Hello everyone,

Just read the posts regarding the feeling weak and faint. I can appreciate those things as I was feeling that last week.:( I play golf 2 times a week and could barely make it through one of the days. I contacted Cohen's and they said I should ease up on the activity until I have completed the diet.:( I have followed everything I was supposed to eat and drink 100%. It was a scarey feeling to experience, but I am trying now to get more rest. Best to all of you and continue the good work!:D

progress photo's from moni.........

I have lost to date 45.5kg's and 176.5cm of fat.........in 17 weeks

have alot to go but I'm doing it for my children............

Moni,

You bought tears to my eyes!

If I could come up there and squeeze you till it hurt .... I would!!

Well girls, the brirthday came and went without a hitch, stayed stable the whole week which was fantastic considering I went to one of the most exclusive restaurants in Melbourne and allowed myself to eat 'normally' ended up giving 2/3rds of each meal to Patrick!!! it was hilarious, 6 months ago I would have gorged myself stupid! I had half a glass of beautiful wine with ice and drank about 3 mouthfulls so it was all great, I enjoyed my milestone and stayed safe in the scales department.

I have been quite ill for the past week so no reading, no posting, and I can't believe the number of new faces on the forum. Great to see so many people joining in and supporting each other!

To my girls in the hood, Mel, Moni, Kaseysmum, Joysey, Myshy, Healthymum, Rajah, and Nat keep up the great work. I'll speak to you all soon.

a little something for all the newbies to think about ...

Water WORKS! Joyseys Tea WORKS! Weighing yourself everyday OR every week OR every month WORKS! (just understand the complex machine that is your body and don't be too dissapointed when you weigh yourself everyday and see no change).

Stay good stay safe and get skinny...

Talk soon kiddies!

Hi Everyone,

I have just signed up with Cohen's and recieved my plan on Friday (yes right before the long weekend) I decided not to attempt the impossible and made a decision to start tomorrow, allowing me to enjoy the weekend away w no worries etc. I read and read the plan and jumped on the web and looked up the cohens site and got some great recipies. I bought a journal and am going to track what i eat and do and just general life stuff ... i figured may as well work on all aspects of weight loss rather than just the physical.

Anway I have pre-prepared my meals for tomorrow and am actually looking forward to tryin them out. Judging by most of the posts here you tend to lose a big amount the first week ... so heres hoping i reach my first goal weight of 70 kilos this week.

Looking forward to getting to know my fellow shrinking sistas.

CIAO BELLAS xx:)

Realistic expectations?

Hi girls - a question for those of you further ahead on the program than I am:

I have been blown away with the size of my loss so far, but I'm not realistically expecting my body to be able to keep up this pace of weight loss beyond the first couple of weeks. I am really hoping to be at goal in time for my friend's wedding to 20th May. I figure that a weekly loss of 2kg (or monthly 8kg) will get me to goal in time. Do we think this is realistically achievable? I know we shouldn't weigh too often and I know I need to look at my weight loss on a monthly basis, and I understand the rationale behind this. My question is, all things considered, have others experienced an average weekly loss of 2kg in the longer term or average monthly loss of 8kg?

I'm not obsessing, I'm just trying to plan ahead!!

Glad to hear everyone is doing so well, too!

Nat, does this mean soon enough you will be able to have bread and your body will have adjusted so you wont bloat?

Cryss, glad to see you had a good birthday. It's also great to see the amount of self control you have leant from this program. You should be proud of yourself.

Also, has anyone experienced loss of appetite? I'm assuming it may just be lack of variety that is putting me off right now and I just need to use a little more imagination. What do you guys think??

Hi Moneypenny,

There is an upside and a down side to only having to lose 16kgs as opposed to 60kg.

Upside is .. You don't have that far to go .. Downside is, closer to goal harder to shift.

I would recommend being absolutely vigilant with your water and monitoring what you eat, when I say monitor what you eat, the moment you see your weight stalling, change your eating habit, flip your meals around, try Meal 3 for brekkie or something like that, you will continually need to keep reinventing yourself during the weight loss process.

These are just my thoughts, would be great to hear from anyone else who only had a small amount to lose and is nearing goal?

Kim_j01- I have been allowed bread since day two of refeed, starting with one slice daily, but now up to 3 slices daily if I want (I dont- its too uncomfortable) Refeed is designed to help the body adjust to the way it reacts to certain foods including bread, but I think its more in terms of the way bread affects blood sugar.
Bread can cause people to retain water and bloat and I am one of them. In fact I find it quite uncomfortable. And the gas... you dont want to know!

I did expect this though. I react the same way to pasta and only eat it rarely for the same reasons.
So at the moment I am still having bread, but just one slice every couple of days. And i expect I will probably still react this way after graduating from Cohen's.

Cryss- Glad to see you back, babe! And totally impressed with how well you handled your birthday dinner and weekend away!
;) Nice work!

Moneypenny-- In regards to reaching your goal by May 20th, it depends on your body, how much you have to lose and how well you stick to the plan. At a guess I'd say you should be pretty close. Maybe ask your consultant? I know my consultant had a fair idea of how long it would take me.

loss of appetite....

Hiya Kim_j01

"loss of appetite"

Yes I too have felt that way. The thought of food sometimes has not been appealing & I have had to make myself eat... I have no idea why?? Perhaps our tummies are too full of water??

Vita Weats

Wow DIVINEMISSNAT - your on re-feed and eating bread. One thing i have been told about with this diet is that basically we are detoxing our bodies of crap and that come re-feed time our bodies will let us know quickly what we dont tolerate eg bread and milk. Maybe due to your reaction it may have to be left for "special occasions" - Whupper bread is meant to be pretty good, my friend suffers from "the bread bloat" and swears by the stuff. I persoanlly think its gross. hehehe.

I have a question ... i am confused w the biscuit part. Some pple say eat them others say skip them, other say eat them and when weight loss slows down then ditch them. I am going to follow my plan till i am in the trow of things but i was wondering what brands you guys use ... i bought vita weats but am curious to know if i can eat 5 off them a day or is that just the ryvitas? Any help would be great.

Going well today being my first ... tired and grumpy thanks to bad day at work but following diet. am having fillet steak w garlic mushrooms for dinner tnite which will be yummy. struggling w the water but will work on that. lots of toilet dashes.

Ciao my bellas xoxox:)

Hi everyone and welcome to all you newcomers - there's so many of you! Just thought I'd check in and say hi. All is going really well with me. I've been off the diet now for nearly 3 months and doing great. I have maintained my weight without really having to try too hard. I tend to be really good during the week and then on the weekends I enjoy myself - have a few glasses of the wine and the like. I think staying away from the carbs has definitely helped maintain my weight. I have yoghurt for breakfast and tend to have salads and stirfries for lunch and dinner. I eat bread very rarely as I feel very uncomfortable afterwards, so I find it's just easier to stay away from it. I still haven't tried pasta which is amazing for me because before the diet it was my absolute favourite food, but I'm worried how my body will react to it. I've only eaten potatoes once, but they gave me really bad stomach pains so I've stayed away from them too. I don't seem to miss these foods that I was absolutely addicted to before starting Cohens, so I don't feel like I'm denying myself anything - I just don't feel like them. Anyway, enough about me ...

Sounds like you are all doing great.

Moni, you look absolutely amazing in your photo - you look so much younger! I imagine you feel like a whole new person.

Cryss, happy belated birthday. Sounds like you had a great time and a beautiful dinner.

Nat and Myshy, congratulations on reaching your refeed. I bet you gals are looking fabulous!

Beck, sounds like getting back onto the program is a bit hard. My Cohens consultant told me that if ever I wanted to lose some more weight, to first try just cutting out some of the "bad" foods and not weighing the food, rather than following the program. Don't know if that might be worth a go? Are you still going to Curves? I try and go about twice a week and I love it!

Stay positive everyone and stay on the wagon - IT'S WORTH IT!

Lisa :D

Sweetener...

Hi ladies!

Glad to see you are all doing so well. Keep up the great work.

It's also great to hear from those who have been on the program and have maintained since re-feed.

Well, I weighed in this morning as it's day one of week 6 for me. 1.1kg lost last week. Am happy, but am pulling out all the stops from now on to assist.

I've bought some of the dieters tea that everyone seems to rave about.. had my first cup tonight. I hope I got the right stuff!! I'm interested to see if this has an effect on the scales for next week.

I feel a bit stupid actually...  Hehe I've been occassionaly using frozen pre-cooked chicken breast meat for a chicken salad. It only dawned on my the other day when I actually read the bag of the chicken which stated "Pre-cooked for your convenience!"... I then read my program again and sure enough, no pre-cooked meat. Whoops!! Won't be using that anymore!! :p

As for not using something anymore... SWEETENER ladies!!! I know I posed the question some posts ago if anyone had spoken to their consultant about the sweetener Hermasetas.... WELL! I spoke to my consultant over the phone before my appointment last week, and she had no idea if the new recipe for the sweetener made any difference. ( FYI Hermasetas now have added "Fructofibre" - which concerned me because of the name, I figured Fructo meant fruit derived ) . Anyway, dilligent little me searched the net for an explanation for this added Fructofibre and sent it along to my consultant via email. When I attended at my consultation she hadn't really looked it over and still didn't no if it was ok to use. However, today I got an email from her and she stated that after passing on the information I supplied her, Dr Cohen has now said Hermasetas cannot be used on the program!!! For those of you who currently use it, don't stress as you may not have the newer formula. Like I said, the new recipe has added Fructofibre, so if you use this one you'll have to change brands. I was a bit peeved, as I've been using it since starting the program and have the stuff daily. I just think, if it wasn't for my question it may have never been discovered that a 'recommended' sweetener shouldn't be used!!

Anyway, I hope this gets out to all of you who might be using that sweetener. I've personally switched to NutriSweet.

Hope you are all well and stay strong and focused!! I'm tired as and heading to bed after a long shift at work.

Take care :)

It's moving time again girls!

PinkVirgo the effect will not only be on your scales it will be in the loo too! be VERY CAREFUL when you take it, because it effects your next day .. either at work, or shopping, or socialising, for your sake I hope you are at home with no-one around to hear you scream!

Anyway team .. looks like there is life in the old girl yet .. the scales have shifted DOWN BABY... Ladies Start Your Engines ... cos the weight loss Grand Prix has recommenced!

Have a great day!

Pink Virgo, If you weren't to have ANY of that sweeteneer stuff, do you think it would make any difference to your weight loss? I just thought if I had any of that or even diet soft drink it may slow down my weight loss :( I have only been having water since being on the program.

Well I feel like the biggest idiot. I was reading over my plan last night and realised that I can mix my meals around. For some stupid reason I thought it meant that they HAD to stay in that order. Does the fact that I haven't been mixing them up have any affect on this program?

Hi everyone.
Lisa- thanks for that. I have actually (again) gone back on the program this morning, and I am really determined (again) to do it this time. I have been reading Dr Phils book which deals with the "head" issues, and am feeling motivated and determined again. Still going to Curves, but not sure if it is actually doing that much. I feel sorer, and like I have done a better workout when I do my weight watchers video than I do after a session at curves. I am thinking about cancelling and joining a small local gym instead. I also got a call from my clinic this morning and they are going to contact me once a week again to see how I'm going. Great to hear that you are still doing so well. Whatever you do, if you ever need to go back on the program, make sure you do it for at least 2 weeks and complete the re-feed again. I have totally upset the delicate balance I had created by starting and stopping after a week without doing re-feed.
Chrystelle- I eat Paradise Lights (the wholemeal ones are nicer than the white ones), and you can have 5 of these per day. I think vita wheats are fine to eat 5 a day, but I don't think you can have 5 ryvitas. Double check your program. I always ate everything they said to as you can put your body into starvation mode if you eat too little, and this might slow down the weight loss.
Pink Virgo- very interesting about the Hermasetas. I have a packet that I bought a while ago, so I'm hoping they are ok. Does anyone know which other sweeteners are recommened?
Cryss- Great to see that you are feeling better, and have got those scales moving in the right direction again. Hopefully I will be soon joining you with my scales going down again instead of up!
Kim_j01- I don't think sweeteners, diet soft drinks or not mixing up your meals would make any difference, so you may as well have them.
Talk to you soon. Have a great day everyone.
Beck

Hi Ladies :

Just a quick post before heading to work (which may i add i so do not want to go to, am hoping to quit soon enough). RJM goodluck with getting back on the program am sure you will do just fine. I used to be a CURVES member and agree with you about the whole "if it is actually doing that much" as i would leave there barely out of breath. Like you wit your weight watchers workout i am into my Tae-Bo dvd which i believe does more for me. But in saying all that different things work for different people.

PINKVIRGO how much in total have you lost in 6 weeks?

Ciao my bellas have a lovely day.

Hi,

I am new to this forum, but have been doing the program since August 2005.

I have already lost 45Kg but still have another 30-35 to go. Recently I have been getting really tired behind the eyes, light headed and whoosey at times and l have periods of low energy.

I have increased my salt and started taking chrominium with my vitamins. Has anyone else experienced this or can you offer any other solutions.

I am so glad that I have found people who are doing the same thing and if my experiences can help any of you then I am only too happy to share.

Here's to getting to know you.

Jude

Hey guys, can someone please give me a bit more information on the tea everyone is having. What does it do? Where I can buy it?... etc

Hey Kim its Dieters slim tea regular strength its the nutrileaf brand available at healthfood stores for about $11 or $12 its to eliminate any toxins and help if you have constipation, Joysey put us on to it and it works a treat, but I can say until you get used to it be careful cos it can be a pain in the bum he he, you may get a bit of cramping and have to run to the loo real fast and you know the saying "shower of shit" well thats all i can say. But it settles down and ive had about 3 or 4 boxes now and cant live without it. But one cup before bed is all you need, alot of us brew it in a mug covered by a saucer until luke warm squeeze the teabag and skull, its not too bad but can make you feel a bit thirsty I think anyway. If Cryss or Mel or Moni or Myshy can add anything jump in. Its really to help if you are experiencing any constipation but if you are not then I guess you are ok. what are you having in a typical day for your meals? I think Cryss advice on switching meal options and drinking plenty of water is the best advice. And Welcome back soon to be in the 90's Club Cryss, so uplifting to see you post again. Hope that helps Kim, is everyone watching the Biggest Loser am lovin it. See ya xx PS Welcome Jude great to have you on board Great stuff on losing all that weight, keep going strong!!!
