Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Thanks Melly P.

Unfortunately, I tried finding the vitamin you recommended and I didnt see it here in the United States. I tried taking my regular vitamin which is Viactiv chewable, it tastes like chocolate, but I'm thinking that it will slow my weight loss. I know I've seen it somewhere here on the boards about what the vitamin should and shouldn't have as far as preservatives and added junk. Anyways, I'll keep looking. Thanks.

soon2b145, Yep I realised you were from the US after I read the other thread!! sorry! Maybe just go out and find one that has no added sugar, gluten, preservatives and addatives, and get Omega 3 fish oil seperate. That will do the trick. I'm a bit concerned about the chocolate tasting ones they sound all wrong and could jepordise you losses.
I also take zinc tablets for my skin and it hasn't looked clearer or better ever!!
Good luck with it! :D

Melly P,

Thanks for your reply. My dizzy spell was a big one and my work colleagues said I went white in the face, and I felt ill. Not worried about the devaition so much more worried about my body and how dizzy I became, quite close to passing out.Im worried about continuing on the plan. i have three kilos to go but not sure if I want to keep going.

tuz, have you been getting hungry??? Are you going for the top end or lower end goal weight?? It may be your body telling you (if your hungry) that it is time to order refeed. My goal is between 57kgs and 60kgs so I have a similar weight left to you and I am starting to feel a little hungry... not overpoweringly hungry just feeling like my meals arn't quite filling me up like they did before. I am going to stick with it until I am ravenous then order refeed.
Please try and stick it out for the last few kgs if your not getting the hunger yet as they warn the weight may come back on if you don't get to your own body's goal weight.
Take it easy and don't push yourself too much, keep cut up fruit and crackers handy.
I hope your ok.

Multi-Vits

Soon2B145 the consultants in singapore recommend USANA. It comes in a set of two bottles - chelated minerals and antioxidants. Do you have that over in the States? It's troublesome in that you have to take it thrice a day but it's supposed to be very good.

Melly P,
My Cohens weight range is 54-57. I am 59.5 kg at the moment. Im not terribly hungry normally, except for today, but I think that is because of dinner last night. I have had some fruit and crackers since the dizzy spell so I hope things sort themselves out. I'm feeling slightly better. Not going for refeed yet as I would like to reach 57.How tall are you?

Hi tuz, a few weeks back I started a thread about feeling light headed and drained and everyone suggested I take an extra multi-vitamin and it's worked a treat.

Also for the last week and a half i've been feeling ravenous and when mentioned this to my consultant she ordered my refeed program and says the hunger means my body is reaching its natural weight.

Our goal weights are the same.

Hope this info helps somewhat

Irene

Hi isparkle,
I take Multivitamins every day, have done throughout this program, havent had any problems at all except the excellent weight loss! So this is why I am concerned. Maybe I just had a sugar overload last night and my body reacted badly to it. Its been quiet a while since I have splurged and eaten chocolate. I still want to lose a couple more kilos, but kind of wary about it. I havent been revenous though, if anything my hunger has stabilised.

Tuz: hi I get dizzy spells quite often while I am at work because i walk alot at work and bend up and down, my consultant said to take extra multi vitamin and maybe have some cooldrink, usually i just go and have a tea break and i am much better after that unless my workload is full on, i wouldnt think that it is a major thing probly just one of those things, keep going with your weight loss and if it keeps happening i would call your consultant. Keep up the great work (bar the choccies haha) you are nearly there!!!

melly p: the natures own multivitamin that your consultant said to take is that free of gluten and preservatives etc like they say in the plan!! I was told to take Blackmores multiv, just curious about the natures own one coz i dont eat a lot of fish actually rarelt do I eat fish haha i do have prawns though every now and then so I was thining maybe natures own with omega 3 might be better for me!!:D

Char,
I take the Natures Own multivitamin with Omega 3. It is Gluten and preservative free. O.K I will keep going with the plan, just got worried that it had something to do with my blood sugar level and the last thing I need is to be concerned about the risk of Diabetes. Im so close to being my goal weight and dont really want to stop yet if the dizzy spell is not a serious concern.

Tuz Thank you for that I might check it out in the shops It would be good to get some omega 3 into me!! Glad u staying with but if it does persist i would tell your consultant or get your blood pressure checked at the chemist or your doc WOW wish I only had 3 kilos to go but I will keep at it till I am there!!

vitamins

Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on vitamins. I am looking for a multi-vitamin to take while on Cohens. Hoping it will give me back some of my energy.

Thanks.
:p

I use the Walmart brand - Equate... the "Weight Conscience" vitamins has the right amount of everything. It use to be called "Weight Smart"...It has the right amount of all vitamins...because it has green tea... etc... it has the "weight" in the name fo the vitamin. I then take an oil supplement. I haven't been able to find a vitamin with fish oil ...but then again I haven't checked out a GNC or vitamin store... I like the discounted Walmart price.

Are you a participant on our US site?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone experienced what I did today. Well I deviated last night- Valentines Day, had choccies - I know I shouldnt have, but anyway this morning I had the biggest dizzy spell and felt like being sick. I am quite concerned about it- the dizzy part I mean. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Hi Tuz,

Sory to hear of your dizzy spell. Being dizzy is an awful feeling. I'm not a doctor or consultant or anything, but I would suggest the chocolates were the cause of your dizziness.

My reason being - the chocolate would have caused a spike in your blood sugar levels (because you are not used to the sugar etc in your system). What goes up must come down. Because of how strict Cohen's is in what you put into your body, any peak in blood sugar levels will be followed by a trough - ie low blood sugar. This would then make you feel dizzy.

This is why it is so important not to deviate with a little chocolate etc. Sure that chocolate might not cause you to gain weight, but because everything in your body is so used to the strict quantities of Cohen's, it can't cope too well with the extra energy a piece of chocolate gives it.

Anyway, that is just my theory and it could be utter garbage! If you find the symptoms persist then definitely see a doctor & consult with your clinic.

Other than that, keep up the good work and good things will happen for you!
Cheers,
Linda

Yummy Mummy,

Thanks for the theory and it does kind of make sense. I am feeling better now after fruit crackers and now having had lunch. Thats sure will teach me to deviate even a little. Oh well you live and you learn! By the way it wasnt just 'a' piece of chocolate more like 'many' pieces of chocolate. Ooops! But I sure did enjoy it!

dizzy spells

Hi Tuz :)

I don't want to be over dramatic but when i read your post I actually thought you may be pregnant.
When I was pregnant with my first I was a vegetarian and would get dizzy spells often and faint at work.
After a blood test my doctor said the baby was absorbing the iron from me so I then icreased my iron tablets and no difference and eventually I had to start eating meat again especailly RED.
So you may have an iron defiency or maybe the overdose in choccie yesterday has caused this reaction to spike your insulin levels significantly.

I would also check with your consultant and try not to deviate again - your body probably went into shock but just in case monitor yoursel to see if there is any more dizzy spells and if their is go see your GP.

Take care
Sam:)

Melly P,
My Cohens weight range is 54-57.

I am at refeed stage (well actually refeed was at 90KG but since I was still overweight I decided another 10KG will suit my body, I am at 82KG now), I must admit that I have started to feel light headed more frequently now than since the start of the program. I am thinking that this is because I simply have less fat available and what fat is still around is the fat that takes the most to shift, the fat that doesnt want to go!. By saying "most to shift" I think it means "the lowest levels of blood sugars and insulin", we may need extra low blood sugar to shift the last few KG or lbs, if it gets too low our brain starts getting upset and starting going on strike.

Anyway I have found that deviations right now do seem to have impact.

I agree with 2B Yummy Mummy , the chocs raised your blood sugars, and in the morning you body consumed all those sugars and then quite quickly it just ran out! When it ran out your blood sugar dropped unusually low point and your brain simply started to malfunction => dizzy and faintness. Unlike all other tissues in our bodies our nerves/brains can only run on sugar not fat (for those who care actually its not actually fat but ketone bodies made from fat in your liver). Of course now your body has called for the reserves (fat), but there was a gap between running out of sugar and the reserves being "mobilized".... So I think the fruit and crackers was the best thing you could have done!

Yes time to just keep on going with the Cohen plan and avoid deviations, keep your blood sugar from going up or down too much and keep those fat reserves being mobilized!

I also had a chocolate last night :D

tuz, sorry I missed your question.... I'm 164cm.

Lessfatty, awesome effort!!! you must be sooo wrapped to be finishing!!!
what about some before and after shots???:D :D

Thanks for all the feedback from everyone, it is very useful and I will keep going, Ahhh only 2-3 kilos left, I am so happy with Cohens plan and how well it works. I have dropped two dress sizes and really enjoying being able to buy just about any clothes that I like now. Maybe I have to look at my Iron intake a little closer also and increase it.

Melly,
You are taller than me. I'm 159 hence my range being 54-57kg. I wanted to know if anyone knew the difference in what we eat at the moment to a typical day on refeed? I had posted this question previously but didnt get a response

Hi Tuz,

Here is a link to a page of Zelda Sheldon's journal.
She has a whole website about how she lost weight on Cohen's. She has detailed her refeed stage also. About 1/2 way down this page you'll find some pink links to different parts of her refeed (eg Day 1-7) and so on. Hope it helps clear things up for you.

Cheers,
Linda
