Cate's Diary

Hi Sarah, I won't do anything really drastic as I know that would probably only slow my metabolism down. I have increased the lean protein & reduced the carbs & feel a little better already. I had never felt better than when I was following the Cohen's program so I'm sure my body will appreciate me cutting back on the starchy carbs. I felt I needed some extra determination so have re-focussed again. Thanks for your support Sarah! xo Cate.

Feeling GOOD! Joh is back, which is great. I will come back in here more often & see how it goes.I needed a WLF boost & I just got one. YAY- Joh is back!!

Been having MIL problems( a fall!) & life has been very hectic. Will hopefully be able to report some weight-loss soon as I feel really focussed again. :D xoxo Cate

AGreat Cate!! Love it! I'm sure the weight will come off!! It's a journey, not a race...and you're doing great on the journey!

Good choices to you!!

Sarah

Thanks Sarah. I played golf again today & was equal winner in B division, but lost on a countback. Last week I improved on my previous week's score by 18(!!)& this week I took another 10 off. Woot woot. I played under my handicap for the 1st time. It was so much fun. I told the 2 women that I was playing with that I had said the week before that whoever I'm playing with when I shoot under 60 for the 1st time on 9 holes I will shout them a drink. My 1st 9 I shot under by 2 & then my 2nd by 3 so I bought a bottle of bubbly & shared it with them. FUN!!!!

Feeling good about life & loving eating more strictly. Golf is great for my mental health as well as my physical health. I'm really enjoying the new friendships.

Bye for now-off to 8-ball(pool) tonight xoxo Cate.

Thanks Anna. That's sweet. I do feel like I'm on a bit of a roll at the moment. We have to make the most of life that's for sure & when you're on a roll you should go with it. LOVING golf & life at the moment. Our elderly mother situation can be quite depressing & we both need a good distraction & golf does it. Cheers, xo Cate.

Oh boy, I must have this golfing bug really bad! I played again last night with my LH (9 holes. ) I am LOVING golf!

November exercise-

Average 76 mins per day! YAY!

That's my bike riding & golf mostly. Feeling great. It would be much better to be actually losing weight but I know I am getting fitter & fitter! My resting heart rate is 55. I'll start checking it when I'm riding my bike or when I finish 18 holes of golf, just for fun. It was under 100 after 5km the other day so I thought that was ok.

I have ridden over 10km already today & am off to do some housework. The sun is shining & it is a beautiful day!

Love to all, xoxo Cate

Went out to our first Christmas dinner last night & was really disappointed with the food. It was mostly Italian food- pizza, pasta etc & their GF pasta is fairly awful, so I ordered an eye fillet steak "rare, even blue rare is fine" & it was barely pink in the middle. It was served on a mountain of stodgy potato & some wilted spinach. We had a Greek salad with it so I ate lots of salad & only a tiny amount of the potato. It was really ordinary. I ended up having a GF dessert & it was a little better but we decided we won't eat there again. My LH's meal was just as disappointing. It was quite expensive. We eat so well at home but you do have to go out occasionally. We could have had seafood & French champagne for the price! OK- enough of the complaints!

Today I am off to town to see my Mum & I am taking her out to lunch. We'll go to the deli. Their food is really good & they cater to people with special food preferences/ intolerances. I hope I can find healthy gluten-free things to eat in Italy & France  I may have to choose anti pasta entrees mainly & occasional sweets.

I don't have much to say today (I hate sounding so negative!) so had better scoot. I'm feeling quite tired today which can make me a little grouchy.

xoxo Cate.

I hate weighing myself as I vary 2kg from day to day! It is so frustrating. I am not sure if I have gained a little weight from building muscle but I am finding getting on the scales is fraught with tension. Ugh, I hate those scales! I am going to have to have one solitary week of no wine & no starchy carbs at all to see if I can shake those scales back down. I like starting new things on a Monday so will do it next Monday!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRR!!!

After saying all that I'm actually in a good mood & feeling positive about life in general but just having a fat attack. Was under my 1440 cals yesterday but 1.5kg more this morning than 2 days ago. I have not exercised much the last couple of days & feel sluggish physically.

I had better go hop on my bike xo Cate.

AI know you can do it cate :)

I hope your not to close to those bushfires down your way !!

Thanks Tru. That's thoughtful of you. The fires are down south & we're up north to north west, but our son works for Parks & many parks employees are fighting the fires as lots are in Parks land. I think it may be a scary bushfire season. We'll have to get cracking with clearing around our house.

I actually hopped back on the scales again, after my bike riding(10km) & shower & was back down 1.5kg! Go figure! Maybe we need new batteries soon. I won't weigh until next Monday! I'm over my crabbiness at the scales...it's just a number, it's just a number, it's just a number. LOL

xoxo Cate.

AHi lovely!

Bloody scales!!! That is crazy that they went up and down in the space of a morning! I know that I always have to put mine in exactly the same position (so the top right corner sits in the groove of a certain tile) or else it will vary drastically. Can't we do it the old-fashioned way, where they just put us in a blanket and hang us from a scale? That'd be much easier.

Good luck without wine! Think about how long you went for in the past... you can do it! And meanwhile, your 60th in Paris!!! :hurray:

Hi Joh, Has this forum gone crazy or what? Have we gone back to the old format, old avatars etc. I had to do a search for my diary! Joh my weight varies heaps! It's very frustrating! I'll have to tell myself that I can go without wine. Our OS is going without alcohol until Christmas & he said it's as much habit as anything & I agree with him. When it's "wine o'clock" I'll have something like mineral water with a squeeze of lemon in a wine glass
I am tired after playing another 18 holes of golf today & this forum is very pesky tonight. Hopefully it will be up & running properly soon. Thanks Joh for your visit. Bye for now sweetie xo Cate

I hear you on the frustration with scales and accuracy. Wouldn't it be great if we weren't such slaves to that number? I just bought a new scale and it measures body fat. I'm going to try it out tonight but fear it is going to say I weigh a bunch more than my cheapy scale. Oh well, we'll all get to out goals in the perfect time. So happy you get to golf so much. I have always wanted to take up golfing but never done more than the driving range and putting. I need to find a friend who golfs :) keep up the great work!

OK, finally found your thread! I totally agree with you on the scales...since I am weighing more, I've noticed how much it fluctuates..amazing. Like Alice29 says, it's not about the number (although that's what I focus on!) it's about our fitness and health and appearance...that's what I keep telling myself! You will have a great time in Paris!

Hi Cate - sounds like you have had a busy couple weeks gal.

~ Scale - I get frustrated & puzzled sometimes with the scale too - sometimes shows a gain- even when U know u have been good and should be a loss, and sometimes a loss-when you know u haven't earned it?.. when the scale does this - I just try & focus on the fit of my clothes (as a back-up measure) and have faith in the process and lifestyle-'til the scale catches up... Glad to hear you are doing so well with your golf - I am envious...our season is fairly short here...am so glad you are enjoying - the exercise, the socializing - all good - for weight & mind View attachment 19268

Cutting back on the wine should help with a bit of weight-loss...am pretty sure I've read in a few different references about alcohol affecting metabolism .... and with skipping it a few days...you'll appreciate & enjoy it all the more when you do have some ! View attachment 19267

well- off to the treadmill - time to get back in my "groove"-vacation over- back to work Monday & time to get back into the "healthy" routine more strictly too... View attachment 19266

cheers,
maryann C.

Hi Alice, Sarah & Maryann. Thanks for visiting my diary! I decided to wait until the forum had settled down before returning to posting regularly again. I used to prefer the old format so am sure I'll get used to it again.
I have stayed off the scales since the dreaded day & feel much better for it. I have been playing lots of golf & played in a 4 person Ambrose yesterday with my LH & 2 other men. We came 3rd! I was exhausted though as it was very hot. I thought I must have forgotten to take my blood pressure pill in the morning as I really struggled to get around the 18 holes. Apparently I played well. Oh boy, I do have high standards for myself though. I think I am so used to seeing men play well that I expect to hit the ball as far. I LOVE hitting off the tee. In an Ambrose you all tee off & the take the best shot & then you each play from that position. Each player has to have at least 3 shots taken so even if you don't have 3 good shots in that round they still have to use 3 of yours. Sometimes that is difficult but yesterday they took 3 of my 1st 5 shots as my 3 & then another 2 as they were the best ones. I was happy with that.
I also hit 2 tee shots onto the green on a hole where I have often gone into the lake. One day I lost 3 balls into the lake! I couldn't believe that I got BOTH shots onto the green. Our local course is only a 9-hole course & the 5th & 14th are the lake hole. I usually DREAD it! YAY I'm not going to dread it anymore!
Sorry to bore you re the golf. I got a bit carried away. I am totally knackered today though. It was hot yesterday & I got really cramped last night. I even drank a Gatorade(plus water) while playing & ate salted nuts, but still cramped badly last night. I usually drink 2 water bottles. I already take Magnesium every morning for cramp but may take another every morning over summer.
OK. Enough for today. Cheers for now, xo Cate

Life is good at the moment. I am playing lots of golf. Played with the women yesterday & we had a Christmas break-up party. It was quite crazy really. It was 9-holes of crazy 'rules' like this hole you play every shot with your putter, this hole the bunker is 'the green', another hole was the 'contraception' hole & you had to play every shot with your legs together.....& so on. The lunch was good. Everyone took a plate & it all was delicious. There was no junk & most of it I could eat.
Last night was 8-ball night, back at the golf club again. I did the bar all day & evening & played 9 holes of golf in the middle of it.
Got to bed at 1am & am fairly tired today. We are going back to the golf club again this morning as a big 2 door fridge is being delivered. We'll help set it up & then my LH & I are going to play another 9 holes of golf in the chicken run comp.
Yesterday my LH saw a large Copperhead snake in our rockery. EEK!
Last night (this morning) as I was about to get into bed a small bat was flapping around our bedroom & I had to get it out. They are tiny & it took a while before it eventually decided the great outdoors was the go.
Early night tonight!
xoxo Cate

Wow the wildlife is a bit exciting... And that fun golf Xmas game sounds cool too. A good way to earn the food and drinks at a party.
