Cate's Diary

I played golf on Wed & improved by another 6 strokes. That's 21 since my 1st game 4 weeks ago. I really enjoyed it again & my stamina had improved considerably. My 2nd 9 was better than my 1st this time & the last 3 holes were quite good. I wasn't very stiff yesterday, but rode 7.5km last night, after our GS went to bed, thinking that must help. I slept VERY soundly last night & have woken up feeling really good. We're going to our OS's today & having a working-bee with him.

I am entered in another golf tournament next Wed. It's Ladies/Vets day and my LH runs the Vets. Then the following week-end the club has it's annual tournament and he & I are competing in a Mixed Pinehurst on the Sun. Phew- I should get fit at this rate. I get so hungry when I play so I'll have to come up with a convenient low-cal, low-carb lunch to eat on my way around. I think I have been eating too many sweet things. Bananas are good to eat while you play, so maybe I'll take 2 each time I play & skip the sandwich or gluten-free muesli bar. I get ravenous!

Have I ever said that I hate being hungry? I think that's one of my biggest problems really.

Boring myself already so will go....

Lots of love xoxo Cate.

Hey Cate ! way to go on improving your game & sounds like major exercise happening for you -

U will be so fit & strong by the time you go on vacation :hurray:

Good idea to "Fuel" your furnace when golfing ( it does burn a lot of calories - can't run an engine on "empty" - not good )

A Banana sounds perfect !

A nice filling fruit.

Have fun golfing with Hubby on Sat. ( 'bet he'll be impressed with your improvement in your game.)

cheers,

Maryann

Hi Maryann, I am loving my golf that's for sure. I'm hoping he doesn't tell me where I went wrong every shot still! I need him to stop doing that as it makes me very crabby. Golf is such great exercise! I had better get moving today. Mum is back in the home now & I need to go see her. I was in the bush at our son's place yesterday & we were cutting up wood & having a working bee when my phone rang asking what time Ii was picking her up. No-one had told me that I was meant to. I assumed (bad thing almost always) that the community car or the home would have picked her up. I'll be more careful from now on. I went with our son to the tip & picked her up & dropped her off on the way back. I need to make sure that all's well. I don't think she will stay in low-care very long. I am coming to terms with that.

Better go. Love to all xo Cate.

I think I'll go back to tracking my food again soon on MFP. I miss the accountability of it all. This time I'll be really strict though. I will try sticking to 1200 cals a day, for a month only & put in actual planned exercise, but not housework etc. My weight has started creeping up again in the last 2 weeks. I felt like I needed a break, but regaining weight was not meant to be part of the equation! I'll start back, with a vengeance next Monday, but will try to drop a kilo before then.

We're off to do some shopping for all of the golf club tournaments, this coming week-end. I'm playing in a Ladies/Vets tournament on Wednesday.

Love to all xo Cate

Hey Cate - sorry to hear weight crept a bit - but are you sure its' not muscle? ( you have been golfing a fair amount...)...or was it some not-so-good food choices...

Happy shopping - for the tourney's & hope the tournament is fun ....

We have major snow here today - I just came in from 1hour of shovelling the walks & driveway ( ha ha - Northern Canadian "weight loss work out"...) :hat:

cheers , Happy weekend,

Maryann .

"but are you sure its' not muscle?" I wish, Maryann, I wish! I'll get rid of it- I have to. At least I know what to do. I have been eating healthily, but too much. Sometimes we just feel like a break. It's not worth it though! I'm in a hurry today (again!) It's our 37th wedding anniversary (been together 41 years) but we have to do some more shopping for the golf club, visit both mothers & we have a funeral to go to at 1.30 & then 8-ball has been changed to tonight, instead of tomorrow. As John Lennon said "Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans."

Love to all xoxo Cate

That's sweet of you Maryann! Thank you!

I played another 18 holes again today & LOVED it again. I can't really believe how much I am enjoying golf & how I don't seem to care if I play bad shots or have a bad hole. I just get over it instantly. Is this what they call growing up? At 59? I like it. I am feeling REALLY good. I'll weigh myself Friday & will prob be back to being really strict again next week. I have eaten very healthily this week & will be playing another 18 holes of golf on Sunday.

Loving life, loving Spring, xoxo Cate

Just typed a long post & lost it. :(

Maryann, Halloween & Valentines day are celebrated by some in Australia but haven't really caught on.

Re golf- golf is a wonderful sport! Being outside in the fresh air & in great company, while getting exercise is excellent! I have surprised myself with how much I love it.

It's my Mum's 88th birthday & I'm about to head off to spend half the day with her. I hope she's feeling bright today. Unfortunately it's overcast & chilly!

i had better scoot. Love to all, xo Cate.

Maryann. :):hat:

Hi Maryann, I am having a lovely week-end thank you. I spent most of yesterday with my Mum & ended up taking her for a long drive through Sheffield & around the mountains. My Mum loves the mountains, as do I. It was a nice day. I am grateful to still have my Mum but it is hard seeing her so frail, both in body & in mind. That's just the way that it is now.

Oh Maryann, I SOOOO love golf. I amaze myself really that I am loving it so much. I haven't been home long but came in here to tell you that my LH & I won the Division 2 net, with a net score of 59.5! My smart husband decided not to let me know how well we were doing & I just relaxed an had an absolute ball. Winning was the icing on the calorie-free cake! NET 59.5! :eek2:

Oh boy, I just don't see that I play very well at all. There is something in my head that says "you can do better than that, that's just ok" & all around me are saying "that's a great shot! so I'll just go with the flow & enjoy it. If I start to get serious about golf, I'm stopping right there & then. To me it's exercise, fresh air & companionship, pure & simple. Just a game.

I think I love being at this stage in my life.

Love to all xoxo Cate.

I'm still on a high from my golf yesterday. Exercise- there's nothing like it for making you feel great! I have no stiffness at all which is another bonus. I am going out this afternoon & doing the bar at the golf club to help out. The usual barmaid(paid) is away for the long week-end & it will help considerably if I do it. Then we have a surprise 50th to go to so I'll be out for most of the day. I'm having a very lazy start to my day now though & enjoying still being in my PJ's. Mind you it's only 910am. I thought it was later! My LH left very early for golf as it was an 8.30am hit-off, being a 27 hole comp today. Not for me thanks, although I sure have been bitten by the golfing bug!

It's a beautiful, Spring day here in Tassie- expected top of 25o Celsius. Nice!

Bye for now xo Cate.

Hey Cate - 25C - lovely !.... so lucky - we are into start of our winter here in Canada - ick. :)

long weekend there too - so nice.

Hope your Bar-shift goes ok , & the 50th is fun , enjoy your sunshine.

Had a really good day yesterday & again today. There was good news on the scales this morning & I have shaken those few kilos I had added recently. Time to get a little serious about getting down for our big 60th trip. I'm in the mood now, after having had a bit of a break! Thanks for your visit Maryann. Cheers, xo Cate

I'm over-tired today I think. I played golf again yesterday & was pretty woeful I thought. I went the other way this time & had 7 more shots than last Wed. I just felt out of sorts really. Today I'm knackered & have been snacking. I might just go have a nap I think as I have to get GK's off school buses this afternoon & I'm feeling sooo tired. The forum is dull at the moment. I'm missing Kate & Jess I think! xo Cate.

AHey Cate! I miss Kate too..what's going on with her?
Sounds like you are doing well with your exercise! I took a day off today, too pooped after a late night last night trip back from Shanghai.
Thanks for all your support!

Sarah

Hi Sarah, I bet you are pooped after yet another trip! I think Kate is just busy, busy, busy & the same with Jess. It's the nature of the forum & it changes over the years. It waxes & wanes. I get really attached to people & don't let then go though :blush5: . That's just the way I am- like a loyal dog! It's funny but I am not one for believing in horoscopes(admit to reading them occasionally though,) but if you read the traits for a 'typical' Taurean, I am it! Almost everything Taurean applies to me!

It's much easier maintaining your enthusiasm for weight-loss/maintenance when you connect with others & feel that you have a lot in common. Doing it totally on your own is very difficult. It's great to be able to share your doubts etc with like-minded people. I had better get on my bike literally now as I have to go visit both mothers today & I usually come home a bit drained. I am exhausted & aching from golf still. I know that I was really tensed up this week, from playing with the best women's golfer at the club. Shame really. I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much for that reason. Oh well! Cheers, xo Cate.

Hi Cate - congrats on the scale success & kilos gone - now just keep your Momentum going....Paris time will be here before U know it !

bth_P1000977.jpg

I totally agree with you that the support on here is so important for success - & if it's any help - at my rate of loss - I'm likely to still be slogging away at this the same time next year - so you've got at least one steady camper- cheer leader here for U Mrs.Taurus....!
570p.gif

Hope your bike-ride - visit to the mother's is nice ( how smart to include exercise in your transport...win win...)

& I'll bet you are so tired/achy 'cause you worked -hard & burned LotSSSS of calories with all that golf gal....

cheers Cate , chin up ( at least U have sunshine - ...

...U should try life here on Canadian praries these last 2 weeks - I think we've only had 2hours total sunshine since late Oct.- ick
36_19_5.gif

...well - off for a cup of peppermint tea ( you'rs sure sounded good - think I will have one ).(maybe will perk-up my snow-day blues..)

Hi Maryann, I'm chirpy & feeling fairly positive. My bike ride is only stationary, but most days I ride almost the same distance as it is to the town where my mother & MIL live ( a bit over 10km). Are you on My Fitness Pal as well? I'm back to logging my food & exercise to get myself motivated to shaking off a few more kilos. You're right in that our trip will come sooner than we think! I'll have to watch what I eat & drink after my games of golf, so that i don't waste all that energy. Last week I drank too much wine afterwards. Not good. Such a waste!

I'm spending the day at home today & will be very active. I have lots of energy & will do some gardening & either go for a big walk or ride my bike, or all of those things. What I won't do is sit in my chair reading.

Lots of love xo Cate.
