Cate's Diary

Hi, folks & thanks for your visits. I'm not good company today I'm afraid. I'm feeling very sorry for myself. I crept onto the scales this morning, expecting a 1 kg drop & I have gained yet another kilo. That is now 5 kg since we got back from Sri Lanka in May & the highest weight I have been since 2007! :( :( :(
Now, I have not been eating any more or drinking anymore, but this happened once before. The diet I went on back in early 2007 was very restrictive & they recommended if you start to regain weight to go back to the recommended foods on the initial program until you get it back in check.
So, that is what I'm doing, as of now.
Natural yoghurt, blueberries & stewed rhubarb for breakfast (no starchy carbs).
It is not always easy to pick yourself up & be positive, but I will try!

Lamb pics to follow. They are staying well away from us for now.
Golf club- much less involved than before- not on committee.

To be quite honest: unexplained weight gain is usually better than unexplained weight loss (which is a thing I see in my clients occasionally and it´s often hard to get people - especially women - to see a doctor about it). It still sucks mightily though! Have you been counting calories lately? Your breakfast sounds yummy, btw.

Weight gain can really pizz you off. Maybe you have been over estimating calories. Just start over and keep going.

Golf...... Play the game and go home. Leave the drama for those that tend to feed on it.

Hi, LaMa & rebel. I'm not really sure why I have gained weight, but I think it just has to be carbs. I'll drastically reduce them & see what happens. I had under 1400 cals yesterday. G is going away for a week golfing to mainland Australia & I will find it easier to "diet" while he's away. I got quite depressed about it yesterday.
The new lambs cheered me up immensely. We have 8 lambs all up, with 4 sets of twins :D
G is going with me to the local market this morning. He usually plays golf on Sat's but isn't that keen on going out there when the captain is there. We both went out there yesterday & did some tidying up in the clubhouse. Our Vets' wall needed rearranging.
This morning he said "It will be weird going away without you. We travel together. I think I'll have fun though." He is sweet. Of course, he'll have fun!
Food yesterday-
BF yoghurt & fruit
Lunch- chorizo, veg & GF pasta (not much) stir-fry, followed by a small fruit platter
Dinner- Salmon & veg, followed by a small bowl yoghurt & fruit
Total cals for the day- 1309
BF today- yoghurt, fruit & 1 spoon of almond meal ( 230 cals)

Aren't lambs magical? Getting your new plan started probably WILL be easier while you're home alone and can focus completely. Safe travels to G!

Lambs are adorable. I like sheep. They get a bad rap :D
I am aiming to lose 1 kg while G is away!
I have had a lovely day today. Market with G, healthy food, hike, wood gathering, reading.... sunshine....

That sounds lovely. No sunshine here and I don´t need wood but otherwise I´m planning something very similar.

I'm glad xo

I really wish I didn't get so f*{ۥn; hungry!

Nice me- seriously though- it is so hard to lose weight when you get so knuckle- gnawing bloody hungry. G hardly ever gets hungry. He can also eat anything & not gain weight. It's not FAIR!!!

Rant over...

Being able to have 25% more calories every day is quite a lot... And if you´re dieting and he isn´t it´s even more than that. But if you´re just cutting back on carbs it´s normal to be hungry, no? I think I´m starting to get less hungry now that I consciously eat more fat with my meals (it certainly helps my digestion, ahemhem), but I´ll need a bit more time to be sure.

Sorry to hear about the weight loss frustrations Cate. Maybe you need to give it another week or two before the changes you're making start to kick in. I know I weighed last week and was disappointed that I was the same when I had started making improvements in my diet, but I weighed this morning and I am a few pounds down again, so it just took a while to see the results.

I'm in a house of non- dieters so yea, it can be bad.

Every time I cut carbs my body thinks it's starving no matter how much food I have. I think it must be normal for your appetite to kick up when you switch to low carb. It tends to calm down but the first 3 days or so is just horrid. I've always had a huge appetite and the low carbs made it worse. The diet pills help with all that for me.
You'll probably notice how much more food you can have without the carbs. The calories just tend to be lower. Well, unless your like me and eat meat in 1 pound portions.

Thanks, LaMa, Emily & Rebel. It's getting better I think. Last thing at night I'm really hungry, but I'm not waking up hungry, which is good. I had a vegetable omelette this morning. I haven't weighed again. I'll try not too until next Friday.
It's a bit miserable here today. I'm glad we made the most of the sunshine yesterday. I also got some seedlings( perpetual spinach & coriander) planted out & mulched. They should get rained in nicely today.

Do you think G and the farm is enough for you? I sometimes feel like you are searching for something. It might not necessarily be weight loss.

When you lost the weight in 2007 did you also had a low carb diet? Myself - I as well lose the weight better when I eat less carbs. However, after a while when reintroducing them back in the diet, the weight creeps up :( Maybe you should (as me) just use the good carbs and still leave them in your menu in that way you will not feel that hungry. Also I have found out that rice (as well white), buckwheat and items like these are helping to keep me full longer and does not affect the weight loss that much.

Keeping fingers crossed that while G is away you lose the planned 1 kg!!! Good luck! ;);)

Ah, spring... I love autumn and I'm going for a walk now but Vienna will often go without a single ray of direct sunshine for more than a month this time of year :( Sometimes more than two.

I'm not searching for anything Em. I have had such a full life xo

It was very low carb & I now have a low tolerance. I know I can nip it the bud, but it requires a strength I'm struggling to find at the moment.

I would really struggle with so many days without sunshine! Hope you have a lovely day LaMa xo

Operation "Drop some weight quick-smart" starts today. G is off on the ship this afternoon. This will be interesting....Can I do it?
