go figure!!! Anyway, I'm not telling you all this so that you can run off and cheat. Just don't stress too much over the necessity to go non-Cohen if you are stuck. I think the stress was getting to me, and in my opinion that's not healthy!!

Take care all, keep up the great work.

Pink Virgo, I'm glad to see your weight loss is speeding up a little :) You must be so pleased :D I'm a little worried to hear that they can tell if you're deviating or not though :( I haven't been very well at all lately and have skipped quite a few meals. I'm scared they're going to get mad at me lol. I do plan however to get back on track. Do they give you a lecture if they find out you are deviating from the plan??

We have our plans!!!!!

Well Monday is D-Day-start of our new life... Determind that this is going to work!!! Going to perth in the begining of June. Not going to tell my inlaws what we are doing just going to surprise them! :) Hopefully the weight will just drop off us both and we will be looking good!

Well i'll keep you informed of our Progress next week. No dout i will need some motivation. It is good as my brother is doing this program as well. He has just hit 4 weeks and lost 13 kgs. He looks fantastic!

I know we will look like that too.:)

Bye for now

Hi Guys

Well today was interesting I was meant to have my appointment at 5pm so I decided to drink all my water in the morning (drank 2 litres by 12pm) then I rang the clinic to confirm my appointment and they told me to come in at 1:45pm. So I went in and got weighed and the scales showed that I have lost 5.3 kilos which I know is alot but i am feeling a bit dissapointed. Anyway the consultant told me that because I have my period and had just drank 2 litres of water it is really going to be like 8 kilos...

So guys what I am asking you is in your experience would this be true ? Or is she just telling me this so that I keep interested ? Is five kilos good for the first month should I have lost more ? The twist is that I have lost 40 inches all over which is so much that I thought it would show alot more in kilos ? :(

Carissa: Are you saying you lost 40 inches - not 40 centimetres? That seems incredible. Good on you!!!!! even 40cms is wonderful! In 4 weeks that is fabulous. There can be many reasons why someone just seems heavier on the day: water, period, different clothing, different time of day. I would be really pleased with the result you have and just keep going and expect to see a big difference next time. You must know in yourself that there has been a change in your clothes if it's 40. So well done and good luck to you. Sure most people show more on the scales but don't let it throw you. The tape measure is telling a more realistic story. When are you weighing next?

Tasm82: Enjoy the experience and here's to the best of results!

kim_j01: You can't help it if you haven't been well. You are doing such a good job with it all. Yes it will come up deviation, but you are making great progress so don't stress over it. You will get there, I can't believe you have lost so much already - good for you. I wouldn't mind some better answers about how it affects refeed either. Hopefully we will get them! Meanwhile people are deviating and losing and achieving, and life is just like that.

Pink Virgo: Good questions!! And congrats on the weight loss. Hopefully it will continue to fall into place for you.

It's got to be time for me to get dinner, I'll catch up with the rest later,
lizzi

Lizzi - I know it just doesn't seem right to me that i have lost 40 inches but they remeasured me and it was right and everyone that knows me is saying yep that would be about right it is an all over thing. I dont know 40 inches seems too much for me but I have measured in the same spots every time it is really weird..they want me to go back in for another weigh next week but I think I might leave it and just wait till next month and do it again..

Thankyou for your words I dont think I could feel happy about my loss until I heard you guys say it was good !!

CARISSA - well done 40 inches is acheiveable, each kilo of fat takes up the same volume as a 1lite carton of milk. Measure the long side of one of those and multiply it by the kilos lost, take into account toxins which pad out cells and hey presto 40 inches what an amazing acheivement

JUDE- i really hope your into a 14 by 82, i'm sure you can't be too far away

Today has been my hardest day, i haven't strayed but i've fond out my grandad has lung cancer so i've had a lot on my mind. Its been a sad day :(
I want to stay strong and focused, healthy body, healthy mind!

Look after yourselves and remember that your body is precious and treat it with the respect it deserves:)

XxXxOoOoXxXx Netski

Netski - Really sorry to here about your Grandad, my thoughts are with you. Stay strong. :) XXOOXX

2nd day off refeed
- added 60gms Protein & 40gms Veg - 1 Piece of bread (had a little tummy ache today though....) Plus another piece of fruit. I am full!! (My daily allowance of 5 Crispbreads is now only 2 if I decide to have a slice of bread)
NO bread for me tomorrow, my tummy didn't like it 2 days in a row :( The smell of bread is better than the taste I found in the past 2 days!! - I feel weird typing that, but it's true!!

I'm not freezing cold anymore either, that has calmed down, thank goodness!! My body was in need of more fuel. I'll check my weight tomorrow & see if I can move my ticker a little.... :)

Welcome KittyKat - as you can tell the gorgeous girls on this forum are here for each other & give the best advice & support!! Good luck on your lifestyle change :) XX

Carissa WAY TO GO!!!!!!!! So Proud of you, please don't doubt yourself, your doing fantastic!! :) XX

lizzi - The numbers speak for themselves & YOU!! You are just so awesome, a true inspiration to anyone wanting to change their lives for the healthier!!! :) XXX

Yo!

Everyone's going so good!! Including me, i've got to add!! day 11, so well back on track now! i'm pretty excited. i've been reading but nothing really to add because .... i dont know. i guess i'm just getting on with it!! but definetly reading everyone's posts spurs me on. and moved my ticker again yayy!!!

netski, sorry bout your pop but stay strong!!!! emotional eating is a hard thing to overcome, but i reckon most of us know where you're coming from! (if that's what you're worried about... b'sides the bad news)

ICIW - can't believe you're on refeed too. that's insane!! bad luck bout the tummy. i hope i can stomach bread when i'm done. i luv bread!

Carissa - a biiiig congratulations!! you should be absolutely stoked with that. i know when i went in for my first weigh-in, i was like "ohhhh... "i wanted more!! even though i'd lost nearly 9kg. i know.. you just want it to happen now!! i'm guessing you must have been moderately healthy before this , maybe that's why you didn't get that massive 1st month drop that some do! (like me)

lizzi - passed the big 100 (posts, that is! the kg's are long gone!) good on ya! many words of advice and spurring everyone on! you are very much appreciated.

Tasm82 - good luck for a good start! its easy once you get into a rhythm.

kim - hope you're not sick for long! perk up, luv! its horrible being sick :(

pink virgo - you've put in so much effort, you must be so stoked that you've got the power to do something like this!!!! also, thanks for that info you posted. be interested to see the outcome.

kittykat - good luck with the blood test! we've all been there, bruises and all :( but it gets easier and just think - without them you dont get refeed!!! good luck, and this forum is FANTASTIC!!

and hey jude, everything going well with you too!!! i just love the tips that you have! very good!!! you make things that bit easier

well.. that's my bit i'm not one for long posts, so sorry if i left anyone off, not that there's a lack of support around here or anything!!!! man.. i'm having a moment now.. i luv you guys!!! see ya :p

Thanks

Hi Guys,

Thanks heaps for your replies! It's good to know that there are other people who are going through the same thing!!

Not really worried about blood test as I have them alot and being a nurse i could probably do it myself!!! Just worried about what my program is going to be like and if I will be able to stick to it 100%. Its going to be hard to eat limited amounts of food in comparison to what I eat now! but its the shock my system desperately needs. Just got engaged and I want to look beautiful on my wedding day!!!

CARISSA - This is probably true. Basically, each litre of water weighs 1kg. So having 2 litres of water in your stomach would obviously weigh 2kgs. Also, when you are menstruating, your estrogen levels rise and your progesterone levels drop. This can cause water retention which could have caused a less amount of weight being lost - or even weight gained - during your period! Also, it is "recommended" that for healthy weight loss to lose from 0.5 - 1kg per week. So 5 kgs in one month is an excellent achievement! You should be proud of yourself, a positive mind bring positive results!

Hope this helps,

Katie

The Big Day Tomorrow

Hello

Its the big START day tomorrow for me ... gosh have i just made a huge pig of myself tonight, strange thing is, is that I have been thinking the last couple of days how i can't wait to eat "real" food am over junk. Have just prepared my chiken stir fry to take to work for lunch tomorrow and prepared my apple cinnamon yoghurt ... yummo (had a tester hehehe). So yeah am excited about this whole thing, just the idea that 2 months from now I will probably off reached goal weight and have g fabulous new body with great clothes in "sml sizes" hehehe.

I just read your post PINKVIRGO and thought I'd let you know that my friend who is a "cohen's success" deviated when she did the program ... every week she allowed herself a "free meal" but she didnt go "overboard" - all the time anyway. The weird thing was it kinda jump started her weekly weight loss ... she'd be up a kg the day after her free meal but usually down 2 the day after that. It kept her sane she reckoned and gave her something to look forward too, but oddly she didnt crave heavy pastas or bread it was salad style stuff or big steaks. So it will be interesting to see what ur consultant says. I put the whole " one free meal a week" forward to mine and was looked at like i was stupid and then basically told i had no idea what i was talking about and that my friend must of been lying - hello i saw her eat her "free meals" as this was the only time she dared go out during the week. I do know that she also used the slimmers tea so maybe that flushed stuff out her system.

CARISSA ... hello 40 inches in 4 weeks is friggin awesome hun. Thats HEAPS. Many ppl measure their "fatloss" via measurements not scale readings and well sweetie you've lost stacks really if you think about it. You should be so happy hun. Still I get the whole "wanting more" on the scales. Thanks to many stupid arse diets I have often started diets with a silly idea of losing all my weight within a week - the pressures we place on ourselves is stupid. But really hun - Cohen's is great and well thats huge results for u ... i can only hope i achieve something close to yours as i will be a happy little birdie.

Will check in tomorrow. Night all and bring on Cohen's I say. hehehe

Mauh Mauh xoxox

Grrr! There has been a bit of a delay to getting my re-feed, the clinic were late in getting my consultant my blood test results, and the email she sent me yesterday asking me for some more details did not make it to me. Now she will not request it until tomorrow. And then it will be 5 business days till I receive it, I won't get it until Thursday next week! I am going to be so skinny by then, prob about 55kg, a weight I know I cannot and do not want to maintain!

I was 14 and gangly teenaged with no boobs last time I was this weight! And also this means I will be on this program for longer than I expected, won't be able to eat normal food and have a normal social life for another month!!! Grrr!

On my program, the re-feed is detailed in my book, apparently the differences are in how many days you do, not the amount of food.

So...I could start that as I planned on Sat, and just keep going when my re-feed proper arrives...I am sure my consultant will tell me to wait but I just don't think I can!

Any ideas?? Sorry to have such a whinge but so disappointed and pissed off. I have been amazed by my will power on this program, but with things like this, I just feel like the goal posts keep moving further and further away! And my will power ebbing away...

I plan to do a longer email with replies to all of you this weekend when I have more time but just needed to unload!

Thanks guys! :) Keep up your Cohens!

I've started!!

Well, picked up my program yesterday and started today - WOW! Excited to have started but am feeling a little hungry now!! Its now 1:47am and i've just gotten home from work. I must admit to have had one crispbread extra  - I figured I am easing in to it!! Hopefully tomorrow will be exact amounts only!! ;)

Glad to have joined such a great group of people who can offer support, advice and some laughs along the way!!!!

Good Morning, thankyou all so much for your messages through you I have realised what a wonderful achievement i have made and i vow to myself I will not look at how far i have to go just how far i have come. I couldn't do that without you guys ..

Netski I'm sorry to hear about your grandad it is truly heartbreaking to hear news like that, I hope that we can help you in anyway to stay strong. My thoughts are with you.

I can I will The refeed sounds so complicated and so much food I cant even imagine I think it would be as hard as sticking to the program. You have come so far and should be so proud..[/COLOR]

Lisa BGreat to see your ticker moving along you are doing so well.

Kitty Kat Dont worry about how much food you will get I cannot beleive how much food I used to eat compared to what I eat now when I think about it it makes me ashamed. I have not been hungry on this program even once you will be fine..

Pink Lilly Good luck for today congratulations on starting you will never look back..

Miss Kath Can you consultatnt maybe give you some sort of fill in options of extra food you can introduce until refeed starts ? Surely she can see that you dont need to loose any more and she is putting you at risk of breaking the program by letting your refeed take to long.

Ready to Lose Good luck to you, get straight into the correct weights and amounts I know in the first week there were many times where I thought maybe I could just have one extra crispbread and I know if I had of given in even once I would have set myself up to continue doing it the entire program..

Grrrrr!!! I just lost my post when it was almost finished. Don't have time to redo it.
SO ... I have read yours, and am thinking of you all.
have a good Cohen's day, and be encouraged,
lizzi
