I have been using 'hermesetes gold tablets' (about 4 in the past 10 days)... I'm confused as there is nothing on the blue container to say the ingredients??? - I threw the wrapper out thinking it was 'all good' :( Does anyone know if that conatins 'No-No's'??
:)

Had a full on 'rib tickler' laugh at the "shower of sh*t" quote....V Funny !!!!! :D

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this. Perhaps a few of us could take the idea to our respective consultants and see what they say? (Considering that they all seem to have differing opinions on some subjects - for instance my consultant told me there is NO WAY I could ever order a re-feed early - yet some people have been able to).

I look forward to hearing your thoughts. Cheers

PinkVirgo, thanks a million for this, like you I might alternate for a day or so, half a slice would be less of an impact as 2 of the crackers, so it might work out better.

Anyhoo, I'm sure you will see if it halts my progress by the non change of my ticker. But I'll post an opinion after a few days.

I'm finally here and it's for real!!

Hey hey ladies!

Months ago I joined this site with the intention of losing weight through the Cohen diet - well..........it has taken me this long to get organised!

Today I picked up my diet and am just SO EXCITED to finally start.

I have decided to start on Sunday (My baby turns 1 on Saturday and we will be having a heap of people over to celebrate - and I don't want that to be my first day!)

I think it's so fantastic how every one of you are such great support for everyone else.

I look forward to sharing this journey with you all.

Minxy xx

Hi everyone.
Welcome Minxy and congratulations on joining the party. Good idea to start on Sunday if you've got people coming on Saturday. Hope all goes well. Remember, don't expect too much of yourself for the first day or two as it can wipe you out a bit until your body adjusts.
i CaN i WiLL- have you got some Chromium. It works wonders with the cravings. I have the same Hermesates ( never sure of the spelling) as you, and I'm sure this one is fine. It's a pain that they don't have the ingredients on the package isn't it.
I think I might email my clinic about that mountain bread and ask them what they think. Sounds like a nice change, but I bet they'll tell us just to have what the program says.
I've made it through my 2nd day back on Cohens, and am feeling great. Those "feel good" hormones are starting to kick in and give me the boost I need.
Had better go to bed or I'll be a grumpy so & so tomorrow.
Talk to you soon.

Heresetas Sweetener....

I CAN I WILL and RJM - I've posted the link below for the Hermesetas website. This particular page has the info on the Fructofibres which Dr Cohen has said are a big 'no no' for the program.

As you can see, the Hermesetas GOLD sweetener now has 42% Fructofibres, which is a higher percentage than the granulated stuff I had purchased. It's a shame you've thrown out the packaging, because now it's hard to know if you've got the ok one or the new and improved version.

Sorry to be a downer guys :(

Thank you Pink Virgo
Sorry for those of you who are on the wrong one. Bit of a downer!! Been there done that!!
Fortunately the only hermesetas ones that I have are the mini- sweeteners ... and they are OK in case any one is wondering. Apparantly they put out a liquid which is OK too, but I don't think it is available to Australia.
Hope you can get it sorted out soon.
WHATEVER: START IT RIGHT FROM TODAY AND MOVE FORWARD. YOU CAN'T CHANGE THE PAST BUT FROM TODAY ON YOU CAN GO FORWARD BETTER.
Remember, you can do it no matter what hitches you meet along the way. So be positive and don't let it wreck you. YOU CAN DO IT AND DO IT WELL!!

And about Sureslim: I was told by a doctor all that stuff about sureslim too. But also that they could work out most of the stuff about the blood tests and their importance but not all of it. Also that they couldn't get the refeeds part right because they didn't work out all the info they needed. The result is that they get good results and there are more foods on it - but they don't rebalance the system in the same way and many of them put back the weight. Cohens has a hugely higher proportion of people who keep it off.
The mountain bread is nice, and we are not given enough info to work it out for ourselves. It is not always about what is in it, but how it impacts on the HGH and seretonin in the body as well. That's why some vegetables and fruits that I would call good by every other standard are NOT on our program, and surprisingly are not among the good categories in the refeed.
Still, mountain bread would be nice!! Personally, I am going for the rebalance as well as the weight loss. I want it gone for life.
Got to go,
Lizzi

Hey Guys,

I posted on this forum like a week and a half ago then my computer crashed. I was so shattered, i missed reading all youre fantastic posts!!Reading all your posts really keeps my motivation up. You are all doing so well and it reminds me to stay focused and be proud at what im doing!!

In three days i go in for my first weigh in. Im very nervous but hopefull. I still havn't cheated ( it' s only been 3 1/2 weeks! LOL) and i've now lost 35cm as of Monday. Im also due for my next blood test. Does anyone no if i have to do this before i go in for my consultation or after??

I really would like to speed this up in any way i can so does anyone have any good ideas they could share. It would be helpful. I have read that if you cut sodium, up the water and cut back on fruit and crispbreads it helps so.\

Well Thanks for all youre help guys and stay motivated!!!!!!!!!:D

Is that true?? I have been eating my crispbread and fruit religiously coz I thought we had to.

Artificial sweetener

I use a sweetener which I buy at Woolworths, its called Sugarless liquid Sweetener and its ingredients are sodium saccharin water and sodium benzoate..... it looks alright to me. Its a liquid and tatses very sweet, can't recall the price but it was very economical. The problem is no one else on here seems to be using it... that makes me nervous. If anyone knows anything about this one or thinks it's a no no PLEASE let me know. thanks Jen

Hermesetas...GOLD

Pink Virgo & the old me

I went to my clinic today & was told that the Hermesetas "Gold" type were not the ones recommended. The Hermesetas Tablets which are in a see-through container (Packaging is a LIGHT BLUE colour) are the correct ones....bugger!:(

Sugarine are ok as well. My consultant assured me it would only show up on the scales to a maximum of .1 if you have followed the program otherwise 100% So I feel a little bit more relieved knowing that & wanted to share that info with you gorgeous girls as well. It's ok, just stop using the gold ones from here on in....it'll be ok.

Also found out about the dizziness & faintness I experienced... I was going overboard with the water & not supplementing with the diet soda's enough! Because I play sport (as some of you guys do too) it is essential to keep up the energy by having fruit just before the sporting activity & also having a ' Spirte Zero ' to give you a little boost before & after the activity (remembering your allowance!). Hope this helps XX :)

WOOHOO It's Friday!!!!!

Good afternoon all

klm: good on you for 3 1/2 good weeks. The blood tests are exactly 4 weeks from the day you started. So if you started on a Saturday, then 4 Saturdays after is when it is due. I was told for the best refeed results, be accurate and never be more than 2 days out.
Like for me that meant, once I didn't have it until the Monday, and from that point on my future blood tests were due 4 weeks from the last one - being Monday. Hope that makes sense.

the old me: I don't know about the Sugarless liquid - only your consultant will be able to tell you for sure, but it doesn't sound like one to be worried about. You are allowed to have sodium saccharin, and water - and sodium benzoate doesn't have any of the endings that indicate some form of sugar. I think you are pretty safe. PHewww - but still worth checking.

kim_j01: We are told that the biscuits and fruit are to be used in the first 10 days but after that there is a choice. However they advice you to basically keep having them because it is just as bad for your body not to have enough on this diet. It is sometimes true for people that if they cut them out you lose faster - but it is not always true. And often the temptation to break is greater so it is sometimes not worth it. SO use that strategy when you get stuck. And you don't have to be drastic either, say cut out a piece of fruit or half the biscuits and that may be a good thing for a while, but then give your body a bit more by having your full allowance again. The same with mixing meals around. Good to do when you are stuck, but it is OK not to do it the rest of the time. Hope that helps.

One happy little camper.......

Hey there all my girls!!!

Well, yes, am definitely in a fanbloodytastic mood today!!!
4 week weigh in went a treat - I was a little nervous - but was exstatic when the scales said 71.2!!!! That means I've lost 8.8kgs in 4 weeks!!!!!!! (doin a little dance right now!!!!!) So hopefully at this rate I'll only have another few weeks to go!!! WwWWWWWWHHHHOOOOOO!!!!
Can't begin to tell you how good I feel right now - will definitely pick my mood up for my faux wedding tomorrow and friends engagement party on Sunday!!!! .......here come's the SKINNY bride..........

Crispbreads - I usually only have two at lunch time, seems to fill me up enough - my consultant said today that it really shouldn't make any difference if you eat the whole allowance or if you don't eat any - go figure!!

Anyway, wish me luck for tomorrow ladies, hope everyone who has a long weekend has a great one!!!!!!

Hi everyone,
Day 3 is going well and I've been sticking to the program 110%.
Can't believe that the Hermesetas "gold" are the wrong ones. That is what I have used the whole time I have been on the program. That explains why when I was doing it last year I had a vey minor variance on some of my blood tests. I thought they must have made a mistake as I had exactly what I was supposed to have, and never ate anything "wrong". I do have some sugarine as well that I bought when I couldn't get the Hermesetas, so it's good to know I can use those. Thanks i CaN i WiLL for finding that out.
the old me- I have just checked the sugarine packet, and the ingredients are Sodium Saccharin, Mineral Salts(500), Food Acid(334), Thickener(1201). Sounds similar to what you are having.
klm- How many pieces of fruit are you supposed to have. I am only allowed 2 per day!! Maybe because I was bigger when I started and the natural sugars may not be good for me. Excellent cm's lost, and I wouldn't worry about your weigh in, I'm sure you'll get a pleasant surprise.
Tash- excellent weight loss!!! Have a great "wedding" and enjoy your long weekend. We don't get one in Sydney
Hungry kids waiting. Better go and feed them.
Have a great night everyone.
Talk to you soon

The Tea

Further comments on the TEA!!!! I actually bought senna pods as opposed to the tea, as it was much cheaper. I just put between 2 and 4 pods in my usual hot drink, tea or whatever. I have had the gripes and the explosive reaction but am now a bit more careful with how many I use, usually only about 3 pods. I found this site interesting , it says that the pods are generally more gentle than the leaves, so some people may prefer trying this.

BTW I only take it if things are really going slowly, because as Nat pointed out, frequent laxative use is really not good for you.

Hi ladies,

Thought I'd share the response I got from a Western Australian Clinic consultant ( I used the recommended email in my booklet for 'comments and questions' as my consultant is out of action at the moment due to an operation). I've pasted her response below.

I thought the response was a little rude myself. Considering that only a week or so ago I posed another question about a sweetener that is recommended in our program booklets, to then find out after Dr Cohen had reviewed it that it was no longer ok, you'd think they'd be more grateful that some of us out there make the effort to actually ask them and request advice.

Clearly by the sweetener episode it shows that products can change recipe, or ingredients, or additives. I wonder if there's anyone assigned by the clinics to regularly review the programs and the items listed as 'recommended' on them? Hrm

Anyway, I'm just glad she's not my consultant. I know mine would have responded in somewhat nicer terms.

We have had this question asked before and Dr Cohen has looked at it and the answer was NO it may not be used on the program. Only the products listed in the Eating Plan are allowed. Often to us these things may appear similar but chemically they will upset the program. Dr Cohen has had all this information to look at and he replied Not to used while on the program or even while on refeeding after bread has been introduced, the answer is still no.

Anyway guys, stay good and stay strong!

Mountain Bread

Whoops! I should have mentioned that the above post was about a question about "Mountain Bread" . Duh brain me forgot to mention it in the subject line!!

TASH - well done on such a super acheivement!!! You're so close to goal you luck thing!!

I'm currently holing myself in my room... my sister has her friend over with her three kids, and they're all getting pizza for dinner... just the smell makes my mouth water!

Hi Everyone,

Good to see so many postings on weight loss! Some excellent results.

We have had this question asked before (so what?...not our problem) and Dr Cohen has looked at it and the answer was NO it may not be used on the program. Only the products listed in the Eating Plan are allowed.(so what happens when Dr.Cohen introduces something new?...how long before everyone on the plan would hear about it? How do we even know if Dr.Cohen has even heard of Mountain Bread?) Often to us these things may appear similar but chemically they will upset the program. Dr Cohen has had all this information to look at and he replied Not to used while on the program or even while on refeeding after bread has been introduced, the answer is still no.(Gee....do you think she means NO?)

PinkVirgo....don't let stupid and rude consultants stop you from asking questions. The questions are not lame or trivial to us and if they can't deal with queries appropriately they shouldn't be in the postion of purporting to be a weight loss consultant. It really does seem that a lot of the people on the forum are dealing with clinics whose main priority is not customer service. I've been very lucky in that respect, although I am sure I've asked many a stupid, lame question, some that they have heard 1000 times before - my clinic has dealt with each and every one of them appropriately.

Also, I agree with Nat regarding the tea. I tend to drink it when I have been really naughty. A kind of punishment. I also find that I don't need to go all that often when on the diet....let's face it, there's not much processed junk to try and shift through.

I'm officially on my own, but haven't had time to weigh myself the last day or so and didn't get a chance to see the 'after' plan yet. Will post again when I do all of those.

Myshy

Has anyone seen the March Cohen's newsletter?
There is a recipe there for fish that includes red wine vinegar.
I thought I was told when I asked that the only vinegar's that I could use were balsamic and apple cider vinegar?
Does anyone have a program that includes red wine vinegar?
