Yes they are amazing dogs! IF THEY ARE TRAINED RIGHT! Some people get a rottie just due to the 'tough' dog reputation and they are abusive or neglecting of it and then that's where this breed gets it's bad reputation. They are dogs that LOVE people, and the biggest punishment that I can give my dog is to make her go lay in her bed away from the people... it just breaks her heart. She is sooo sweet.
I am a teacher in a small town, I used to bring my dog to school with me when I worked with the high needs kids. They loved her!
It's funny though, we aren't too worried about being broken into because people know I have a rottie, but we have jokingly described what she might do if someone were robbing the place.
First of all, she's a big chicken shit, so she might sit in the corner of the couch, really still and hope to not be noticed... but if she is noticed she will go up and lick the robber to death..."sure you can take that TV and that computer, can I get the door for you? Can I give you a kiss on your way out!?" LOL...
We also have a miniature pinscher that is her mini-me. They are quite a funny pair... but the min pin is the rough and tough one. She will growl at the rottie and be quite ferocious.. Our rottie is actually quite afraid of her.. The 12 pound min pin is the alpha dog in our home! It's hilarious!
Well Tri, you got me talking about my dogs, I never shut up then!
