Hey Cherry, So sorry that you're feeling stressed from the numbers.

If you're doing everything right and the numbers are going up I'd say just chuck the scale for a while. Resist the urge to weigh yourself and just focus on health rather than the numbers. There can be so many things going on with your body. It's most likely water weight. If you do all those things, and you weigh yourself a week or two from now, you'll probably get a great surprise.

Good luck Cherry.

Hey girl! Dont be discouraged because of the scale, You may be adding muscle and gaining.. Plus, my wii fit tells me that in 1 day your weight is said to fluctuate about 2 lbs due to tiny changes taking place in your body:sifone:

Best of luck to you!

okay, i'd like to say that i'm doing great but i'm not. i'm adding weight, in the past 3 days i've put on 4pounds and i just want to cry. i've adjusted my calories upwards to eat what is required but my body is not responding positively. i'm going to give it 2-3 more days...i can take the scale giving the same reading but if it gives me a higher reading i'll be genuinely concerned. i guess i just feel like the hard work i've done the last couple of weeks is being torn to shreds. will keep you all updated and thanks for all the support xoxo

Hi Cherry, im totally in the same boat as you with upping my calories. I have gained so much in the past four days and i just feel like giving up. Mind you i have cheated on my eating the last 2 days also. It really is depressing seeing the scale go up. Come on. We can do this together. Just give it till the end of the week! Ive stopped posting on the weigh yourself everyday thread as its just too depressing at the moment. Chin up girl....

Hey Cherry,

Here's an article that might interest you. You might know everything already on it, but just a reminder for you.

Here is the excerpt from it:

"Exercise physiologists tell us that in order to store one pound of fat, you need to eat 3,500 calories more than your body is able to burn. In other words, to actually store the above dinner as 5 pounds of fat, it would have to contain a whopping 17,500 calories. This is not likely, in fact it’s not humanly possible. So when the scale goes up 3 or 4 pounds overnight, rest easy, it’s likely to be water, glycogen, and the weight of your dinner."

hey kakutzi, yeah will give it a few more days...today the scale showed a minus but i'm still curious to know if it means it will keep going down or if its just a temporary reading....and i agree with you, lets just hang in there, i'm sure our bodies should adjust soon, it's just so hard to take though!

hey girl, thanks for the article! like you say i know most of the stuff on there but still learned some new things so that helps, just reading it out helps the message stick in my head more, i guess the more i hear it, the less the scale will start to bother me, thanks again for all the encouragement hun xoxo

okay, so today the scale went down by a bit which was little encouraging. i've been rather low the past couple of days about it (having put on 4pounds almost overnight)...and i know i shouldn't let scale fluctuations get to me (and thanks for all the encouragement from all of you), it's just that when the scale starts going up you start to loose confidence in what your doing....i really need to work on not letting the numbers get to me.

i know that revising my calories upward was the right thing to do for my body so i need to stick with it

I'd be frustrated too, but I think in the long run you're going to be better off eating more. It's also a good incentive to exercise more. Plus you'll have more energy to do it.

thanks ymcachick! yeah, i know it'll be good for me in the long run since i'm going to be in this for so long...i just need for it to sink in mentally then i'll be ok....hopefully it will sink in sooner rather than later. xoxo

Thats great that the scale went down today! So did mine :) Stick with it girl, it is better for us in the long run....

okay, just got back from the gym, was in there for 3 freakin hours!...but tomorrow is a rest day so it's all good. i noticed i my knees were more sore today than usual and knew it was definitely because of the step-aerobics class that i did yesterday, i'll give it perhaps another two months before i try the step class again since it's too tough on my knees, it's a really great class but my health is more important. so today did:

-10min treadmill (warmup/cooldown)
-15min elliptical
-45min combat class
-60min elliptical
-30min weights

You are the gym queen! I love readuing about what workouts you have been doing! Your body must love you for it.

Step class is hard and yes it kills your knees. What do you do in the combat class?

lol! thanks girl! yeah, working out is the tough part but the feeling i get after is priceless!

the combat class is alot like taebo (you can youtube taebo to see clips of it), it's basically lots of different kinds of punching and kicking to the music...it's actually really fun and still a killer workout! usually when anyone asks what i'd recommend for a workout dvd i always say taebo coz it used to be my favorite from back in the day.

i'm glad it seems my weight loss appears to be normalizing once again and hopefully my body has fully adjusted to the upping of calories...time will tell.

You see! You didn't need to freak out at all! It is going down down down! Just 5 to go and you have your 20 kg anniversary! Amazing! Imagine that is your average 6 year old you were carrying around at all times... gone!

Have a great day, Camy

Hey Cherry,

I'm sooo glad to see the numbers going back down. With all the exercise you do and the healthy eating, how can it NOT go back down?

Congrats! :D

lol! thanks dreamingblue for always checking in on me especially during this rough week i've had...i'm so glad things are getting back to normal once again.

lol! i know, this has been a roller coaster week for the both of us, i'm so glad to see it's like things are finally going back to the way they should be...i'm glad we stuck to our guns.

have been a bit stressed the last two weeks and i think it's translating to my eating habits...there's a report i need to get done and hence haven't gone to the gym as much and i've noticed the less i go to the gym the more i want to eat...so ended up making yesterday an unscheduled treat day and ate more than i should have which hasn't happened in ages, roast chicken, garlic bread, crisps and some dessert. but i'm back on track today, i was glad the scale just stayed the same today (i was expecting an overnight increase as usual). the sooner i get the report done the sooner i can get back to focussing 100% on the weightloss.

hehehe, just before i left for the gym i bagged up the leftover crisps and cake and threw them in the bin....as soon as i did it i thought or maybe i should pick it back up since i'm going to workout anyway....lol! so i made a run for it so that i wouldn't. it's times like those when i remember why i have to keep the house completely junk food free because i still don't have enough discipline....so these days everytime i have a treat-day i buy just enough to last for a single meal because if there's any leftovers left i'd make an excuse to eat them.

old habits die hard, so every now and then i need to take a step back and let myself appreciate the hard work i've put in since i started this lifestyle change....i'm definitely a different person, a healthier, happier and much fitter person and i need to thank myself for getting so far which will help me to keep going on in this very long journey and also thank everyone on the forum for all the support, i'm so glad i found this site because i don't know what i'd have done without it xoxo
