Cate's Diary

When I get anxious about the future (which I do a lot) I think about how almost nothing ever goes like I picture it will, either positively or negatively. Life is so much more dynamic than we give it credit for. So I am trying lately to picture what I would like to happen next in my life, although I know it won't happen just as I picture it. It's sort of like steering a boat - I try to go in a general good direction and see where that leads me.

I am an absolute bundle of nerves this morning. I'll try really hard to try to picture where I want to go. I want to feel confident within a group of strangers. Comfortable in my own skin. Eek! I may not be back until Wednesday when we have a day off.
 
Thank you, Marsia, LaMa & Petal. I'll pop back in tomorrow morning & post. We haven't been home long & I am quite tired. Neither of us has slept well for the last 3 nights. We both had a lovely day today xoxo

Sunday night was pleasant, but I was really worried about playing & felt out of my depth.
Monday morning I was a nervous wreck. I was in a cart with a lovely woman who was doing her best to calm me down. I played so badly & really just wanted to escape & go home for the week. By the end of the game, I relaxed. That night we had dinner at the greyhound races, which was actually fun. I was sitting with people I knew & like. We stayed at G's sister's place that night & had to be up at 6 am to get to the course by 7. The bed was horribly uncomfortable & we hardly got any sleep. The shower was freezing so that woke us up well & truly! We were away before they got up.
I was playing in a cart with M, who talked me into playing in the first place. I had a really fun day. My golf was still not much better, but I was relaxed & just really enjoyed the day. G & I are both really impressed with how everything is being run. It is a credit to our social group committee. We really appreciate it. There is a lot on today that we were invited to, but we stuck around for the afternoon yesterday & came home last night & are staying home today. We were in bed by 9.45 last night & got a good night's sleep.
Tomorrow I'm with M again, so safely in my comfort zone. I may not play on Friday, depending on how I pull up after tomorrow's game. I have been getting around fairly well, except for some tendonitis(?) in my left arm.
G is quietly snoozing in his chair. He's not playing in a cart, which makes a lot of difference. It is a long & difficult course & is very challenging. Some holes are horror holes!
I am going to be extremely lazy today.
 
M2M- I'm glad that I got over my anxiety & am looking forward to tomorrow. I was well supported. The woman I played with on Monday was really lovely & kind & I could imagine her becoming a really good friend. I hope that she does.
LaMa- Oh, boy have I had a lazy day. I have massaged both of my arms & legs & feet with Magnesium oil & I will concentrate on relaxing my body tomorrow & keeping my head down. I'll do the same tonight.
 
That's great you made a nice new friend, and got a relaxing day in, too! I agree with LaMa, be sure to take care of your arm, and don't worry if you can't finish a game or anything. Happy golfing!!!

Thanks, Marsia. I massaged myself well last night but didn't sleep at all well again. It was hot & humid & I tossed & turned all night. Oh, well.
I won't be a martyr if my arm hurts. It's only a game.
We'll come home tonight & have to be back in town early tomorrow. It looks like it might be showery today. We so need it.
 
Hope all goes well! We are going to try valerian root extract in liquid form for J so he sleeps. I'll let you know if it works - we are ordering it online, so it may be a week or so before we get it. Happy rain!!

If it doesn´t work, you might try melatonin. It´s what the body naturally produces to make you sleepy in the evening - and what people often don´t produce enough of if they don´t cut their engines and turn off the screens in time.
 
I'll check out both Valerian root & Melatonin after this week.
Another good day today. Am very tired though, but playing in a cart makes a big difference. Not hurting. Will sleep with just a sheet tonight.
