Can I do it? - a diary from a repeat offender

Bad weekend!

Well it wasn't a great weekend for me :(
I am not kicking myself too much but it went down hill from going to bed full Thursday...
Friday supper was pizza at my sister's house... had two pieces...
couldn't help it... my sister is a bit of a stick with a crazy metabolism and I don't like to share my weight loss strategies with her because she has no fricken clue... She's had two kids and the weight just fell off her within six months after each... SICK EH?

So on saturday due to the Pizza I tried to plan ahead before going to this wedding, I had some healthy snacks so I wouldn't go to a buffet too hungry, but instead they only made me more full in the end... I have to say I did okay at the buffet avoiding things like potatoe salad and macaroni salad but then the desert BUFFET came out! @#$%en desert! I can't help myself.. There was homemade German pastry, butter tarts, yummy cake, a chocolate fountain... common give me a @#$%en break! I lost all control... all i could think about was how could I sneak one more piece without someone seeing me and thinking, "what a pig!"
Yeah I totally ate too much! :(
My bf and I took the dogs for a really big walk which helped me feel a bit better. I felt so sick last night...I had such a full belly and heart burn, it wasn't good. I guess it was a good lesson for me at this early stage, that this is what I used to do to my body all the time! Since I have been eating so healthy for the last three weeks, my body really did notice a difference and it told me so!

So back to the healthy food again today, lots of fruit so I can get rid of that crap that I put into my body! I worked on the elliptical for forty five minutes this morning and I sweated so much... need to go and drink more water!
Hope everyone else is well?

I know exactly what you mean. I can't believe how awful full I feel when I eat too much now. I'm just miserable for hours afterwards.

Hey Rottengirl,

Just wanted to say hi and say keep up the good work. And if it makes you feel better about the bad weekend, its only a small relapse, and I am sure you learned from it and will be stronger next time. It can't all happen over night, its a progres, and I think you should be glad for how its been untill now.
Have a nice day:) Kick some butt in your challenge!!!

Thanks so much for your very kind words guys... That's why I love this forum... you are able to feel great support from strangers who you know are going through the exact same thing...
Thanks:D

Bad, bad, bad week for me! I gained four fricken pounds!
My bf and I were house sitting at an amazing bed and breakfast that is close to our home. (A friend of mine owns it.) It has a hot tub and a fire place and it is sooo beautiful! I started my school year off this week! I am a teacher and school counsellor so it has been a really crazy week! New kids and a new computer program!
I didn't do too badly with the eating healthy but I totally screwed up with the staying away from alcohol.. I enjoyed a rum and coke or two every night when we got into the hot tub... and I didn't work out as much as I would have liked!? (Due to having to come home to do it!) shit!
Okay... so not to beat myself up... I did the elliptical this morning (after my weigh in) and I did 65 minutes! burning just under 500 calories!
Look out next week I am gonna drop majorly! sheesh I hope so!
Okay holding myself accountable is good... now I must get on with my day!
Hope everyone else is doing well...

Hi!
I guess it has been a while since I updated my diary...
I have been keeping on my fitday food and exercise log but just haven't found the time to do this.
The school year has started up with a VERY busy start! I am taking the time to work out 5-6 times a week at 70 minutes each time on the elliptical.
I have been doing okay with eating but despite the # of calories... I always find myself feel guilty if I have 'too much' to eat. I am staying between 1200 and 1500 calories. I guess I am just so ticked off every week when i get on the scale.
Last week I only lost one after my four pound gain... and I have cheated this week and looked at the scale, it has flucuated between a zero pound loss and a two pound loss... So I guess that's why we need to stick to weighing in only once a week eh?
So Friday it is...That's tomorrow! Cross your fingers for me!
I have now joined two challenges. I am on the girl's team for the biggest loser... and I am on the unplumping pumpkins team for the Halloween challenge. Hopefully this will motivate me more.
This week's bonus challenge is to drink the recommended amount of water. That is probably my biggest struggled. I read what that someone else has a large water jug that they won't allow themselves to eat a meal if they don't drink that entire jug... I like that idea. I always get through the day... "O shoot I didn't touch my water bottle again!" I fill it but it sits on my desk while I do all the other things that fill my day!
Anyway thanks for saying hello!
I hope everyone else's weeks are going well?

Hey rottengirl, hang in there. You are working out everyday and keeping your calories in a certain range. Sounds like you are doing the right thing. The weight will come off.

You might be building muscle on that elliptical, so intially you might not see the weight loss you'd like. But more muscle on your body is good. To maintain muscle, your body burns more calories each day - even at rest.

You might try counting calories for a week. It's a real eye opener. You think your calories are at a certain point, but portion size really sneaks up on you.

Good luck! I'm sure you will reach your goal in time for Cuba.

Finally a result on my scale!! DOWN 2.5 lbs! woo hoo!
I was so excited!
That really motivated me to keep on keeping on!
I think I am now down to where I was before my four lb gain, so this is serious business now!!
Look out world! :D

Keep going hon!! At my heaviest I was 231 lbs and I'm down to 211 (I weighed myself yesterday here at work) so 20 lbs down....woohooo...keep working on it. I know what it is to have a crazy schedule and its hard to stay motivated but you can do it!

Thanks everyone for coming by to check on me and to encourage me. I think that I have finally gotten myself to a place where I am really ready to do this without being half assed.
I spent the weekend away from home so didn't work out but I did drink my water. I had a few drinks but I used low fat cranberry juice instead of coke. My bf didn't fail to remind me that I had said that I wasn't going to drink until Cuba.... but it was a really stressful day on Friday and if I didn't drink, I might have eaten or smoked... I know it's all excuses and none of them are healthy alternatives but hey I'm not perfect..
I have just joined the Halloween challenge and the first bonus challenge is drinking half my body weight in oz of water. So I have done really well with that both yesterday and today. I am really excited about my weigh in results this week because I am drinking so much water and I have really good intentions to work out every day!
So far I have done very well with working out at least 5 times a week, and I am proud of myself for that!
I need another 2 pound drop this week in order to feel good about what I am doing because the past month has been frustrating!
I have just over three months until my trip so about 12 weeks!! I would love to lose 25 pounds before Christmas! That would be a total of 33 pounds, a really good start before I go on the trip!
Please keep checking in with me folks! It motivates me! It really does! :D

I think you can totally lose that weight by Christmas!! It's doable... you'll see!! Keep up the great work!! You're doing great!

Yay! Another 2 pounds this week!:D
Worked out five times this week, ate well, and drank my water.:)
I think I am finally on track with this thing! I feel that I have set myself up for success with a couple of things.
I have a sweet tooth but I actually made it through that TOM (this past week) without eating chocolate from the school's vending machine! woo hoo
I have bought some of those thinsations, oreo cookie 100 calorie snack packs. I only bring one to work with me a day so I don't eat six of them in one sitting.
I also make myself low cal jello with ultra low fat cool whip. That's a nice treat with my lunch and only runs about 25 calories!
Another little treat is the Slim Fast Peanut butter crunch bars. They are sooo yummy. I think they are a little higher in caloreis, but near as much as a real chocolate bar.
Anyway... a couple of concerns that I would love some help with...
1. Now that winter is coming, what do people have in mind for fruit/veggies? I am not a big fan of apples or bananas, and I am sad to say good bye to the lovely berries, pineapples, peaches, etc. that come with the summer season. I have thought of frozen or canned fruits. Are they still as good for you, (if they are not in concentrated fruit juice?)
2. Any thoughts on veggie dishes that are good and tasty?
3. I am working out on an elliptical trainer. I hear from others that they are working out for 30-40 minutes and burning 400-600 calories. I have been doing 70 minutes at a high intensity and high heart rate, and mine tells me that I am only burning 500 calories in that time. How accurate do you think these home units are? It's a fairly nice unit, not a $5000 like at the gym but it is a good one. How can I find out, how much I am burning?
Anyway hope everyone is having a good week!?
Thanks for your continued support!
P

Great job on your 2 lbs!!! I'm not sure about the canned fruit. I know that it in no way is as good as fresh but with the added sugar I don't know how they stack up. :( I don't think that all workout machines have an accurate calorie counter on them. Maybe you should go to sparkpeople.com and type in how many minutes you did on the elliptical. That website will tell you about how many calories you burned and it might be more accurate! Anyway, have a great weekend and keep up the good work!! You're doing fantastic!
