Cate's Diary

12 days and counting.......
We actually packed yesterday  I'll try not to take stuff out & check, check & re-check. I will try....
I think we'll go into our local town today & I'll pick up some meds that I can then pack & I will be done. We'll go for a walk around the river too.

Hi, M2M & LaMa. I don't normally put pics in here, but will see when I get back.
I can be sensible, LaMa. G wasn't quite so sensible though. "I don't think we'll go for a walk. I should have brought a jumper. It's too cold" We ended up having another too lazy day.
11 days to go& counting :)

You're right, LaMa. I am still recovering. I tried to do a few things today, like digging a big hole to plant out the lemon tree & had to have a few rests. I did get the job done though. G had to help me actually get it out of the big pot & into the hole though. I have wanted this job done for ages, so just did it.
Shenanigans :D
We have also worked on removing some invasive plants & I have planted out a bed of greens. It may be too cold for them to grow, but what the heck. I thought it was worth a try. I had collected the seeds myself.

My parents have a greenhouse now but even when I was a kid they always had greens under glass (old windows propped with old planks, cut at an angle so the low-standing sun wouldn't just glance off the glass) in spring and autumn. It's remarkable how long some veggies keep growing!

Hi, LaMa & 'bye!
I think these greens are a chance to grow as our Winters are getting milder & milder. Your parents' garden sounds really productive.
Only 10 days to go!
We may stay at home again today & do some more gardening. We're having visitors at some stage. G's sister & her husband are calling in after a couple of nights away. He has just been diagnosed with bladder cancer & may have to have it removed soon. They are not sure what is planned. As usual, they are having trouble getting straight answers from doctors.
Tomorrow I want to go see a newish market that has opened about 40 km away. We will need to get out & go for a drive. The days seem so crazily long at the moment!

Hi Cate! I'm so excited for you!!! Do you have down days on the trip where you plan your itinerary for the day or is everything planned out already? Do you have enough storage space for taking oodles of pictures? I just bought a spare sd card for my camera for the vacation. It's wonderful you are almost better so you can be at 100% no problem by the time you leave!!

I hope your son and his girlfriend can work things out. Sometimes it takes being away from someone to realize how much you love them. I am a hopeless romantic though!

Happy walks and garden projects!

Hi, Marsia. We have some half days where we do our own thing, a whole day in Athens, where I am going to meet up with an old friend from the forum who lives there & then we have a free day on Santorini. I'm really excited about meeting her.
I am only going to use my iPhone & have made lots of space. I am also going to buy a USB to download my photos onto. My SIL has one & uses it when she travels. I may buy a SIM when I get there but have not decided yet. Usually, I just connect to free wifi & upload photos to Facebook at the end of the day. I never take a laptop or camera.
I hope R & C can work it out too. I'm still hopeful as I too am an absolutely hopeless romantic.
G & I are off soon to a market/providore place & might go for a walk around the beach.

Nice you won't have to worry about any camera or laptop on your trip! I take a billion pictures, so like having a camera. Glad you had a nice relaxing day!!

I am going to try not to take so many photos this time so I can experience it more. I do love travelling light.
Another lazy day. Went for a walk this morning which was good. My stomach is still unsettled from the bug. Yesterday I felt really constipated, today I have diarrhoea again :(
Only 8 days to go!

Thanks, Marsia. Bugs are getting stronger & stronger. Already Australia is off to a bad start with influenza this year & Winter hasn't even started.
Only one week from today!

My stomach has been good today, but I have been very careful. We went for another biggish drive today as the new slacks we bought for G on Sunday are too tight for him. It wasn't until I was about to wash them before taking them up that he said they were too tight. He said, "Well you said I was a size 34 so I assumed that was right, even though they were tight." Wow. Luckily I had not thrown all the stickers & tags into the rubbish bin. I turned it into another drive around the mountains. New slacks now ready for our trip.
Actually had a nice day today. I'm still sneezing & am croaky, but I am getting better & better & also getting very excited. In one week's time from now, we are on our 1st of 4 flights.
Tomorrow I am dropping G off at what will be his new golf club & I am going to have a hair cut & do some last minute shopping.
When we get home I am going to have another crack at 16:8. I still haven't heard from the cardio & must remember to ring before we go away so that I can have an appointment with him when we get back. I would also like to join a gym & need the ok.

Good turn around where you took a frustrating situation and made it a relaxing day. That's great that G considers the new club as his new base of operations. So glad he didn't go back to the old one out of convenience. I really hope it will be healthy for you to do IF again and that you can join a gym!!!

Thanks, Marsia. I am going to try to quickly turn negatives into positives. I think that G will be much happier at this club. He really loves the people there & they seem to love him. It will be much better for him. I'm hopeful too about doing IF. I might call in at the cardio's today as I'm in there shopping. Better scoot.
