Cate's Diary

Hope your fasting day went ok.
That's great that your son is making some good changes in his life. I hope he feels it really helps!
Glad you are finding you're voice with the women and that it is helping.

I may have mentioned it before, but might it not be a good idea for you and/or G to see a counsellor occasionally as well? Sometimes it´s easier to voice your concerns with someone you don´t know (and even better: someone you pay to listen to you so you don´t have to feel guilty about unburdening yourself with them).

Really glad things are getting easier with the golf women! I remember taking conversational techniques in school and being surprised to find how much control I actually have about how people react. My little sister hated it of course, she was around ten at the time and would tell me to stop using psychology on her :D

Good luck with the fast, I´m confident you can do this honey!

Thanks Mystic. I'm half way through my fasting day & managing better today I think because I ate more protein after golf yesterday. I' def. getting better at dealing with the women! It does feel quite a bit better now I know R is getting counselling.

Hi LaMa & thanks sweetie. I don't think I would get G to a counsellor, although I think he would benefit from it. If I feel like I'm not coping I will see someone, I promise xoxo

Just finished off a bowl of fresh strawberries(100g) with 75g of yoghurt. It was delicious & I wasn't hungry. Much better fasting day today. 500 cals [emoji106]
Salad for lunch, with egg & a little roast beef, dinner venison steak(100g) roast sweet potato, zucchini & mushrooms & spinach. It must have been a better balance today [emoji2]

Down another .5kg today :D We are going into Launceston on Monday to pick up some stuff for a golf tournament & I read through one of the catalogues for a department store in there. They have a whole heap of WW scales on special, really cheap. One's that are $190 are about $80. I'll look up Choice online & see which one they recommended. I know one of their top 5 were WW one's & Tru said her's were WW. I'm getting some. I'm not even pretending to break these ones. It feels so good to have my weight coming down again. I was starting to despair, just quietly.

Another beautiful day. I LOVE Spring, but, boy, do I get hayfever. I take antihistamines all year 'round for my allergies, but I'll have to get a nasal spray as well as I'm constantly sneezing! There are wattles out everywhere!

Better go wish a friend Happy Birthday before I forget, xoxo Cate

Thanks Mystic. I was pretty excited about it this morning. It's the lowest I have been for a year :D
My allergies are really bad today. I have a thumping headache now. I bought a nasal spray & eye drops & I'll take extra antihistamines for a few days I think.
Looked up reviews for the WW scales & they were rated as rubbish :(

Yay for lifting Barbie! Histamine overload generally makes me retain to water so you must be doing something very right :grouphug:
Also: I need you to keep doing well or I´ll just keep backsliding :p
Hope your allergies get a bit better honey, and I say hold on to your old scale if it´s behaving itself ;)

I know LaMa...pinch me... I have felt some fluid retention & I still have lost weight! [emoji15] I'll take it!...Don't get too inspired. I'm trying to overtake you & then, look out! It will be on! [emoji8]

Hi folks. It's a sunny day & I have the GK's again. They have both been unwell this week. I was too angry to say anything on Thursday, but our older son, D, told me that little CC had been home sick all week & his legs were aching so much she had to carry him around. When D asked her what the doctor had said she told him that she hadn't thought to take him to the doctor! She took the day off work Thursday to take him to the doctor & he was put on anti-biotics & they tried taking blood but couldn't. D took him into Launceston yesterday to a pathology clinic. He is much better today & I think they will both be up to some fresh air & maybe a kick of the soccer ball. D is playing in a State comp today, but coming back here tonight & staying at our place the night. That will be nice.

I must say it feels so good to be 3.5kg lighter than I was a month ago. My jeans are really loose. I might just be able to resurrect my skinny jeans with any luck.....that's if I haven't de-cluttered them. It used to upset me a bit that I didn't think I would ever wear them again. When you first lose lots of weight you shouldn't buy too many clothes as you often need to adjust up a few kilos & that few kilos is a size.

I had better go spend some time with these littlies.
Love to all xoxo Cate
PS said "hello svelte wife" this morning. He's sweet!

Congrats on the weight loss! You're doing an amazing job! Hayfever is so annoying :( Handling hay has me sneezing like a crazy person - red eyes, thumping headache. But at least the weather is beautiful :)
Ooh it's a bit exciting when your clothes start to get roomy - not long til you're strutting around in your skinny jeans and a cute pair of heels. Or, in true auzzie fashion, uggs ;)
Keep up the amazing work lovely Cate :)

I have a set of older WW scales, bought them for $50 in Big W about 2 or so years ago? Nothing amazing, doesn't store information like I thought it would in the settings. But has a few options you can play with. Good scales, does the job though. Very accurate (I kind of miss my 'estimation' scales LOL)

Do you all really wear uggs down there or is that just an american pretend australian think like Fosters beer...or whatever?

Poor kid! Really glad he´s feeling better or he couldn´t keep up with his svelte grandma ;) So far you have all the chances to catch up with the pumpkin *grumblegrumbleblamemyself* so keep shedding those pounds!

BB- ha ha- me in heels) I've got size 11 galumphers for feet(43?)! You are very sweet. I might get new scales & just make s choice out of the 4 WW's ones on special.
KP- Aussies did used to wear Uggs a lot, but not so much any more. I haven't had any for years, but wouldn't mind some for Winter slippers! They are SO warm!
Ooh LaMa, it's about time my Barbie weights slider challenged your [emoji316] [emoji2] [emoji262]I can't pretend I'm not half excited about losing these kgs [emoji2][emoji2]
Today is absolutely beautiful! Spring is so much my favourite time of the year even with hay fever!
I'm sitting in the sun drinking herbal tea [emoji3]
Fast day today.

Cate - we must be foot-friends, my feet are a size 10. We should have been Olympic swimmers with these flippers! I love my uggs, actually, I am a slipper fanatic. I think I have about 9 pairs...
Uggs are awesome. I live in them in winter (she says wearing her uggs right now!).

What flavour herbal tea are you enjoying Cate? How are you finding the 5:2 lifestyle?

Haha, Cate I actually have a pair of Uggs. Not the usual kind, these are winter boots. I don't wear them often, the snow is usually heavy and we here and they get soaked. They also make my feet too hot, I'm hot footed (size 8), lol!

I'm also interested in your preferred herbal tea flavor.

Hi BB & KP. I might just have to invest in a pair of Uggs for next Winter! One of our funniest customers back in the pub days had an expression "I'm as full as a fat woman's Ugg boot!" Now that I'm not(fat that is) I may start wearing them again. I would not, however, leave the house in them.

If I just have a cup of tea I usually have Peppermint(Organic Nerada), but when we share a pot of herbal I have 3 different ones in the pot- Peppermint, Green tea with Lemon Myrtle & a Lemon & Ginger. At night (on non-fast days) I have 2 hot honey & lemon drinks- juice of half a lemon, 1 teaspoon of honey & a lemon/ginger teabag. I also have some Tetley chamomile at the moment, just to add a bit of variety. I hate the red, flowery herbal teas usually. I love the tea you get in Chinese restaurants. It's usually Jasmine, but whenever I buy it to have at home I don't usually like it much. I rarely drink black tea(ie "normal" tea) any more. If I do occasionally I never have it with milk.

BlueBean I love the fact that 5:2 is working for me! It is not easy & I'm still hungry on fast days, but I think that it will get easier with time. I am not eating anything at all until after 12 noon, so that I can have 2 meals. My evening meal is the bigger one. My salad lunch today was only 182 cals. Tonight I am having a smaller version of G's dinner & it will be curries & rice, followed by some fresh strawberries & a dollop of yoghurt. I must admit I'm hungry.
We go away for 2 weeks in October to the 8-ball nationals, & usually I gain about 3kg. This year I am going to try to keep doing it & lose. I really want to be down to my GW by Christmas!

My next fast day will be Thursday. One thing that I am really noticing is that my stomach has really shrunk. I planned on eating a little more the day before FD, but found last night that I just couldn't. I am also not craving anything so that's a revelation.

Harrumph! You´re actually starting to make this fasting stuff sound interesting... Except, of course, for the fact that I hate fasting. I used to have an alibi as my blood sugar would go crazy after 3-4 hours of not eating but these days I am without excuse :D Might bulk-buy fresh ginger (for tea) tomorrow and give it a go...

I'm very proud of you Cate!!! Outstanding job. I was never that big a fan about the idea of fasting, but I do know that it has worked for many folks and seems to be working for you, so keep at it.

And there's nothing quite like the feeling of putting on a pair of pants and having them suddenly be loose on you. It feels so great. Of course it means you usually have to go buy more pants, but it's worth it.
