Cate's Diary

Oh, really sorry to hear about the aneurysm. I hope it doesn't impact your life now.

I like doing things I am not good at but enjoy anyway. We play German board games with friends and I can barely follow all the rules, but it's just fun doing something challenging with a fun group of people!

Glad you had a good golf day!!
Thanks, Em
Oh, really sorry to hear about the aneurysm. I hope it doesn't impact your life now.

I have known about my Aneurysm for about 4 years now, Marsia & it hasn't got any bigger & the only way it impacts on my life is that I no longer lift heavy weights. I only found out about it as I played golf one day & felt short of breath & it felt different to Asthma, went to the doctor, she wasn't worried, but I asked for a referral to a cardio & then found out about it. I'm glad I did as I really cut down my salt intake & probably stopped it growing any bigger. Most people don't find out until it's too late.
Golf is very challenging, but if I am playing with people I really like, like yesterday, then it doesn't matter at all how well I play. I would like to find a little form though, but that won't be until the course is drier. I'm a bit of a sook.
I decided not to fast today as I just didn't feel like it. I will do my 2nd one tomorrow. I didn't wake hungry, just a bit tired & grumpy.
I had porridge, almond milk, a banana & a teaspoon of honey for breakfast.

I started typing here yesterday but got side tracked . I’m finding it hard to find time to sit and type . Suppose that’s a good thing .
Glad to you take care of yourself . We all need to mind ourselves as we just have one shot at life .
Yes it’s good you know about the aneurysm and take appropriate measures . And a good lesson to us all to cut down on salt and keep up our exercise etc
Glad you are enjoying the golfing still and all your new clothes sound really lovely .

Great you caught it in time. I was just looking up what too much salt does to the body and was startled at how bad it can be for you. I eat too much salt, so time to cut back! Living with a Filipino husband who adores salty things it's going to be hard. Have to cut back slowly so maybe no one notices! I tried golf once - I agree, darn hard, but also fun!

Thanks, Petal & Marsia. I have put my Aneurysm into the background now & don't think about unless I am contemplating lifting something really heavy. I really don't think about my "ailments". It's only when I have to see someone new, like the exercise physio that I feel the need to tell them.
Some people are addicted to sugar, but I think I was addicted to salt. I have really cut it down.
G & I are going down to Hobart tomorrow & playing golf on Sunday. I'm looking forward to seeing our YS again. He only started taking his Lithium medication a week ago & I'm really hoping he continues with it & isn't having too many side effects. Queasiness is common. It's only a low dose. Fingers & toes crossed.
I haven't been moving enough this week. I just haven't felt motivated at all, but I am still eating well. The exercise physio rang me yesterday & I felt a little guilty. I wanted a plan that I could follow every week but maybe was a bit too ambitious & enthusiastic the day I saw her.

I know what you mean. I haven't run 20 minutes straight in the gym since the first day. Today I did 15 minutes and then alternated fast walking and running every 2 minutes. It's dangerous setting goals on one of those days where you feel like you can conquer the world!

I really hope your son gives the lithium a good chance to see if it works. It worked wonders with a family friend who would go 110 mph (177 kph) down the freeway if he went off it. I also wonder if fresh grated ginger tea with honey would offset the queasiness if he gets some. Hoping for the best for him!

Haha. I must admit I did feel a bit like superwoman the day I went to see her. I was SO enthusiastic!
I hope he does too Marsia. It has been like a roller coaster for him & such a worry for years now. I'll mention ginger tea with honey. He usually makes himself a brew on a regular basis that does include both. I might buy him some ginger chews from the health food shop as I usually have some handy for travel. I get shocking seasickness.
I had better get off my derriere & get moving!

Don't feel guilty, your therapist has seen everything you can think of and then some. Try doing less repetitions or doing your plan every other day if it's too much otherwise but don't put it off because thinking of it reminds you you're doing less than you'd planned. Your body needs your help!

Have a wonderful trip to Hobart and best wishes for your son. My son annoyed me last night but I won't go into it or I will just get annoyed again .
Regarding the running Marsia it's probably very good to do walk 2 mins run 2 mins. You body recovers and is still burning g calories . The workout I did yesterday had boosted sections just like that .
It's funny how we all have days like superwoman then the next day we can't get motivated for anything . I think perhsps we are too hard on ourselves really and expect too much . But we all thankfully are not giving up .

LaMa- Thanks. I had told her that I wasn't doing them all but would email her what I am actually doing, so I will do that after the weekend.
Petal- I'm sure we are all too hard on ourselves & it is great that we don't give up though.
I have had a good day today & got everything done on my list & some more (but not my exercises). I had a really busy, active day & it's a FD. I'm looking forward to dinner.

I agree with what everyone said. I try to remind myself that goals are just benchmarks to aim for. Even though this is taking a while to lose the weight I'd like to, I am taking so much better care of myself and I am really beginning to feel it in my overall mood and energy levels!

So thank you Cate and everyone, and don't worry, we'll all figure it out!

Hi, Marsia. We are all conscious of looking after ourselves well & that is a good thing. I'm feeling very positive.
LaMa- the FD went well. I think I had about 510 cals on Friday.
We are still in Hobart & had a big day yesterday! Lunch with R & C & a friend & his new gf. Live music @4.30, followed by Thai food, with both of our sons & their gf's, more live music, lots of champagne, lots of dancing....We had lots of fun.
G& I had a buffet breakfast this morning & then played 18 holes of golf. We played with 2 really nice blokes & really enjoyed our day. We won't be catching up with R & C tonight as everyone is knackered. We think we might have pizza tonight. We'll have a small one each. I would quite like pho, but the Vietnamese place nearby does not open Sundays. Pizza & an early night I think. I'll be back home tomorrow & will check everyone's diaries then. G is sound asleep I just noticed :D

Cate enjoy the rest of the weekend it sounds like you are having the best time . Champagne ? Were you celebrating or just having it lol
