Cate's Diary

Even the best of politicians can't usually keep their promises because unless you live in a tyranny they have to find compromises with other parties but I'd like to at least see them TRY. Instead they all seem to work for the upper crust, no matter how crusty it gets.

I doesn't make much difference voting in the electorate where I live, it is a very safe conservative seat unfortunately. Along with a lot of raving loony Hanson supporters.

Oh, LaMa, I know. They probably start out with good intentions & principles (I like to think) but then it all turns into how to stay in power & compromising their beliefs *sigh*
Tru- our local Labour MP has a slim margin, but at least it is not a conservative safe seat. We also have too many bloody Hanson supporters & Jackie Lambie supporters. At least she is honest, if not very smart!

Our liberal party doesn't take into consideration the working class who are really suffering for decades with almost no wage increase and a ton of inflation and skyrocketing housing prices. So that is probably why we have such a walking disaster in the highest office here. If a liberal would take care of the homeless vets, the homeless children, and the poor, no one would ever get a conservative seat here again. I don't understand this because the Democrats used to be for helping the poor, too. It seems like we need a strong third party to shake them awake.

Russian accents and morse code - sounds right up my daughter's alley. I bet they would be friends if they met! My daughter loves absurd things that make you laugh, and last night we were singing along to Julio Ingleses' "Macarthur Park", "Someone left the cake out in the rain, I don't think that I can take it, 'Cause it took so long to bake it, And I'll never have that recipe again, Oh, no!" It's so so awful it makes you laugh!

That could be Australia!
I think cc & your daughter would get on like a house on fire :)
We head off tomorrow!
Wow.
Some really good news-

Our son may be getting back with C. They had a really good talk last week & saw one another again yesterday. He knows he needs to get himself 100% fit & healthy both mentally & physically & is going to see a doctor today & is going to give medication another try. He really needs to get his moods stabilised & he knows that now. He wants to give this relationship a real try. I am very hopeful. I want him to feel well. Everything slips when his mental health slips. He had given notice with his job, & realised that was not a good decision. I suggested talking to his boss which he did & his job is guaranteed. His boss is a gem & genuinely cares for him.
We are going to vote early today, take my library books back, have lunch (Chinese?), go through a car wash, call in to see some friends in their wholefood store & buy a box of fish for the freezer for when we get home.
Our fridge looks funny. It's almost bare!

Wow, so much great news!!! I am hopeful for your son and his girlfriend. If you find someone who loves you even with all your faults and you love them back, you are pretty darned lucky. I really hope going back on medication helps a lot. My friends with bipolar symptoms really did well on medication, and really struggled without it.

Interesting to know we aren't the only country ignoring our working class, but very sad, too. Hope your elections go well!

Have a fantastic, amazing trip!! Bon Voyage! :)

It's 7.40 am & we will leave home at about 1 pm today on our way to Greece. I actually got about 8 hours of sleep last night!
I know that we are prepared but it doesn't stop the brain saying "Are you sure?"
I'm trying not to think about the long flight. Australia is so far from everywhere.
I'll pop in from time to time for a quick check-in while I am away, but probably only in my own diary.
I'll be well & truly ready to start concentrating on losing weight when I get back.
Lots of love, xoxo Cate.

Cate, wonderful news about R. From the way you talk about him, I find myself rooting for him!! I’m on my own mental health journey - it’s not easy - but you and G are a wonderful support for him!

Also - holiday! Have a blast. Santorini is the only part of Greece I’ve been to and it is glorious! Have a wonderful time.

I am so glad your son is ok. That's so scary. I also hope you're on the mend, now that you have a steroid and an antibiotic.

Edit: I am way behind. Enjoy Greece!

Hi Cate,

Although you posted it very long ago, I am still so much inspired with your lifestyle. Once you start losing weight, you feel good about yourself. Everyone praises you, and you feel motivated to remain in the good shape always. It's just a matter of a good start. It only takes 21 days to make or break a habit. Once you'll get used to of a healthy lifestyle, you will not feel forced to do efforts for your health.
