Cate's Diary

Ok, I usually have no problem figuring out what your local variations on the English language are but what´s a men´s shed? My mind is coming up with a dozen wildly different explanations.

Aww thanks for telling all that Cate . It sounds so lovely and your land sounds great to ramble around . Our local town is somewhat larger at 15.000. Its growing each year it seems. We do have all we need although for special shopping we drive to the city which is about 100km . But I'm happy to not go far .

Hope the FD goes well this week and a good week to us all x

I love our differences almost as much as I love our commonalities. This link will explain it better than I could https://mensshed.org/
Petal- where you are sounds similar xo
I love this shared space that we have here xoxo

LaMa- Men's sheds are a wonderful concept & seem very popular in Australia. I have a couple of things that need repair, including a very old chair & I'm going to take them there.
Em- It is a lovely town. I bought some ginger & lemon Kombucha yesterday to try before I do my online order.
FD today. Have my lunch to take with me. I didn't eat after 7 pm last night to stretch it out a bit.
We did our supermarket shop yesterday so I don't have to today. I also did my exercises, incl 7.5 km on my bike, stretches & ST. I have an ap't to see my GP this Thu but I might put it off so I can stay home instead. I'm going to go play golf tomorrow & am playing again next Sunday (& staying 2 nights in Hobart).

How is the mask going? Are you still wearing it?

We have Men's Sheds here too, it's a great idea. It seems that a lot of us are lonely and lost. This might just be the age of that. I think things will change again though. Humans are an adaptable lot and we figure out after some time when we've gone a bit wrong.

I always have a mask in my pocket Em & wear it in shops mostly. It's a multi coloured paisley- purple, pink, green & blue & my new glasses match & so does my new Fitbit band, which is also paisley. I have a scarf with me that my sister sent me for my birthday & am going to see if I can find a matching top today as a new lot of Spring clothes has come into one of our clothing stores. I'm going to wear more blue & less black.
I think you are right about realising where we have messed up & are trying to make amends. We need communities & connections xo

Oh, no, do not bring your chair this week if you can help it. That link you show has a feature article that says, "Celebrating mateship this men's shed week!" Maybe go on another week when there isn't mating going on!!

Your property sounds lovely, as does Petal's. We have 2 acres, but it is down a steep hill with a little spring that is year round that runs down into a steam at the bottom of the property where there is a redwood forest. It's hard to garden here with all the happy critters, but we have fruit trees and lot of berries.

You are doing so great on your exercising and FDs!!! :)

Oooooh! The mind boggles :DMaybe I'll leave it until next week when they're done "mating".
Your property sounds lovely too, Marsia. That's the only thing missing from our property. How lovely to have a stream!
Getting through my FD fairly well. I didn't eat after 7 pm last night & didn't have my "lunch" until 1.30 pm today. Lunch was a hard-boiled egg & 1 stick of celery. Dinner will be a grilled rump steak with lots of veggies. I am definitely getting used to FD's. I'm tired though.

Cate sorry you are tired but hopefully the steak gave you a lift .
We have men’s sheds too which popped up in the recession but I’m pretty sure they just a place for them to chat etc

I bought a lovely navy blue merino top today that looks good with the paisley scarf my sister gave me for my birthday. I am going to wear more colour. I now have a blue outfit, that will be wearable almost anywhere. The top can be worn just as a top or as a cardigan. It will be great for travelling.
Navy shoes( Skechers), navy slacks, navy top, blue/pink/other colours, paisley scarf. My glasses are now multi-coloured, including blue & pink, my watch band is blue/pink/yellow paisley. Colourful :D

Thanks, Marsia. I felt good when I tried on the top with my scarf. It was soft & really comfortable.
I'm off to play golf today & it's -1 I think. There is a good frost out there, but it is meant to be a fine day. I'm rugged up in layers.
My weight-loss is being very elusive, but I still feel I should persevere with 5:2. Something must happen soon.

Oh hey Cate, if you end up enjoying the kombucha I buy a brand online called Tea gardens kombucha. It's the best priced stuff I've found anywhere and I really enjoy it, it's 25cals a bottle and sugar free. Mango, berry and ginger are my fav flavours!

Also the weight loss will come, you've been consistent so just keep plugging away. It's all we can do (also a pep talk for myself after being stuck in the 62s for like... 6 weeks now? Poo!)

Ps the lunch pic you posted from the other day looked amazing... and we have the same cups hahahaha

I wonder if you started doing a lot of weight lifting type stuff to build muscle and increase metabolism if that would work or if you have to be a serious body builder for that to be effective?

Hi, Lucy. I just looked up the Tea Gardens Kombucha & it is very reasonably priced. I'm trying to avoid buying anything in plastic if I can. It's bloody hard! I love my cup! I have always loved paisley & am buying more & more of it :D
Hi, Marsia. I can't do any serious lifting as I have an Aneurysm, but I am sure that building muscle would help. We all could do with more of that.
Had a lovely day at golf. I'm still playing terrible golf but enjoying myself.
