Cate's Diary

What Tru said......please take care of yourself sweet Cate, these pains are worrisome!!! Glad the whole scam thing was resolved though, and that you and G are avoiding the Golf Club drama as much as possible. Sending you lots of love and positive thoughts!!

Rest up and look after yourself for now. Your health is the most important thing! Well done for taking such a big step in sorting out your mental health.

Very glad G decided not to go back on the committee but I´m not surprised your BP was high the day afterwards. I really hope the chest pains subside as you get to relax more again and yay for trying meds!

Look after yourself cate, is there an alternative golf club near you ? a clean break from all of the stress of the current one may be helpful and beneficial for your health.
Thanks,Tru. There are a few but quite a bit further away & I don't think that they would be hassle-free. Unfortunately(?) we are both well known & it's unlikely that we could just join another club, without there being expectations that we would help out. I think not going back on Committee will be the main thing. That & not listening to B.S. My tolerance levels are very low This morning I flared up & said "Oh, for God's sake, just move on!" to one of the worst moaners & he stormed out of the clubhouse. I don't regret snapping, but am glad I didn't say FFS!

Thanks, Jess. It is not easy admitting you need help. It still feels like a failure, which is just bloody silly & illogical.

Thanks, LaMa. I always know that you are there in the background & you give me some strength. I really want to thank you for that. I will give the meds a good go, instead of abandoning them early as I usually do.

Had an OK day. G's Vets golf got rained out on Monday so it was rescheduled for today. I went out there with him, had the flare-up with one of the moaners, got over it instantly, rang my sister, did some shopping, had lunch at the deli, did someone a favour, back out to the club...... back home again. I haven't had any side-effects from the A.D. so far & I usually do, so that's good.

:D "Oh, for God's sake, just move on!" sounds like a great golf club mantra. Feel free to switch sakes often and colorfully :p

Hope the pain goes away soon - I had a pulled muscle in my chest once and felt like I was having a heart attack, was horrible :( Ohh, I didn't know you had a sister! Older or younger? Is she local to you? Mine is about 1.5 hours away in London - wish she was closer.

I love you two :beating:
I swear so much more these days :blush5: G is so diplomatic & I am becoming so less tolerant. Swearing is a good outlet.
My sister is 4 years younger than me & we are very close. She lives in Victoria & I live in Tasmania, which is an island(you probably know this!) I see her once a year, but talk to her at least twice a week, for about 45 mins- whatever! We are very similar, but also quite different as siblings often are. I confide in her & we are good for one another. She knows things about me that no-one else does.

Always good to have a swearing session. I'm planning driving somewhere secluded at the weekend and having a good scream. Or cry. Or both. :)

Hope you have a lovely Friday. Mwah x

Had a pretty good day yesterday. Read a book, did some gardening & just pottered about. It was really foggy during the night & I had Asthma badly & we woke to a very thick frost. Our woollen underlay makes a huge difference. Feeling pretty good today. We have the GK's for the day & are picking them up at 10 am. Then we'll pick up A. between 2-2.30 & D will get here about 4.30 & stay for tea xo

It's so strange to read about you having frost when we are having such warm weather here. Any good book recommendations?

Hi, LaMa & Em (I'll think about book recommendations for you. Do you use Goodreads?)

I have had a good few days & am feeling better overall. This may or may not have anything to do with the medication as it's not meant to work so quickly, but I am going to continue taking it as I am not suffering from any side-effects & it may just provide a buffer zone. I am waking up with a song in my head in the mornings & am sleeping well. R is also doing fairly well & is getting stuff organised, which is a very good sign!

I usually read everyone's diaries & then type in mine, but the forum has been so active. I thought I had better type in mine before it disappears onto page 2! Not a lot to report really. No stress which is great!

Happy to see you doing better Cate.......whether it's the med or not, it's just good to have that feeling within you. Keep us posted, I've been keeping you, your son (the whole family really, hehe) in my prayers and positive thoughts!

You doing better at this time of year is no small matter - whatever the cause is - so I´m really happy to hear it!

Not on Goodreads anymore, I guess I was just curious about what kind of stuff you like to read.

Glad to hear you are getting good sleep. It's probably my number one thing to feel better.

Thanks, LaMa. You're right. I don't usually do well through Winter, but am feeling fine. In fact, I think I'm better than fine :) I'll stick with this low-dose & give it a chance.

I like to read mysteries mainly. I love the Donna Leon "Guido Brunetti" series, set in Venice, Alexander McCall Smith's No. 1 Ladies Detective series, his 44 Scotland St series, Ian Rankin's Inspector Rebus series, Angela Savage's books, set in Thailand, the Harry Bosch series (can't remember the author)........mostly detective books.
Sleep is SO important. I am hopeless without a good night's sleep!
It sounds like something is really working for you. I'm glad!
Thank you, Jess. I have spent most of my life trying to manage my moods on my own & mostly have succeeded, but the time came to give meds a try. Sometimes I think I can be my own worst enemy as well as my own best friend. There's no point being so set against something that may work against your better interests.

I went out early to golf yesterday as G dropped me off on his way. I got the fire going nicely & had a hot drink while I waited for the others. I managed to play just with K, who is lovely. We had a really good day & I played quite well I just relaxed & enjoyed it. She's great company. We got in quickly & had to wait ages for the others. I won the day & had fewer putts than anyone else. We sat around for a while, drinking wine & chatting. It was nice actually. When G came one of the women said "You can't go yet, I haven't finished talking to you", which was funny I thought. I managed to avoid feeling stressed about the club, so feel that's a big step.

We just had an electrician up to the house to fix a few things that have needed to be done for ages. The list was getting bigger & bigger & it's great to have that ticked off. We have both decided to stop even thinking about moving, so are having things fixed. Fence repairs & a couple of new gates are next :)

G & I are having a bit of a lazy day today. I'm not counting calories at the moment. It seemed to add more pressure that I wasn't ready for. Eating gluten each day until next Tuesday has me feeling very bloated & I don't think getting on the scales is a good idea.

I was going to quote the things I liked especially about your post but I ended up quoting everything... So I´ll just say you sound very well and I´m so happy about it!
