Cate's Diary

Hey Mum :)

A gentle prod is fine lol as long as I am reminded that I haven't posted then it'll be good. I love the name of your 'farm' it's really cool and sounds like it is perfect.
I love where we live too. My house is a small terraced house but it's home and the area is just awesome. I walk the dogs to our local beach in the mornings (not this morning, that was a big beach nearby), it's 10 mins walk down the road and it is so serene and peaceful at 6.15am. A lovely start to the day.

Much love xoxo

well you see?it not a coinsidence a called you a rock!!!( i always wanted to live in a stone home!and i remeber you posting a pic of your GORGEOUS home!)
I am also so glad to be back. Will fight real hard.
Why did you re inroduce bread in your diet?Is that to blam for your weight gain?I know what you say that it feels like 17 kg's
i really like that you continued with golf! And also you seem to be so active.Getting there myself!
Lots of love!

Lucy- thank you for the recipe. I'll do some shopping tomorrow for the ingredients I need & give it a try. Sounds yummy!
Kate- Where you live sounds lovely! We are thinking that we might go to the UK next trip(2015?) & I will make sure we visit you, if we do. I'm starting to look forward to travelling again. The start to your day sounded lovely & I'm glad that your new rescue dog is fitting in. I do love having you back here as you do brighten me up. I know you think that's odd, but it is true. We have to meet! xoxo Cate
Jess- re the bread- for 6 months I had no bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, wine.......etc & the program I did said to gradually reintroduce foods. I found out that I had a wheat intolerance as I was badly bloated & in pain, so now I avoid produce with gluten, but especially wheat. It is hard to live without any grain & I don't eat much of it My weight gain has come from just eating a little bit too much & not exercising quite enough & probably I would weigh less if I didn't have those 2 glasses of red wine that I have most nights. I'm glad I have stuck with golf too sweetie. Exercise is so important in so many ways, especially for lifting your general mood. I am loving doing weights at the moment too! I have to go sweetie as my LH is nagging me to go do some dishes. Fair enough lol. He has been cooking! Lots of love to you too xoxo Cate

No potatoes bread ad wine for 6 months?WOW!!!!Did you follow that?I do remember you liking your glass of wine ,did you cut that out too for those months? What about your food are you having many little meals?
You lucky your LH cooks!!!Mine doesnt cook.Well coming to think of it he doesnt really doanything!nthe matter of house work i mean.I find myself angry many times because of them (my 5 year old included)for not liffting a finger.)i really have to nag and be bitchy for them to help out,Never by themselves...:reddevil:

Hey Mum :)

That would be so cool if you came to the UK and, hell yeah, we have to meet. I'm so touched that you are so pleased to have me back It's lovely to feel loved :beating:

Thank you so much for your encouragement and support. You rock :)

Jess- Yep. I followed that program, without having anything that was not on the program for 28 weeks. It was very strict, but I lost 36kg in that 28 weeks. It was hard but also good as it was black and white & you knew what you could & couldn't eat. I'm really glad I did it, but don't know if I could do it again!
Kate-You're welcome! It is lovely to be loved sweetie :beating: We will meet one day I'm sure.

I didn't exercise much yesterday & will have to push myself over Winter, that's for sure. It is bucketing down now & I usually get a fair bit of walking in on a Tuesday, while my LH plays golf. I do the bar for him before & afterwards. We'll still go out there in case it's not raining there, but will most likely come back home before lunch-time. Tonight we are starting a new 8-ball season & the 1st game is in our local town so we'll be back in there again. I will have to change when I get home & hop on my bike! My inclination, when the weather is rough, is to sit on my recliner & read a good book! :smash: Bike 1st, then book!

Time to go xoxo Cate

Didn't do much yesterday, but had a good day & will make up for it today as I'm about to head out to golf. The sun is shining & it's not windy! Yay! Fingers crossed I have some good, positive company. I will try really hard not to take anything personally & am also going to try really hard not to try too hard! I play much better when I just relax & have fun. Love to all xoxo Cate

Played absolutely awful golf today, but had a wonderful day! It was sunny & there was no wind (well...not much) & the company was delightful. It was good! :D

ust about to write "go play some good glf" and i saw the next post of yours!!!nice you had a lovely day,so did i!Does golf burn lots of claories or is it mostly muscles working?
Cate i was wondering what a typical food day would be for you these days!Mind sharing?

Hi Jess. I just looked up Pligouri & it is Bulgar wheat. Glad you had a good day too! Golf burns heaps of calories. 4 hours of golf, pulling your clubs burns about 1440 cals! :D
A "typical" day's eating for me would be like this-
Breakfast(usually between 300-500 cals)- might be some ham & a little cheese, with mustard on gluten-free toast & maybe a slice with honey or
a piece of GF toast with peanut butter & 1 with honey or
eggs on toast or
an omelette.
I never skip breakfast!
Lunch is usually crackers, raw carrot, celery, snow peas, some salami or ham, olives, tomato
or soup and GF herb & garlic toast, if I'm out
Dinner is usually a big plate of cooked vegetables or salad with some lean meat or fish followed by a fruit platter.
Snacks & pre dinner
Before dinner we usually share a bottle of red wine.
I often have an apple during the day & sometimes a small bowl of salted mixed nuts or a few dry biscuits and cheese with our wine.
On Sunday nights we add some dark chocolate & maybe a couple of sweet GF biscuits to the fruit platter.
I have to head now so will say goodbye. Will pop back in tonight xoxo Cate
I have about 1500 cals per day

Hey Mum

Mmmmmm your food sound lovely.
I always have my wine after dinner when I'm sat down chilling. That is the worst time for me wanting to smoke.

Thanks for being such a love and giving me so much support. Love you xoxo

yummy! So you dinner is your main meal.I have mine for lunch around 3ish usually.
YOU have made me want breakfast and even though i havent had breakfast for these 7 days im eating better (a koulouri i have really is not breakfast) al of these months even i ate crap i had a lovely healthy breafast oats with milk some honey and fruit!!!!

How is you mum Cate?

Kate- I know that it is best to drink wine after having eaten some protein, but we both really enjoy having it before dinner, rather than after. I also am quite sure that the wine is stopping me from dropping my weight! I need to find some inner strength to cut it out for a month! I do love it! You are welcome to my love & support sweetie any time & forever. I have posted in your diary, before I read mine. Much love xoxo Cate

Jess- Breakfast is probably my favourite meal of the day. Your Koulouri looks nice & you could turn it into a more nutritious & more substantial breakfast with the addition of some avocado or cheese or some of your yummy Greek dips! I LOVE Greek food! I do wish I could eat wheat, but I can't. Bread & pasta made with wheat is so much nicer! Oats with honey & fruit is a very good breakfast.
That is very sweet & thoughtful of you to ask after my mother. It seems like a miracle, but she has really improved & appears quite bright, is eating & drinking well & looks to have put weight back on. I must ask them what she weighs. She got down to 34kg. I visit often, but don't stay long as she doesn't talk. I occasionally get a yes(often with a head shake so I'm never sure of the answer lol) or a no & sometimes a smile, but I am used to it now & have found that short visits are the best. I am grateful to have been given extra time with her. It's amazing really! You're a darling for asking. Lots of love xoxo Cate

Me, half-heartedly trying to lose weight!
Quercus has decided to drop his cals by 100 a day until he starts to lose a pound a week & I think I may need to do the same. If I drop mine a little bit that will either make me move more and/or drink less wine, so I'm going to start right now. I'll go change MFP now! Nothing is happening with my weight & I think it's the wine.....GAH!!!! I might have to try having some days off at least for a start....
Better get moving. I have started a golf club FB page( found it not very effective as you can only invite people you are personally friends with & can't tag anyone) & now also a FB profile for the club (it works much better) & want to keep it up to date. For the moment I'm doing both, but will switch to the profile one after a while when I get people moved over to it & used to it.
Bye for now xoxo Cate

I dropped my cals by 50 per day, to 1450 & NEARLY didn't have a 2nd glass of red wine, but managed to keep under my cals. Had a lovely day at home & read a book. I read "A Secret Kept" by Tatiana Di Rosnay, put a review on Goodreads & then noticed that Jess has another book by the same author down as a "to read". I love it when things like that happen. I love the connections we have in this beautiful world.
Because we only have one car now it means that if I want to go shopping or visit Mum etc I often have to spend the whole day in town & then go pick up my LH home from golf. If we can get used to it it would be better to only have one car. The car we have is very small though. It's a little Kia Rio- plastic Korean car. I'm in no rush to change though & we don't have any money at the moment.

It's almost time to head. It's market day today! :D
Love to all xoxo Cate
PS Weighed today & still the same- 1kg down, still 7 to go! I can feel a change happening soon though :)

Thats so nice to hear your mum is better!I remeber you always speaking about her ,and i having her photo taken in that store!!!!how happy you said she was that day!Sweet!

I lOVE goodreads!!!That book i got there you said is by the same author "sarahs key" was recomended from my uncle. He said it was really nice!I have so many books i want to read!

good thinking on lowering a little the calories to see if things speed up a bit!I hope i get to do these things as well.seems like its taking a very long time for me to get going!!!

Hi Jess I'm being boosted by you & Kate being back. It has taken me ages to get motivated to getting back on track! I LOVE reading & am a really fast reader. I started another "Flavia De Luce" book yesterday, "Speaking From Among The Bones" by Alan Bradley. I really enjoy them. They are good, light reading & always entertaining. I try to choose books that are uplifting & I order them online from the library so it's also free entertainment. Dropping my cals by 50 a day to start off with I think is a good idea. I still know that I have to cut out the wine to get my weight really moving down! I won't have any wine tonight as it is Sunday & we have a "treats platter" on Sunday nights, including about 5 squares of dark chocolate. Tonight it will include a couple of GF treats I bought at yesterday's market.
Market- I bought LOTS of yummy vegetables. I want to eat a lot more veg, less red meat & more fish! I'm having a salad for lunch today, even though it is really cold. I bought some hot smoked salmon fillets from the fish farm, 41o South the other day & I will have a salad with salmon & avocado. YUM! We will buy a box of Atlantic Salmon fillets from Devonport when we go to give blood next Thursday.
I also bought heaps of apples from an apple grower. I have not been eating enough apples!
I also bought 3 beautiful deciduous shrubs. They are a bright orange!
Time to polish off my book, xoxo Cate

Quick report to say it's about 3.15 pm here & I have inputted all my planned food for the day &exercised accordingly (to keep within my daily cals) & am drinking LOTS of water & confess to being VERY hungry. That won't hurt me though!

Hi Mum :)

I didn't know that it is best to drink wine after protein lol I just like to curl up at the end of the day with it :)

I read sooooo much too. I will have a go at anything but I have learnt over the years that if I'm not into it by page 100 I don't carry on in the hope that it will improve. I've got so many books around the house that I've picked up at cheap sales. They are always the best, the random ones.

I'm so pleased that Jess and I have given you an extra boost. The fact that you two are here is definitely keeping me going :)

Kate- This is the most motivated I have been for AGES. It's great that we are spurring one another on. There's a lot to be said for having moral support & for feeling really accountable to one another! I can't wait to hear how your 1st run goes! :D

Yesterday- was my best day, diet & exercise-wise for such a long time. Because it was Sunday & we have a "treats" platter on Sunday night I ate very strictly during the day & exercised heaps! I had a smoked salmon & avocado salad, which comprised & great big bowl of lettuce, 70g smoked salmon, 1/4 avocado, 1 tomato, celery, 4 black olives, fresh coriander, mint & parsley, a little mayo & some Balsamic Vinaigrette. It was delicious. The only snack I had during the day was an apple. When my LH got home from golf he was really full as it had been over-catered. I was ravenous, but I made myself wait until he was hungry enough to eat some dinner. I drank NO WINE & decided to FORGO THE SUNDAY NIGHT TREATS! Instead I had half an apple & some grapes & was WAY under my cals for the day.
I woke up this morning & felt great!......but no lighter, .........yet!
I'm in my exercise gear again & will do more weights today I think, after warming up on the bike. I did 10km yesterday, vigorously, plus gardening, plus housework.
Feeling good, will be feeling better when that next kg disappears!
Cheers, xoxo Cate

Morning Cate. I've really enjoyed reading your diary. Its taken me a few days but well worth it. Have you any idea how many people you support and motivate? You are quite a lady.
