Cate's Diary

All this and a frosty morning - what a great start to the day! I love those clear, bright winter days, when the air is sharp and clean - just right for being outdoors!
It was good, but pretty cold. I know it's good for me!
Wow Greece and Hawaii - you guys get around, huh. Happy trails!
Glad to be back home though Jack :)
Hope you´re enjoying the golf and the bright&sunny weather.
Another good day, thanks LaMa xo

I feel like I am back on track again & that is a good feeling. If I don't lose another kilo in the next week I'll start logging my food again, but for now, I'm happy not doing so.

Thanks, LaMa xo
It's a beautiful sunny Winter's day here today & I'm about to head out into it & help G get firewood.
I have been eating very well. Yesterday we had salad & cold meat for lunch, venison & lots of veg for dinner & fresh fruit. This morning we had a veggie omelette on one piece of oat toast. Lunch & dinner similar to yesterday maybe. I'll take soup out for tomorrow. The kids are coming tomorrow for the day & we'll have salmon fillets & salad for lunch & soup for dinner.
I had better get moving while it's so sunny!

I see Australia got snow, did you get any? We don't think of you getting any winter.

Summer is just getting started here.

I appreciate your post on my diary and your advice and encouragement. It helps.

That all sounds wonderful - like a luxury health retreat's menu!
I like your motto very much.
We do eat very well & probably spend more on good quality food to eat at home than we do on other things. Eating out is expensive & usually not as good as what we have at home. I like my motto too. I think most of us need reminding to be kind to ourselves.

It gets cold here, but rarely snows, thank goodness. 3-12oC is the average during Winter. I am used to being the opposite of most people in the forum re morning/afternoon and Summer/Winter, but I must confess that I really do not like Winter. Getting outside & getting sunshine, even when it's cold is very important for my mental health.
I'm happy to offer you encouragement & advice, based on my life experience. I feel that's something I can do. I am not qualified in nutrition or anything to do with exercise. This is a very supportive place & I am so glad to be a part of it.
Your diary is starting to make me rethink singlehood: I need someone to cook me all those delicious things!
Oh, I know how lucky I am LaMa. If only we could clone a younger version of him & I could send him over. He is also one of the best people I know. Actually probably the best.
Edit: He does, however, snore these days!

I can cope with the snoring if it's soft & regular, but sometimes it's like a chainsaw. I am going to get him tested though. I don't think he has sleep apnea.
We have the kids for the day. E is on her computer, G is reading the paper/doing the crossword, I am on my laptop & C is watching cartoons. It's ok for a while, but we'll do something today.
We had eggs with avocado on oat toast for breakfast, with black coffee. Lunch will be salmon with vegetables & dinner will be lamb and vegetable soup with some garlic bread. There will be a fruit platter in there somewhere.

Sounds like the modern version of one of my childhood favorites: the whole family gathered around the wood stove, everyone reading something different.

It is restful, but I really must take them somewhere interesting next time they're here for the day. We went for a drive & visited a cheese farm, with tasting & they had an ice cream. We're going to take them to the museum & planetarium next time. They sounded keen.
We were sitting around the wood heater. I forgot to mention that. It stays going now until the end of Winter.

I don't like winter much either, I grew up and lived in Florida for a long time. We moved to Utah a couple of years ago for my wife, she is from here. The winter is the hardest part of it; that and the lack of a Gulf of Mexico. However all in all its a nice place to be, I'm happy to be here.

And I appreciate your encouragement & advice, it is good to see folks with the kind of experience you have here!

Hi, LaMa. It was a nice day but G & I feel at a loose end when the kids are here, so we really must do something with them next time. We're having them again the next 2 Saturdays. This Sat we'll take them to the caves & the following to the museum.
Hi, Rob. I'm glad you're happy to be living where you are now. Did you leave your family behind in Florida? If so it's a good excuse to visit. I do like living in a place that experiences the seasons but I am glad it doesn't get really cold. I struggle with the start of Winter then adjust.

It's bucketing down with rain today so that curtails our wood gathering. We did some yesterday & G got his ute bogged again. I think he thinks it's a tractor & it's only a 2 wheel drive. He drove up on a rock again.
We may do some spring-cleaning I think.
