i know what you mean about not being sure if you'd use the machine if you bought it, in the past i've bought a stepper and a stationery bike (of which is now a clothes hanger lol!)....but that's just me. i think i'll buy a machine for myself in a couple of months when i feel i've gathered some more discipline. but if you feel you'll use it then go for it...if not then maybe hold off for a while untill your sure you'll use it regularly.

Over the years I have accumulated a fair heap of ironmongery:

NordicTrack (which I wish I used more than I do - awesome machine)
Stationary bike (which I do actually use fairly regularly, on non-walking days)
Total Gym (which I have dusted off and used twice in the last 6 weeks)

The bike almost went to the swap shed at the dump, but was saved when I started my journey.

I used to have a whole set of free weights, barbells, dumbbells, benches, and a custom-made universal/power rack set up. Sadly, I sold it back to the guy I bought it from just a few months ago. Of course, I didn't have it set up, either, as my basement ceilings are too low for it.
 
LOL! i don't know why it has to be that way....i know for sure if i bought something now i wouldn't use it....but i think if i keep going the way i'm at, when i'm closer to my goal weight i'll invest in a good machine either an elliptical or a treadmill.

okay, just got back from the gym. today was another good day, i started with warmup on the treadmill then went on the elliptical and said i had to make it to at least 20mins then managed to keep going and going upto 40mins! woohoo! i was tired as hell but felt on top of the world. i kept telling myself the longer i'm on it the less time i'll have to do on the treadmill. so thereafter did 10mins treadmill on incline then finished off with the 45min combat class. so today did:

-40mins elliptical,
-20mins treadmill
-45min combat class

That is awesome Cherry :D Well done.. considering you couldn't use it for long just a few days ago.. to be doing 40 mins now is brilliant!!!

thanks kori, i think doing the treadmill on incline all these weeks sort of prepared me for the elliptical, but of course i'm pacing myself and doing it slowly whereas all the other people whizz away on it like they're getting paid ...lol! i hope to get there someday, slowly but surely.

Thanks for stopping by my diary. I love peeps writing in my diary. Its almost like giving me bursts of good energy lol to use toward the pavement, but anyway thats a pretty hard routine...

great on the exercise! and your weight loss is amazing. I hope I get out of the 270s soon. I used to be 320...so I can understand being in the 300s. You can do it, you are doing it. Peeps like you are inspirational...

Alomst 30lbs!!! WooHoo! I didn't know you lived in Scotland, I'm so jealous. I love the accent. I know I was MIA for a week while I had a mini food breakdown. I'm back on it now though. I went to a job interview in London yesterday, none of my "good" clothes would fit and I cobbled together a vaguely smart outfit then caught sight of myself in a mirror and it took a few seconds to realise it was me... then I was sat on the tube practically squashing the poor man next to me. Oh dear!

yep, scotland where it rains all year round lol! aw, i'm so sorry to hear about the interview outfit! that's how all my clothes are right now, nothing fits anymore and i refuse to buy more stuff because i have so much stuff that's practically new but doesn't fit....hopefully sometime soon i can start fitting into those clothes but it's taking a while. oh dear, and sorry to hear about the tube too! this is why i've been scared sh*tless to take a plane in the last two years because i'm scared i'd be charged for two seats, and i hate trains too and buses! this is why i'm doing what i'm doing so that i can stop worrying and start LIVING! WE CAN DO THIS!
 
Haha me too,

Buses I tend to scuttle to the back and sit on the back seat - luckily I live towards the end of the journey so they are usually pretty empty - full buses I hate.

I went to Mallorca on holiday at the end of lat year and the dread of fitting into a plane seat scared me sooo much it really spoilt my holiday. I'm tall as well as round and I was terrified the belt wouldn't fit! In reality it wasn't that bad, I didn't even need the extended bit so I was quite pleased. I' scared of the budget planes though - My friends seem to be planning some trip on ryanair or easy jet but that isn't going to happen for the forseeable future. its a shame cos I keep seeing adverts for thiose 99p flights all over!

Right Cherry, I have a new target - when we get to our target weight we are going to book chepo flights to somewhere hot, only pack bikinis and sun ourselfs! Up for it? xx

was again happy with today's workout, i started with a warmup on the treadmill then went to the elliptical trying to do the 40mins that i did last time and then kept pushing on and reached the full 60mins on it! wow, i was so proud of myself, i just keep slow and steady and i'm able to keep going for a while, 4 people who also did the elliptical found me there and left me there....i felt like superwoman! it was a nice feeling. so today did:

-10mins treadmill
-60mins elliptical
-45min weights
