Cate's Diary

I have so much trouble shopping for a bag that doesn't hurt my back with heavier things in it. We finally went to a travel store and got good help from the clerk and got something really comfy and practical and pretty nice looking. It was more than I would normally spend, but I am a cheapskate when it comes to clothes and bags, and it lasted a long time.

I just checked out the Kipling bags online & they look excellent. There is a store in town that may stock them as they do sell them online. Many of them are half price!

You know, I rummaged around in my cupboards & I think I have a suitable bag anyway. It's not exactly what I think is the perfect bag, but it will do I think. I am really over buying stuff & the perfect bag does not exist anyway.
G & I played golf yesterday & had a really good day. They are such a fun group. We will miss the next one as they have changed the date & we will be in Hobart catching up with an old friend & going to a Wooden Boat festival. The month after that will be the Australian championships, which go for almost a week & we are both competing & then in April we have booked a night away at the beach the night before the game. Each month is somewhere different & we try to go to them all. It is very social & we fit in well.
I am not going anywhere today but tomorrow I will go to town & get my refunds& get it done.
Wed. home & then Thu we are off to visit G's brother in Victoria who is very sick. We'll be away for 3 nights (staying 2 with them & 1 on the way back). It will be an expensive trip with airport parking, flights, hire car, 1 night's accommodation, meals away etc but it is best to live your life & have as few regrets as possible. I don't think we will see him again.

Wow, lots of fun travel and socializing! The wooden boat festival sounds beautiful - I love sketching boats! I have a huge collection of bags that came from the ether and settled in my closet. I'd better look through them to see if one is good for our vacation, too! And time to get rid of most of them!

I'm sure you will treasure your visit with G's brother, and I agree it's so important for everyone.

Thanks, LaMa.
Thanks, Tru. The fires are not near here & the smoke has not reached us, luckily. It's very sad to lose hundreds of years of button grass & wilderness vegetation. So many firefighters have been helping out, including from NSW. I love the comaraderie between firefighters. You need help? We'll be there!
Emily- death is about the only certainty with life.

I am pleased you found a bag . And you don’t need to buy one . I take a lot of stuff to goodwill now and I don’t replace it .

It’s very sad to visit someone knowing it’s the last time . I have been in that position too often but it’s lovely to to say goodbye .

Sounds like you have lots of plans made Cate . Enjoy the trip and the golf .

Thanks, Petal. It's much better to do what feels right, no matter how hard.
I like that you are making plans too, Petal & communicating your feelings with your husband. I feel lucky to be in such a strong & happy relationship, but am well aware of how important communication is between us & being assertive when I need to.

Thanks, Petal. It is a happy relationship, but we have to readjust all of the time. I still sound off sometimes to my sister. Neither of us is perfect & you can't be together so long without annoying one another from time to time. I had an outburst yesterday where I said:" Do you agree with anything I say?" He is very nervous this morning as they wanted us to be at their meeting this morning & he is going. I told them I wouldn't be there. He gets so anxious about this stuff. I said whatever they ask, just say no. They do need to give us a name & an email address so that I can re-send out flyers with the new info to all the clubs for the tournament. They all have our contact details on them.
I'm off to town to return this stuff.

Thanks Cate for sharing that. We definitely let life overtake us here but maybe now we can pull back a little .

Hope your shopping trip goes well . Go enjoy the me time

Neither of us reacts well to stress & it can make you niggly. We are also not used to the heat. It has been surprisingly hot here.
I went into town early & got my money back without any hassles & came straight back home. It just needed to be done.
G went to the meeting & left after 15 minutes, saying that he didn't think he should be there. He had said that we need a new contact & that entries for the tournament will start coming to us soon. No-one has stepped up. They don't have a secretary or a treasurer & we both think that they think we will change our minds & come back. They insist on going ahead with the tournament, even though they all seem to have different ideas about it. G assured them we won't be returning any time soon. If we ever do return (next year maybe) it will not be running anything or having any positions, but just so we could go have a hit of golf regularly any day of the week if we felt like it. Membership is very cheap & it is close. A whole year off will show us how we feel about that :) I definitely miss playing every week & will have to find another active hobby.
Good news is that since we quit my heart has settled down. No more feeling like I might just have a heart attack sometime soon.
Oh, plus I have lost a kilo.
