cherry garcia's diary

ooooooooooooh, if you shoot it take a video! i wanna see!

you should find the tallest building and just drop it. be like "haha, i win BITCH!"

oh destruction makes me happy.

lol! you'll be the first to watch the video i promise!

i'd pay good money to throw the damn thing off a tall building and shout obscenities at it right before it smashes to a milion pieces.

luckily we don't own a scale at the house. the one at ironworks is shifty. stupid ass scales. i wouldn't sweat it dear. go for like a week without weighing yourself. or like everytime you think about it, do something active (like punishing yourself) before you check it. like pushups or crunches or something.

its an idea!

go for like a week without weighing yourself.
this would be the real test. i think i'll start weighing every 2 days to begin with, if there's still no change then go a few more days.

i'm like the no.1 fan of the 'weigh yourself everyday club' it was great at the start when numbers were dropping but it pretty much sucks now. again i'll say tomorrow has to be different. surely i can't make the entire forum read my same whiny story everyday? i'm starting to sound like a broken record!

anyway, i'm still feeling kinda off so will have an early night....

yeah, i was watching something on mtv yesterday, i dunno if it was Made or whatev. this chick lost like 30 lbs in 4 weeks and her trainer was like, its gonna plateau, your body wont drop as fast and you have to be able to understand that and overcome it.

its just one of those things, im going thru it as well. ill be here telling you the same thing everyday if i have to!

anywho, get some rest if you are feeling icky.

Seriously, try the once a week thing... your anticipation builds up... You do everything right because you want to see a good result on that scale. Then when you get on it you have butterflies in your tummy, and seeing that big number drop is PRICELESS!!!!

You could even start telling yourself you do not care about the exact weight number, and that you are doing this for your health and well-being... taking measurements with measuring tape will also show inches lost if you haven't dropped weight that week...

let me begin by saying woohoo! :cheers2: after about 7 days at pretty much the same weight i've lost a pound! it feels so good to step on the scale and see something different!

i still however need to work on my scale issues and tell myself it's just a number. i shouldn't let the number rule me, next time i weigh in at similar weights again i'll start spacing out the number of days i weigh in so that i don't get discouraged.

The best advice I received about the scale was, "Don't go by the numbers, go by how your clothes are fitting." So when I feel a little bummed out that the scale hasn't moved or isn't moving fast enough, I put on a piece of clothing that used to be skin tight but now swims on me. It usually gives me that little extra pep that's needed.

Anyway, congrats on your loss! That's no small undertaking.

thanks ymcachick for checking in! i really need to listen to everyone and stop going by the numbers!

i'm with everyone else here. weighing yourself everyday is like staring at an analogue clock constantly for 8 hours. i think weighing yourself everyday makes you more obsessive and makes you forget to live life. i'm not saying you in particular, but in general. you obsess over it and you try to let the scale dictate how you live your life. no fun. once a week is good because you can reflect and see what you did wrong, or if you lose, you can see what you are doing right. weight fluctuates much too much to do it everyday, it'll drive you insane. i've went 2 weeks and only lost a pound. it happens to the best of us. but seriously, please try and do the once a week thing. its like taking off the training wheels lol. good luck and congrats on the pound lost!

thanks kureransu, your advice is much appreciated...i'd be lying if i said i haven't obsessed over the scale the past week...i'm working on getting myself there mentally so that i can stop weighing in daily.

hey blancita,
i'm currently on the way out (to the gym) but have had a really quick look at it and i think i can manage since i know for sure i'm eating clean and exercising. will read more on it when i get back, i just might probably join in. i like it because it's a short challenge (i'm also currently in the super mega challenge which is 22weeks long), so i think a 4 week one will be good too. k, will catch up later.
Hey cherry, do you feel like joining a 4 week challenge? Here's the link if you're interested:

Glad to see you are still going strong. Every pound is a win, as far as I am concerned.

But yeah, I try not to obsess over the number on the scale. It's great to see the numbers go down, but if they stop, or go back up, then it really bums you out. I think that it is especially hard if you weigh yourself every day. I only weigh in once per week (except last Monday, where I took the opportunity).

I'm excited by how the numbers are going down, yes, but I am much more excited at how much better and healthier I am already feeling. That's the real win.

Rock on, babe!

Yeah I have such a love/hate relationship with that damn scale. I weigh myself weekly on Wednesdays, but when I was first starting out (and with all previous diets I have tried), I became obsessed with the scale too. I'd weigh sometimes 10 times a day and when the number would go up, I'd get all depressed and use it as an excuse to binge eat. lol. I know that sounds crazy, but it's the truth.

Get there mentally, and like another poster said, eventually you'll find yourself excited for your weigh day.

thanks cord, dreamingblue and ymcachick for stopping by my diary. tomorrow will be the deciding factor as to how often i way myself.

today i decided i have to get my butt to the gym since i didn't manage to yesterday....plus it's my favorite day with 2 classes back to back, so i wouldn't miss it for the world!

so today did:
-45min aerobics class
-45min combat class
-weights

can't believe tomorrow is friday already! it'll be two sessions of the treadmill....BORING! will look for some nice music since i'm really bored with whats on my ipod, and the thing with me is that when the music is bad, the workout is bad...when the music is good, the workout is kicka$$!

Yeah, I agree Cherry, if you have good music, the time goes by much faster because you're having fun.

I'm thinking about taking an ipod to Curves with me. Sometimes I like the music they play, but sometimes its kinda questionable. Sometimes they play Christian music. I'm not really religious, so it's kinda awkward for me. The beat is okay though, but it's still weird.
