No beauty sleep for me!! I simply could not go to sleep last night. I tried - not worried or anxious. Just could not sleep.

So bad for this plan - and yes, just as on the other rare occasions when this has happened, I put on weight. I dropped to sleep at about 4am, and this morning I was 0.5 heavier. That's right, heavier!!

These are the times I just have to be patient - even if a little annoyed. It is really difficult to understand my body sometimes.

Have a good day, and I certainly hope I stay awake. Maybe tonight will be the best sleep and the scales will show it.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I did a ketostix test this morning and I think the results are positive for this diet. The colour was between the faible 1.5 and Moyen 4. The colour was not anywhere near the last two colours on the chart.

Although the dry mouth is a little worry I feel like i have no saliva in my mouth.

Karol I get like that too so I'm constantly sipping water or have a peice of sugar free gum. I dunno if that will help or not.

Can't wait to start

Ready to loose... congradulations on starting... i don't know if my plan will get to me by next week as i lice in kalgoorlie but as soon as i do my hustband and i are all go!!! It's like your not too sure when you go for your tests but as soon as you know you have paid you money it like Hey this is happening... i just want my plan NOW :)

good luck and keep in touch with your progress. As for me i have at least 68 odd kgs to drop. don't know about you but i can't be happier at that daunting fact!!!!!! :)

well done!!!

well done, girls, on getting your refeed! that is so inspiring i can't wait to get mine. sounds a bit complicated, but i'm sure i can handle it! still got a good 28kg to go, but i reckon 3 months and i'll be there... maybe!

well its day 5 for me.. lizzi - i reckon there was something about our beds last night, maybe the moon, but i also couldn't sleep. i'm so hungry when i go to sleep, maybe thats why. didn't jump on the scales, because i've promised myself i'm going to stop doing it. maybe every 4 days i think, just to check i'm losing at least 1kg! but i did jump on the scales on thursday, after starting on monday, and down already, which was great! i knew those first few would come off quick though, so i can't get too excited.

Tasm82 - good luck when you start the program, hey i know friends in kal. i sang at judds once hehe

kim_j01 and Karol - hope u sort that taste in your mouth out! i dont seem to have that at this stage.

okay... not making this too long and i have to go now anway

keep going, everyone! just wish it was quicker!!! can't complain though - but i know once you get on a roll and start losing, it just can't come off quick enough!!!

Hello everyone.

I wanted to let everyone know that I have officially completed my first month on the Cohens plan and lot 10.3kg and 68.5cm off my body. I had my second blood test today and the "nurse" wouldn't listen to me when I said where the vein was and now I have a whopping bruise and a very "sorry Nurse". Small price to pay.

I have now 50 kg to go to my personal goal of 73kg though the cohens plan says I should be 60. Can't even remember being that skinny.

Does anyone on the plan eat the cheese option for lunch more than 3 times a week. I was having it each day and love it, but I have since read in my program try to limit to 3 times a week. I don't suffer constipation so was wondering could anyone else think of any reason why.

So now I am "on task" again to go for another 10 kg loss next month. I am making myself a special bracelet for this journey. Each 10kg I am buying myself a charm and at goal I will buy a bracelet to make up a very special charm bracelet to be a reminder of how far I have come. My first charm is a gold heart as I finally have started loving myself enough to really put myself first.

Off to down the next litre of water. Have a great day girls.

Julie.

MoneyPenny, thanks for the tip on the soup. I'm eating now and it's very nice although mum put a little too much of the chilli flakes in it (gotta love mum for cooking my dinner just for me :D ) I'm actually going to make up a batch and take it camping with me tomorrow.

Hi Everyone!

Gosh! I haven't checked in for a couple of days and the amount of posts to catch up on! WOW!
You are all doing really, really well!

Well, I jumped on the scales a couple of days ago, and I hadn't lost ANYTHING in 5 days. Bit sad. Plus, despite me really, really trying to get out of social events that would hinder my diet, I have 3 things in a row. Lunch on Sunday at a vineyard in the yarra valley, dinner on Sunday with a friend from out of town, and lunch on Tuesday with an old boss. All are things that I really can't get out of, without looking really rude! Damn! So I'm just going to have to try my hardest to eat the most Cohen-friendly things on the menus. I really hope I don't have another week of no loss though (having said that, my weekly weigh in is tomorrow, so hopefully I've lost something this week).

Oh well. I'll just make sure I have lots of sleep. That seems to work well for me.

I'll post tomorrow if I can move my ticker.

Have a great night everyone!
Bella

Thanks everyone for your feedback.

I am still waiting to have my first information session & to join up, so I am finding out lots from you all.

I am attracted to the results that Cohen's seems to produce.

However... I am really interested to know how easy it is to keep the weight off afterwards. I am scared that I might have a fantastic loss & then re-gain.

Does anyone know anyone who has been off for in the real world & have they regained much weight?

thanks so much everyone for your comments.

:D Hi guys, gosh everytime I check on the posts there's about 2 pages a day and new one's joining in all the time. Welcome to you all, there is plenty of support for you in this forum. Goodluck to all.

JudeThanks for remembering my easter goal, yes I actually lost 11kg so was pretty happy with that. Unfortunately this week has been a bit slower but will just keep keeping on even though I will be around food for the 2days at golf.

MoneypennyIt's not fair,:( you started 4 days after me and lost 7kg more. I feel like being a sook and sulking:p but hey what the heck at least I am LOSING which is better that putting it on LOL.

kim J0121.8 that is truly amazing in such a short time. You are to be congratulated. You must be very strict with yourself but very proud also. Keep it up.

JamThat was a great loss for your 1st month. Bet you're pleased as punch. I think the idea of the charm bracelet is brilliant and such a good inspiration to keep you on the right track. Will have to come up with something like that for myself. Maybe a new golf stick for every 10 kgs :D No even better would be a golf lesson, yes that's what I will do.

Please guys could you post your soup recipes on the forum so we can all try them now that the weather is cooling down. Thanks heaps.

Well gotta go and get some shut eye so I can be bright and cheery to help my daughter move over the weekend.

Cheers for now.

HI,
I've been following the post over the past few weeks, and you are exactyly the type of group i need to get me throgh my Program. I started Cohens monday 24th April, so i've only been on it 5 days. This year I've already lost 12kg . 10kg on another program and 2kg on Cohens ( i had a peak this morning)
Well done to all of you, your success is inspirational.
My starting weight on cohens is 86.5kg and my goal is 59-60kg. I can't wait to be petite again.
Could anyone please tell me how to make natural Yogurt taste good, i ran out of eggs this morning so i thought i'd try it - its a little lumpy

thx

Morning,

Netski - Good luck with your journey. 2kg loss in 5 days is a really good start! In regards to the yoghurt - I have the Tamar Valley natural yoghurt (you can only get it from woolworths). When I started, I'd have it with kiwi fruit, or honeydew, but now I can have it on its own. It is the best one I've found. I tried the Jalna one and I found it really lumpy, and couldn't eat it. But the Tamar valley one is really quiet creamy. Try it, and see how you go!

Well, weighed in and measured this morning - lost another 1/2 a kg. So 1.5kg in 2 weeks. That Sucks. Lost a couple more centimetres off , my hips and boobs, which brings my 6 week total to 55.5cm, so that's fairly good.

I'm not sure what I can do to speed up my loss. I get too hungry around mid morning to not eat my crispbread. And I eat an apple a day for the fibre, and I don't want to stop that. I haven't really changed anything else. I drnk at least 3lts of water a day, and haven't "cheated" once. Maybe it's just a couple of stabilisation weeks or something? Fingers crossed next week will be a big loss.

One other thing - has anyone had ulcers in their mouth? I very rarely usually get ulcers, but I've got 3 in my mouth at the moment, and they are really annoying me.

Have a good day everyone. And heres to the beginning of a big week of losses!

Bella

ulcers

Hey, Thankyou for your reply about the yogurt, i'll give it a go.
In regards to mouth ulcers, therer are three main reasons you get ulcers. First it from trauma ie- brushing too hard, cutting your mouth or a burn. Some people get them when there body's immune system is low or they are very stressed. The other reason is a reaction to sodium laurel sulphate- the frothing agent in toothpaste.
In my experience , although without knowing more i can only recommend maybe Colgate Peroxyl mouthwash , Oral B Amosan or Biotene mouth wash. I wouls also try and avoid alcohol mouthwashes such as listerine, i've had a lot of people come in to see me with a similar problem and these suggestions have helped .
I also recomend keeping dietary acid down eg- mandarins, oranges, tomatoes . As i said this is just some suggestions but please check all the ingredients on the package to ensure you're not allergic

Cool. Thanks Netski. I'm rinsing with Colgate Savacol at the moment - It helps. Are you a dentist or pharmacy rep or something? You know a lot!

I'm a Dental Hygienist. Its quite a new Industry in Australia i'm not sure if you know what one is , if you want more info i'm happy to explain but basically im into preventive dentistry. I treat people with their gum problems and i also treat children under grade 10 doing their fillings and all other dental treatment.I also do teeth whitening. Its a great Job! I'm not sure if you've been advised but savacol shoult not be used for more that 7 - 10 days. also it can really stain your teeth after a period of time. Have a great day!

I have founf liquid chromium to be very useful in keeping my cravings to a minimum? Psychological or scientific????????...... it works for me .:)

Hi there!

Much better sleep last night and all the weight that went on came off again - wheeewwww!!!! But it is a week of no loss at all so that is sad. First time in 42 weeks. It wasn't because I did the wrong thing, so I will just have to hang in there. It will happen - I am determined that it will.

kim_j01: your kgs lost are building up now and you must be looking a little different. Good on you.

gayegel: all the best for the golf lunch - you can get through it. And congrats on the loss, good for you!

yoghurt: I love the Tamar Valley one and have been having that, but someone posted about the low-fat plain Vaahlia and I tried it! Yummo even more - it is not as easy to get in my supermarket because they often only have the flavoured or full-fat ones, but it is definitely worth searching for. So thanks!!

Hi Jam: I love the bracelet idea. And I am so pleased you can buy yourself a heart, that is so affirming for you. Just imagine when you have a full bracelet - wow! And so well done about the big loss. You will be there in no time. So proud of you for getting started and sticking to it. You will get there if you continue as you started.

ridiculous: good to hear from you, even if it is only 0.5kgs. It all adds up, and you will hopefully have a better week next time. Bad luck about the social calender. I would be doing everything I could to take control. Can you choose where you go? Can you ask them specifically for the foods you want (keep it simple) and ask them to weigh for you? Can you drink your way through one of those lunches and eat before or after, and just really keep the conversation going and your guest relaxed so that they have a good time and make them feel comfortable eating what they want? Can you take your own and ask them to plate it for you and offer to pay for the service? These days, there are many people who have health issues, and many restaurants are accommodating. Do your best, I certainly understand that it takes the fun out of going out, I really feel that too. But this is your future, your health, your medicine as the program says!! You and your goals are worth something too.

amber:
welcome, and I hope you really go for it because it will be worth it. Yes I know some people who have kept it off and look good. Others who have put on a few 2-4kgs, but have the capacity under this program to get rid of those if they choose to, and in only a week or two. That is the majority. One person I know has put it on. And I heard of another couple who have put it on. All of those did not do the refeed properly, or did not stick to the program well, or did not have all the right blood tests which are used for the refeed. So do the program, have the blood tests, and be super strict in the time before refeed and during refeed. It will stay off. If it has to be managed, it is better to be managing your maintaining than always trying to lose and failing. This works, so I would recommend it.

Welcome Netski. Hope all goes well and you achieve your goals. This is a good place for support.

Have a good day all,
lizzi

So many post's So little time!!

Hiya Guy's!!

Well I did the "Impossible" - Went to the Pub for a meal with my softball team....Had Grilled Chicken, Tomato, Cucumber, lettuce & Onion!! - + Diet Coke.........Wooohoo!!!!! & then headed off to a 21st Birthday Party & Drank nothing but another Diet Coke & Water.....didn't nibble (although tempting as I am feeling the 'time for refeed hunger'.- not to mention the food looked & smelt DEVINE!!) But here I am at home - I SURVIVED the night, although - unfortunately had a team mate yell out to me as I left from the pub meal "Oh, by the way, you should eat more" HOW BLOODY RUDE IS THAT!!! Just because I look better than her now & I am not the "FAT" girl anymore!! :p I am so proud of myself & I am even prouder knowing that she (being that nasty) is annoyed about my success!! Being thin IS BETTER than chocolate!! - I actually felt comfortable in my own skin tonight for the first time in YEARS!! Maybe that threatens insecure people?? Oh well, they could (like us) take control of their lives too.

I hope that by posting tonight it might help other's when the "GREEN-EYED" monster visits them...I hope you don't have that happen, but it might. Please just remember it's NOT you they are narky with, it's themselves!! ;)

The Green eyed monster

Thankyou for your post about eating out, WELL DONE. I'm only on my first week of my program, i can't stop peaking at the scales the weight is just dropping off. However, every night i have had some kind of commitment which in the past would have been a FANTASTIC excuse to eat out. I didn't, resisting POPCORN was my hardest moment but instead i bought a bottle of water.
What i am finding hard is people questioning my meal size with sarcastic comrnts like " oh thats your entree is it?" or one girl at work pullling me aside questioning me if i had an eating disorder....THE NERVE!!!!

I'm of to coffee with a girlfriend this morning followed by a huge family reunion for lunch. Its goignt to be tough but "i can i will" made it through , thankyou for the strength!

Hope you all have a really positive day , filled with success and happiness.

You are truly an insperation ICIW! You have done so well in your journey, and i'm sure your success will continue in your life after Cohen!

Well, Lizzi, after reading your post, I have taken youradvice and I did a bit of research. I can't control lunch today, but I can influence dinner tonight with a friend. So I did some research (on the net) of what resaurants along Southbank have on their menu, and I've found a couple that have cohen friendly meal options. So I'm just going to suggest these places, and my friend won't even have to know that I'm on Cohen! (I'm still keeping it a secret from everyone). So I feel much more comfortable with today now. Lunch is going to be a little tough, but one of the people coming is one of the people who knows whaat I'm doing, so hopefully she'll back me up of people start hassling me!

So thanks Lizzi for your words of support, and ICIW for sharing that it is possible to eat out (it's my first time today - and I'm doing it twice - I obviously don't do things by halves!)

Have a great day!

Bella

Hi everyone
For some reason I couldn't access the forum yesterday, I was so lost without my daily perk up of stories.

Well today will be a big test, I have two functions on with lots of food and drink. The drink doesn't worry it’s the huge courses that does. I am determined to feel good about my self at the end of the day so I am committing to all of you that I will stick to my promise to myself to stick to a clean meal of protein and veg. I am going to focus on people rather than food.

My first week was a fantastic result of 4kg. I am now focusing on a mini goal of 73kg, which a weight I know I look good at. I am about 5kg from fitting into my old clothes, can't wait! It’s amazing how many choices open up when you start loosing weight in terms of clothes.

Yesterday I didn't experience the hunger pangs like I did early this week, the demons in my head automatically started “that’s it, its not working anymore the honeymoon is over, your body is used to it, your never going to loose all your weight nothings going to work for you, that is all the loss you will get etc...” I had to stop my self and tell my self that it worked for other it will work for me. Just stick to it.

I think a lot of you are in that space at the moment.

Have a great day
