Cohen's Lifestyle Cohens Lifestyle Support - New

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Whos been on this program the longest?

Hi Tony, I am on this for coming to 5 months, it will be ending for me soon :)

Not too sure with the other but I understand from my consultant that the diet dramatically reduce the amount of blood sugar in the body to the minimal needed, and hence no exercise is recommended. Which is kind of nice :) especially when you see the scale dropping without working out. But the consultant did recommended that I do light brisk walks around my neighbourhood daily (of course i did not). So i reckon exercise is not a no no in the program but the intensity plays a part.

Anyway I got through it without any form of exercise except when i have to deviate from the program during a prolong business trip, i did daily swim then, as my food intake during that time is not in accordance to my diet plan. It was a personal decision and i was trying to counteract the effect of the unbalance diet with some form of controlled exercise. This is not recommended but i just went ahead and do it. Well if you are interested to know, I only gain 200g for a two full week program deviation (and i had to eat big time due to the business lunches and dinners) with moderate (personal estimate) swimming exercise.

Stop feeding the troll (tony) peoples!

I would laugh if I found what's happening in here even faintly amusing.
This thread is called "Cohen's Lifestyle Support" which means just that. If anyone seems genuinely interested in how the program works, usually they will receive informative, honest & friendly responses.Negativity, sarcasm & aggression don't usually play a part in what is usually a
very supportive, kind & encouraging,Cohen's thread of the general weight-loss forum.
I hope it's back to "normal" very soon. Cate

I understand and thank you for being rational. However everyone else has their large tickers, a signature is a signature. I didnt ask anyone to check out my website or anything like that at all. I didnt even try to argue against Cohens.

Since Cohens doesnt advocate exercise, and everyone is so dedicated to it here, it wouldnt even make sense for me to try and crack that wall.

I just noticed that most of the posts are from people who just started the program and few are of people 3-4 months later. So I will rephrase: Has anyone been consistently on this diet for say, 3-6 months?

i unbolded the lettering so maybe that will help

Hi Tony,
I started the program at the end of July last year, so I'm coming up to 11 months. I had 2 lots of 1 month off the program for family reasons and travel. But during each of those times, I only put on about 1 -1 1/2 kg, and that was off within a week of starting the program again. I travel quite a lot and have regular business dinners etc. So, its more challenging for me to stick 100% to the plan than most people. But I feel that I have actually learned what to eat to avoid putting the weight back on. and if I do eat too much, i know how to quickly get the weight off again. While I'm following the plan properly, I don't feel hungry.
My BP has gone from 130/95 to 120/78 and my cholesterol levels are now around 3.5, which I understand is very good. I've gone from a size 22 to a size 10/12. and my shape has completely changed.. from being very pear shaped to looking much more in proportion. I have proportionally lost more from my hips and waist than from my bust. Whereas previous diets I've done, I've been the other way around.
I know of several others who have also been on the plan for around a year. Asy, who doesn't frequent this forum so much anymore, has lost 80kg in less than 12 months and been much more consistent than I have. CHelsea, who again used to be on this forum lost about 25kg I think over about 5 months, and has kept it off for a year. Lessfatty lost 46kg over a bit over 6 months, I think.
It is certainly possible to be on the plan for an extended period of time. When its time to finish, we begin to feel an insatiable hunger. I have just begun to experience that, so the end is in sight!

im baaaaaaaaaaack

Hello everybody

I havent been on here for agesssssssss....we moved house and didnt have the internet for awhile and now I have been off work for 3 weeks sick and just havent been in the land of the living, so its good to be back....since ive been sick the program has kind of slipped....ive had a lot going on with alleergies and possibly (find out test results tommorrow) thyroid problems so its all a bit blah at the moment.

oh well im gonna stay outta that issue.....

my bro in law is foing his deb on sept 1st so my goal is to be slim and wear qa beautiful dress to show off my new figure, so thats going to be exciting!

what else is news peoples?

Ok your accusations are ridiculous. Did I say anything about myself or my site? No. In my first post I merely asked whos been doing this plan for a long time. How does that mean that my motives are to solicit anyone? If I was soliciting clients, I think my post would have been much different.

Maybe you need to break the barrier that everyone is out to bash your diet plan and think that people are interested in why you participate in it and how it works. I wasnt interested in your plan in this thread, I made a separate post for that. Maybe you should read around because you would have known that.

Hello All,

Tony... the training link is enough to make anyone wary of your motives. We are a support group for this diet, we are told NOT to exercise until we we have completed the diet. If you are on a fact finding mission about the diet feel free to read our posts. If your intentions are to become informed about Cohen's you may ask diet specific questions, please do not try to solicit clients as it is not allowed on this forum.

Tony,
I, in no way accused you of anything, I simply asked you to ask diet specific questions (which you did), I then asked you to please not try to solicit clients because I knew it would turn ugly. I never meant to imply that that you were soliciting clients. This is a support group if we spend our time arguing we end up off topic and I was just trying to keep that from happening. I am a keep the peace type of person, and want the newbies and veterans to feel comfortable coming into this forum. I hope this clarifies everything and doesn't make it worse.

I still dont see how you justify attacking me. I did no diet bashing or anything negative. Actually its quite the reverse. The people who have been on the plan for longer periods of time can talk of their progress and it might actually motivate the newer individuals. Maybe you should come out of your negative mentality to everyone who isnt a "regular" in this thread. Thats strike 2.

Negativity, sarcasm & aggression don't usually play a part in what is usually a

The only negativity is the people attacking me.

Understood Lam. The wording and internet made it seem that way. Noone wants to answer diet questions in this thread however. My next question would be: Where do you go once the diet/plan is over?

Congrats on your progress Heavenlylamb and Sunny.

How funny to see so many people back in this forum now (including me) entertaining this jerk who is not on Cohens and sure as hell is not interested in joining Cohens. People I have hardly seen post in here are now posting answering his questions. You really think he is intersted in YOU?
It's time to go Tony.
Bye bye

Maybe you should just stop trying to get me out of here. Just because Im not interested in joining doesnt mean Im not interested in the idea itself. Whether I agree with it or not, anyone who does partake in it I wish the best of luck.

I dont see how that makes me a jerk. People you've hardly seen? You only have 9 posts, which the last 4 have been directed towards me. It seems I am offering more support than you.

I am done arguing with you as well. I asked a simple question and I appreciate those who have answered it so far.

Tony, in regard to the number of posts, it's about quality not quantity of posts.

Personally, I think you are trying to incite something by constantly quoting others and filling our pages with this.

If you have questions ask them, without all the other guff. Perhaps be more succint and list your questions in one post. Everyone here is happy to help. However, you are also free and encouraged to go off and search the forums, and read through old posts to gather information you require. There is also thread from several people who have completed the program.

Obviously in any program, people who are new will post more while those on the program longer are comfortable don't need to post. But they are here, reading and contributing when needed.

I am only quoting to defend myself. I do not wish to argue or bicker at all. But I am going to rebuttal against misinformation. I think others are trying to incite something because I am not a Cohens diet plan member. I did ask my question, but not everyone is happy to answer them obviously.

Also in regards to posts, I was deemed a troll. Obviously I am not because I have been here contributing for months. Trolls login and post bs until they are banned. I agree its quality, but if you have no quantity then there is no room to speak like this.

-To Cohen's People-

1) Having read over the start of this it is very clear that Tony in no way said anything negative or rude to any of the posters. Now you can make assumptions of his intentions that is fine, but he really did ask a very direct question.

2) This forum is not yours. This section is not yours. It doesn't HAVE to be here. It is merely a section of the board and it has rules that you must follow. Clear as day one of those rules is to not insult other members. There has been direct insults that occurred here some you can see, some you can not. That will not be tolerated by any members period.

3)Anyone has the right to come into any thread in a respectful manner and ask a question. If you don't want to answer it, don't answer it. There were people that had no problem answering Tony's question and they did so in a very informative manner.

4)Like it or not some of us are professionals in the health and fitness industry. We are curious of different methods of diet. We get curious about personalties traits and habits, history of posters, etc. If you wish to take it as an insult then perhaps you need to look at why you are so defensive.

5)This is my last statement in this thread. However, if anyone insults another member they will be given infractions and yes, possibly banned for degrading behavior towards another member. Healthy debate is fine, insults are not.

Thank You.

Well..........
It's a miserable day here in my little part of the world (drizzly rain, cold...) but I am sticking to Cohen's & physically feeling great. Without the,( might I say the word?) love & support that I have found in this section of the weight-loss forum I don't know if I would have got this far. Thank you forum buddies. :hug2:
We are a positive, friendly, supportive group of individuals, from all over the world. Let's be strong & continue to help one another. Any genuine, interested questions answered civilly. All newbies welcome. All those who read but do not post welcome to come join in or just to continue reading.
It upsets me to have some people thinking that we are nasty or negative when I know we are not. Stay positive folks, Cate.

Hi all,
Wow!! last time I posted was 3 pages ago..doh, lots been happening in here and once again it all started with a male..haha.

Hope everyone is doing good.
Mags: Good to see the headaches are gone. Is it getting easier as you go?
Lukey: Your first week weight loss is fantastic, great program isn't it?
Lam: Was checking out your ticker and I can't believe you only have 8.2 pounds to go. To answer your Fathers Day question lots and lots of posts ago, in Australia we celebrate Fathers Day in September, are you doing anything special to celebrate?
Cate: Totally agree with your last post, and thank you and others for the support and inspiration you have given me.
Pink Sultana: Good to see you back. You can do it and no doubt will look great!
Clawdia: Welcome and good luck, feel free to ask any questions when you get started, it's a great forum and we are all very supportive.

I have a question and would like your opinions please. Today I chopped up very finely, zuchini, garlic, capsicum, tomato, basil, mushroom and roasted in oven with balsamic vinegar and Italian herbs. It was yummy had it with ricotta on crackers. Now my questions is, do you think I could cut up 3 lots of allowance vegies ie 300 grams (3 meals) and when cooked, weigh, divide by 3 and have as three seperate meals? Hope I have made sense..hehe

Until next time...
Annie Lusion

Annie I think you could & it would be ok. To me it's only when the protein has been added that we might mess up the combo. (Like my chicken soup that I weigh out & cook separately.) If I weighed out 6 lots of any combo of the allowed vegies & made a big soup, then divided it by 6, then added the chicken to each 1/6th portion that too should be ok. I have missed you & sent you a mental message today. Glad you got it. Have a dirty w/e away in Sydney & look what happens! xo Cate

Hi Annie,
Nice to have you back. I also think dividing up in equal portions, once cooked, would be fine.
Tomorrow (Sunday) is Father's Day in the USA, we will be grilling steak and veggies (Cohen's friendly of course) hanging out as a family and just relaxing.
My daughter put a collage of pictures together of her and her dad, and she can't wait to give it to him when he wakes up. The weather is supposed to be sunny and warm, so maybe we can all play games together outside.
As far as my weight I think I will shoot for about 10 lbs more. Cohen has my weight at 124-130 lbs, I told them that 133-135 lbs is my preference. A few years ago, before I got sick, I weighed 133 lbs and was a size 4. If I went down to their goal weight I would be to thin, I want to set a good example for my daughter, not be skeletal. I am, as of this morning, 142.8 lbs. and I am looking pretty cute in my jeans :). just kidding, sort of. I really love this group and couldn't imagine doing this without the support. Thanks Guys!!!!

Hi Everyone,

Yes I've been around a while and just hung back and read all the great stuff that everyone writes. Well I've finally hit the half way mark and I feel wonderful!!! Just reading the last four posts makes me get a tear in my eye as I have decided that I am going to do this and nothing is going to stop me.

It's weird how people now are telling me not to get too skinny!!! I can't believe that... My whole life is changing in ways I didn't know was possible. It's almost like now I am feeling 'normal' and when I look back I see in how much denial I was thinking I looked great when in fact I looked obese. I tell people now I'm fat not obese and am looking forward to looking 'normal'. Not that I had a problem socialising before but it's so nice to receive comments from people saying that I am glowing and look so well.

This has got to be the best thing I have ever done for myself in my life. I'm still sorting the issue with my husband who thinks that when I reach my target weight some handsome prince is going to sweep me off my feet and take me away from him... Does anyone else have that problem with their partner? Aside from reassuring him constantly that I LOVE him I keep stressing to him that I am doing this for me and my health and no matter what I married him because I love him. He has never in the 18 years I have been with him, told me I need to lose weight, and has always told me he loves me no matter what. Can't he see it's the same way with me?? MEN!!!!!

Anyway, I know I haven't made many comments in the past as most of the time I go on this forum I need tissues to dry my eyes as this forum has inspired me to go on and reach my goal weight. But, as I complete the second half of my weight loss I will endeavour to write more and put my input into this great forum. Especially for newbies seeing that there is light at the end of the tunnel gives us the inspiration to go on. Good luck everybody and I'll keep in touch.

Folks, How come this thread has moved from the top for the first time in months? Strange....
Lori- It's ok to say you look good in your jeans. I bet you do. Good for you! I agree with you about not wanting to be thin, just slim. I once became much too thin & it is neither a healthy look nor is it a good example for your children, as you say. There are so many outside influences on all of us, including children to be either stick-thin if you a woman or muscle-bound for men! I like the idea of the healthy middle ground. Each to his own.
My Cohen's goal weight is actually what I was for my teens & my 20's. I didn't have to work to keep it at that. It just was my "natural" weight until I had children.
I too love our group & appreciate the loving, support that I have received since I first came in here for a look. Cheers fellow Cohenites, xo Cate
Added this-TaniaB You were typing at the same time as me.
Congratulations! That's for joining in but especially for getting to the half way mark. Well done. You should be very proud of yourself. We all help one another in here & are a loving, supportive group. I have been reduced to tears many times by the responses I have received. The "problem" with your husband I too encountered early on with mine. It doesn't matter how old any of us are. We all have our insecurities. Take time for him & let him know that he is the only one for you. Talk to him about it like I did. Reassure him. xoCate

Week one and 5 kgs down

Hi guys

thanks for the words of support - hey Lukey, we started within 2 days of each other - woo hoo, we can lose weight together. I did measurements today and i've dropped 8cm, I know this won't continue every week but how wonderful is that for positive reinforcement. Today I've spent the day making soup for lunch during the week - had Cate's tuna recipe during the week and meat/chicken and salad on the other days but I'm so cold I need to have some warm soup. Had some for lunch and I'm still full and warm.

Question: Does anyone have ideas on a training day I have to attend on Thursday? They normally provide food which will be unsuitable, slices or scones for morning tea, sandwiches for lunch and usually something else sweet in the afternoon. Has someone else on this forum been to a full day event and how did you cope - what did you eat???? I could always ask my Cohen's counsellor but just thought I'd check here?

Thanks again and great going everyone on such a friendly forum, it's making the weight loss a group effort (well, that's how I feel!!)

take care and have a wonderful week
Mags
