Hi guys

Question: Does anyone have ideas on a training day I have to attend on Thursday? They normally provide food which will be unsuitable, slices or scones for morning tea, sandwiches for lunch and usually something else sweet in the afternoon. Has someone else on this forum been to a full day event and how did you cope - what did you eat???? I could always ask my Cohen's counsellor but just thought I'd check here?

Thanks again and great going everyone on such a friendly forum, it's making the weight loss a group effort (well, that's how I feel!!)

take care and have a wonderful week
Mags

Hi Mags,
I do regular events with work. I always ring beforehand and request and special meal for medical reasons. People do it all the time to make sure they get vegetarian or gluten free meals. So, its fairly easy to get organised. I always ask for fruit for morning tea and afternoon tea (specify the fruit you want, otherwise you will get watermelon and grapes!). Take some crackers as well. Then for lunch ask for a salad with chicken/fetta/ tuna (whatever you fancy), and balsamic vinegar. You should be able to get something that is fairly close to what you need.

Hi Everyone

It's great to see the amazing progress on board!!

Tanya what terrific photos:jump:

I have been flat out this week with both work and home then two severe headaches (partly low blood-sugars and partly the cold).
Can't wait to finish. But loving the results!!

Nonna

Tania and Nonna well done, having both of you here and posting is so inspirational. :jump:

The other day I had a midday appointment. I ate half my lunch in the car to the appt and then the other half 2 hours later!! The other day at my clinic appt I asked what should I have done.

The clinic checked with Dr Cohen (?) and came back and said that I should have left the 2nd half of lunch.

Just thought I'd post this just in case others come into the same situation.
next time I'll eat faster at those traffic lights ;)

Also where is everyone finding their soup receipes? And do you find them as filling?

Stef

Stef- My soups are different every time as I invent them. I always have meal 2 chicken portions weighed out in the freezer so can make a quick soup, stir-fry or I can cook it in ginger, garlic flakes, salt & pepper & eat cold with a salad. (That is great to take to work also)
A quick & simple soup is chicken portion, some asparagus juice from the can, ground coriander, ginger, cumin, lemon grass (any or all of these but not more than we are meant to) & vegie allowance. I use a little fresh garlic, onion(any), celery, asparagus, zucchini & a little cabbage or bok choy, salt & pepper, added water, dash of balsamic. I just toss it together & cook gently for about 30-45 minutes, covered. You can blend it if you'd prefer or eat as is. Adjust your spices to personal preference. I often add chillie flakes. I find soup surprisingly filling. I almost always eat 1/3 of my cracker allowance about an hour before lunch; 1/3 1hr before evening meal & 1/3 somewhere between 8.30pm & 9pm. This seems to help me to avoid hunger. I also spread out my fruit during the day & often eat the fruit & crackers together.
One day last week I made 8 soups & cooked them all individually but varied the vegie & spice mix. I actually never get sick of chicken soup. It's a great winter "comfort food!" Cheers, Cate.....singing today as I'm 74.5!!

Dear Steff,

Thanks for the visual of you (and all of us) stuffing ourselves at the lights:rotflmao:

Nonna

PS Cate I wish you were cooking my Cohen meals at my house YUMM!!

Hi Fellow Cohenites,

Cate and Lori..thanks for answering my question, makes it easier to roast lots of vegies at once and then divide.
Cate..74.5 how awesome.yay to you:jump:
Lori..Hope you enjoyed Fathers Day w/end, bet you looked great in those jeans..hmmm maybe a pic soon?
Tania..speaking of pics WOW! look at you, looking great at the halfway mark, looking forward to reading more of your posts..trully inspirational.
Stef.. Check out website for soup recipes, also nice creme of cauliflower and cumin soup listed in June's newsletter.

Mags..Stick to this and you will see similar cm's dropping off, I find that I have lost more in cm's than kg's (22 kilos and 95cm's) In regards to your training day, I was in a similar situation not so long ago and I managed by eating brekky at home, then for morning tea I had my apple, lunch was sandwiches so I just ate the fillings (chicken, lettuce, egg, beef, tomato etc) I didnt eat the bread, just made a comment that I was taking a break from bread at the moment, afternoon tea, I had my crackers and fruit, drank lots of water and herbal tea in between. The day made no difference to my weight loss at all. Days like this will occur, just make sensible Cohen's food chioces, 1 day of not measuring is not going to make a very big difference.
Nonna..good to see you, you are doing great, soooo nearly there..good on ya!
Enjoy your week all and until next time...

Folks, How come this thread has moved from the top for the first time in months? Strange....

Hi Cate,
Because both these threads (the one Mr M keeps posting in and this one) have been active lately, the one on top of the list is usually the last one someone posted in.

Hi everyone i had my 16 week weigh in today 18kg lost and 84cm in measurment. Did not have a big month on the scales only lost 2kg probably because of the couple of deviations i had slowed things down but i am focused again now. Went and brought some new clothes today because i have a conference for work in sydney start of july and had nothing to wear.

wow this is really a major achievement and you should be very proud of yourself! i noticed we have the same goal weight and that motivates me even more! keep it up! :)

Ezzy- Now you are past that 1/2 way mark the program will become easier. Well done! You have lost heaps in cm which is way more important. Please describe your new clothes to us. Do you feel good in them? You should be very proud of yourself.
Welcome Tuberose to the forum. You will find a caring, positive & supportive group here who will try to answer any of your questions & help you on your journey.
Everyone is doing so well. If we can stick to the program we will get to be those slim, healthy people we want to be, xo Cate.

Ezzy, you are doing awesome. Give yourself credit for a job well done. Enjoy the look of your new clothes and knock'em dead at the conference.

Tuberose, welcome to the forum!

Annie, I am thinking of posting a before and after picture when I am at goal. We see.

Cate & Lam, thanks for the warm welcome :hug2:

just gone to the clinic for the presentation last night and decided to sign up. hope this will be the very last attempt using so much money for weight loss... i've done all kinds of diet - atkins, low carb, food combining, fruit & brown rice detox, slimming centre, now, doing a low GI diet.... all seems so slow....

will be going for my blood test soon and hope to get started asap! :jump: my first real test is having to attend a wedding dinner in early jul - having 10 dishes served to your plates, gosh.... how am i going to survive that!

Going to pick up my program tomorrow (hopefully), I was supposed to pick it up today but my consultant fell ill, hoping she feels better tomorrow. I don't know whether I should start on Friday or after my birthday on wednesday.... I know I'll start on Friday though, the sooner I start the sooner I'll lose the weight. I need to be 68kgs again, I know for my height and shoe size I should be 70 but I know I feel better @ 68.
Anyways, welcome tuberose :) Good luck.

HUGS

Tuberose,
You will be fine at the wedding. I went to one not long after I started, I brought my crackers, ate a small amount of the chicken (after I scraped off their gravy), and asparagus and brought an orange for desert. I had water and black tea at the end of the night. Oh, I also ate a bit of salad. The funny thing was... I had everything stuffed in my purse which tipped over during the wedding and spilled onto the floor (fortunately we were in the back), a co-workers wife picked up the stuff that rolled under her chair and handed it to me saying "I'm pretty sure they're going to feed us" with a smile on her face. I laughed and told I was on a diet. I ran into her today and she couldn't stop looking at me, I know she could tell I lost weight and she looked like she wanted to say something but she didn't. Anyway, you'll be fine.
Clawdia, Good Luck starting the diet, on whichever day you decide to start.

Hi all

I started Dr Cohen's diet last year June and to date have lost 23kg! Although my progress has been good I have recently moved in with my boyfriend and things have since fallen apart. I cannot keep to my routine at dinner time!

This has become most frustrating as I want to eat what ever it is I make him for dinner. I cant make him eat 'diet food' and I feel too guilty making him cook his own dinner...silly I know!

Does anyone have any useful tips on beating the 'munchies' at dinner time!
(Im pretty good at sticking to it for breakfast and lunch) Also any advice for sticking to the diet over weekends would be good too!

I need to loose 13kg more before I start the re-feeding...i feel like im so close yet so far!!!

HELP!

Thanks tuberose for ur encouraging words it does feel great to be half way and u will b there in no time stick to it the program does work.

Hi Cate yes i am past the half way mark and looking forward to the end. My clothes are 2 pair of suit pants black and grey and some nice knitted jumpers and shirts. I also brought a pair of jeans with the small zipper i could not normally wear these could not get them up past my thights. My consultant could not belevie how much i lost of my thighs.

Thanks Lam for ur encouragement i will look good at the conference now that was one of my aims to be able to buy nice pants and look good i feel good.:)

Twix,
This diet does work, but you have to stick with the program for the best results. There is no reason you can't fix your boyfriend the same foods, just increase his portions a bit. This is not 'diet food' it is healthy food and not only will it help us lose weight but live healthier lives. If your boyfriend doesn't want what your having, have him fix his own meals. There is nothing wrong with that, and it takes the temptation away from you. Look at it this way, if you stick to this program 100% you will be finished with it and re-feed before you know it. Whenever you feel like snacking grab a big glass of water and go find something to do. Good Luck.

My wife and I cook our own foods. It also helps that she is a vegetarian though.

Let him fend for himself for awhile Twix, he'll come around. Unless you try to feed him the same amounts lol.

Twix, best thing to keep your mind occupied when you feel hungry is to play a role playing game on the PC (ie. Titan Quest, Sacred etc) I've just started the program today but I know the game keeps me and hubby occupied for a couple of hours after the chores are done and the kids have gone to bed, you don't even realise that an hour or more has gone by, even if you don't like those kinds of games, it sure helps pass the time. BTW stick with the program 100%, the more you stick with it, the sooner you'll be finished. HTH.
HUGS :)
